Why is Obama Rolling out the Red carpet for Israel's Netanyahu?
http://www.care2.com/causes/politics/blog/why-is-obama-rolling-out-the-red-carpet-for-israel-s-netanyahu/
by Noam Shelef 2 hours ago

On Tuesday President Barack Obama will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a meeting in the White House. Unlike their last meeting -- held in the midst of a standoff between Washington and Jerusalem over settlement construction -- this time we can expect to see the two leaders engage in a public display of affection in front of the cameras.

At first blush it appears that both Obama and Netanyahu want to project an atmosphere of friendship for their own domestic political needs.

Smarting from the ridiculous charge that his administration has been cool to Israel’s needs, President Obama has been on a charm offensive vis-a-vis the Jewish American establishment in recent weeks. The president recently endorsed $205 million to help fund a rocket defense system in Israel. Senior White House officials have been privately briefing a select group of American rabbis. Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is now on a much-publicized visit to Israel with his family. President Obama himself took time out to talk about Israel with Jewish Members of Congress.

It stands to reason that Obama wants to show some affection for Israel now, as the mid-term election season is here.

Likewise, Netanyahu has been under attack in Israel for his handling of that country's relationship with America. Israelis know that America’s friendship is important to their wellbeing, and they don't like to see their leaders feuding with America. In fact, Netanyahu's diplomatic scuffle in the late 1990's with Bill Clinton was one key reason why he lost his re-election bid in 1999. Netanyahu’s mentor - former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir - also lost to Yitzhak Rabin in 1992 following a standoff with Washington.

A photo op with President Obama can help Netanyahu defend his record against his domestic critics.

But there is more than electoral politics at stake in Tuesday's meeting. Very real American and Israeli (not to mention Palestinian) interests are at stake. It would be a mistake for Obama to forget this.

Americans know that what happens with Israel and the Palestinians impacts America's standing globally. That's what General David Petraeus told Congress this spring. And that's why the National Security Strategy released Thursday by the White House places the Arab-Israeli conflict as a top priority item, along with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, Al-Qaida, and a potential Iranian nuclear bomb.

There is nothing wrong with President Obama using Tuesday's meeting to correct the impression that he has not been supportive of Israel (in fact, he's done a great deal to bolster Israel’s security). But it is also critical that the president keep his commitment to hold the feet of both Israelis and Palestinians to the fire to make sure that they do all they can to make progress towards peace.

It's good for America. It's good for Israel. It's good for the Palestinians. And it’s the right thing to do.

How come the Egyptians can not give the people in Gaza aid why didn't this care package go over the Gaza/Egyptian border or has the Israelis block that all off?

The neocons in Egypt and Israel executed their respective peaceful leaders. Egypt blocks the tunnels just like US turned back ships of jews. Just because the US turned back ships of jews, did that lesson the truth about the holocaust and the nazis role in that genocide?

Not for nothing, but your arguments lack perspective.

Israel told them whats up and they refused to cooperate they should have ported up and gone through the search but no they refused they were warned in advanced whats up it seems like the protesters were looking for some sort of conflict.

The ships were in Intentional waters. Israel had no "right" to tell them to do anything, in effect, the Israelies were acting as pirates.

Who "looks for conflict" with *elite special forces*?! Like the 50 years old man shot dead....hell yeah!

Which islamic radicals are you referring to? You mean this guy who is the grandson of the founder of the ADL (you cannot make this shit up):

Or what about Ali Mohammed, a bona fide islamic radical who also happens to be a CIA agent, FBI agent, and was a drill seargent at John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg, Virginia: "I think you or I would have a better chance of winning Powerball, than an Egyptian major in the unit that assassinated Sadat would have getting a visa, getting to California ... getting into the Army and getting assigned to a Special Forces unit," [his commanding officer] said. "That just doesn't happen."

That's blocked too. A British member of Parliament even tried to get a convoy through for weeks, he traveled with the convoy, he failed as well. Now Washington is pushing Egypt to build a a giant underground steel wall to stop tunnels.

Gaza is basically a Ghetto. Surrounded by walls, tanks, and machine gun nests. Blocked off from the sea with lethal force (as you've seen). Robot drones patrolling over the city in the skies. Think of the Terminator movies after judgment day.

Even the beaches can be off limits. A Palestinian family were murdered by shells from the naval blockade. Here's the link.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/5066496.stm

The people in Gaza are basically *terrorized* by land/sea and air 24/7

Last week there were some jets that bombed Gaza, hardly made the news, routine bombing of people couped up in "teh ghetto".....

Illinois National Guard unit readies for Egypt
http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2010/05/illinois-national-guard-unit-readies-for-egypt.html
May 22, 2010 9:30 PM | No Comments

More than 400 members of the Illinois National Guard got ready today to head to the Middle East, but the deployment this time will have little to do with Iraq or Afghanistan, officials said.

About 440 soldiers of the 2nd Battalion, 123rd Field Artillery Regiment have been mobilized for an international peacekeeping mission in Egypt.

Thousands of family and friends gathered at the I Wireless Center in Moline today to say goodbye to the soldiers -- from throughout the state -- as the 123rd prepared to begin the Sinai deployment, according to Mike Chrisman of the Illinois National Guard Public Affairs Office.

"This is an exciting mission," Lt. Col. Maurice Rochelle of Flossmoor, 123rd commander, said in a release.  "Our Soldiers are always training for the next mission and for the last nine years the next mission usually means Kuwait, Iraq or Afghanistan."

"Our mission is to observe, report and verify treaty compliance between Egypt and Israel," said Rochelle, a 27-year veteran of the Illinois National Guard who will deploy for the first time.  "Our Soldiers will perform the duties of observation and reporting at outposts, while patrolling and during base defense."

The Milan-based battalion will be part of Multinational Force and Observers, a peacekeeping force overseeing the 1979 peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.

The unit will be part of a task force comprised of several other countries and National Guard units from Puerto Rico and Oklahoma, Chrisman said, along with two infantry battalions from the Republic of Fiji and Colombia, and soldiers from Italy, Uruguay, France, Czech Republic, Hungary, Canada, Australia, Norway, New Zealand, and Finland.

Sgt. Bill Sadlick of Naperville thinks this deployment will be unusual. "Unlike Iraq or Afghanistan, this mission offers totally different opportunities and experiences," he said in the release.

The 123rd is scheduled to spend the next 45 days training in Fort Lewis, Wash., before deploying to Sinai for approximately 10 months.

You really ain't too up on current events, is ya?

Hamas Was Founded by Mossad
http://www.wariscrime.com/2008/12/29/news/hamas-was-founded-by-mossad/
By Hassane Zerrouky December 29, 2008

[The article below originally appeared in the French daily L'Humanité on December 14, 2001, translated to English by Global Outlook in 2002, and published by Global Research in March 2004. It shows how the so-called Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) was founded by Israel's Institute for Intelligence and Special Tasks (Mossad) with the strategic purpose to prevent the creation of a Palestinian State.

Notice the striking similarity with the creation over 50 years ago by the British MI5, the CIA and the same Mossad of what is now known as the "global terror" (based on the real Arab terrorist groups founded earlier by the German Nazis). Trained, armed and funded by the Global Elite, the fabled enemies are used as a smokescreen to hide who all these wars are really against: wherever you live, these wars are against your freedom, they are against you. — War Is Crime.]

Thanks to the Mossad, Israel’s “Institute for Intelligence and Special Tasks”, the Hamas was allowed to reinforce its presence in the occupied territories.

Meanwhile, Arafat’s Fatah Movement for National Liberation as well as the Palestinian Left were subjected to the most brutal form of repression and intimidation

Let us not forget that it was Israel, which in fact created Hamas. According to Zeev Sternell, historian at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, “Israel thought that it was a smart ploy to push the Islamists against the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO)”.

Ahmed Yassin, the spiritual leader of the Islamist movement in Palestine, returning from Cairo in the seventies, established an Islamic charity association. Prime Minister Golda Meir, saw this as a an opportunity to counterbalance the rise of Arafat’s Fatah movement.

According to the Israeli weekly Koteret Rashit (October 1987), “The Islamic associations as well as the university had been supported and encouraged by the Israeli military authority” in charge of the (civilian) administration of the West Bank and Gaza.

“They [the Islamic associations and the university] were authorized to receive money payments from abroad.”

The Islamists set up orphanages and health clinics, as well as a network of schools, workshops which created employment for women as well as system of financial aid to the poor. And in 1978, they created an “Islamic University” in Gaza. “The military authority was convinced that these activities would weaken both the PLO and the leftist organizations in Gaza.”

At the end of 1992, there were six hundred mosques in Gaza. Thanks to Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad (Israel’s Institute for Intelligence and Special Tasks), the Islamists were allowed to reinforce their presence in the occupied territories. Meanwhile, the members of Fatah (Movement for the National Liberation of Palestine) and the Palestinian Left were subjected to the most brutal form of repression.

In 1984, Ahmed Yassin was arrested and condemned to twelve years in prison, after the discovery of a hidden arms cache. But one year later, he was set free and resumed his activities. And when the Intifada (“uprising”) began, in October 1987, which took the Islamists by surprise, Sheik Yassin responded by creating the Hamas (The Islamic Resistance Movement): “God is our beginning, the prophet our model, the Koran our constitution”, proclaims article 7 of the charter of the organization.

Ahmed Yassin was in prison when, the Oslo accords (Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government) were signed in September 1993. The Hamas had rejected Oslo outright. But at that time, 70% of Palestinians had condemned the attacks on Israeli civilians. Yassin did everything in his power to undermine the Oslo accords. Even prior to Prime Minister Rabin’s death, he had the support of the Israeli government. The latter was very reluctant to implement the peace agreement.

The Hamas then launched a carefully timed campaign of attacks against civilians, one day before the meeting between Palestinian and Israeli negotiators, regarding the formal recognition of Israel by the National Palestinian Council. These events were largely instrumental in the formation of a Right wing Israeli government following the May 1996 elections.

Quite unexpectedly, Prime Minister Netanyahu ordered Sheik Ahmed Yassin to be released from prison (“on humanitarian grounds”) where he was serving a life sentence. Meanwhile, Netanyahu, together with President Bill Clinton, was putting pressure on Arafat to control the Hamas. In fact, Netanyahu knew that he could rely, once more, on the Islamists to sabotage the Oslo accords.

Worse still: after having expelled Yassin to Jordan, Prime Minister Netanyahu allowed him to return to Gaza, where he was welcomed triumphantly as a hero in October 1997.

Arafat was helpless in the face of these events. Moreover, because he had supported Saddam Hussein during the1991 Gulf war (while the Hamas had cautiously abstained from taking sides), the Gulf states decided to cut off their financing of the Palestinian Authority. Meanwhile, between February and April 1998, Sheik Ahmad Yassin was able to raise several hundred million dollars, from those same countries.

The budget of the Hamas was said to be greater than that of the Palestinian Authority. These new sources of funding enabled the Islamists to effectively pursue their various charitable activities. It is estimated that one Palestinian out of three is the recipient of financial aid from the Hamas. And in this regard, Israel has done nothing to curb the inflow of money into the occupied territories.

The Hamas had built its strength through its various acts of sabotage of the peace process, in a way which was compatible with the interests of the Israeli government. In turn, the latter sought in a number of ways, to prevent the application of the Oslo accords.

In other words, Hamas was fulfilling the functions for which it was originally created: to prevent the creation of a Palestinian State.

And in this regard, Hamas and Ariel Sharon, see eye to eye; they are exactly on the same wave length.

Meh CJ just seems like an apologist for killers or just totally ignorant, a Zionist at worst.

How could he post something as dumb as saying to put aid through Egypt?.... when its common knowledge the border is closed, and the area is even bombed by Israeli jets.

Neither does CJ respond to many valid points people raise, he is simply trying to re-focus the debate to Islamic terrorists...classic disinfo methods. Hint subject topic is "16 killed as Israelies storm....".

The *Turkish Government has been involved in getting this aid convoy out*; cj mentioning of terrorists in an attempt to sabotage the thread is laughable. Turkey is  a member of NATO, a key US ally, and also a prospective EU member.

The ship was attacked by Israel in Intentional waters, many *innocent Turkish citizens have been murdered*. This can't just be airbrushed out. But hey CJ, why not post some more pics of some scary dudes with beards, that have *nothing to do with this*.

I suggest people blackball CJ, he's clearly a time waster and trolling the board, or maybe he's just an idiot. Either way, he's on the ignore list. Don't feed this troll anymore.

I already pointed it out...

The dancers were Israelis.

Tens of thousands of Iranians marched the streets in spontaneous candlelight vigils with tears in their eyes in solidarity with America after the 9/11 terror attacks.

Why are you provoking using obviously debunkable BS arguments?

He seems to be using easily refutable David Frum talking points. Kind of weird.

Are you unaware of the 60 page report exposing the over 300 person Israeli spy ring which infiltrated the DEA?

http://cryptome.org/dea-il-spy.htm
9 April 2003. See related "Israeli Spies in Texas:"
http://cryptome.org/il-spies-tx.htm

27 March 2002. John Sugg, senior editor at creativeloafing.com, writes that he is the source of the DEA report, and provided it to antiwar.com. Credit for the publication of the report goes to Weekly Planet (Tampa) and Creative Loafing (Atlanta). Additional documents are due soon. See Mr. Sugg's latest report on the topic:
http://atlanta.creativeloafing.com/2002-03-27/fishwrapper.html

24 March 2002: Text in red indicates redactions in the original which have been lifted by use of a PDF utility, Pitstop. This reminds of Cryptome's revelation of insecure PDF redactions in a New York Times publication of a secret report on the CIA/MI6 overthrow of Mossadeq in 1953. As with the New York Times example, the rationale for revelation here is to alert named parties about the likelihood their identities have been revealed due to insecure PDF redaction.

23 March 2002: Thanks to J, link to April 1, 2002 Insight article:
http://www.insightmag.com/news/207226.html

21 March 2002. Thanks to S, J and S.
Source: http://antiwar.com/rep/DEA_Report_redactedxx.pdf  (4.7MB)

See Anti-War report of March 21, 2002: http://www.antiwar.com/orig/dea1.html

An article in Insight magzaine from May 2000 seems to be the first major coverage of Israeli spying on the US:

http://www.insightmag.com/main.cfm/include/detail/storyid/125356.html (now dead)

The authors researched it for a year. This Insight article was discussed in the June 2000 issue of the Washington Report:

http://www.washington-report.org/backissues/062000/0006006.html

and the next month Washington Report discusses the press's coverage of the Insight article:

http://www.washington-report.org/backissues/072000/0007043.html

As a result of the Insight article Fox News reported on Israeli spying in May 2000 but subsquently removed the four-part series for unexplained reasons:

Tens of thousands, and I remember reports of a million, but will leave it at tens of thousands in spontaneous candlelight vigil. This is in direct contrast to the now comatosed psychopath neocon former PM of israel and other neocons in US and UK at the time. Shit, Cheney and Rumsfeld were foaming at the mouth with jubilation. Perhaps you should investigate Grossman, Biden, Bob Graham, Wolfowitz, Zelikow, Ted Olson, Carlyle Group, PNAC, AEI, ISI, Saudi Intel, Egyptian Intel, Mossad, Deutche Bank, etc.

Fresh Cycle of BS

Israel has sent it's message and the world community is screaming because they don't like it that Israel has sent its message (don't help the Palestinians we'll shoot you if you do).

It will stick to its talking points, propagandize about its 'five wounded soldiers' and so on.  Israel as a nation state doesn't care, its going to genocide the Palestinian people and unless some super power disables the nation with a large nuclear warhead, nobody is going to stop them..

On the Eastern side the muslim nations will fight Israel to the last Palestinian, and a policy of 10 kid families to 'bred out the Israelis' will continue, thus Israel's deliberate counter policy...

I give this news cycle 4 days and the talking point media dogs will be so sick of talking about it they be dreaming the talking points in their sleep..

It is very interesting that less and less and less Israel does not care about world opinion, it seems to hold partial victory but eats political egg, but just doesn't care.
