Secret State Agencies: 'No Hard Evidence' Iran Building Nukes, March to War Continues

by Tom Burghardt

Global Research, March 5, 2012
Antifascist Calling... - 2012-03-04

Although all 16 U.S. secret state intelligence agencies confirmed, again, that "Iran had abandoned its nuclear weapons program years earlier," reaffirming the "consensus view" of not one, but two National Intelligence Estimates The New York Times reported last week, the march towards war continues.

Last Saturday The Daily Telegraph, citing The Wall Street Journal, reported that "military planners have asked for emergency funding from Congress to address a perceived shortfall in defence capabilities that could undermine the ability of US forces to respond to an Iranian closure of the Strait of Hormuz."

Plans are underway "to modify weapons systems on ships that are at present vulnerable to Iranian fast-attack boats, many of which carry anti-ship missiles," the Telegraph averred.

Feeling the heat from pro-Israeli lobby shops and congressional grifters, President Obama told The Atlantic on Friday: "When I say we're not taking any option off the table, we mean it. I think that the Israeli government recognizes that, as president of the United States, I don't bluff. I also don't, as a matter of sound policy, go around advertising exactly what our intentions are. But I think both the Iranian and the Israeli governments recognize that when the United States says it is unacceptable for Iran to have a nuclear weapon, we mean what we say."

In other words, despite repeated assertions by Iran that its nuclear program is strictly for civilian, not military purposes, facts borne out by multiple on-the-ground inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency and assessments by American spy agencies, the bar for Iranian "compliance" is continually set higher, moved from an "active program" to a mere "capability," it is now clear that war is the first, last, indeed only "option."

With this mind, Times' journalists James Risen and Mark Mazzetti informed us that lying "at the center of the debate is the murky question of the ultimate ambitions of the leaders in Tehran."

While there is "no dispute among among American, Israeli and European intelligence officials that Iran has been enriching nuclear fuel and developing some necessary infrastructure to become a nuclear power," the Times disclosed that secret state agencies also "believe that Iran has yet to decide whether to resume a parallel program to design a nuclear warhead--a program they believe was essentially halted in 2003 and which would be necessary for Iran to build a nuclear bomb."

In his January 31 Senate testimony, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper "stated explicitly that American officials believe that Iran is preserving its options for a nuclear weapon, but said there was no evidence that it had made a decision on making a concerted push to build a weapon."

Clapper's assessment is shared by other top Obama administration officials including CIA Director David Petraeus, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey.

According to the Times, "intelligence officials and outside analysts believe there is another possible explanation for Iran's enrichment activity, besides a headlong race to build a bomb as quickly as possible. They say that Iran could be seeking to enhance its influence in the region by creating what some analysts call 'strategic ambiguity'."

Given the belligerent rhetoric and hostile military maneuvers by the United States, Israel and NATO, why wouldn't the Iranians aim for "strategic ambiguity" in their dealings with the West?

Ringed by U.S. military bases, targets of a CIA/Mossad "active program" to assassinate scientists, bomb military installations, wage cyberwar against nuclear facilities and impose crippling sanctions intended to crater their economy, it's surprising the Iranians haven't sought the illusory "security" afforded by possessing nuclear weapons!

Disappeared History

While disinformation specialists such as The Washington Post's Joby Warrick shamefully assert that "Iran already has enough enriched uranium to build four nuclear weapons," he trumpets this specious charge--and gets away with it--by hiding behind the skirts of anonymous "U.S. officials and nuclear experts."

In fact Iran's "Supreme Leader," Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated the obvious not only for Iranians but for the entire planet: "We believe that using nuclear weapons is haram and prohibited, and that it is everybody's duty to make efforts to protect humanity against this great disaster."

Khamenei, the head of Tehran's repressive mullahocracy, whose hand was strengthened in recent parliamentary elections, also reiterated that "besides nuclear weapons, other types of weapons of mass destruction such as chemical and biological weapons also pose a serious threat to humanity."

"The Iranian nation which is itself a victim of chemical weapons feels more than any other nation the danger that is caused by the production and stockpiling of such weapons and is prepared to make use of all its facilities to counter such threats," Khamenei declared.

The Grand Ayatollah pointedly alluded to chemical attacks on Iran during the 1980-1988 war with Iraq.

Though studiously ignored by corporate media today's rush to war, we would do well to recall that Iraq had been given a green light to invade the Islamic Republic by the Carter administration.

During that period, Western-supplied technology and logistical support, including geospatial intelligence provided by America's fleet of spy satellites, along with billions of dollars in arms provided by Britain, France, Germany and the United States were lavished on Iraq when Saddam was America's "best friend forever." American and European firms literally handing over the know-how that allowed Iraq to kill and maim Iranian civilians and soldiers during that disastrous war. By the conflict's end, Iran had suffered an estimated one million casualties, killed or wounded, and the near-destruction of their economy.

Investigative journalist Alan Friedman, the author of Spider's Web: The secret history of how the White House illegally armed Iraq, documented how early in the conflict, the U.S. began providing tactical battlefield advice to the Iraqi Army.

"At times," Friedman wrote, "thanks to the White House's secret backing for the intelligence-sharing, U.S. intelligence officers were actually sent to Baghdad to help interpret the satellite information. As the White House took an increasingly active role in secretly helping Saddam direct his armed forces, the United States even built an expensive high-tech annex in Baghdad to provide a direct down-link receiver for the satellite intelligence and better processing of the information."

According to Friedman's definitive account: "The American military commitment that had begun with intelligence-sharing expanded rapidly and surreptitiously throughout the Iran–Iraq War. A former White House official explained that 'by 1987, our people were actually providing tactical military advice to the Iraqis in the battlefield, and sometimes they would find themselves over the Iranian border, alongside Iraqi troops'."

But such support was not limited to providing advice and battlefield intelligence to Saddam's generals; it also extended to Iraqi procurement of banned chemical and biological weapons, actual "weapons of mass destruction," backed by billions of dollars in loan guarantees extended to Iraq by the U.S. Commerce Department.

Indeed, as Scotland's Sunday Herald reported more than a decade ago, months before America and Britain's rush to war with Iraq, an investigation all but suppressed by American media, "The US and Britain sold Saddam Hussein the technology and materials Iraq needed to develop nuclear, chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction."

Investigative journalists Neil Mackay and Felicity Arbuthnot reported at the time that "the US Senate's committee on banking, housing and urban affairs--which oversees American exports policy--reveal that the US, under the successive administrations of Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr, sold materials including anthrax, VX nerve gas, West Nile fever germs and botulism to Iraq right up until March 1992, as well as germs similar to tuberculosis and pneumonia. Other bacteria sold included brucella melitensis, which damages major organs, and clostridium perfringens, which causes gas gangrene."

Weapons that were used to deadly effect against Iran with the full knowledge, and complicity, of Western governments.

The Dangerous Misreading of Obama’s 2012 AIPAC Speech By The Stupid Anti-War Left

Saman Mohammadi
Prisonplanet.com
March 6, 2012

There is a narrative, mainly endorsed by the stupid anti-war left, that President Obama is still on the fence on a war with Iran, and is keeping Israel at bay. Proponents of this narrative say that Obama’s speech at the 2012 AIPAC conference was strategically titled towards the side of diplomacy in dealing with Iran instead of war.

They point to key phrases that were cushioned in the heart of the speech such as “there is too much loose talk of war,” and “now is not the time for bluster. Now is the time to let our increased pressure sink in,” as proof that Obama is trying to avoid war, but still mindful of Israel’s sensitivities.
That is bullshit.

If Obama was trying to avoid a war with Iran then he wouldn’t commit the United States to a sanctions program that paves the path to an inevitable clash down the road. As Col. Wilkerson told the Alyona show on Russia Today on March 1st, sanctions is not diplomacy.

Obama’s problem with Israel’s “loose talk of war,” is that it is too honest and transparent. He wants to take a quiet, sneaky approach, so that when war with Iran finally dawns, it won’t have to be announced to the American public. It will become a matter of fate, not politics.

Obama wants to replace Israel’s war drums with war flutes. As he said in his speech, “Now is the time to heed the timeless advice from Teddy Roosevelt:  Speak softly; carry a big stick.” This is not clever peace talk by a peace-minded president. This is code for, “Gangsters don’t make noise before they strike their prey, they walk up smoothly, silently, and the victim drops dead before he even knows what happened.” If Obama was aiming for peace and diplomacy, he wouldn’t be carrying any stick.

In his speech, Obama said that America and Israel should not state their intentions for war so openly. And he reminded the Israelis, “rest assured that the Iranian government will know our resolve, and that our coordination with Israel will continue.” That is not a bluff.

Obama wants war, but on a silent watch, not on a watch that goes off every five minutes with alarms of war, as the Israelis desire. Obama is being true to Mossad’s motto of “by deception thou shall wage war.” The Israelis are not being deceptive about their intentions. They’re saying, “Let’s have war. Let’s bomb them into hell. We want a fight.” But Obama is saying, “Cool down. Be more deceptive. Be more true to your own motto. Do not shout war slogans. Tone it down. Let’s carry out our war policies in the dark. Do not announce them to the world.”

The writers at the Young Turks website raised the question: “Do you think Obama’s strategy to play both sides on Iran is right? Will it work to avoid a war?” This question is foolish for two reasons.

1) The war has already begun, and the totalitarian governments of America, England, and Israel are happily on the same side. As Ron Paul and others have said, sanctions against Iran are “an act of war.” Economic war is war. The Israelis want to starve the Iranians, and Obama is okay with that.

2) Obama does not have a strategy to play both sides on Iran. He is fully on the side of the Israelis, and the war party in Washington. He wants to start World War III by attacking Iran, but he wants this war to appear as historically inevitable to the masses of America and the world. Israel and America must first stage a false flag attack in America to blame Iran, and destroy its image as a peaceful nation before attacking it. Otherwise, the war will not be politically or morally acceptable.

Obama is perfectly fine with having a war with Iran, but it has to be politically acceptable, and that takes “pressure to sink in,” as he put it. Obama and his masters want war by stealth. They are trying to boil the Iranian frog in slow-motion, not throw it in an ocean of fire as the Israelis want.

Obama has given away the field to the Israelis and the war party on point after point, issue after issue. He has done this by acknowledging Israel’s propaganda talking points such as Iran desiring a nuclear weapon, Iran desiring to wipe Israel off the map, and Iran sponsoring terrorist networks in the Middle East. These are all documented lies. First, Iran is not interested in acquiring nuclear weapons. It has a nuclear power program [.pdf]. Second, Iran never said it wants to wipe Israel off the map. And third, Hezbollah is not a terrorist network, but a Lebanese resistance movement that came into being after Israel illegally invaded Lebanon in 1982.

Obama has given credence to Israel’s lies by giving the presidential seal of approval and highlighting them in his war-driven speeches. By reaffirming Israel’s false narrative as the truth of history, Obama is justifying Israel’s stance against Iran as legitimate, rational, and prudent.

Any talk of Obama trying to avert a war is foolish, stupid, and inaccurate. Obama is a son of Satan, a deceiver in disguise, and a wolf in sheep’s clothing. There will be a war with Iran. And Obama will defend this destructive course, while the stupid anti-war Leftists look on and tell themselves: “He is trying to save us. He is trying to stop a war with Iran. But he’s being discreet about it to avoid the fury of AIPAC and the Congress. Wow, he’s so cool, and under-the-radar smart. He is telling the Israelis what they want to hear, but still taking the course of diplomacy.” That is a dream. But the anti-war Left will keep telling themselves this lie.

If the President of the United States and the Pentagon were really against a war with Iran, they wouldn’t be discreet about it. They would tell the Israelis, “Back off. Or we’ll punish you.” And the President wouldn’t repeat Israeli lies and false narratives in every speech.

The truth is that the evil vultures in the White House want a war with Iran even more than Israel’s insane leaders.

Obama is not the quarterback for the peace team. The only quarterback for the peace team in America is Ron Paul, and he is being benched.

There are only two teams on the field: Team War 1, and Team War 2. Netanyahu is the quarterback for Team War 1, and Obama is the quarterback for Team War 2.

US Think Tank Devises Plan To Sell Fake Iran Threat

US Think Tank Devises Plan To Sell Fake Iran Threat

Admits Iran is not a threat to either US or Israeli security, devises narrative to sell unnecessary war to public

Tony Cartalucci
Prisonplanet.com

The corporate media has recently portrayed a narrative where we see the West apparently warning Israel against a unilateral attack on Iran. It appears that Israel is intent on “going it alone” despite the wishes of its “more rational” Western sponsors. Recently, the Wall Street Journal reported in their article, “U.S., Israel Pull Closer on Iran,” that, “Israeli officials, meanwhile, said that President Barack Obama’s public and private acknowledgment of the Jewish state’s sovereign right to defend itself was a crucial gain as the two countries seek to deter Tehran,” in regards to Iran’s alleged nuclear program.

To the average reader, it would seem that both the US and Israel agree that Iran is an imminent threat against which Israel and the United States simply have differing views on how to counter. In reality, this is a premeditated, deceitful act, already clearly articulated since 2009 in a signed document, on how both nations plan on duping the world into accepting an unnecessary war.

Which Path to Persia? .pdf

....

The document, “Which Path to Persia?” published by the corporate-funded Brookings Institute, and signed by Kenneth Pollack, Daniel Byman, Martin Indyk, Suzanne Maloney, Michael O’Hanlon, and Bruce Riedel, who often make their way onto corporate-media networks as “experts,” clearly states that Iran is neither reckless nor likely to deploy nuclear weapons in any way but as a deterrence to Western-led military intervention. The fear is not of waking up one day to a nuclear holocaust with Israel “wiped off the map,” but rather waking up one day and realizing the US and Israel no longer hold uncontested hegemony across the Middle East.

On page 24 of the Brookings Institute report, it is stated, “most of Iran’s foreign policy decisionmaking since the fall of the Shah could probably be characterized as “aggressive but not reckless,”" before adding the baseless caveat, “but Washington cannot categorically rule out the possibility that there are truly insane or ideologically possessed Iranian leaders who would attempt far worse if they were ever in a position to do so.” Such a comment could be just as easily said about US leadership, where Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Congressman Steve Buyer of Indiana at one point suggested the use of nuclear weapons in Afghanistan against cave-dwelling militants using 30 year-old Soviet weapons.

Image: Screenshot taken from Defense.gov where it is admitted that a US Senator proposed using nuclear weapons against Afghanistan with then Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld keeping such options “on the table.” While the threat of Iran using nuclear weapons has constituted exclusively of accusations by the West directed at the Islamic Republic, threats of the US using such weapons come directly from America’s leadership itself. (click image to enlarge)

....

Other US think-tanks, including the RAND Corporation, in assessing the threat of a nuclear Iran, noted that Iran has had chemical weapons in its inventory for decades, and other reports [.pdf] from RAND describe the strict control elite military units exercise over these weapons, making it unlikely they would end up in the hands of “terrorists.” The fact that Iran’s extensive chemical weapon stockpile has yet to be disseminated into the hands of non-state actors, along with the fact that these same elite units would in turn handle any Iranian nuclear weapons, lends further evidence to the conclusion that Iran poses a risk only to US-Israeli hegemony, not their national security.

The Brookings report would then go on to admit it was the intention of US-Israeli policy toward Iran to provoke a war they knew Iran would neither want, nor benefit from. The goal was to create such a provocation without the world recognizing it was indeed the West triggering hostilities:

Super Tuesday Super Rhetoric: GOP Hopefuls Tell AIPAC They Support Iran Attack

Kurt Nimmo
PrisonPlanet.com
March 7, 2012

On Super Tuesday, establishment GOP candidates pledged their fidelity to the foreign policy objectives of Israel and AIPAC as they strived to outdo each other in belligerent rhetoric aimed at Iran. Romney, Santorum and Gingrich promised to support an Israeli attack some analysts predict will occur in June.

“If Iran doesn’t get rid of nuclear facilities, we will tear them down ourselves,” said Rick Santorum, who has expressed strongly worded anti-Iran sentiment in the past. In January Santorum said he would not hesitate to launch an attack on Iran.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnrUcQ9WHqw (AIPAC_Rick Santorum_GRABS HIS ANKLES at AIPAC)

Attacking Iran over its unsubstantiated nuclear weapons program has remained at the forefront of his presidential campaign. In November, appearing before a small crowd in rural New Hampshire, Santorum called for a “preemptive strike” following a less than conclusive IAEA report on Iran’s nuclear program.

“As I’ve sat and watched this play out on the world stage, I have seen a president who has been reticent,” the former Pennsylvania senator said from the AIPAC stage in the nation’s capitol while the other candidates remained on the campaign trial.

Mitt Romney delivered a satellite video speech to the convention. He promised that if he becomes president he will stand with Israel “in all conditions.” Romney said he would end Obama’s “procrastination” on confronting Iran by imposing further draconian sanctions. “I will make sure Iran knows of the very real peril that awaits if it becomes nuclear,” he said.

“As president, I will be ready to engage in diplomacy. But I will be just as ready to engage our military might,” Romney said.

Newt Gingrich also addressed the convention via satellite link from his home state of Georgia. He criticized Clinton’s State Department for its policy on Iran and characterized U.S. intelligence as “timid.”

In February, American intelligence analysts said that there is no definitive evidence that Iran has decided to build a nuclear bomb. The CIA and more than a dozen other intelligence agencies said Iran halted attempts to build a nuclear weapon in 2003. Iran has been unable to enrich uranium to a level required for a nuclear weapon.

Despite the assessment by intelligence analysts, Gingrich told AIPAC he believes Iran has crossed a “red line” with its nuclear program and was “deepening their commitment to nuclear weapons while we talk.”

“I will provide all available intelligence to the Israeli government, ensure that they have the equipment necessary, and reassure them, that if an Israeli prime minister decides that he has to avoid the threat of a second Holocaust through pre-emptive measures, that I would require no advance notice,” he said.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eO93Zx2SR-4 (Newt Gingrich Addresses the AIPAC Conference March 6, 2012)

The strident rhetoric of the GOP hopefuls arrives following Israeli PM Netanyahu’s address before AIPAC on Monday. He said Israel has waited for diplomacy to work but “we cannot afford to wait much longer.”

“Amazingly, some people refuse to acknowledge that Iran’s goal is to develop nuclear weapons. You see, Iran claims that it’s enriching uranium to develop medical research. Yeah, right,” Netanyahu said.

“If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then what is it?  That’s right, it’s a duck. But this duck is a nuclear duck and it’s time the world started calling a duck a duck,” he said.

“A nuclear-armed Iran would dramatically increase terrorism by giving terrorists a nuclear umbrella,” he warned. “That means that Iran’s terror proxies like Hezbollah, Hamas will be emboldened to attack America, Israel, and others because they will be backed by a power with atomic weapons.”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chnzvcsm-l0 (Netanyahu's Speech to AIPAC in 2012)

Netanyahu cited the Holocaust in his speech. “My friends, 2012 is not 1944,” he said. “Today, we have a state of our own. And the purpose of the Jewish state is to defend Jewish lives and to secure the Jewish future.”

Israeli political leaders and members of Congress argue that Iran will engage in genocide and a second Holocaust if they manage to produce a nuclear weapon.

Israel, Congress and the establishment media repeatedly cite a mistranslation of a speech delivered by Iranian president Ahmadinejad in 2008 in order to argue Iran will wipe “Israel off the face of the earth.”
The remark is attributed to a deliberate Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) mistranslation. MEMRI is an Israel-centric propaganda tool run by a former colonel in Israeli intelligence and specializes in dredging up obscure antisemitic remarks made by Arab and Muslim critics of the Jewish state.

The AIPAC speeches by Romney, Santorum and Gingrich reveal that the number one political issue this election season is not the economy or the welfare of the American people, but the interests of fanatical Likudnik warmongers in Israel who are determined to attack Iran and initiate not only a conflagration in the Middle East, but a Third World War.

Imperial Rage for War

by Stephen Lendman

Global Research
March 7, 2012

America ravages the world one country at a time or in multiples. Post-9/11 alone, millions died. Vast destruction was caused. Human misery caused is incalculable.

Now Syria and Iran are targeted. Disagreement only is on timing, not intent. Neocon Senator John McCain wants Syria bombed. In spring 2007, on a "Straight Talk" campaign tour stop, he responded to a question singing:

"Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran," then lied, saying:

"Iran is dedicated to the destruction of Israel. That alone should concern us but now they are trying for nuclear capabilities. I totally support the President (Bush) when he says we will not allow Iran to destroy Israel."

In 2008, presidential aspirant Hillary Clinton threatened war on Iran, saying:

"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm president, we will attack Iran. In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

In other words, she threatened to murder over 70 million people. At the same time, she as well as top Washington and Israeli officials know Iran menaces no one, and hasn't attacked another country in over 200 years.

Yet aggressive war's planned for regime change, no matter the potentially catastrophic consequences.

AIPAC lobbies aggressively for war on Iran. Tops on its agenda is advocacy for "S. Res. 380: A resolution to express the sense of the Senate regarding the importance of preventing the Government of Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons capability."

The so-called Casey/Lieberman/Graham resolution has 44 sponsors. At issue is lowering the threshold for war on Iran. Occupy AIPAC calls it "a blank check for war."

If enacted into law by both Houses and signed by Obama, presidents henceforth could use it as an authorization for war based solely on Washington wanting it preemptively without justification.

In September 2001, Congress approved the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) for "the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the recent attacks launched against the United States."

Of course, those attacked had nothing to do with 9/11. But you'd never know it from scandalous major media scoundrel reports, commentaries and editorials.

"War on terror" authority facilitated permanent wars. Scoundrel journalism cheerleads them. Presidents now wage them at their discretion. S. Res. 380 makes it easier. Specifically naming Iran, it's easily replicated against Syria or any other US target.

The Emergency Committee for Israel (ECI)

ECI fabricates claims about alleged Israeli security risks. Tops is lying about Iran's "pursuit of a nuclear weapon and its support of terrorist groups."

Founded by William Kristol, a rabid war advocate director of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC), its board also includes Gary Bauer (a Christian Zionist war on terror extremist), and Rachel Abrams, wife of convicted Iran-Contra criminal Elliott Abrams.

Last year, she wrote about Gilad Shalit's release on her Bad Rachel blog as follows:

"....round up his captors, the slaughtering, death-worshiping, innocent-butchering, child-sacrificing savages who dip their hands in blood and use women … as shields, hiding behind their burkas and cradles like the unmanned animals they are, and throw them not into your prisons … but into the sea, to float there, food for sharks, stargazers, and whatever other oceanic carnivores God has put there for the purpose.”

On March 1, ECI ran a spurious full-page New York Times hate ad. Targeting the Center for American Progress, Media Matters, and by implication other like-minded groups, it falsely accused them of anti-Semitism for criticizing Israeli policy.

AIPAC's Annual Gathering of the Faithful

On March 4, AIPAC's annual conference convened in Washington. Obama and Netanyahu spoke. So did top Republican and Democrat officials. In lock step, they subserviently pledged fealty to Israel.

They also repeated fabricated claims about Iran's nuclear ambitions, its threat to Israel, and need to confront it aggressively. Thousands of attendees heard Obama vow to protect Israel against any threat. He also said Washington won't tolerate Iran acquiring nuclear weapons even though he knows Tehran spurns having them.

Netanyahu claimed "Iran's nuclear program continues to march forward. My friends, Israel was waited and waited for the international community to resolve this issue. We've waited for diplomacy to work. We've waited for sanctions to work. None of us can afford to wait much longer. As prime minister of Israel, I will never let my people live in the shadow of annihilation."

He barely stopped short of declaring war against a nation he know poses no threat to Israel or any other nation.

Senator Joe Lieberman was even blunter saying:

“The president has said he doesn’t bluff and neither can we in Congress. The Iranian regime must hear a message from us and we must state it loud and clear: Either you peacefully negotiate an end to your illicit nuclear activities or they will be ended for you by military attack.”

In response, attendees leapt to their feet and applauded.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R. KY) matched Lieberman, saying:

“If Iran at any time begins to enrich the uranium to weapons grade or decides to go forward with a weapons program, then the United States will use overwhelming force to end that program.”

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said if all else fails, Washington will "act against Iran."

Other speakers echoed similar comments. The conference wreaked hawkish hate. Lawless rogues infest it annually. Their policies threaten humanity.

AIPAC's Destructive Agenda

Calling itself "America's Pro-Israel Lobby," virtually no one in Congress confronts it. Doing so is a career-ender. As a result, it has virtual veto power over war and peace, trade and investment, multi-billion dollar arms sales, enormous handouts to Israel, and all Middle East policies affecting the Jewish state under Democrat and Republican administrations alike.

Deferentially, politicians, presidents, their hangers-on, media scoundrels and others genuflect dutifully to its influence and the government it represents.

On its web site, AIPAC spuriously calls Iran "the world’s leading state sponsor of terror and is racing toward a nuclear weapons capability. Through its proxy armies of Hizballah in Southern Lebanon, Hamas in the Gaza Strip and insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Iranian regime is supporting terrorists carrying out daily attacks on American troops and Israeli civilians."

Its talking points include the following:

"Iran must stop its nuclear weapons program.

American policy must unabashedly seek to prevent Iran from achieving a nuclear weapons capability. A nuclear-armed Iran is an existential threat to Israel and would arm the world's leading sponsor of terrorism with the ultimate weapon.

Iran is the leading state sponsor of terrorism.

Iran finances, arms and trains terrorist groups operating around the world. It is the leading sponsor of Hamas and Hizballah, and is also arming insurgents fighting U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Stop the human rights violations.

In the aftermath of the 2009 Iranian presidential election which falsely awarded Mahmoud Ahmaninejad a second term, Iran's Revolutionary Guard quelled popular protests by arresting civil leaders, beating and killing peaceful protesters and cutting off internet and mobile access to its citizens."

It falsely claims Iran's "approaching a nuclear weapons capability....The United States must make clear that Iran will not be permitted to achieve a nuclear weapons capability."

It stresses all options must be used to prevent it. It barely stops short of demanding a declaration of war to assure it.

AIPAC's a menacing influence. It's also an illegal unregistered foreign agent. Yet political Washington bows to its will even when US interests are harmed. Attacking Iran endangers everyone.

Yet deranged leaders are too unconcerned to care. Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad. Rogue Washington and Israeli officials qualify.

A Final Comment

On March 4, Haaretz writer Gideon Levy took aim at Israel's inordinate power to influence US policy, saying:

On March 5, "an elephant and an ant" met in Washington. "But wait," he asked? Who's the dominant power, and who's the patron?

"A new chapter is being written in the history of nations. Never before has a small country dictated to a superpower; never before has the chirp of the cricket sounded like a roar; never has the elephant resembled the ant - and vice versa."

"No Roman province dared tell Julius Caesar what to do, no tribe ever dreamed of forcing Genghis Khan to act in accordance with its own tribal interests. Only Israel does this. On Monday, when Barack Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu meet at the White House, it will be hard to tell which one is the real leader of the world."

Israel teaches size doesn't matter. One day going along will go too far. Iran's a red line not to be crossed.

Alfred Lord Tennyson's "Charge of the Light Brigade" comes to mind, saying:

Evidence of War Lies Public Pre-War This Time

Washington’s Blog
March 10, 2012

By leading anti-war activist David Swanson, author of Day Break and War Is A Lie, who runs the websites DavidSwanson.org and WarIsACrime.org (formerly AfterDowningStreet.org)

When President George W. Bush was pretending to want to avoid a war on Iraq while constantly pushing laughably bad propaganda to get that war going, we had a feeling he was lying.  After all, he was a Republican.  But it was after the war was raging away that we came upon things like the Downing Street Minutes and the White House Memo.

Now President Barack Obama is pretending to want to avoid a war on Iran and to want Israel not to start one, while constantly pushing laughably bad propaganda to get that war going.  We might suspect a lack of sincerity, given the insistence that Iran put an end to a program that the U.S. government simultaneously says there is no evidence exists, given the increase in free weapons for Israel to $3.1 billion next year, given the ongoing protection of Israel at the U.N. from any accountability for crimes, given the embrace of sanctions highly unlikely to lead to anything other than greater prospects of war, and given Obama’s refusal to take openly illegal war “off the table.”  We might suspect that peace was not the ultimate goal, except of course that Obama is a Democrat.

However, we now have Wikileaks cables and comments from anonymous officials that served as the basis for a report from the Israeli newspaper Haaretz:

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu requested the United States approve the sale of advanced refueling aircraft as well as GBU-28 bunker-piercing bombs to Israel during a recent meeting with Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, a top U.S. official said on Tuesday.  The American official said that U.S. President Barack Obama instructed Panetta to work directly with Defense Minister Ehud Barak on the matter, indicating that the U.S. administration was inclined to look favorably upon the request as soon as possible. During the administration of former U.S. President George Bush, the U.S. refused to sell bunker-penetrating bombs and refueling aircrafts to Israel, as a result of American estimates that Israel would then use them to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities.  Following Obama’s entrance into the White House, however, the United States approves a string of Israeli requests to purchase advance armament.  Diplomatic cables exposed by the WikiLeaks website exposed discussion concerning advanced weapons shipments. In one cable which surveyed defense discussions between Israel and the United states that took place on November 2009 it was written that ‘both sides then discussed the upcoming delivery of GBU-28 bunker busting bombs to Israel, noting that the transfer should be handled quietly to avoid any allegations that the USG is helping Israel prepare for a strike against Iran.’”

Why supply Israel with the weapons to attack Iran more forcefully if you don’t want Israel to attack Iran?  The Israeli newspaper Maariv claims to have the answer.  Apparently people in the know are spilling the beans earlier this war cycle:

“The United States offered Israel advanced weaponry in return for it committing not to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities this year, Israeli daily Maariv reported on Thursday.  Citing unnamed Western diplomats and intelligence sources, the report said that during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington this week, the US administration offered to supply Israel with advanced bunker-busting bombs and long-range refuelling planes.  In return, Israel would agree to put off a possible attack on Iran till 2013, after the US elections in November.”

One point can be little doubted here, namely that this would be the biggest damn story in U.S. “progressive” circles if Obama were a Republican.  But even though he isn’t, there could conceivably be SOME interest in the fact that a serious news outlet is reporting that Obama has taken steps to facilitate an attack on Iran and to delay it until after his own hoped-for reelection.

Even Reuters has noted this development:

“A front-page article in the Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv on Thursday said Obama had told Netanyahu that Washington would supply Israel with upgraded military equipment in return for assurances that there would be no attack on Iran in 2012.”

Now, the usual handful of progressive Congress members has just introduced a bill that would compel the U.S. government to talk to the government of Iran.  Seems sensible enough (even if it frames it as an effort to prevent Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon).  We do ask that much of our children when they become involved in disagreements.

But Congressman John Conyers, one of the cosponsors of that bill, had another trick up his sleeve when Bush was in the White House.  Nobody believed him, of course, but for what it was worth, after refusing to impeach Bush for countless offenses, Conyers swore that if Bush attacked Iran, then he Conyers would launch impeachment proceedings.  Now, Conyers is back in the minority party in the House, but even minority members can raise the threat of impeachment efforts.  And at the moment they could join a member of the majority in doing so.  That’s because Congressman Walter Jones has introduced H. Con Res 107, which reads:

“Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That it is the sense of Congress that, except in response to an actual or imminent attack against the territory of the United States, the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress violates Congress’s exclusive power to declare war under article I, section 8, clause 11 of the Constitution and therefore constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution.”

Now, this does not clearly cover an attack with U.S. weapons and advice carried out by another nation, but it does cover the question of U.S. entry into a war started by Israel, even if U.S. troops and bases abroad have been attacked in retaliation.  And it covers possible U.S. war making in Syria.  And it covers over 100 nations where U.S. Special Forces are now operating.  And it covers our current and prospective drone attacks in various parts of the world.

Of course, such an impeachment effort is also treasonous, given Obama’s membership in the Democratic Party — unlike the completely non-treasonous acts of openly “legalizing murder,” or lying to the nation about efforts to avoid a war.

Israel And America To Iran: Stop Your Nuclear Weapons Program, Which We Know Doesn’t Exist, Or We’ll Attack You And Say You Started It

Saman Mohammadi
Prisonplanet.com
Tuesday, March 13, 2012

“The president had offered a new definition of “aggression” against this country and a new war doctrine to go with it. He would, he insisted, take the U.S. to war not to stop another nation from attacking us or even threatening to do so, but simply to stop it from building a nuclear weapon — and he would act even if that country were incapable of targeting the United States. That should have been news.” – Tom Engelhardt, “The 0% Doctrine,” March 12, 2012.

“So why the aggressive posture towards Iran? Why have we heaped the harshest set of economic sanctions in the world on Iran – which Columbia University Professor Gary Sick has called “an act of war”? Why do we have Iran militarily encircled with military bases and client states? Why have we supported Israeli proxy terrorism on Iranian soil? Why is it that not a week goes by without an explicit threat of preventive attack on Iran? It can’t be for the nuclear weapons program: it doesn’t exist.” – John Glaser, “The Real Threat From Iran,” March 12, 2012.

“Just a few days ago I met a well-known American journalist, Mr. Seymour Hersh, and he was saying that American senior officials know without a doubt that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons, and the issue is Iranian sovereignty. The issue is Iran’s independence. So, it’s quite clear that the policies of the United States and its European partners are not really directed at Iran’s nuclear program. It’s directed at Iranian independence and sovereignty.” – Seyed Mohammad Marandi, Press TV, January 11, 2012.

“In his speeches, Binyamin Netanyahu likes to fire up his audiences with frequent references to the Holocaust, Jewish destiny and the fate of future generations. In light of this doomsday rhetoric, one wonders if Israel’s prime minister can always distinguish between the real dangers confronting the country and shadows of past traumas. This question is crucial, because to confuse one with the other could sentence Israel to relive those echoes and shadows.” – David Grossman, “It is Israel’s fears, not a nuclear Iran, that we must tame,” March 12, 2012.

The American/Israeli-Iranian stand-off is shrouded in mystery. We are submerged in a sea of smoke, and we can all see a fire slowly forming above us on the surface as we sink lower into the bottom of the abyss.

But some things are not mysterious. We know three facts for sure. 1) Iran has no nuclear weapons, and does not even have a nuclear weapons program [.pdf]. 2) Iran is not planning to build nuclear weapons in the near-term future, and is not planning attack Israel or the United States with any kind of weapons. 3) Iran is the victim of U.S., British, and Israeli aggression.

But it doesn’t matter what we know to be true and what we can prove beyond any reasonable doubt because extremely powerful and diabolical war criminals in Washington, London, and Tel Aviv are hell-bent on starting an apocalyptic war with Iran.

Facts in Washington, London, and Tel Aviv take a back-seat to propaganda and political paranoia. As John Glaser wrote on February 27, “Facts Are Powerless in the Hands of War Hawks on Iran.” We left the realm of facts and reality on September 11, 2001. On that fateful day, we entered a twilight zone, wherein reality and facts disappeared into the background of life and history.

In the immediate wake of the 9/11 tragedy, the wolves of aggressive war in the West and Israel felt free to create a new world by turning mythical tales into sacred truths and mass murder of innocents into holy liberation. They excommunicated 9/11 truth-tellers from Western society by saying they were crazy conspiracy theorists, and took full control of the impressionable global public mind with mass mind control techniques, war propaganda, and fear-based narratives.

The hysteria about Iran must be seen in the context of the world government and world depopulation agenda. The war criminals in Tel Aviv and Washington who committed the 9/11 attacks want to attack Iran because they need to create an end-of-the-world scenario to distract the global population from the economic problems they’ve created and also to redirect the wrath of the American people towards Iranians and Muslims.

Mossad and CIA concur: Iran is not seeking nukes

While CIA admits Iran is not developing nuclear weapons, sanctions against Iran remain in place

Global Research, March 19, 2012
Russia Today - 2012-03-18

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad listening to an expert during a tour of Tehran's research reactor center on February 15, 2012 (AFP Photo) TRENDS: Israel vs Iran TAGS: Conflict, Nuclear, Politics, Iran, USA, Israel, Security

Israel’s intelligence service Mossad has acknowledged, just like their American counterparts, there is no proof Tehran is carrying out a nuclear weapons program, a source in US intelligence told the New York Times. An unnamed former senior US intelligence official told the paper “Mossad does not disagree with the US on the [Iranian] weapons program.”

The consensus among US spy agencies remains that Iran stopped its nuclear weapons research several years ago.

“There is not a lot of dispute between the US and Israeli intelligence communities on the facts,” the official continued. Such recognition comes in stark contrast with Israeli politicians, who have continually insisted on an immediate military strike on Iran’s nuclear installations to prevent it from evolving into an “existential threat” to the Jewish state.

The assessment of the intelligence available is the key to the ongoing war or peace dilemma with Iran. US spy agencies have been searching around for years, trying to find proof Iran is developing a nuclear warhead and missiles to deliver it. For all of their troubles, this is what they’ve found: the program was shut down way back in 2003.

Iran is seeking peaceful nuclear energy. It is known and verified they are not seeking to build N bombs.

Even North Korea offered the UN nuclear inspectors to viisit their sites.

Iran always had the inspectors visiting their sites.

What are Israel and the U.S. waiting to have the UN inspectors to visit their nuclear sites?

Do as I say but don't do as I do.

Hypocrits.

U.S.-IRAN: From War Of Nerves To Full-Scale War? by Boris Volkhonsky

U.S.-IRAN: From War Of Nerves To Full-Scale War?

by Boris Volkhonsky

Global Research, March 21, 2012
Voice of Russia and Stop NATO

Apparently U.S. authorities want to create an assumption that a war with Iran is inevitable, and the only remaining questions are, who is to launch the first strike, and when will it happen?

The U.S. sticks to the scenario under which it will be Israel who initiates the war. In that case, it will give the U.S. a plausible excuse for being involved with the sole purpose to defend its core ally.

For the U.S., whose aim is obvious – that is the change of regime in Iran - the stalemate cannot last too long. Therefore, in the coming weeks and months we will probably see an escalation of war games, which by now have been games of muscles and nerves only, but have a potential of turning into a full-scale war.

As reported by The Los Angeles Times, the U.S. Navy is upgrading its defensive and offensive capabilities in the Persian Gulf to counter threats from Iran to seize the Strait of Hormuz and block the flow of oil.

Admiral Jonathan W. Greenert told reporters that the Navy will add four more mine-sweeping ships and four more CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopters with mine-detection capability. The Navy is also sending more underwater unmanned mine-neutralization units to the region.

On the other hand, according to reports, the Iranians have boasted that they could “swarm” large U.S. ships with their smaller, fast-moving craft. They have also reportedly been laying mines along their coastline.

In January, the chief of the Iranian army warned the U.S. not to send another ship to the Persian Gulf after the aircraft carrier John C. Stennis departed. Another carrier, the Abraham Lincoln, entered the gulf weeks later without incident.

Almost simultaneously, U.S. President Barack Obama issued an executive order titled “National Defense Resources Preparedness.” The executive order, published on the official White House website, “delegates authorities and addresses national defense resource policies” “in times of national emergency.” Several media have already labeled the document as an attempt to impose a state of emergency in peacetime. In any case, this is definitely a new indication of the U.S. readiness for any course of development in the most volatile region of the world.

And, as if to further strengthen the impression, the New York Times reported on Monday that “a classified war simulation held this month to assess the repercussions of an Israeli attack on Iran forecasts that the strike would lead to a wider regional war, which could draw in the United States and leave hundreds of Americans dead.”

Although U.S. officials said the so-called war games were not designed as a rehearsal for American military action, they have raised fears among top American planners that it may be impossible to preclude American involvement in any escalating confrontation with Iran.

So, apparently U.S. authorities want to create an assumption that a war with Iran is inevitable, and the only remaining questions are, who is to launch the first strike, and when will it happen?

The Pentagon’s Total War Against Iran Will Trigger The Emergence of A Planetary Security State

Saman Mohammadi
Prisonplanet.com
March 23, 2012

The military dictatorship behind President Obama is preparing to wage a total war against Iran. The National Defense Resources Preparedness Executive Order of March 16, 2012, is a further indication of this suppressed reality.

This executive order gives the office of the Presidency the power to impose Martial Law and confiscate all national resources to extend the life of the banksters’ parasitic war machine that hijacked America in 1913. This anti-American war machine survives on state terror. It would’ve shrunk considerably if 9/11 hadn’t been committed by the Bush administration and Mossad.

We must remember that America was put in a state of national emergency on September 14, 2001 by then President George W. Bush. So President Obama is merely following the plan. He is not responsible for Martial Law and the state of emergency. We knew Martial Law was coming to America and the West all along because of the unforgivable nature of the false flag September 11 events.

If a criminal clique within the world’s most powerful government can murder its own people in cold blood with the assistance of a foreign government and suppress that fact in the global media, then it should not be surprising to anyone that the same criminal clique is committed to destroying all obstacles in its passionate pursuit of supremacy in the Middle East, Central Asia, and the world.

A total Western war against Iran was inevitable once 9/11 happened. There was no going back once the ultimate red line was crossed by the American and Israeli governments on that beautiful morning.

So far, the Pentagon and U.S. intelligence community have constrained their power vis-à-vis Iran, and chosen to squeeze their enemy in a step by step process before delivering their most lethal blows. They have used economic, information, and cyber warfare with Israel’s help to weaken Iran’s technological capabilities, blacken its image to isolate it from the international community, and stop the flow of Iranian oil to the world market.

But the strategy to disconnect Iran economically and politically from the region and the world has not worked because it is strategically impossible. Numerous polls in the Middle East have shown that most people regard the United States and Israel as greater threats to the security of the region than Iran. Iran’s social and political capital is visible in Shiite and Sunni communities across the region.

And it not just in the Middle East where Iran is more popular and more respected than the United States and Israel. As Middle East expert Juan Cole wrote in late February, “Despite American assertions that Iran is “internationally isolated,” it turns out that the boycott of that country is a solidly Northern Hemisphere phenomenon and only partially successful even there. The US-led sanctions on and boycott of Iran have largely been rejected in Africa,-Asia and Latin America.”

On Wednesday, March 21, Chinese official Hong Lei reasserted China’s economic relationship to Iran by saying that, “China legally imports oil from Iran through normal channels in a reasonable and fair manner.”

In this stage of the war against Iran, Israel has taken the lead in order to take pressure off of the Obama administration in a topsy-turvy election year. President Obama does not want to be seen by the international community as aggressive towards Iran because such a transparent stance would discredit his image even further.

Some people believe that the Pentagon does not want a war against Iran. But it is hard to believe that. While the Pentagon is by no means a monolithic organization, it is led and dominated by a very criminal group of Luciferians who are seeking to depopulate the planet and turn America into a full-fledged military dictatorship. They need to start a war against Iran and trigger World War III to accomplish their two highest goals: global depopulation and global dictatorship.

Sure, there are retired generals and military figures who do not want a war with Iran, but until they step forward from the shadows and demand a new investigation into the 9/11 attacks, we must assume that they’re just blowing smoke up our collective asses.

As long as people are in the dark about 9/11 truth, the psychopathic war criminals and banksters will use their demonic war machine to continue their total war against sovereign states and their total domination of American and Western politics. These barbarians will murder tens of millions of innocent people in an evil world war as they have in the past.

But their machine of mass murder will destroy itself eventually. The question is what will arise out of the ashes of two dead civilizations? And the answer is a planetary security state.

Our moral duty as global citizens is to make sure that the emerging planetary security state is not a global dictatorship but a global federation of free republics, as envisioned by 18th century German philosopher Immanuel Kant in his 1795 essay ‘Perpetual Peace.’ For this to be possible, the American constitutional republic must be restored. And the age of empires must be brought to an end.

Geo and the posters have done a great job, I'm humbled by their knowledge.
How very simple it has been for the powers to achieve controll, not that they didn't work 24/7 to accomplish this, but the fact the majority  Citizens believed them or simply went along, the easy way out.
Some folks have the war mentality,  kill them all and wiggle the flag, many know its a abomination but will not get involved, there are those who don't give a twit as long as their bank account is in the numbers and in the belief only the RIF raft eaters will be effected. Some believe we are doing God's work, where does it end, tell me.
Only when the vast majority of our citizenry are effected, when their back are against the wall.
As for innocents being slaughtered do we hear of them, the baby's, children, mothers. Does our MSM display the images of the body parts and blood soaked rags of the children and moms we have genocides, NOPE.
Iran is and has been on the table for years, the A-Z *DOD- Elite scenarios are being wormed into the invasion of Iran, just as they were in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and the list goes on and will continue to. This is not about world peace, it is about eradication, the annihilation of the disposables and their Sovereignty to initiate the influx of the necons and their superGlobal supercops.. Collateral damage being the USA.

Israel Committed to Attacking Iran in June

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
March 24, 2012

In an exclusive report, Jerusalem-based DEBKAfile reports that both Israel and the United States are on the same page in regard to launching an attack on Iran.

“American and Israeli intelligence evaluations of the state of Iran’s program are in accord – contrary to the impression gained from Obama administration officials,” DEBKA-Net-Weekly reported on March 22. “Both are of one mind on the imperative to paralyze that program even by force if Iran refuses to give up its pursuit of a nuclear weapon.”

On Friday, it was reported that the United States, European allies and Israel agree that Iran does not have a nuclear weapons program. “Tehran does not have a bomb, has not decided to build one, and is probably years away from having a deliverable nuclear warhead,” the National Post reported. Despite this evidence, the Israeli government has decided to attack Iran.

According to DEBKAfile, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in a radio interview on Thursday that if Israel is resolved to attack Iran, it will have to do so within three months. In February, it was reported that Israel would carry out an attack in June and would use Saudi Arabia as its base.

DEBKAfile claims Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has convinced a majority of his Security and Diplomatic Cabinet of the urgency of an attack. “He is now backed by the two deputy prime ministers, the defense, foreign affairs, interior and finance ministers, while Intelligence Minister Dan Meridor and Minister without Portfolio Benny Begin are unconvinced. Netanyahu can therefore go ahead and safely put the military option to the vote in the cabinet for the first time,” DEBKAfile reports.

With this consensus, Barak sent IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz to Washington to meet Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Martin E. Dempsey. Gantz told Dempsey Israel would “be happy if the US halts Iran’s nuclear program in its tracks, no matter whether this is done by economic sanctions, an oil embargo, negotiations between Tehran and the world powers, or secret US-Iranian diplomacy.” The effort, however, would need to fit within the three month timeline.

Israeli officials then met “discretely” with leading members of Congress and told them about the three month timeline.

DEBKAfile states, however, that Israel “may have to part ways with the United States on the Iranian issue the first time in its short history” and attack Iran “before it is too late.”

Israel is now committed to an attack on Iran that will occur during the height of campaigning for the 2012 U.S. presidential election. The Republican national convention will be held on August 27-30 in Tampa, Florida, and the Democrat convention will be held on September 3-6 in Charlotte, North Carolina. If Israel attacks Iran in June, it will undoubtedly be the dominant issue during the convention and the election in November.

Republican candidates Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich have all expressed their support of an Israeli attack on Iran. Ron Paul is the only candidate who opposes an attack.

He has a point. Alex needs to do less fearmongering, because I've seen these stories floating around his network since 2006 - and guess what, Iran hasn't been invaded yet (covert operations or not). Chances are it'll be Syria next, the way the mainstream media are talking.

I can also see why some observers feel that Alex Jones is putting the commercial interests of his sponsors before proper fact-checking. I stopped following the show a few years back when he kept interrupting his guests and kept going on rants rather than covering news. There's a dire need for quality control there.

I love your sarcasm but a quick good search for infowars.com comes back with over 892 separate articles for a "war with Iran" dating back to 2005. If that isn't fear mongering I don't know what is. I believe alex's heart is in the right place but it is obvious he sensationalizes every bit of news for his own ends. I think he should be a little more responsible before he publishes these articles with time lines. Its just so if and when it does happen he can point back and say "I called it before anybody."

a quick good search for infowars.com comes back with over 892 separate articles for a "war with Iran" dating back to 2005.

News flash: that's because the Bush administration itself was spewing the same sort of alarmist rhetoric about Iran that it was about Iraq just a few years earlier.

Has it occurred to you that perhaps the only reason the U.S. didn't invade Iran years ago is that there were too many generals at the time who were opposed to it? Or would entertaining that possibility spoil the fun of saying it's all Alex's fault that the Bush administration didn't follow through on that particular threat?

Quote
If that isn't fear mongering I don't know what is.

Oh please, as if the mere utterance of that term automatically invalidates whatever viewpoint you happen to disagree with.  ::)

By your reasoning, Alex should have never have posted pre-war articles about Iraq or Libya, either. And he most certainly should not have warned his listeners about 9/11 nearly two months before it happened.

Why? Because even when Alex is proven right, he's still a "fearmonger" for having warned people ahead of time instead of reacting to it after the fact.

That's your whole argument in a nutshell, and it's ridiculous on its face.

Like so many other people in this society, you apparently would rather climb Mount Everest to be told a comforting lie than stand still and be told a discomforting truth.

Quote
I believe alex's heart is in the right place

Your accusation about Alex's motives clearly indicates you hold the opposite belief. Credibility stops where self-contradiction starts.

Look, if you're that eager to live in denial about everything until it's too late to do anything about it, then instead of whining all day about Alex or impugning his motives, simply watch CNN, FOX or one of the other corporate propaganda "news" networks. They'll be more than happy to tell you what you want to hear instead of what you really need to know.

IN HIGH GEAR: Advanced Preparations of U.S.-Israel War Against Iran

IN HIGH GEAR: Advanced Preparations of U.S.-Israel War Against Iran

by Ben Schreiner

Global Research
March 24, 2012

Following the highly scrutinized meeting between President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this month in Washington, consensus held that Obama had managed to secure assurances from the war-hungry Netanyahu that Israel would delay a military strike against Iran till 2013.  That is, till after the November U.S. presidential election.

According to the Israeli daily Maariv, this commitment of Israeli “restraint” had been bought with the sale of U.S. “advanced bunker-busting bombs and long-range refueling planes” to the Israeli Defense Forces, as al-Akhbar (3/8) reported.  Needless to say, such advanced weaponry would be required in any Israeli attack on Iran.

“You shall still have your war,” Obama thus seemingly sought to convey to Netanyahu, “but only in due time.”

Since the Obama-Netanyahu summit, however, indications of such Israeli restraint have dissipated.  The Israeli dogs of war are not so easily tamed.  In fact, in his latest column for Bloomberg (3/19), the Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg reports that talk of striking Iran is once more convulsing through the Israeli political establishment.  And according to Goldberg, all such discussions have assumed a rather optimistic bent.

“One conclusion key officials have reached,” Goldberg writes, “is that a strike on six or eight Iranian facilities will not lead, as is generally assumed, to all-out war.”

We learn further that Israeli officials interpret Obama’s claims of “having Israel’s back” as meaning that even in the event of an Israeli strike against Iran in the face of U.S. protest, “Obama would move immediately to help buttress Israel’s defenses against an Iranian counterstrike.”

All this leaves Goldberg to assess that Israel shall ultimately strike Iran.  As he writes, “I’m highly confident that Netanyahu isn’t bluffing—that he is in fact counting down to the day when he will authorize a strike against a half-dozen or more Iranian nuclear sites.”

This unnerving assessment mirrors that held by another favored media conduit for Israeli propaganda, Ronen Bergman, who after similarly speaking with senior Israeli leaders earlier this year, concluded in the New York Times Magazine (1/25) that,  "Israel will indeed strike Iran in 2012."

Notably, Goldberg’s Bloomberg piece appeared the very day the New York Times (3/19) reported on a secret U.S. war game held earlier this month.  The war game reportedly simulated an Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear facilities.  And as the Times reported, the exercise “forecasts that the strike would lead to a wider regional war, which could draw in the United States and leave hundreds of Americans dead.”

(The report did not specify to any detail on the expected regional war unleashed by an Israeli strike.  Nor did the paper mention any projection of potential Iranian casualties.  But why would they?  After all, as U.S. Gen. Tommy Franks averred back in 2002: “We don’t do body counts.”)

And of course, where there is smoke, there is fire.

Obama: Window for diplomatic solution to nuclear Iran is closing

Reuters
March 25, 2012

U.S. President Barack Obama said on Sunday there was still time to resolve the Iranian nuclear standoff through diplomacy, but that the window for such a solution was closing.

Obama reiterated his position on the Iran nuclear issue after talks with Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan on the eve of a nuclear security summit in Seoul.

“I believe there is a window of time to solve this diplomatically, but that window is closing,” Obama told reporters.

Obama has pressed Israel to hold off on any attack on Iran’s nuclear sites to give sanctions and diplomacy time to work, but has said military action remains an option if all else fails.

During their talks on Sunday, Erdogan spoke to Obama of his planned visit to Iran beforethe end of the month and said he would also talk to Iranian leaders about the violence in Syria, an ally of Tehran, a seniorU.S. official said.

War with Iran Seems More and More Likely

RAVEN CLABOUGH
New American
March 27, 2012

Some critics have alleged that the Obama administration has been covertly preparing for war against Iran for some time now. There is perhaps no better proof of this than a statement made by President Obama on Sunday that suggested that the time to handle a nuclear Iran diplomatically is closing.

“I believe there is a window of time to solve this diplomatically, but that window is closing,” Obama told reporters.

Obama made similar saber-rattling statements one week ago during a press conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron, warning that the opportunity for a diplomatic solution was “shrinking.” At that time, Obama warned Tehran to use the opportunity to engage in diplomatic talks with world leaders in order to avoid “even worse consequences.”

While Obama did declare during that press conference that there was still “time and space” for a diplomatic solution rather than a  military strike, he stated that the window of opportunity for that was disappearing.

On the same day as the press conference with Cameron, the Kommersant Daily quoted Russian diplomats who said that the United States has asked Russia to deliver an ultimatum to Iran that it must engage in diplomatic talks to avoid a military strike.

Haaretz.com reports:

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton asked her Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in New York on Monday to tell Tehran that it has one last chance to solve the conflict peacefully by making progress in the talks with the P5+1 group — United States, Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany. Otherwise, an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities will occur within months, the diplomats said.

Russian diplomats reportedly told the United Nations that they believe it is a “matter of when, not if” Israel would strike Iran’s nuclear facilities.

President Obama has asked that Israel refrain from taking military action on Iran’s military sites to allow the sanctions an opportunity to work, but he has asserted all along that military action remained a viable option. Israel has committed to refraining from a military strike on Iran until 2012, that is, until after the American elections.

Rand Paul Stands Between US War With Iran

Senator blocks sanctions bill saying it could be used as a means to go to war

Steve Watson
Prisonplanet.com
March 28, 2012

Rand Paul has effectively single handedly blocked a bi-partisan bill to place yet more crippling economic sanctions on Iran, by demanding an amendment to prevent the White House using the legislation as an authorization to attack the country.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) wanted to immediately pass the sanctions bill by unanimous consent Tuesday. However, Paul intervened and blocked it, in order to ensure that unauthorized use of military force against Iran does not transpire.

Paul’s one sentence amendment reads: “To clarify that nothing in the Act shall be construed as a declaration of war or an authorization of the use of force against Iran or Syria.”

“Our Founding Fathers were quite concerned about giving the power declare war to the Executive,” Paul said on the Senate floor. “They were quite concerned that the Executive could become like a king.”

“Before sending our young men and women into combat, we should have a mature and thoughtful debate over the ramifications of and over the authorization of war and over the motives of the war,” he added.

Paul noted that in the lead up to the NATO led conflict in Libya, several Senators, including John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), were beating the war drums. The Kentucky Senator warned that the same rhetoric is now being used in relation to Iran and Syria.

“Many in this body cannot get boots on ground fast enough in a variety of places, from Syria to Libya to Iran,” said Paul. “(I) urge that we not begin a new war without a full debate, without a vote, without careful consideration of the ramifications of a third or even a fourth war in this past decade.”

US Demands Of Iran Threaten To Scuttle Nuclear Talks Before They Begin

US Demands Of Iran Threaten To Scuttle Nuclear Talks Before They Begin

Richard Silverstein
April 8, 2012

The NY Times reports that the U.S. “demands” it will make of Iran in the upcoming round of negotiation:

The Obama administration and its European allies plan to open new negotiations with Iran by demanding the immediate closing and ultimate dismantling of a recently completed nuclear facility deep under a mountain, according to American and European diplomats.

They are also calling for a halt in the production of uranium fuel that is considered just a few steps from bomb grade, and the shipment of existing stockpiles of that fuel out of the country, the diplomats said.

First thing to note, successful negotiations don’t usually begin with one side making demands of the other.  Second, the U.S. position dooms the talks before they begin.  Not only is there is no way on earth Iran will agree to any of them, it won’t even take the demands seriously.  Since its government knows how this game is played it will invent outrageous demands of its own, the talks will fail, everyone will go home, and the extremists on both sides will say they tried and now let whatever happens happens.  And “whatever” will undoubtedly be an armed confrontation of some kind.

But what is even more interesting to me about all this is an interview Bibi gave in today’s Yisrael HaYom, one of those fluff pieces in which the PM gets to crow about all his achievements and the interviewer allows the “Elder Statesman” to bask in his glory.  In it, he revealed that the Israeli demands regarding Iran are exactly the same as Obama’s.  So if anyone thought the U.S. and Israel might have a different take on Iran, that we might be more flexible or pragmatic than the Israelis–think again.  We’re being led by the nose by the Israelis.  Either that, or we’re happy to take their lead and let the chips fall where they may.

Here’s what Bibi said:

The way to confront this strategy of Iran’s (stalling and exploiting divisions among its adversaries) is to demand explicit conditions calling for ceasing all uranium enrichment, removal of all enrich uranium from the country, and its exchange for material which cannot be develop nuclear weapons, and agreement to give up the underground facility in Qom (Fordo).  These are demands which, if achieved, can show we’ve achieved something.  This will be the point of the deliberation over the coming weeks.  It must be an aggressive stance with clear demands so that sanctions will really be able to make an impact.

David Sanger seems to live in a journalist world of magic realism in which there are Iranians who somehow see the wisdom in the President’s position and who will talk sense to the Ayatollah, allowing everything to be resolved peacefully and amiably.  How else to explain this bit of wish-fulfillment:

Still, Mr. Obama and his allies are gambling that crushing sanctions and the threat of Israeli military action will bolster the arguments of those Iranians who say a negotiated settlement is far preferable to isolation and more financial hardship.

What he really means to say is that there are Iranians who would actually argue that the country should capitulate to the west and give up one of its singular national projects around which every element of Iran’s society is united.

Not to be outdone, the Obama administration seems also to live in this land of magical realism:

“We have no idea how the Iranians will react,” one senior administration official said.  “We probably won’t know after the first meeting.”

Sure you do.  You know perfectly well how they’d react because if you were them you’d react the same way.  You’d laugh yourself silly if you weren’t overwhelmed by the sheer tragedy of the charade.

Sanger continues to prove himself a willing water carrier for the anti-Iran hawks, here peddling a story nowhere supported by any reliable evidence:

The shift has underscored doubts among Obama administration officials and their European partners about Iran’s readiness to negotiate seriously and to finally answer questions from international nuclear inspectors about its program’s “possible military dimensions.” Those questions are based in part on evidence that Iran may have worked on warhead designs and nuclear triggers.

The so-called “evidence” regarding warheads and triggers goes back five or six years ago to forged documents the MEK claimed to have procured from the Iran nuclear program, but which turned out to be fakes and which were peddled to willing journalists at the Times of London by the Mossad.  Notice, Sanger doesn’t offer any proof, explanation or source for the “evidence.”  He merely states it as if doing so should be enough to confer credibility on it.  Sorry, but we’ve been down this road before.  Judy Miller and other over-eager reporters took us there.  We’re not going again.  At least not willingly.

U.S. Sanctions Aim To Provoke An Iranian Pearl Harbor

U.S. Sanctions Aim To Provoke An Iranian Pearl Harbor

Saman Mohammadi
Prisonplanet.com
April 15, 2012

“As the sanctions morph into a virtual blockade, they raise the specter that all blockades do — of provoking a violent response.  Just as dangerous is the specter that the sanctions will drag on without producing tangible results, impelling covert or overt American action against Tehran to save face.” – Juan Cole, “Why Washington’s Iran Policy Could Lead to Global Disaster: What History Should Teach Us About Blockading Iran.”

“On October 7, 1940, exactly fourteen months before the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Lieutenant Commander Arthur H. McCollum penned a memorandum, recommending that the United States government provoke the Japanese into attacking America, and thus, allowing America to enter WWII with the American people fully behind the decision. The memorandum is called the McCollum memo, and there is little mention of it in history textbooks.” - “October 7, 1940: The Day That Should Have Lived in Infamy.”

“If there is no free conversation human aggression accumulates. A man who listens only to his radio or is caught by the hypnotism of the movies must discharge his aggression somewhere else. But the civilizing sublimation of conversation does not reach him, so he cannot get rid of his aggression.

"People have learned to be silent listeners. Dictatorship asks only for silent citizens. If man cannot redeem himself of his everyday tensions through words, the archaic primitive demands within him grow more and more awake. The world falls prey to his accumulated obsessions, and in the end collective madness breaks through. Let us talk now, so that we do not become mad animals!” -  Dutch-American psychoanalyst Joost A. M. Meerloo, “Conversation and Communication.” (1).

The American-Iranian talks are designed to fail.

Investigative Journalist Gareth Porter says America’s posture in the talks with Iran this weekend is based on threats and unworkable demands in his article, “US-Israel Deal to Demand Qom Closure Threatens Nuclear Talks.”

For the piece, Porter interviewed Reza Marashi, a former official at the Office of Iranian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State and the current research director at the National Iranian American Council. “The absence of any groundwork for significant incentives,” writes Porter, “leads Marashi to believe the administration plans to rely on threats rather than incentives to get Iran to agree to its demands.”
The Obama administration is taking a big risk by using the threat of violence to make Iran submit to the United States and Israel. This is not a smart move. Siding with Israel against Iran will be remembered by historians as one of the biggest factors that contributed to the downfall of the American empire.

“The Iranian nuclear issue,” wrote Flynt Leverett and Hillary Mann Leverett in their article, Iran, China’s Rise, and American Strategy, “is likely to turn out to be, on many levels, a major turning point for America’s relative standing as a great power, in the Middle East and globally.”

The Iranian nuclear issue, as the public generally understands it, is a made-up issue that is primarily used for political propaganda purposes to demonize Iran and isolate it from the world. Even people in Washington know it is a grand hoax. The national security consensus is that Iran has not decided to make a nuclear bomb.

Award-winning journalist Seymour Hersh highlighted the absurdity of America’s official reasons for sanctioning Iran when he said on Democracy Now on April 10 that, “the whole purpose of the economic sanctions is to stop the Iranians from making a bomb that we know they’re not making.”

So what explains U.S. sanctions against Iran? If it is not to stop Iran from making nuclear weapons, then what purpose do economic sanctions serve? The reasoning is very simple: to make Iran react out of desperation against America and/or Israel, and thereby provide a legal justification for the war criminals in Washington and Tel Aviv to attack Iran.

America wants to pursue a scorched earth policy against Iran, as it did against Japan during World War II. The FDR administration successfully provoked Japan into responding against America near American waters, so why not pull the same trick on Iran?

Once the painful effects of the sanctions sink in, Iran will be forced to respond in some fashion against America, and if such a response is extreme then American officials will be able to sell the lie to the American people that Iran started the fight and is responsible for all the trouble in the world.

America and Israel, a.k.a. the Giant and the Serpent, want the backing of the international community on their side when they finally decide to attack Iran militarily. But isolating Iran from the world is an impossible mission, which is why USrael will ultimately fail and will be driven out like dogs from the Middle East.

Most nations in the international community understand that American and Israeli hostility towards Iran is not based on the invented fear that Iran will spread nuclear proliferation by getting nuclear weapons, but on the very real fear that Iran reasserting itself as a regional power will significantly undermine USrael’s quest for world domination.

II. Drop The Stick, And Raise The Respect

“Already there is too much loose talk of war. Now is not the time for bluster. Now is the time to let our increased pressure to sink in. Now is the time to heed the timeless words of Teddy Roosevelt: Speak softly and carry a big stick.” – President Barack Obama, “2012 AIPAC Speech.”

President Obama should have the tattoo “Thug Life” on his chest because he is more of a low-level gangster than a high-minded statesman. Don’t let his smile fool you. Underneath it, he is a soulless demon. He has a thirst for war and destruction.

If the Obama administration really desired peace with Iran, it would take the path of dialogue and diplomacy. Setting high demands and telling the Iranians to take it or leave it is not a peace-minded strategy. It leads to only one result: war.

If there ever was a time when governments needed to work in cooperation for peace and end war as a means of achieving political goals and resolving conflicts, it is now. Starting a war in our age is nothing less than madness.

In real talks between America and Iran there would be no preconditions, and demands would be left at the door. Real dialogue is about looking the other person in the eye, recognizing his rights, and speaking freely. So far, America and Israel have not done that with Iran. Instead, they have tried to taint Iran’s image with war propaganda before walking into the room to sit down and talk. This is not the behaviour of men. It is not even the behaviour of apes. It is the behaviour of devils and demons. And there are quite a few of those on both sides. Iran’s demons are definitely thirsting for war, too.

Reuel L. Howe, a professor of pastoral theology at Philadelphia Divinity School and the Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia, explained the value and importance of dialogue in his book, “The Miracle of Dialogue.” Howe wrote:

“Indeed, the human race stands in danger of being destroyed, because of the deliberate effort of parties and nations to advance their own case by falsifying the aims and character of their opponents. With this frequently goes an ignoring of one’s own sin and responsibility, a representation of the self as being better than it is, and a sense of injury at the hands of the other, as if the fiction created about them was true. The abuse of dialogue has gone on so long that politicians find it difficult to break out of their monological fantasies and move toward a dialogical meeting. What is needed is the coming together of men of conviction from their respective camps who are willing to talk honestly with one another in the face of mutual criticism and loyalty to their own views. If these men would speak with one another not as pawns on a chessboard but as themselves in the sanctuary of truth, the sphere of public life would be transformed by the miracle of dialogue.” (2).

The hope of a dialogue between America and Iran is very low right now. Fear, distrust, and insecurity pervade the atmosphere. As long as America and Israel feel comfortable in toying with Iran, there will never be any meaningful talks amongst the three sides.

What is needed now is another American visionary – a new John F. Kennedy – to heal the wounds between America and Iran, and restore the broken bond.

But that is not enough. What is also needed is a Jewish visionary. The last one, Yitzhak Rabin, was assassinated because like JFK he was aiming for peace.

And there must be one more visionary – an Iranian visionary. Then, with the American, Jewish, and Iranian visionaries in one room, a real and fruitful dialogue can take place.

There will be endless war and all-consuming cosmic hatred of each other until the day the visionaries and peacemakers in all three countries get together and strike a deal for the ages.

“Dialogue,” said Howe, “is indispensable also in the search for truth and here, too, it is a worker of miracles.”

Maybe miracles are real. Maybe America, Israel, and Iran will mend their bridges and reconnect for the sake of the world. But it is wiser to remain skeptical and expect war than remain naive and expect a miracle.

Will Rogue Fundamentalist Christian Military Leaders Start a Nuclear War in the Middle East?

Washington's Blog
May 18, 2012

Before You Write Off This Threat … Read This

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that if the U.S. invades the sovereignty of countries like Syria or Iran, it could lead to nuclear war.  And see this.

Russia and China have previously stated that an attack on Iran would be considered a direct threat to their national security.

And Iran and Syria have had a mutual defense pact for years. China and Russia might also defend Syria if it is attacked. So an attack on Syria could draw Iran into the war … followed by China and Russia.

Of course, while the Middle Eastern wars are mainly driven by oil (and perhaps protecting the dollar) – and while real conservatives are anti-war – many in the U.S. military view the wars as a literal crusade, and see Islam itself as their mortal enemy.

For example, Wired reported last week:

The U.S. military taught its future leaders that a “total war” against the world’s 1.4 billion Muslims would be necessary to protect America from Islamic terrorists, according to documents obtained by Danger Room. Among the options considered for that conflict: using the lessons of “Hiroshima” to wipe out whole cities at once, targeting the “civilian population wherever necessary.”

If this sounds nuts, remember that millions of evangelical Christians want to start WWIII to speed the “second coming” … and atheist Neocons are using religion to rile them up to justify war against Iran.

Rep. Kucinich: H.R. 568 and NDAA Pave Way for Iran Attack

Kurt Nimmo
Prison Planet.com
May 18, 2012

Following comments made by the U.S. ambassador to Israel earlier in the week, the House has introduced H.R. 568, legislation designed to scuttle any significant talks with Iran.

According to Ohio Democrat Dennis Kucinich, “Congress is considering two pieces of legislation relating to Iran. The first undermines a diplomatic solution with Iran and lowers the bar for war. The second authorizes a war of choice against Iran and begins military preparations for it.”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7dZEoeATG8 (War with Iran Devastating to American Interests; NDAA Paves the Way to War)

Section 6 of the bill “rejects any United States policy that would rely on efforts to contain a nuclear weapons-capable Iran. Section (7) urges the President to reaffirm the unacceptability of an Iran with nuclear-weapons capability and opposition to any policy that would rely on containment as an option in response to Iranian enrichment.”

In other words, the legislation would sabotage talks with Iran that are scheduled for May 23 and all but ensure an attack on the country.

The new legislation draws a “red line” for military action at Iran obtaining “nuclear capability” as opposed to developing nuclear weapons, a new demarcation that would include Iran’s development of nuclear medicine and energy. Under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Iran is permitted to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

This conspicuous lowering of the bar is required if an attack is to take place. The IAEA, the CIA and Mossad, and Obama’s Defense Secretary, Leon Panetta, have all stated that Iran is not developing nuclear weapons at this time.

In addition, Kucinich notes that H.R. 4310, the National Defense Authorization Act, begins military preparations for war. Section 1221 makes military action against Iran a U.S. policy, while Section 1222 directs the Pentagon to prepare for war.

“A plain reading of these provisions in H.R. 4310 taken together with H.R. 568 makes it clear: Congress is setting the stage for war with Iran,” he warns.

On May 16, we reported U.S. ambassador to Israel, Daniel Shaprio, told a closed conference in Tel Aviv that the United States has completed preparations for a military strike on Iran. His comments were recorded by a reporter and aired on Israel’s Channel 2 TV and scantily reported in the United States.

America Will Attack Iran Because U.S. Leaders Want To Increase The Threat of Global Terrorism

Saman Mohammadi

America has surrounded Iran for a reason, and it isn’t to sit down and have a picnic. Washington is preparing for a war against Iran. History shows that the preparation for war leads to war. So there will be war between USrael and Iran. And Obama will play his role as the salesman of the war.

Numerous security and terrorism experts have said that one of the consequences of attacking Iran is that it will increase the rate of terrorist attacks against the United States. With that said, why does America insist on attacking Iran and defending Israel at any cost? Do American leaders want the terrorism threat to grow and spread, contrary to what they say in public?

The short answer is yes.

Terrorism keeps security goons, fearmongering politicians, war contractors, national security bureaucrats, and financial institutions in business. American politicians, military leaders, and national security officials justify their powers, salaries, and privileges by claiming their highest priority is the security of the American people, but this is plainly false. They’re doing everything they can to create an unstable world in which the threat of terrorism to America and global security is greater than it is now.

The U.S. National Security Dictatorship sees it as a good thing that the terrorism threat will evolve and get larger after a U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran. They want to keep creating enemies, killing people, and making terrorists out of disenfranchised and resentful youth. The profiteers of the war system want to preserve the war system and fight the illegal war on terror until their population, military, political, and economic objectives have been achieved.

In the last eleven years, American and Western leaders have constructed a global “counter-terrorism” state to handle what they know for certain is coming: global economic collapse, world war, and a dramatic rise in global terrorism. A U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran would trigger all three.

Thus far, the “terrorist” threat has been a dud. Since the false flag 9/11 events by the CIA and Mossad, there have been zero terrorist attacks inside the United States. This is in-your-face proof that the terrorism threat is not real.

Liberals and libertarians make a big mistake by defending the official U.S. government line that 9/11 was a product of Islamic blowback against U.S. terror. They unknowingly support the fraudulent ideological foundations of the war system and the war on terror by blindly believing in this gigantic falsehood.

The reality is that Muslims don’t want to destroy America, or seek revenge against America because of American and Israeli crimes against Middle Eastern nations. The most extremist and violent Muslims in the Arab world are the double agents of America, Israel, England, and Saudi Arabia. Examples: Al-Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, and Saudi-funded terrorists.

Western trained, funded, and armed Islamic terrorists have been used by NATO to destabilize Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, and the whole Middle East.

Conservatives who worry about the threat of Islam to Western civilization should wake up and expose the real enemies of America and Western civilization: London-Wall Street banksters, Globalist corporations, Israel, CIA, FBI, TSA, NSA, Pentagon, NATO, United Nations, Republicans and Democrats, occult secret societies, the mainstream media, the American president, and the U.S. Congress.

These tyrannical government and financial entities are responsible for 99.9% of the terrorism on this planet. They started World War III on 9/11, and they plan on pouring gasoline on the fire by attacking Iran and turning the whole world into a war zone.

i think the military build up has gone past the point of return, just like with iraq.  soon a reason for an attack will be carted out to give it some quasi legal justification.

Pushing for War on Iran. Congress Provides the “Green Light”

Stephen Lendman

Congressional hawks want war. Bipartisan support backs it. Moderates outnumber hotheads. At issue is for how long.

Saber rattling, fear mongering, and bogus accusations persisted for years. Now it’s showing up in legislation. More on that below.

Possibly a false flag will ignite another Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) for “the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the recent attacks launched against the United States.”

At high-anxiety times, options often dwindle to war. Knee-jerk congressional support authorizes it with no formal declaration. The Constitution’s Article 1, Section 8 mandates it.

It hasn’t been declared since December 8, 1941. Why bother when presidential diktats send Americans to war with no congressional opposition.

Threats don’t exist so they’re invented. False flag attacks masquerade as real ones. Body counts rise exponentially. Buildings and other facilities topple like tenpins.

When people realize they’ve been had, it’s too late. They never learn. No matter how often they’re fooled, they’re easily deceived again. Once a damn fool, always one. Relying on scoundrel media for news and information makes it easy.

Television is worst of all. Print managed news also omits what people most need to know and distorts the rest.

Ahead of the May 18 and 19 G8 meeting and NATO Chicago summit, a New York Times editorial headlined, “NATO and Afghanistan,” saying:

Washington claims “real progress” against Taliban forces. In fact, things are out-of-control. Pentagon officials quietly admit the war was lost years ago.

Even The Times was skeptical, saying the “Taliban continue to strike with impunity. Central and local governments are riddled with corruption.”

Violence rages. Afghan forces may be more foe than friend. Overwhelming popular sentiment wants America and coalition partners out.

The Times urged pressing on, saying:

“NATO must keep pummeling the Taliban….There is little chance that France’s new president, François Hollande, will reverse his ill-considered pledge to pull out all French combat troops by the end of this year.”

Times editorials and commentaries cheerlead imperial US wars and others planned. They back regime change in Syria and Iran. They turn a blind eye to democratic values and rule of law principles.

They’re silent on America’s support for despots. They oppose independent governments Washington doesn’t control. They support making the world safe for capital. They don’t track body counts and vast destruction.

War rages in Afghanistan. Out-of-control violence, instability, and human misery wrack Iraq and Libya. Conflicts continue in Yemen, Somalia, and elsewhere. America’s directly or indirectly involved in them all.

Times editorials and commentaries support more. They want governments in Syria and Iran toppled by any means. International law prohibits interfering in the internal affairs of other nations except in self-defense if attacked.

Vital issues aren’t explained. Whatever Washington wants gets support, especially when it comes to war. Commentaries read like Pentagon handouts. Fraudulent threats are hyped. Wars often follow. Are Syria and Iran next?

On May 18, the House passed HR 4310: National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013. Senate consideration comes next. Rep. Dennis Kucinich urged colleagues to vote no.

He warned about Sections 1221 and 1222. They target Iran. They’re for offense, not defense.

Section 1221: Declaration of Policy

“(1) Iran, which has long sought to foment instability and promote extremism in the Middle East, is now seeking to exploit the dramatic political transition underway in the region to undermine governments traditionally aligned with the United States and support extremist political movements in these countries.

(2) At the same time, Iran may soon attain a nuclear weapons capability, a development that would threaten United States interests, destabilize the region, encourage regional nuclear proliferation, further empower and embolden Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, and provide it the tools to threaten its neighbors, including Israel.

(3) With the assistance of Iran over the past several years, Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas have increased their stockpiles of rockets, with more than 60,000 rockets now ready to be fired at Israel. Iran continues to add to its arsenal of ballistic missiles and cruise missiles, which threaten Iran’s neighbors, Israel, and United States Armed Forces in the region.

(4) Preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon is among the most urgent national security challenges facing the United States.

(5) Successive United States administrations have stated that an Iran armed with a nuclear weapon is unacceptable.

(6) President Obama stated on January 24, 2012, ‘Let there be no doubt: America is determined to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, and I will take no options off the table to achieve that goal.’

(7) In order to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, the United States, in cooperation with its allies, must utilize all elements of national power including diplomacy, robust economic sanctions, and credible, visible preparations for a military option.

(8} Nevertheless, to date, diplomatic overtures, sanctions, and other non-kinetic actions toward Iran have not caused the Government of Iran to abandon its nuclear weapons program.

(9) With the impact of additional sanctions uncertain, additional pressure on the Government of Iran could come from the credible threat of military action against Iran’s nuclear program.

(b) Declaration of Policy- It shall be the policy of the United States to take all necessary measures, including military action if required, to prevent Iran from threatening the United States, its allies, or Iran’s neighbors with a nuclear weapon.”

Section 1222: United States Military Preparedness in the Middle East

“(1) military exercises conducted in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman emphasize the United States resolve and the policy of the United States described in section 1221(b) by enhancing the readiness of the United States military and allied forces, as well as signaling to the Government of Iran the commitment of the United States to defend its vital national security interests;” and

“(2) the President, as Commander in Chief, should augment the presence of the United States Fifth Fleet in the Middle East and to conduct military deployments, exercises, or other visible, concrete military readiness activities to underscore the policy of the United States described in section 1221(b).”

“(b) Plan-

(1) IN GENERAL- The Secretary of Defense shall prepare a plan to augment the presence of the United States Fifth Fleet in the Middle East and to conduct military deployments, exercises, or other visible, concrete military readiness activities to underscore the policy of the United States described in section 1221(b).”

“(2) MATTERS TO BE INCLUDED- The plan required under paragraph (1) shall include, at a minimum, steps necessary for the Armed Forces to support the policy of the United States described in section 1221(b), including–

(A) pre-positioning sufficient supplies of aircraft, munitions, fuel, and other materials for both air- and sea-based missions at key forward locations in the Middle East and Indian Ocean;

(B) maintaining sufficient naval assets in the region necessary to signal United States resolve and to bolster United States capabilities to launch a sustained sea and air campaign against a range of Iranian nuclear and military targets, to protect seaborne shipping, and to deny Iranian retaliation against United States interests in the region;

(C) discussing the viability of deploying at least two United States aircraft carriers, an additional large deck amphibious ship, and a Mine Countermeasures Squadron in the region on a continual basis, in support of the actions described in subparagraph (B); and

(D) conducting naval fleet exercises similar to the United States Fifth Fleet’s major exercise in the region in March 2007 to demonstrate ability to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and to counter the use of anti-ship missiles and swarming high-speed boats.”

On the House floor, Kucinich said:

“If you want peace, you prepare for peace. If you want war, you prepare for war. The NDAA prepares for war against Iran.”

“It calls for pre-positioning planes, bombs, ships, munitions and for naval maneuvers in the Strait of Hormuz. This is not about defense. This is about offense.”

“I was a third string quarterback on not a very good varsity football team and I know the difference between defense and offense. We’re preparing to go on offense on Iran which does not have nuclear weapons and has no intention or real capability to attack the United States.”

“We’re about to make the same disastrous mistake we made against Iraq. This bill does not explicitly authorize war, perhaps, but that’s beside the point. It’s licensing it. It sets the stage for it in an election year.”

“Wake up, Congress.”

On March 1, HR 568 was introduced. It expresses the sense of the House of Representatives regarding the importance of preventing the Government of Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapons “capability.”

On March 17, it passed. On February 16, a comparable Senate bill was introduced. So far, no action was taken. Expect easy passage ahead.

Ron Paul said some of his House colleagues believe the legislation amounts to “Congressional approval for the use of military force against Iran.”

IS AMERICA GOING TO WAR? Anti-Iranian Propaganda in High Gear

by Stephen Lendman

Global Research
May 27, 2012

When America goes to war or plans one, the media march in lockstep.

Articles, commentaries, editorials, and broadcasts feature Washington handout-style journalism.

Managed news misinformation substitutes for truth and full disclosure. Readers and viewers are deceived and betrayed.

For years, Iran and Syria have been targeted for regime change. Independent governments aren't tolerated. Puppet ones are planned to replace them. Scoundrel media play leading roles.

On May 24, The New York Times headlined "Iran Nuclear Talks End with No Deal."

P5+1 talks failed as expected. Washington bears full responsibility. Deal-making isn't at issue. It's portraying Iran as uncooperative for added justification to wage war.

"The six wanted a freeze on Iranian production of uranium enriched to 20 percent purity, which is considered a short step from bomb grade."

In fact, it's a giant one to 90% required for weapons making. It's especially so without intent to produce them.

Medical isotopes and other peaceful applications require 20%. NPT provisions permit it. Iran fully complies. Washington and Israel are serial violators. Their belligerence threatens humanity. Tehran threatens no one.

EU lead negotiator Catherine Ashton said "very intense and detailed discussions (left) significant differences" unresolved. They'll remain so in future meetings. A June 18-19 Moscow one is planned. Nothing substantive will change.

"We will maintain intensive contacts with our Iranian counterparts to prepare a further meeting in Moscow," Ashton announced.

Iran's chief negotiator, Saeed Jalili said:

"Of the main topics in using peaceful nuclear energy is the topic of having the nuclear fuel cycle and enrichment. We emphasize this right."

"This is an undeniable right of the Iranian nation....especially the right to enrich uranium." If P5+1 nations negotiate in good faith, "we will, of course, welcome some offer to cooperate on."

Iran didn't go to Baghdad to surrender. Its position won't change in Moscow. Washington demands it. The Times left that and other key issues unaddressed and/or misreported.

On May 26, Reuters headlined "Iran has enough uranium for 5 bombs: expert," saying:

The Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) claims "Iran has significantly stepped up its output of low-enriched uranium and total production in the last five years (to provide) enough for at least five nuclear weapons if refined much further."

David Albright heads ISIS. He impersonates a nuclear expert. He's a former pseudo-UN weapons inspector. Former Iraq chief weapons inspector Scott Ritter called him a "nuclear expert who never was."

His "track record (reveals) half-baked analyses derived from questionable sources....He breathes false legitimacy into these factually challenged stories by" claiming fake credentials.

Albright founded ISIS. It's self-serving. It shuns truth. He fronts for power, privilege, and war profiteers. He's part of Washington's anti-Iranian agenda. In Iraq, he played the same role. He's a pro-imperial opportunist.

In June 1996, he appeared once as as a pseudo-Iraq weapons inspector. His role was political, not scientific. He observed and regurgitated what Washington wanted to hear. He's doing it now on Iran. His credibility is sorely lacking. He has none.

Claiming Iran is able to produce five bombs is inflammatory and misleading. All nations with commercial reactors produce enough uranium and plutonium for bomb-making. Only a handful, in fact, do it.

Iran isn't one of them. That's the headline not featured. Instead, deceptive ones heighten tensions for war.

Rubio: “We Need To Prepare People” For War With Iran

Rubio: “We Need To Prepare People” For War With Iran

VP favorite shares appetite for war with CFR elite

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Tuesday, June 5, 2012

Vice-Presidential frontrunner Marco Rubio told the elitist Council on Foreign Relations during an event last week that the American people should be prepared for a war with Iran.

     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmTN5o1Em0o

Rubio was asked by moderator Richard Stengel, “Would sanction a strike before you would tolerate a nuclear Iran?”

“Yes and I think that we need to begin to prepare people for that,” the Florida Senator responded.
This is by no means the first time Rubio has publicly displayed his appetite to commit the United States to another unaffordable war.

During a Brookings Institution speech at the end of April, Rubio not only called for attacking Iran, but also advocated a military assault on Syria.

Speaking of Iran, Rubio stated, “We should also be preparing our allies, and the world, for the reality that unfortunately, if all else fails, preventing a nuclear Iran may, tragically, require a military solution.”

He also said that Syria should become a target for “American leadership,” in the context of ignoring UN mandates and sending in American troops to directly help rebel fighters who, as we have documented, are being directed by Al-Qaeda terrorists.

“You need the center of gravity to instigate this coalition (supporting opposition groups in Syria) and move forward with a defined plan,” said Rubio. “In the absence of American power and American influence and American leadership, it’s hard to do that.”

Rubio’s rhetoric went down well with the Brookings Institution, an establishment think tank that openly admits in its own memos that the “responsibility to protect” humanitarian ruse is merely a crude pretext for long-planned regime change in Syria.

Rubio is currently joint favorite to become Mitt Romney’s running mate alongside junior United States Senator from Ohio Rob Portman.

The Florida Senator has been busy displaying his “foreign policy chops,” or in other words indicating that he will be a loyal servant of the military-industrial complex, during a series of recent speaking engagements at internationalist confabs.

Back in April, veteran Washington Post columnist Al Kamen suggested that Rubio is a favorite of the ultra-powerful Bilderberg Group, the collection of power brokers who have directly selected VP candidates in the last two U.S. presidential elections.

Given the fact that pro-NATO Syrian National Transitional Council head Bassma Kodmani was in attendance at this year’s Bilderberg confab in Chantilly Virginia, the goal of toppling Bashar Al-Assad remains a front burner issue for the global elite.

On the Verge of An All Out War? Massive Military Build-Up in the Persian Gulf

by Ben Schreiner

Global Research
July 16, 2012

The familiar menace of U.S. war drums have resumed at a fevered pitch, as Iran finds itself once again firmly within the Pentagon’s cross hairs.

According to multiple reports, the U.S. is currently in the midst of a massive military build-up in the Persian Gulf on a scale not seen in the region since prior to the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq.  The military surge reportedly includes an influx of air and naval forces, ground troops, and even sea drones.  Lest one forgets, the U.S. already has two aircraft carriers and their accompanying striker groups in the region.

A growing sense of Iran war fever can also be seen mounting in Washington.  For instance, in an effort to foil ongoing nuclear negotiations between Iran and the so-called P5+1 (the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council plus Germany), a bipartisan group of 44 U.S. Senators recently sent a letter to President Obama urging the administration to “focus on significantly increasing the pressure on the Iranian government through sanctions and making clear that a credible military option exists.”

Such hawkish posturing occurs despite the fact that the U.S. intelligence community (as well as the Israeli intelligence community, for that matter) finds no evidence that Iran has decided to pursue a nuclear weapon--the ostensible reason behind Western sanctions and threats of attack.  Moreover, as an April Pentagon report states, Iran’s military doctrine remains one of self-defense, committed to “slow an invasion” and “force a diplomatic solution to hostilities.”  (Compare this to the U.S. military doctrine rife with notions of global “power projection” and one sees where the credible threat lies.)

The nuclear issue, though, is but a pretext used to veil U.S. imperial designs in the region.  As a senior U.S. Defense Department official recently let slip to the New York Times:  “This is not only about Iranian nuclear ambitions, but about Iran’s regional hegemonic ambitions.”  In other words, it is about removing one of the last irritants to U.S. power projection in the resource-rich Middle East.

Of course, Iran already finds itself under siege from a lethal trifecta comprised of U.S.-led cyber attacks, Israeli-led assassinations, and oppressive Western economic sanctions.  The latter of which has left ordinary Iranians to confront a toxic mix of ballooning inflation and rampant unemployment.  In short, as Conn Hallinan writes at CounterPunch, the West is “already at war with Iran.”

The question, then, is just how far this "war by other means" shall ultimately escalate?

Towards a Dangerous Escalation

Although punitive economic sanctions are frequently sold as an alternative to war, history is replete with evidence to the contrary.  In the end, sanctions are often but a prelude to military hostilities.  (One only needs to cross over to Iraq and look at the history of Western sanctions and eventual U.S. invasion.)

In fact, a recent report in the New York Times warned of much the same.  The current round of Western economic penalties imposed on Iran, the paper wrote, “represent one of the boldest uses of oil sanctions as a tool of coercion since the United States cut off oil exports to Japan in 1940. That experiment did not end well: The Japanese decided to strike before they were weakened.”

But much like the attempted torpedoing of Japan’s economy prior to the Second World War, the current attempt to bring Iran to its knees via economic sanctions may very well be designed to draw an attack from Iran--thus creating a justification for a full-fledged U.S. military campaign to impose "regime change."
