Putin Wants to Reform UN

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin

17:42 01/02/2012
MOSCOW, February 1 (RIA Novosti)

The United Nations is not a useless organization, however, it needs gradual reform, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with young lawyers in Moscow.

Putin dismissed talks about the UN’s "inefficiency" as "a cliché occasionally introduced into the public mind by our foreign colleagues, especially the United States" after it failed to secure UN support for its invasion of Iraq in 2003.

But "the UN must comply with today's realities," Putin said on Wednesday. "A country such as India not being a permanent member of the [UN] Security Council is odd," he said.

The organization’s efficiency is guaranteed by "binding instruments" that it has at its disposal, unlike its predecessor, the League of Nations, which was undone by the outbreak of World War II, which it failed to prevent, Putin said, adding that these instruments must be preserved in any reform.

The UN Security Council, which is comprised of permanent members China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as 10 elected non-permanent members, has the power to impose economic sanctions and even sanction military intervention in countries deemed a threat to international peace.

Putin did not elaborate on proposed changes for the UN but said that the reform must be approved by most member states, even if it means drafting it would take years.

The United Nations, founded in 1945, has been working on an official reform program since 1997, but change failed to materialize so far.

US Warns Iran Not To Fight Back Against Israeli Attack

US Warns Iran Not To Fight Back Against Israeli Attack

US warship remains in Strait Of Hormuz amidst simmering tensions

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Friday, February 3, 2012

The USS Abraham Lincoln warship has remained stationed in the Strait of Hormuz despite an Iranian threat that no more aircraft carriers should transit the sensitive oil choke point as tensions in the Persian Gulf continue to simmer with Washington warning Tehran it will join an Israeli attack if Iran dares to fight back in any way.

Stratfor’s latest naval update map shows that the USS Lincoln has not moved from its position having transited the Strait almost two weeks ago. Similarly, the USS Carl Vinson has also remained in its position, suggesting US Naval officials are satisfied with the strategic position of the two warships as Israel prepares to launch an attack on Iran in which the US could quickly become embroiled.

Click for enlargement.

US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta “believes there is a strong likelihood that Israel will strike Iran in April, May or June,” reports the Washington Post, adding that Panetta was likely told of the timing when Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak postponed a a planned U.S.-Israel military exercise that had been scheduled for May.

It now appears that the United States has almost finalized getting all its ducks in a row in preparation for Israel’s assault on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The Washington Post article makes it clear that the Obama administration will stand by while Tel Aviv leads the attack. The US will only become overtly involved if “Iran hits U.S. assets” or if “Israel’s population centers were hit”.

In other words, if Iran attempts to fight back in any way, which is all but inevitable, the US will join the attack. The Obama administration will then think itself justified in telling the American people that the US acted in self-defense, when in reality such a series of coordinated events is absurdly obvious.

In The "Real Non-Propaganda World", Does Iran Constitute a Nuclear Menace?

by William Blum

Global Research, February 3, 2012
The Anti-Empire Report

As we all know only too well, the United States and Israel would hate to see Iran possessing nuclear weapons. Being "the only nuclear power in the Middle East" is a great card for Israel to have in its hand. But — in the real, non-propaganda world — is USrael actually fearful of an attack from a nuclear-armed Iran? In case you've forgotten ...

In 2007, in a closed discussion, Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said that in her opinion "Iranian nuclear weapons do not pose an existential threat to Israel." She "also criticized the exaggerated use that [Israeli] Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is making of the issue of the Iranian bomb, claiming that he is attempting to rally the public around him by playing on its most basic fears."

2009: "A senior Israeli official in Washington" asserted that "Iran would be unlikely to use its missiles in an attack [against Israel] because of the certainty of retaliation."

In 2010 the Sunday Times of London (January 10) reported that Brigadier-General Uzi Eilam, war hero, pillar of the Israeli defense establishment, and former director-general of Israel's Atomic Energy Commission, "believes it will probably take Iran seven years to make nuclear weapons."

Early last month, US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta told a television audience: "Are they [Iran] trying to develop a nuclear weapon? No, but we know that they're trying to develop a nuclear capability."

A week later we could read in the New York Times (January 15) that "three leading Israeli security experts — the Mossad chief, Tamir Pardo, a former Mossad chief, Efraim Halevy, and a former military chief of staff, Dan Halutz — all recently declared that a nuclear Iran would not pose an existential threat to Israel."

Then, a few days afterward, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, in an interview with Israeli Army Radio (January 18), had this exchange:

Question: Is it Israel's judgment that Iran has not yet decided to turn its nuclear potential into weapons of mass destruction?

Barak: People ask whether Iran is determined to break out from the control [inspection] regime right now ... in an attempt to obtain nuclear weapons or an operable installation as quickly as possible. Apparently that is not the case.

Lastly, we have the US Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, in a report to Congress: "We do not know, however, if Iran will eventually decide to build nuclear weapons. ... There are "certain things [the Iranians] have not done" that would be necessary to build a warhead.

Admissions like the above — and there are others — are never put into headlines by the American mass media; indeed, only very lightly reported at all; and sometimes distorted — On the Public Broadcasting System (PBS News Hour, January 9), the non-commercial network much beloved by American liberals, the Panetta quote above was reported as: "But we know that they're trying to develop a nuclear capability, and that's what concerns us." Flagrantly omitted were the preceding words: "Are they trying to develop a nuclear weapon? No..."

U.S. and Israel Set Stage for False Flag and Iran Attack

U.S. and Israel Set Stage for False Flag and Iran Attack

Kurt Nimmo
Prison Planet.com
February 4, 2012

Events over the last several days reveal that the United States and Israel plan to conduct a false flag terror event to be blamed on Iran. The event will likely occur within the next six months and will result in an attack on Iran prior to the November election.

Obama’s intelligence chief, James Clapper (center), warned of Iranian terror attacks
inside the United States.

Intelligence in U.S. and Israel Warn of Domestic Terror Attack

Officialdom in the United States and Israel have issued a warning about an Iranian “threat stream” against Israeli “soft targets” in America.

The warning arrives several days after Obama’s intelligence boss James Clapper said Iran may strike inside the United States,

“We predict that the threat on our sites around the world will increase… on both our guarded sites and ‘soft’ sites,” states a letter sent out by the head of security for the Israeli Consul General for the Mid-Atlantic States.

Guarded sites are Israeli government facilities like embassies while soft sites are Jewish synagogues, schools, and community centers.

Yoram Cohen, the head of Israel’s security service Shin Bet, said recently that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard will attack Israeli and Jewish targets abroad in response to the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists.

In January it was reported Mossad was behind the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientist Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan.

“The thwarted assassination plot of a Saudi official in Washington, D.C., a couple of months ago was an important data point,” a nameless official told ABC News, “in that it showed at least parts of the Iranian establishment were aware of the intended event and were not concerned about inevitable collateral damage to U.S. citizens had they carried out an assassination plot on American soil.”

Cohen linked the alleged threat to the discredited plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in October. A court document in the case revealed that the FBI and the DEA concocted the plot as a sting operation and used failed used car salesman and alcoholic Mansour Arbabsiar as a patsy. Arbabsiar, who is from Iran, thought he was participating in a drug deal.

Occupy Wall Street Should Oust Facilitators, Mobilize to Stop Obama’s Attack on Iran

The United States is faced with anti-war protesters who also condemn the assassinations of Iran’s high profile nuclear scientists.

An analyst believes that warmongering groups in Wall Street provoke wars in the Persian Gulf region in order to prevent the collapse of the US currency, the dollar.

Webster Tarpley, author, journalist and lecturer joins Press TV to share his thoughts on the issue.
Following is an approximate transcript of the interview.

Press TV: Let us look at the demonstrations that were held on Saturday. On Saturday there were demonstrations throughout the United States and some other countries including Canada and basically talking about stopping the war in Iran, no war on Iran.

First of all does it make a difference to have these types of demonstrations when we look at back to the prelude of the last war on Iraq, the US war on Iraq?

We know there were a lot of anti war demonstrations being held, in trying to demand Washington not to go in to Iraq, but it did not change anything. Does it make a difference?

Tarpley: It might make a difference this time, because Bush-Cheney were relatively impervious to that kind of demonstration, even though they were not very large.

Obama needs left cover; he needs it like he needs air to breath and if he is getting an attack on his left flag from an anti war movement coming back after a long period when it did collapsed; that is a significant political problem for Obama.

I would not want to overestimate the effect, but I think it is important. We have to remember that in 2006 – 2007, there was essentially a movement, an anti-war movement that was also an impeach Bush-Cheney movement. There was also a 9/11 Truth movement and what Obama was able to do was to wreck all of those.

He essentially neutralized everything. So that when we had the attack on Libya this past summer, spring- summer; the resistance was basically nothing. In other words the protest movement was practically non-existent.

So anything that would get the anti-war movement back in the streets would be important.

We have to remember how this control is exercised. A lot of the anti-war groups are foundation-funded and the foundations were willing to fund them when it was Bush-Cheney, but now that it is Obama they are not because Obama comes from this world of the foundations, in particular I would say the sort of Soros Group foundation. So if this movement could be brought back, that would be a good thing.

Press TV: Ok, what about that Webster Tarpley, what our guest has said that he doesn’t think that really they can make a difference – those people who are out in the street and that with all the wars that the US has been in, basically the American people have gotten nothing from it.

Of course, some would argue that, that one percent though have gone even more wealthy. So, can they make a difference being on the streets?

Tarpley: Well, as one of other speakers suggested let’s take an international approach because it is not just whatever protest can be mounted in the US.

I have a point of difference. We need to distinguish the authentic anti-war movement from color revolutions or CIA-people-power cause that are being attempted to destabilize a government, say like Russia. The so-called white revolution in Moscow in my view is a CIA – NATO project to try to overthrow Putin and what would that mean?

Let us look at what we just had yesterday; we had a resolution brought into the UN Security Council that would have been the first giant step towards a war involving Syria, which would target Iran and the other forces that are allied with Iran and Syria around the Middle East.

If we did not have Putin, if we were back to Medvedev, Medvedev would have let that go through as he did the Libyan resolution. So I think we have to be a little bit more sophisticated and cagy in the international analysis, but I think it is perfectly possible.

The other thing is, this occupy did not start in Wall Street. It started in a place called Madison, Wisconsin and it started almost a year ago now with the reactionary governor of the state trying to bust all the unions.

The way you get real results is if you bring the organized labor forces; working class workers together with the anti war people, so you better have some hard hitting demands, you better have a Wall Street sales tax, student loan amnesty, a stop to all foreclosures and your anti war demands and you better not let some facilitator tie you up in a consensus straitjacket so that you do not get any demand.

Press TV: Are you saying that they can make a difference?

Tarpley: Sure they can, sure, and I think defeatism is you know, you can have the pessimism of the intelligence, but you better have the optimism of the will. Things are pretty bad, everybody knows that, but it’s time to get active, right? The old saying get active or get radioactive probably applies.

Press TV: Webster your final thoughts? Will they attack Iran or not in your perspective?

Tarpley: I think there is a real danger. I think that has to be taken very seriously. The US ruling elite is in a kind of collective war psychosis at this point . If you saw Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice essentially hissing and apoplectic with anger after the Russians and the Chinese vetoed that Syrian resolution yesterday, I think you can get a sense of the mental instability of these people.

One of the things that is driving them is the potential collapse of the US dollar and I think this maybe looks a little bit different than what was just said. There is a group in Wall Street that says, “ Start a war in the [Persian] Gulf; Close [Strait of] Hormuz or get Iran or somebody else to do it; make the tanker traffic impossible; get the price of oil up to five hundred or a thousand dollars a barrel because that is a way to save the Dollar.”

If the dollar is collapsing, you can generate a huge artificial demand with a war.

Iran: The New Scapegoat

Saman Mohammadi
Prisonplanet.com
February 6, 2012

“We cannot refasten the bindings because we now know that the scapegoats of sacrifice are innocent. Christ’s Passion unveiled the sacrificial origin of humanity once and for all. It dismantled the sacred and revealed its violence.” – René Girard, On War and Apocalypse, First Things: August/September 2009.

“Christianity destroyed sacrificial cults. Christianity reveals that our world is founded on violence. The main resource of government and civilization, in the archaic world, is the scapegoat phenomenon. The great paradox is that the scapegoat phenomenon operates only as long as it remains unperceived by the people it unites. The gospels make it visible that Jesus is a scapegoat. When people say there is no difference between a myth and Christianity, it is almost true. In both instances, the story culminates in a big drama: A victim is collectively killed and is divinized. But, in these two instances, the victim is not divinized for the same reason. Jesus is divinized because he suffers the Passion, in spite of his innocence, and he reveals their own violence to his murderers. In archaic religions, the guilt of the murderers remains invisible, unperceived. It’s the reconciliation effect of scapegoating which is emphasized as the positive significance of the process. In Christianity, the criminal violence of the murderers is revealed as well as the innocence of the victim.

"An archaic religion is nothing but a scapegoat phenomenon that succeeds, so to speak, as it is naively interpreted by the scapegoaters themselves. In the gospels, this scapegoat phenomenon fails and its meaning is revealed to the scapegoaters themselves, that is, mankind as a whole. Christianity destroys archaic religions because it reveals to us their reliance on scapegoat violence.” – René Girard, “Christianity Will Be Victorious, But Only In Defeat”: An Interview with René Girard, by Cynthia L. Haven, First Things, July 16, 2009.

Over the last several months, officials in Washington and Tel Aviv have intensified their psychological warfare against Iran. Their campaign of lies includes manufacturing a fake Iranian-Saudi assassination plot, connecting Iran to Al-Qaeda and 9/11, and accusing Iran of planning to strike civilian targets in the United States.

The aim of this onslaught of deception is to paint Iran as a demonic and irrational monster and cast it into the global wilderness to suffer the fate of a scapegoat. The death of Osama Bin Laden, who was the original scapegoat in the war on terror and was transformed into a god of terror by Washington and Tel Aviv, left a vacuum of hate and fear which Iran is filling.

Iran is a manufactured Enemy. It poses no danger to the security of America or Israel, but that’s not the impression you get when you read crazy warmongers and propagandists like Reza Kahlili, whose most recent article screams “attack Iran” with a baseless headline that reads: “Ayatollah: Kill all Jews, annihilate Israel.” People who have no understanding of Iran’s conception of its national self-interest, and its soft power strategy, believe the crap that Kahlili and others in the psychosphere pump out.

Iran is a threat not because it wants to kill Jews and wipe Israel off the map, but because it is exposing the war crimes and epic hypocrisy of the war criminals in Washington and Tel Aviv.

In times like these, when mass ignorance is more dangerous to human civilization than messianic terrorism, we need to listen to rational, intelligent, and constructive voices like Chris Floyd. Below is an excerpt from his latest article, “Runaway Train: Stop the War Against Iran — Now”:

“The Obama administration is carefully — and deliberately and knowingly — building up the Iranian “threat” to such monstrous heights that it will be impossible to back down: Tehran terrorists striking in the Homeland with Al Qaeda while they ready their nukes to destroy America — we’re supposed to negotiate with such monsters? There is only one way to save our sweet little children from nuclear obliteration — strike the Persian aggressors before they kill us! It’s a plain case of self-defense.

"There is of course absolutely no substance to any of this. There is no substance to the claim that Iran is building a nuclear weapon. And there would be no “threat” to the United States if they did build one. (And no threat to Israel either, which is sitting there with its vast nuclear arsenal, fully able — right now, in real time, in real life — to “wipe Iran from the map” at the push of a button.) The only “threat” Iran poses — with or without nuclear weapons — is to the domination of the Middle East and its oil wealth by the American elite and its international partners.”

President Obama, who promised to have peaceful talks with Iran, is leading America and the world down the road to world war III based on a series of lies and provocations engineered by the forces of endless war in the United States and Israel. These criminal forces are ready to stage a new false flag attack on American soil to scapegoat Iran for their disasters in the Middle East, which they have planned for years.

In his article on Sunday, February 5, called, “Brookings: ‘Horrific Provocation’ and ‘Tehran-Sponsored 9/11′ Needed to Trigger Iran Invasion,” Jurriaan Maessen drew attention to the kind of false flag attacks that the bad guys in Washington and Tel Aviv are planning to stage in America to justify a total war against Iran. Maessen concluded his article by saying:

“All this hinting at another false-flag attack underway and prepping the international community for a future invasion of Iran is becoming increasingly serious as the warmongering is being stepped up. This is the time to fix our eyes upon these globalists and their think tanks. If their blatant arrogance permits them to openly publish their bloodthirsty musings, we should be vigilant enough to pass this knowledge around lest we have another 9/11 on our hands.”

The threat to America of another U.S./Israeli false flag attack against American citizens, a “9/11 Redux,” has occupied the minds of many of us in the global alternative media. But something is different this year. We all have the feeling that the psychopaths in power in Washington and Tel Aviv may actually kill innocent American citizens again and blame another scapegoat for the crime.

If these crazy war criminals orchestrate another ritual of mass murder and terror on American soil and blame Iran for the event, two things will happen for sure. One, martial law will be declared in America, and the patriotic resistance to the fascist police state will be targeted like never before. And two, the gates of Hades will be blasted open in the Middle East and the blood of millions will flow like lava from Jerusalem to Tehran.

Fiver years ago, the psychopath Dick Cheney was thinking about provoking an event in the Persian Gulf that would be used to mobilize global public opinion in favour of a U.S./Israeli war against Iran, but the Generals opposed him.

Seymour Hersh reported that Cheney planned to use Navy Seals as sacrificial pawns by putting them in Iranian gear on Iranian boats and then have them strike American ships. If implemented, this barbaric policy would have led to American deaths at the hands of Americans.

On February 24, 2007, Arthur Silber warned that the U.S. government could pull off such an event in his article, “Dispatch from Germany, Summer of 1939,” comparing it to Nazi Germany’s provocation against Poland called the Gleiwitz incident. Silber wrote:

Runaway Train: Stop the War Against Iran — Now

Chris Floyd
Empire Burlesque
February 6, 2012

Almost every day brings some new barrage of fear-mongering lies and vaporous accusations from leading members of the Obama Administration and other nabobs at the top of the political-media elite, all of them aimed relentlessly at one goal: justifying military action against Iran.

It is an almost exact replay of what we saw in 2002-2003 during the build-up to the war of aggression against Iraq – with one significant exception. The “progressive” opposition to the baseless warmongering is virtually non-existent this time around – because the warmonger-in-chief is their own champion, their partisan standard-bearer. Many voices that hurled thunderous denunciations at the Bush Regime for its brazen manipulations toward a baseless and unjustified war are now silent – that is, if they are not actively supporting the increasingly rabid saber-rattling by the Peace Laureate. To them, Obama’s re-election is more important than anything on earth: certainly more important than the thousands (or tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands) of innocent people who will die in the long-running, far-reverberating hellstorm that an attack on Iran will create.

So now there is even less resistance to the fever-stoking against Iran. Yet what is playing out before our eyes is even more brazen than the build-up to the war crime against Iraq. Right now, in real time, in real life, the Obama administration and its allies in warmongering are telling the American people, over and over, that Iran is preparing terrorist strikes in the United States, that Iran is joining hands with Al Qaeda, that Iran is killing American soldiers in Afghanistan (just as they did in Iraq), that Iran is building long-range missiles that launch their nearly-completed nuclear weapons straight into the Heartland. The Obama administration is carefully – and deliberately and knowingly – building up the Iranian “threat” to such monstrous heights that it will be impossible to back down: Tehran terrorists striking in the Homeland with Al Qaeda while they ready their nukes to destroy America – we’re supposed to negotiate with such monsters? There is only one way to save our sweet little children from nuclear obliteration – strike the Persian aggressors before they kill us! It’s a plain case of self-defense.

There is of course absolutely no substance to any of this. There is no substance to the claim that Iran is building a nuclear weapon. And there would be no “threat” to the United States if they did build one. (And no threat to Israel either, which is sitting there with its vast nuclear arsenal, fully able – right now, in real time, in real life – to “wipe Iran from the map” at the push of a button.) The only “threat” Iran poses – with or without nuclear weapons – is to the domination of the Middle East and its oil wealth by the American elite and its international partners.

Yet here we are, genuinely on the brink of another war – a war which will make the mass-murdering, $3 trillion FUBAR in Iraq and Afghanistan look like the Summer of Love. Yet the “professional Left” is bending all its might to re-elect the perpetrator behind this Bush-like push for aggressive war. (And of course the professional Right is fully on board.) Can anything stop this runaway train?

In his latest post, Arthur Silber lays out a number of practical, effective steps that can be taken today to bring the danger of this lunatic course to public consciousness. They are there if anyone wants to take them up – especially those in the “dissident” world who already have a broad media platform, and could leverage that position to force this issue to the forefront.

Will anyone do it? Like Silber, I have my doubts. But the alternative is a numb acquiescence to an enormous evil being prepared right in front of us. If it happens, no one can say that they didn’t see it coming. When the thousands lie dying and the world grows darker, the only question will be this: Did you try to stop it, or not?

Will Iran Be Attacked?

Paul Craig Roberts
Prisonplanet.com
February 8, 2012

Washington has made tremendous preparations for a military assault on Iran. There is speculation that Washington has called off its two longest running wars–Iraq and Afghanistan–in order to deploy forces against Iran. Two of Washington’s fleets have been assigned to the Persian Gulf along with NATO warships. Missiles have been spread amongst Washington’s Oil Emirate and Middle Eastern puppet states. US troops have been deployed in Israel and Kuwait.

Washington has presented Israel a gift from the hard-pressed american taxpayers of an expensive missile defense system, money spent for Israel when millions of unassisted americans have lost their homes. As no one expects Iran to attack Israel, except in retaliation for an Israeli attack on Iran, the purpose of the missile defense system is to protect Israel from an Iranian response to Israeli aggression against Iran.

Juan Cole has posted on his blog a map showing 44 US military bases surrounding Iran.

In addition to the massive military preparations, there is the propaganda war against Iran that has been ongoing since 1979 when Washington’s puppet, the Shah of Iran, was overthrown by the Iranian revolution. Iran is surrounded, but Washington and Israeli propaganda portray Iran as a threatening aggressor nation. In fact, the aggressors are the Washington and Tel Aviv governments which constantly threaten Iran with military attack.

Neocon warmongers, such as David Goldman, compare the Iranian president to Hitler and declare that only war can stop him.

Washington’s top military officials have created the impression that an act of Israeli aggression against Iran is a done deal. On February 2 the Washington Post reported that Pentagon chief Leon Panetta believes that Israel is likely to attack Iran in two to four months.

Also on February 2, Gareth Porter reported that General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, informed the Israeli government that the US would not join Israel’s aggression against Iran unless Washington had given prior approval for the attack.

Porter interprets Dempsey’s warning as a strong move by President Obama to deter an attack that would involve Washington in a regional conflagration with Iran. A different way to read Dempsey’s warning is that Obama wants to hold off on attacking Iran until polls show him losing the presidential election. It has generally been the case that the patriotic electorate does not turn out a president who is at war.

On February 5, President Obama canceled Dempsey’s warning to Israel when Obama declared that he was in “lockstep” with the Israeli government. Obama is in lockstep with Israel despite the fact that Obama told NBC that “we don’t see any evidence that they [Iran] have those intentions [attacks on the US] or capabilities.” By being in lockstep with Israel and simultaneously calling for a “diplomatic solution,” Obama appeased both the Israel Lobby and Democratic peace groups, thus upping his vote.

As I wrote previously, this spring is a prime time for attacking Iran, because there is a good chance that Russia will be in turmoil because of its March election. The Russian opposition to Putin is financed by Washington and encouraged by Washington’s statements, especially those of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Whether Putin wins or there is an indecisive result and a run-off election, Washington’s money will put tens of thousands of Russians into the streets, just as Washington’s money created the “Green Revolution” in Iran to protest the presidential elections there.

On February 4 the former left-wing British newspaper, The Guardian, reported a pre-election protest by 120,000 anti-Putin demonstrators marching in Moscow and demanding “fair elections.” In other words, Washington already has its minions declaring that a win by Putin in March can only signify a stolen election. The problem for Obama is that this spring is too early to tell whether his re-election is threatened by a Republican candidate. Going to war prematurely, especially if the result is a stiff rise in oil prices, is not an aid to re-election.

The willingness of peoples around the world to be Washington’s puppets instead of loyal citizens of their own countries is why the West has been able to dominate the world during the modern era. There seems to be an infinite supply of foreign leaders who prefer Washington’s money and favor to loyalty to their own countries’ interests.

This file photo shows the Free Syrian Army members, who are fighting against the Syrian government.

‘CIA, MI6 conduct intel ops in Syria’

An analyst reveals the United States and Britain planned a secretive "regime change" in Syria in the autumn of 1957 through intelligence operations and sabotage.

"Once a political decision has been reached to proceed with internal disturbances in Syria, CIA is prepared, and Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) will attempt to mount minor sabotage and coup de main (sic) incidents within Syria, working through contacts with individuals," said a US-UK leaked intelligence document.

In her new article, political analyst Felicity Arbuthnot disclosed the document, which said "incidents should not be concentrated in Damascus" and that a "necessary degree of fear," "frontier incidents" and "border clashes" would "provide a pretext for intervention... the CIA and SIS [MI6 should use… capabilities in both psychological and action fields to augment tension."

Arbuthnot wrote that 1957 plans between then UK Prime Minister Harold Macmillan and then US President Dwight Eisenhower endorsed "a CIA-MI6 plan to stage fake border incidents as an excuse for an invasion (of Syria) by Syria’s pro-Western neighbors."

The author suggests that the old document indicates that the current unrest in Syria maybe the result of the direct involvement of Western spy agencies.

Arbuthnot said the Eisenhower-Macmillan plan was for funding of the “Free Syria Committee” and “arming of political factions with paramilitary or other actionist capabilities” within Syria.

She added that CIA and MI6 planned to foment internal unrest and replace the Ba’ath-Communist-leaning government with a Western user-friendly one.

Washington has tried to impose a resolution against Syria to repeat Libya’s war against the government of Bashar al-Assad, but Russia and China have so far vetoed the resolution.

Goal of Iran Sanctions: Malnutrition and Starvation

Goal of Iran Sanctions: Malnutrition and Starvation

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
February 9, 2012

Article 54 of the Geneva Protocol prohibits starvation as a method of war. This is precisely what the United States, Europe and the United Nations did in Iraq. They imposed a medieval embargo and tried to starve the nation into submission. The result was over 500,000 dead children, which Clinton’s Secretary of State, Madeline Albright said was a price worth paying. Over the span of ten years, child mortality in Iraq went from one of the lowest in the world, to the highest.

George Bush Senior’s sanctions, carried over by his son and Clinton, resulted in starvation, malnutrition, and disease epidemics not only of children, but the the entire population of Iraq with the exception of Saddam Hussein and his coterie.

“We are now… responsible for killing people, destroying their families, their children, allowing their older parents to die for lack of basic medicines,” said Denis Halliday, a former UN official, in 2000, three years before Bush Junior finished off the country and paved the path to the slaughter of an additional 1.5 million Iraqis. Halliday said the sanctions amounted to genocide.

Obama, the European Union, and the United Nations are doing the same in Iran.

According to a Reuters report today, the sanctions imposed on Iran are resulting in the country having problems buying rice, cooking oil and other staples to feed its 74 million people.

It is not simply oil the sanctions target, but all kinds of imports, according to commodities traders.

Traders of palm oil – the source of half of Iran’s consumption of a food staple used to make margarine and confectionary, according to Reuters – halted sales to Iran because the sanctions have made it impossible to get paid.

Iran has defaulted on payments to rice suppliers in India. Ukraine has cut in half its shipments of maize to the country.

The price of rice, a main staple of the Iranian diet, has skyrocketed from $2 a kilo to $5 while the value of the rial is plummeting. Maize is used as animal feed and the price has tripled to nearly $30 a kilo.

“Control over food confers ultimate power: prevent people from eating for a few weeks and they will not cause you much trouble thereafter,” writes Geoffrey Leslie Simons in his book, The scourging of Iraq: sanctions, law, and natural justice.

Simons quotes a writer commenting on economic sanctions imposed by the League of Nations, the predecessor to the United Nations. The writer said that in order for sanctions to be effective a sufficient number of women and children must starve.

“This is the philosophy that Washington began to apply to Iraq in August of 1009 and which still prevails today,” Simon wrote in 1998, several years before the sanctions imposed on Iraq officially ended with the invasion of that country.

It is a philosophy Obama and his fellow war criminals in Europe and the United Nations are using today against Iran.

Before long they will engage in even more barbarous war crimes after Israel bombs Iran’s suspected nuclear sites and the United States follows up with a general bombardment of the country’s civilian infrastructure not dissimilar from the bombardment of Iraqand Yugoslavia, both Nuremberg level war crimes.

So, which Presidential candidate was pushing for Sanctions against Iran (in 2006, the year before he was booted out of the Senate 2007) This guy claims to be pro life, yet loves war and imposing sanctions on other countries so that they bend to US will! (Read his Senate Sanctions Amendment from 2006 where he wants to impose sanctions, and at the same time bring Democracy and Freedom to Iran! See a mixed message there?) RICK SANTORUM ::)

Syria: Putin compares west’s foreign policy to “cult of violence”

Syria: Putin condemns west’s ‘policy of interference’

Published on Thursday 9 February 2012 02:12

Vladimir Putin has said the world faces a growing “cult of violence” and Moscow must not let events such as those in Libya and Syria be repeated in Russia, warning the west against interference in a country he intends to lead for years to come.

Weeks ahead of a March presidential election he is almost sure to win despite the biggest opposition protests of his 12-year rule, Putin also sent a stark signal to political foes that he will not tolerate threats to the stability he feels he represents.

Putin’s remarks yesterday, at a meeting with Russian religious leaders, echoed the criticism of US and Nato military action abroad that he frequently voiced as president between 2000 and 2008.

“We, of course, condemn all violence regardless of its source, but one cannot act like an elephant in a china shop,” Putin said as talk turned to Libya and Syria. “Help them, advise them – limit, for instance, their ability to use weapons – but do not interfere under any circumstances.”

A cult of violence has been coming to the fore in international affairs in the past decade,” he added. “This cannot fail to cause concern ... and we must not allow anything like this in our country.”

By raising the spectre of Arab Spring upheaval reaching Russia, Putin seemed to reveal a powerful motive for Moscow’s opposition to western calls for Assad to step down after 11 months of bloodshed fuelled by his crackdown on opponents.

Russia used its veto power in the UN Security Council to amplify that message on Saturday, locking elbows with China to block a western-Arab draft resolution supporting a call for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to quit.

Russia also has pragmatic reasons to resist political change in Syria, its last real foothold in the Middle East.

Syria has been a major client for Russian arms and hosts a naval maintenance facility on its Mediterranean coast, the only base outside the former Soviet Union for Russia’s shrunken navy.

Pakistan to support Iran against Israel

Pakistan to support Iran against Israel

The Pakistani High Commissioner to Britain has reiterated his country’s support for the Islamic Republic of Iran in case of an Israeli regime’s attack.

Wajid Shamsul Hasan told the British The Sun newspaper that “Pakistan would be left with no option but to support Iran if Israel attacks it”.

“We wouldn’t like to be seen as part of Israel’s campaign against any country. If Israel attacks Iran, it will have an impact on Pakistan as well”, said the Pakistani High Commissioner to Britain.

“We will have to safeguard our own interests. We also have a Shia population in Pakistan who will not take it lying down”, he stressed.

The Pakistani official warned Britain to help stop the U.S. "Drone Wars" that are slaughtering hundreds of its innocent civilians.

Wajid Shamsul Hasan said that his country's relations with America are at their lowest ebb.

"Patience is definitely reaching exhaustion levels", he said.

Hasan said Pakistan backs the War on Terror waged by Britain and the US.

But, he urged British Prime Minister David Cameron to condemn US drone attacks on his country dubbing them as "war crimes" and "little more than state executions".

“We know the damage - destroyed schools, communities, hospitals. They are civilians - children, women, families. Our losses are enormous,” the newspaper quoted him as saying.

“I think time is running out until the Pakistan government can take a stand. They will have to at some stage take punitive actions to stop them. They have got means to take such actions to defend their own frontier and territories,” Hasan further added.

Hasan urged the British Prime Minister to convince the US that the drone attacks were counter-productive, making the American “the most hated people in the minds of the people in Pakistan.”

The Price Tag of An Iran War Overshadows Debate About An Attack

Saman Mohammadi
Prisonplanet.com
February 13, 2012

“Captain Spock: There is an old Vulcan proverb: only Nixon could go to China.” - Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991).

Steve Clemons raised the most important point in the Iran War debate in his article, “Iran War Would Cost Trillions: Will the GOP Pay More Taxes for That?” Clemons says:

“It is ridiculous to think that a strike by Israel against Iran, that would in real terms tie the US to the conflict, would not be staggeringly expensive and consequential.

So, it would be interesting to hear from those who want to reside in the White House — and even the Obama administration which has some ‘kinetic action’ advocates on the inside — on what a more sensible financial management strategy for these proliferating conflicts, including an Iran War, would be.”

A U.S.-Israel war with Iran would finalize the financial destruction of the United States, not because of the impact of Iran’s retaliation against America’s military, but because America’s fiscal house cannot withstand the winds from another trillion dollar storm in the form of a war in the Middle East.

The reality is that America is already bankrupt, as financial expert Jim Rogers told Russia Today back in June 2011. “America is going down the tubes,” said Rogers, “we’re the largest debtor nation in the history of the world. This is a very serious thing that’s going on around us and we’re just watching ourselves sink into the sea.”

The people who are demanding the Obama administration to attack Iran without providing credible evidence that Iran poses a threat to America, such as Senators Joseph Lieberman and Lindsey Graham, must want to destroy America just as much as they want to destroy Iran.

Lieberman and Graham are not stupid. They know a war with Iran will lead to a global catastrophe, that America and Israel will have to use nuclear bombs on Iranian cities to end the war, and that America’s reputation will fall below that of Nazi Germany by the time it’s all over. But traitors like Lieberman and Graham are not in the business of saving their countries, so don’t wait for these demonic warmongers in Washington to come to their senses and support efforts to reachrapprochement with Iran.

On Sunday, February 12, Paul R. Pillar, a 28-year veteran of the Central Intelligence Agency, reflected on the courage and foresight of President Nixon’s decision to have a rapprochement with China, writing:

“David Ignatius has a column noting that this month marks the fortieth anniversary of one of the landmark events in the history of U.S. foreign policy: President Richard Nixon’s trip to China. Observing the anniversary is appropriate. Nixon’s opening to China was one of the truly great foreign policy initiatives by a U.S. president. Regardless of what else it is appropriate to think about Nixon, he deserves much credit for this achievement.”

Nixon went to China to make a deal because he knew he could pull it off. Obama does not have the same political confidence and swagger to duplicate a similar political feat in Tehran. He is just not tough enough to sell the idea of making peace with the Mullahs.

In times of crises, nations need leaders with observable masculine qualities like toughness to overcome various hurdles and get stuff done. The problem about President Obama is that nobody takes him seriously, probably not even members of his own staff. He is too weak and powerless to shift the national rhetoric regarding Iran.

Obama’s enemies in the press like Andrew Adler, the owner of the Atlanta Jewish Times, have contemplated his assassination by Mossad if he doesn’t march in lockstep with Israel. The fact that somebody like Adler feels comfortable enough to write this psychobabble down on paper shows the level of power that the right-wing Israeli terrorists have in America.

On Saturday, February 11, Alex Jones and professor Francis Boyle discussed the possibility of the threat against Obama’s life becoming a reality in this video interview called, http://www.infowars.com/entering-into-the-age-of-darkness-with-dr-francis-boyle/]“Entering into The Age of Darkness with Dr. Francis Boyle.” Alex raised the notion that Israel’s list of false flag options to get a war with Iran started may include the assassination of President Obama.

While it is foolish to rule anything out at this point, such an event will probably not happen. I don’t believe President Obama will be assassinated by Mossad because he seems to be on board with the idea of attacking Iran. In my last article I said that the globalists want to use Israel as a shield so they don’t get blamed for starting World War III.

But maybe that analysis is wrong. Maybe Obama decides to change his mind about Iran, and maybe Israel will decide that the best option is to kill him and blame Iran or some domestic right-wing terrorist group for the deed. The establishment will use Obama’s assassination to kill two birds with one stone: Iran, and the domestic opposition to the international plutocracy and Zionists.

The event that triggered the first World War was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand on June 28, 1914. Political assassinations are regular occurrences in the history of the world. They can change the dynamics of societies and national destinies and be used to advance the political objectives of various powerful groups.

But all this is just speculation. To be honest, I don’t know what to think anymore. In the environment that we’re trapped in it is tough to separate the private beliefs and opinions of officials in the Obama administration about Iran and their public statements. My radar of truth is picking up all kinds of signals that the U.S. and Israel will attack Iran full-blown style, some real and some false.

I’m sure the war-crazed demons in Tel Aviv and Washington will continue to raise tensions between America and Iran with a variety of terrorist techniques, both within America and Iran. But will they actually assassinate an American president and blame a new scapegoat when they know full well that the American people and global public will not buy the official cover story? It is too much of a risk. We are not in November 1963, June 1968, or September 2001. We are in 2012.

The false flag terrorists and secret assassins in Washington and Tel Aviv are not playing with fire anymore. The circumstances on the ground have changed dramatically. Now they are sitting on a volcano of rage and truth that will overrun what’s left of their political legitimacy if they set it off by staging another false flag attack.

The next false flag attack could be a nuclear 9/11, or the assassination of the President. Both possible false flag attacks frequently appear on the radar of Internet intelligence. I’m leaning towards the first option. There is some gas left in Obama’s tank, and the globalists need this tank to conquer more countries. Libya was a test run for the Obama tank. The real war that will reveal the durability and symbolic strength of this political tank is in Persia.

Obama probably wants a war against Persia even more than the state terrorists in Israel because in his warped mind he thinks a new war will save his presidency. And it probably will. After all, if war improved Bush’s ratings, why not Obama’s ratings?

And imagine the ratings that CNN and Fox News will get for their coverage of the destruction of Iran. World War III will be television heaven for Wolf Blitzer and Bill O’Reilly. The only thing that would top those ratings is if Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston return to Earth on a golden chariot to sing the Star-Spangled Banner right as America’s bombs fell on Iran.

Let’s hope Obama, Israel, CNN, and Fox News do not get their war of Armageddon. Let’s hope nothing tragic happens between now and November that leads to a full-scale American/Israeli attack against Iran.

Attacks on Israeli embassies, false flag ops: Iran MP

The scene of an attack on a car belonging to the Israel embassy in New Delhi, India, February 13, 2012.

The Israeli regime has carried out the recent attacks against the staff of its embassies in India and Georgia in an attempt to spearhead a psychological war against Iran, a senior Iranian lawmaker says.

Over the past years, Israelis have vigorously sought to antagonize the global community and spark a wave of intimidation against Iran, and following the failure of such schemes, they have resorted to a blame game against the Islamic Republic, even at the expense of harming themselves, said Javad Jahangirzadeh, a member of Iran's Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, in a Monday interview.

On Monday in New Delhi, an Israeli diplomat was injured when an embassy car exploded. The envoy made it to the Israeli embassy, from where she was transferred to a nearby hospital. The Israeli ambassador to India was not hurt in the New Delhi attack.

In the second attack, a Georgian national working for the Israeli embassy in Tbilisi discovered a bomb underneath his car while driving to the embassy. The bomb was defused before it exploded.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that Iran was behind the attacks.

Iran has categorically rejected the Israeli allegations, stating that the accusations are a part of Tel Aviv’s psychological warfare against Iran.

Jahangirzadeh noted that nations of the world oppose the policies of Israel and consider Tel Aviv as an apartheid and racist regime. Such global resentment, he added, is rooted in the myriad acts of terror and treason by Tel Aviv.

Pretext For War: String of Global Bombings Blamed on Iran

Bangkok joins the list of cities playing host to “Iranian” bombings

Tony Cartalucci
Prison Planet.com
Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Not even 24 hours have passed and “Thai officials” have already determined not only that Bangkok’s bomb blasts were the work of Iranians, but that they intended to target Israelis, this according to the Jerusalem Post. Anyone familiar with Thailand’s police and government would realize the utter impossibility of such a crime being solved in a single afternoon – let alone being able to draw conclusions carrying possibly war-triggering implications.

Already, the corporate-media and certified warmongers alike are pinning the recent bombings in Bangkok, Thailand on “bungling” Iranian terrorists.

US policy consultant, Max Boot, a Neo-Con Project for a New American Century (PNAC) signatory and a member of various corporate-funded think-tanks that endlessly conjure up and promote wars to expand Wall Street and London’s global reach, immediately linked the incident in Bangkok with 2 failed bombings in India and Georgia in his recent article, “Self-Defeating, But Dangerous Terror Acts.” He concludes his baseless appraisal of the string of attacks by stating:

“On one level these events are comforting because they suggest that Iran and its proxies in Hezbollah are not as skillful as generally assumed. But on another level these events should be deeply discomfiting to anyone who subscribes to the notion that the Iranians are calculating Realpolitikers who act so cautiously they can even be trusted with the possession of nuclear weapons. Au contraire: The events of the last two days suggest the Iranian regime, assuming it is responsible for these attacks, is capable of acting in self-defeating, irrational but dangerous ways. In short, hardly the sort of people we should trust with a BB gun–much less nuclear weapons.”

Boot manages to both bolster the untenable theory that Iran was behind these attacks, while using their reckless, bungling nature to illustrate just how necessary a war is in order to disarm Iran of its alleged nuclear ambitions – a war these attacks provide the perfect pretext for.

Manufacturing a Pretext for War

Of course, Boot and the corporate-media never mention that Western policy makers for years have been conspiring to provoke Iran into a war it neither wants nor will benefit from in any conceivable way. This is best encapsulated in this often cited quote from US policy think-tank, Brookings Institution:

Hollywood actor slams 'Colonialist' UK

The Hollywood actor Sean Penn has slammed Britain’s stance over the sovereignty of Malvinas (Falklands) for being "colonialist, ludicrous and archaic,” urging the UK to join talks on the dispute.

On Monday, in a meeting with Argentine President Cristina Kirchner in Buenos Aires, he referred to the disputed islands as "the Malvinas Islands of Argentina".

"I think that the world today is not going to tolerate any kind of ludicrous and archaic commitment to colonialist ideology," said the Oscar-winning actor.

Today, speaking in Uruguay having met President Jose Mujica in Montevideo, Penn repeated his criticisms against the UK and regarded the deployment of the Duke of Cambridge Prince William to the region as "unthinkable".

“There are many places to deploy the prince. It's not necessary, when the deployment of a prince is generally accompanied by warships, to send them into the seas of such shared blood," he added.

However, a Tory MP Patrick Mercer strongly criticized Penn’s remarks over the issue, saying, “What on earth has this got to do with Sean Penn? He's neither British nor Argentine and seems to know nothing about the situation judging by this moronic statement.”

Seeking to resolve the issue through diplomacy, Argentinean Foreign Minister Hector Timerman submitted an official complaint to the UN Security Council against Britain “militarizing” the South Atlantic.

Nevertheless, Britain's ambassador to the United Nations Mark Lyall Grant said the UK government would hold talks with Buenos Aires on any issue except the islands’ sovereignty.

Meanwhile, members of UK Defense Select Committee are expected to travel to the islands next month in order to visit Britain’s military installations that include a garrison of over 1,000 troops.

New Weasel Word on Iran Nukes

New Weasel Word on Iran Nukes

by Robert Parry

Global Research, February 16, 2012
Consortiumnews.com - 2012-02-15

Consortiumnews Exclusive: The U.S. news media has consistently created the impression that Iran is building a nuclear bomb and that its denials shouldn’t be taken seriously. However, U.S. and Israeli intelligence assessments may finally be eroding that smug certainty, Robert Parry reports.

What can one say when the Washington Post’s neoconservative editorial writers more correctly describe the U.S. and Israeli assessments on Iran’s nuclear program than does a news story in the New York Times? In a Wednesday morning surprise, a Washington Post editorial got the nuances, more or less, right in stating: “U.S. and Israeli officials share an assessment that, though Iran is building up nuclear capability, it has not taken decisive steps toward building a bomb.”

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta testifying before Congress,

Martin Dempsey (Defense Department photo)

You could still say the Post is hyping things a bit, skewing the wording in an anti-Iranian direction, but the sentence is essentially correct on where U.S. and Israeli intelligence judgments stand, that Iran has NOT made a decision to build a nuclear bomb.

But then there’s the New York Times. It continues to mislead its readers, albeit with a new weasel word inserted to avoid being accused of completely misstating the facts. In a news article on Wednesday, the Times reported that “the United States, Europe and Israel have all called [Iran’s nuclear] program a cover for Iranian efforts to develop nuclear weapons capability, an accusation that Iran denies.”

The key weasel word now is “capability,” which is a very elastic concept since any work on nuclear research for peaceful purposes, such as low-level enrichment of uranium, could theoretically be used toward a weapons “capability.” (The word also appeared in the Post editorial.)

There’s a parallel here to President George W. Bush’s statements about the Iraq War: Remember, after his promised Iraqi stockpiles of WMD didn’t materialize, Bush retreated to claims about WMD “programs,” i.e. the possibility that something might have occurred down the road, not that it actually had happened, was happening or was likely to happen. “Capability” is now filling a similar role.

So, instead of stating that U.S. and Israeli intelligence agencies concur that Iran’s leadership has NOT made a decision to go forward with a nuclear bomb, the Times creates a false impression that they have done so – by suggesting Iran is making progress toward a “nuclear weapons capability.”

If that wording leaves you with the notion that Iranian leaders have decided to press ahead in building a nuclear bomb (but are lying about their intent), you can be forgiven because that seems to be the misimpression the Times wants you to have. Indeed, even well-informed Americans have come away with precisely that misimpression.

And there’s another parallel to Bush’s case for war with Iraq, when he falsely implied that pre-invasion Iraq was allied with al-Qaeda, without actually saying precisely that. Any casual listener to Bush’s speeches would have made the implicit connection, which was what Bush clearly intended with his juxtaposition of words, but his defenders could still argue that he hadn’t exactly made the link explicit.

Now this sleight of hand is being done mostly by the U.S. news media, including the New York Times in its influential news columns. To state the obvious, employing misleading word constructions to confuse readers is an inappropriate technique for a responsible news organization.

Intelligence Assessments

The Times and most other major U.S. news outlets have refused to alter their boilerplate on Iran’s nuclear ambitions (beyond slipping in the word “capability”), even as a consensus has emerged among the intelligence agencies of the United States – and Israel – that Iran has NOT made a decision to build a nuclear weapon.

As ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern has noted, this intelligence judgment has even been expressed recently by high-profile figures in the defense establishments of the two countries – U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Israel’s Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

In an article entitled “US/Israel: Iran NOT Building Nukes,” McGovern wrote: “You might think that you would have heard more about that, wouldn’t you? U.S. and Israel agree that Iran is NOT building a nuclear bomb. However, this joint assessment that Iran has NOT decided to build a nuclear bomb apparently represented too big a change in the accepted narrative for the Times and the rest of the FCM [Fawning Corporate Media] to process.”

McGovern cited an interview by Barak on Jan. 18 in which the Defense Minister was asked:

The majority of the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution this week, calling on Syria's President to end the oppostion crackdown, and give up power. Russia and China are against the move, and want the rebels to also lay down weapons and join talks. It's a year since the uprising started and Damascus is vowing to reform, even as the killing continues. And a top U.S. intelligence chief has admitted that Al-Qaeda could be operating in Syria. That's led political analyst Kamel Wazne to conclude that Washington is getting friendly with terrorists.

War Propaganda Corporate Media Steers World Toward Disaster

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
February 19, 2012

The establishment media has slipped into overdrive. It is determined to fan the flames of hysteria and set the stage for a devastating attack on Iran.

On Thursday, CNN’s Erin Burnet interviewed New York’s Rep. Peter King who said Iran will unleash Hezbollah in America and the result will be worse than an attack with ballistic missiles.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUS6su29SqI (Erin Burnet and Rep. Peter King fan the flames of hysteria.)

King and Burnet threw around a slew of lies and fabrications in order to fan the flames of hysteria – from the cartoonish plot by a failed Iranian used car salesman to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador cooked up by the DEA and the FBI to highly suspect and largely inept attacks on Israeli diplomats in India, Georgia and Thailand.

Law enforcement officials in New York and Los Angeles “are keeping an eye out for potential Iranian operatives or anyone with links to the country’s proxy terrorist group, Hezbollah,” reports Fox News. The public can now expect more cops dressed in black with automatic weapons at airports, subways and bus terminals.

Following attacks in India, Georgia and Thailand attributed to Iran and Hezbollah by Israel, the United States and the corporate media, the NYPD’s intelligence boss said Iran is the number one threat to the Big Apple.

In Los Angeles, a city with one of the largest Iranian communities outside Iran, the hysterical and unlikely prospect of an Iranian attack has overshadowed intelligence briefings for weeks.

Israel is barraging a complaisant corporate media with all sorts of dire predictions, especially in regard to the safety of Jews around the world. “Iran and Hezbollah are continuing to try to carry out other attacks on targets abroad,” an Israeli counterterrorism official said Friday, without offering specific details or bothering to provide evidence. “That means asking Israelis abroad to be vigilant.”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkDZztoNOxs (Grasping at straws: Iran pulled off inept attacks because it is “desperate.”)

In Britain, foreign secretary William Hague said Iran’s drive to obtain nuclear weapons – an assertion that remains unsubstantiated – will result in a new and uncontrollable Cold War.

The Mirror – no slouch when it comes to producing sensationalized pablum of the most lurid sort – posted a story today claiming Iran is training “Al-Qaeda terrorists in advanced explosives with a view to new 9/11-style attacks,” according to nameless experts, and the “2012 London Olympics is believed to be a prime target.”

An absurd case of lies and fantastic conjecture passed off as truth is now rolling full-steam down hill at record speed and will soon result in a disastrous collision that will deal a coup de grâce to the global economy and result in the implementation of a police state.

It’s not that we didn’t learn from the propaganda campaign and invasion of Iraq almost a decade ago. Most Americans now realize that the war was cooked up under false pretense, but there is little they can do because the political system is so corrupted and captured by the military-intelligence-bankster complex.

Actually, there's one revolutionary thing all Americans could do and there's nothing that Nazi brownshirts in U.S. government uniforms could do about it: stop voting over and over again for the "lesser of two evils" and start voting for their third party or independent candidate of choice!

     http://forum.prisonplanet.com/index.php?topic=81509.msg959150#msg959150

Will the tens of millions of anti-war/anti-police state Americans finally start thinking for themselves and do this? Or will they continue to sheepishly let partisan hacks and intellectual gatekeepers in the talking point media dictate to them what their options are, and will they consequently -- under the ridiculous pretense of not "wasting" their votes -- go right on voting for pro-war/pro-police state Democrats and Republicans?

Unfortunately for the future of humanity, and much to the giddy delight of the ruling-class parasites who own both parties, history strongly suggests the latter.

America, Persia, And Israel Are Being Sacrificed For A One World Order

Saman Mohammadi

“If the Washington/Tel Aviv-promoted hysteria is already at fever pitch, wait for March 20, when the Iranian oil bourse will start trading oil in other currencies apart from the US dollar, heralding the arrival of a new oil marker to be denominated in euro, yen, yuan, rupee or a basket of currencies.

"That would suit Asian clients – from BRICS members India and China to US allies Japan and South Korea, not to mention NATO member Turkey. But that would also suit European clients, to pay for oil in their own currency. Tehran – as well as many key players in the developing world – does want to sink the petrodollar. That may be the straw to break the American camel’s back.” – Pepe Escobar, “US wants SWIFT war on Iran,” February 17, 2012.

“Most of all, it was a war that probably brought about more long-term changes than any other in history. Nothing demonstrated more the central position of Persia as a world power. With this war we see the end of a succession of ancient empires in Iran that began with Cyrus. It was also the end of over a thousand years of a complex interaction with the west. Persian civilization was, of course, soon to demonstrate its resilience by emerging phoenix-like out of the ashes into the brilliance of medieval Islamic Iran. But that would be a changed new Persia and a changed interaction with the west: with the ending of the old Persia, the old world also ended.” – Warwick Ball, “Towards One World: Ancient Persia and the West.” 2010. East & West Publishing: London. Pg. 134 – 135. The quote is from the chapter, “Two Super-Powers: Recovery, Expansion and the War That Changed the World,” about the century-long war between Rome and Persia in the sixth and seventh centuries A.D. Officially, the war began in 529 and ended in 629.

From its very inception, Israel was created to be destroyed in a third world war against the forces of Islam, the result of which will be a one world order. It is a cruel and miserable fate for the Jews and the people of the Middle East.

The people of all countries involved in World War III are victims of the worldwide and generational conspiracy which is loosely referred to as a one world order/world government plot. This global plot/conspiracy is satanic in nature, and includes the leaders of both the Zionists and Islamists, who are secretly working for the globalists in America and England to create a one world order.

In 1979, the Persians and Kurds in Iran were hijacked by Western-backed political Islamists from the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran’s religious fundamentalist community who are deeply involved in the secret global conspiracy to bring a one world government into being. The top Mullahs of Iran wear Muslim attire, but underneath, they are Freemasons part of the Illuminati who were placed into power by the shadow CIA and MI6.

Neither the leadership of Israel nor the leadership of Persia care about the well-being and security of their people. They don’t have any spiritual or psychological ties to these two ancient and sacred lands which share a rich and deep history. They view the people as animals to be tricked and slaughtered, not as subjects to be ruled and well-fed, or as citizens to be represented and respected.

In ancient times, the rulers wanted to increase the productivity and population of their lands. But in modern times, the rulers want to kill their slaves in mass wars. And this is most true regarding the rulers of America and England, where the Illuminati runs the whole show, in politics as well as in entertainment.

The leadership of America and the West is a giant death cult. George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, and Barack Obama all share dangerous New Age beliefs, and they have all talked about the need for a “one world order,” in different speeches and in various of ways.

But they don’t mention the fact that they are secretly conspiring with the totalitarian leaders of Israel and Islamic Iran to start one last world war before the coming age of universal peace and world harmony, which they promise will dawn after the ritual of bloodshed.

They keep the people in the dark and feed them totalitarian lies because in their warped minds the people are worse than animals or slaves. To them, the people are a cancerous plague to be wiped off the planet like lice, while they are the gods and creators of a new world.

The dark agents of Satan who want to create a one world dictatorship view themselves as friends of mankind, but they are deluded and disturbed mental patients. In reality, they are the greatest enemies of humanity in the history of the world.

They belong in Hell, not on Earth, and certainly not in positions of power where they are able to control the minds of the people in secret and dictate the collective destiny of the human species.

Pepe Escobar sums it up ...

US wants SWIFT war on Iran
By Pepe Escobar

What was the parade of European poodles thinking - that Tehran would just roll over and absorb the European Union's oil embargo, scheduled to start on July 1?

No wonder Brussels was caught as a Gucci deer in the headlights when the news started to flow that Tehran would pre-empt the move and immediately slap its own embargo of crude oil exports to six European Union countries - deeply in crisis Club Med members Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain plus recession-hit France and the Netherlands.

It took virtually no time for Iran's Oil Ministry and then the Foreign Ministry to deny it; such a decision, technically, would have to be officially announced by the Supreme National Security Council, which also deals with the nuclear negotiations.

But only the deaf, dumb and blind wouldn't understand the message; blowback for the ridiculously counter-productive European sanctions/oil embargo package will only plunge vast swathes of Europe further into deep economic pain.

Iran supplies 500,000 barrels of oil a day to the EU. The mere threat of an Iranian embargo has already provoked an oil price spike.

Assuming Club Med countries would be able to get oil from other sources - and that's not a given; Saudi Arabia wants high oil prices with a vengeance - they would have to reconfigure their refineries to process it. Inevitably there would be shortages of gasoline; the average Italian, for instance, is already furious with the skyrocketing price of gas at the pump.

Perhaps those tens of thousands of useless Brussels bureaucrats carrying their multicolored files up and down should do something meaningful and send a letter to Washington officially congratulating the Americans for further impoverishing tens of millions of EU citizens.

When in doubt, slap more sanctions

Yet the vultures, jackals and hyenas of regime change/war can never be appeased in their sanction lust. The US is now forcing the EU to cut off Iran from Brussels-based SWIFT - the independent telecom mechanism/clearinghouse used by every bank in the world to exchange financial data (its official name is Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications). Iran's Central Bank itself may become a victim.

In a nutshell, SWIFT is the wheel that moves global financial transactions and trade. So if this is not an extended, remixed declaration of hardcore economic war against one country - nothing else is.

Will it work? Hardly. It will certainly represent more devastation unleashed over "the Iranian people" - the vague entity of choice against which the US has "no quarrel". More than 40 Iranian banks use SWIFT to process financial transactions, and Iranians use it like everybody else in a globalized economy.

It will drag SWIFT's carefully maintained reputation for trust and neutrality through the mud; imagine other member countries' reaction to the fact they can also be totally marginalized according to the US's whims.

Not to mention that Washington cannot tell SWIFT what to do; thus it is not so subtly applying "pressure", Mafia-style, on the Europeans. The "message" was delivered in person by David Cohen, the US Treasury Department's undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence.

And all this for what? According to the relentless, suffocating barrage of spin in Western corporate media, to "perhaps" buy some time so the Obama administration can "persuade" the warmongering, nuclear-armed Likud government in Israel not to attack Iran this coming spring.

Watch that American camel

Meanwhile, according to Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, the country has developed fourth-generation centrifuges made of carbon fiber that are "speedier, produce less waste and occupy less space" as they spin at supersonic speeds to purify uranium.

And the first made-in-Iran 20% enriched fuel rods have been installed at the Tehran Research Reactor - not a bomb factory but a civilian plant designed to produce medical isotopes for cancer treatment; this should allow the Research Reactor to operate independently of any foreign interference.

To top it off, Tehran sent a letter to the EU "welcoming" the P5+1 - the UN Security Council veto members plus Germany - if they seriously want to go back to the table for meaningful negotiations about the Iranian nuclear dossier.

Let's see what this means.

It's a very sophisticated Persian miniature - to be decoded by the Europeans who bother. Tehran is saying; we sincerely want to talk to you; but we won't give up on our civilian nuclear program; and if you keep treating us like dogs, with these sanctions, embargo and now the SWIFT move, we can apply a lot of pressure on your already stricken economies.

Anyone betting on clueless European politicians and their sherpas understanding this is hardly guaranteed to hit a jackpot.

Then there's the stupid argument that the recent bombings and failed bombings in Delhi, Georgia and Bangkok represent Tehran's retaliation for the murder of five civilian nuclear scientists in Iran - conducted by the Iranian terrorist group MeK under the orders of the Israeli Mossad.

If and when Tehran decides to target Israeli interests, it may be able to do it closer to home, and it has the competent operatives to do it without a trace. The notion that Tehran would send Iranian agents to friendly Asian countries such as India and Thailand - and in the case of the Three Stooges in Bangkok openly displaying their passports and even rials - is ludicrous beyond belief. These are patsies; the question is to find out who's manipulating them.

If the Washington/Tel Aviv-promoted hysteria is already at fever pitch, wait for March 20, when the Iranian oil bourse will start trading oil in other currencies apart from the US dollar, heralding the arrival of a new oil marker to be denominated in euro, yen, yuan, rupee or a basket of currencies.

That would suit Asian clients - from BRICS members India and China to US allies Japan and South Korea, not to mention NATO member Turkey. But that would also suit European clients, to pay for oil in their own currency. Tehran - as well as many key players in the developing world - does want to sink the petrodollar. That may be the straw to break the American camel's back.

Consequences To Expect If The U.S. Invades Iran

Brandon Smith
Prisonplanet.com
February 20th, 2012

Let’s be honest, quite a few Americans love a good war, especially those Americans who have never had to bear witness to one first hand.  War is the ultimate tribally vicarious experience.  Anyone, even pudgy armchair generals with deep-seated feelings of personal inadequacy, can revel in the victories and actions of armies a half a world away as if they themselves stood on the front lines risking possible annihilation at the hands of dastardly cartoon-land “evil doers”.  They may have never done a single worthwhile thing in their lives, but at least they can bask in the perceived glory of their country’s military might.

This attitude of swollen ego through proxy is not limited to the “Right” side of the political spectrum as some might expect.  In fact, if the terrifyingly demented presidency of Barack Obama has proven anything so far, it is that elements of the “Left” are just as bloodthirsty as any NeoCon, and just as ready to blindly support the political supremacy of their “side” regardless of any broken promises, abandoned principles, or openly flaunted hypocrisies.  No matter how reasonable or irrefutable the arguments against a particular conflict are, there will always be a certain percentage of the populace which ignores all logic and barrels forward to cheerlead violent actions which ultimately only benefit a select and elite few.

They do this, though they rarely openly admit it, because of unbalanced and irrational biases which drive their decision making processes.  In the case of the wars in the Middle East, the common public argument boils down to one of “self defense”.  “They are coming to get us!”  At least, that is what we are constantly told.  And I’m sure that some Americans out there truly believe this.  However, in their heart of hearts, others instead relish the idea of imposing their world views and philosophical systems upon others, even if it means using cluster bombs and predator drones.

The 10 Most Excellent Reasons to Attack Iran

Washington’s Blog
February 21, 2012

Reasons to Attack Iran

By leading anti-war activist David Swanson, author of Day Break and War Is A Lie, who runs the websites DavidSwanson.org and WarIsACrime.org (formerly AfterDowningStreet.org)

1. Iran has threatened to fight back if attacked, and that’s a war crime. War crimes must be punished.

2. My television says Iran has nukes. I’m sure it’s true this time. Just like with North Korea. I’m sure they’re next. We only bomb places that really truly have nukes and are in the Axis of Evil. Except Iraq, which was different.

3. Iraq didn’t go so badly. Considering how lousy its government is, the place is better off with so many people having left or died. Really, that one couldn’t have worked out better if we’d planned it.

4. When we threaten to cut off Iran’s oil, Iran threatens to cut off Iran’s oil, which is absolutely intolerable. What would we do without that oil? And what good is buying it if they want to sell it?

5. Iran was secretly behind 9-11. I read it online. And if it wasn’t, that’s worse. Iran hasn’t attacked another nation in centuries, which means its next attack is guaranteed to be coming very soon.

6. Iranians are religious nuts, unlike Israelis and Americans. Most Israelis don’t want to attack Iran, but the Holy Israeli government does. To oppose that decision would be to sin against God.

7. Iranians are so stupid that when we murder their scientists they try to hire a car dealer in Texas to hire a drug gang in Mexico to murder a Saudi ambassador in Washington, and then they don’t do it — just to make us look bad for catching them.

7. b. Oh, and stupid people should be bombed. They’re not civilized.

8. War is good for the U.S. economy, and the Iranian economy too. Troops stationed in Iran would buy stuff. And women who survived the war would have more rights. Like in Virginia. We owe Iranians this after that little mishap in 1953.

9. This is the only way to unite the region. Either we bomb Iran and it swears its eternal love to us. Or, if necessary, we occupy Iran to liberate it like its neighbors. Which shouldn’t take long. Look how well Afghanistan is going already.

10. They won’t give our drone back. Enough said.

Irresponsible Anti-Iranian Fear-Mongering

by Stephen Lendman

Global Research
February 23, 2012

Irresponsible anti-Iranian political and pack journalism rhetoric sound ominously like spurious Iraqi WMD threats in the run-up to the 2003 war.

In his January State of the Union address, Obama said:

"Let there be no doubt: America is determined to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon and I will take no options off the table to achieve that goal."

At the same time, Netanyahu told Israel's Knesset:

"Only a combination of crippling sanctions and putting all the options on the table can make Iran stop" its nuclear program.

Republican presidential aspirants also use the issue irresponsibly. Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum all support bombing Iran's nuclear sites and assassinating its scientists. Only Ron Paul's strongly opposed but hawkish din drowns him out.

Daily reports heighten the alleged "Iranian threat." Multiple rounds of sanctions were imposed. In late January, Israel's Mossad connected DEBKAfile reported Obama ordering a "massive US military buildup around Iran: up to 100,000 troops by March."

America's heaviest concentration of regional might matches its strength before invading Iraq in 2003. DEBKA suggested "May as (a) tentative date for clash(ing) with Iran."

On February 22, DEBKA stoked more fear headlining,"Iran cuts down to six weeks timeline for weapons-grade uranium," saying:

"Tehran this week hardened its nuclear and military policies in defiance of tougher sanctions and ahead of international nuclear talks."

Washington, NATO allies, Israel, and IAEA inspectors know Iran poses no nuclear threat. Nonetheless, pro-Western IAEA head Yukiya Amano said Tuesday night:

"It is disappointing that Iran did not accept our request to visit Parchin during the first or second meetings. We engaged in a constructive spirit, but no agreement was reached."

DEBKA claims its where Tehran "conducts experiments in nuclear explosives and triggers."

In fact, no evidence suggests Parchin Military Complex conducts nuclear related activities. IAEA's been there before, took environmental samples, and found nothing. Parchin manufactures and tests conventional explosives.

IAEA found none consistent with nuclear weapons research and development. Amano knows it but stoked tensions anyway. So did IAEA's Herman Nackaerts saying its team members "could not find a way forward." As a result, talks were "inconclusive."

John Bolton’s One Trick Pony: Iran’s Imaginary Nuke

Kurt Nimmo
Prison Planet.com
February 24, 2012

Earlier this week, former recess appointed United Nations representative John Bolton wrote an op-ed for the Moonie newspaper The Washington Times. In the article, Bolton once again tries to drum up fear and loathing over the dismal at best prospect of Iran developing a nuclear weapon.

Bolton claims Iran’s “nuclear activities are broad and deep, and it is close to winning the strategically important race to the nuclear-weapons finish line,” a claim completely at odds with the assessment of 16 U.S. intelligence agencies that says Iran is conducting research that could eventually enable it to develop a nuclear weapon, but that it is not doing so.

“I worry the publicly available information is giving only a very small picture and that Iran is actually even much further along,” Bolton told WorldNetDaily’s Aaron Klein in January. All the Iranians need to do, he insisted, is put their noses to the grindstone and they will have a nuke they can lob at Israel.

It’s fantasy, but one the so-called Bush era “Vulcans” consistently harp on from the dotage of their enforced retirement at think-tanks and from limelight bully pulpits at Fox News.

Bolton and his neocon cohorts know all about the 2007 National Intelligence Estimate that concluded with “high confidence” that the Islamic republic halted an effort to develop nuclear weapons in the fall of 2003, but that fact – now confirmed by 16 intelligence agencies – will not stop them from engaging in their Chicken Little act.

“Although Iran continues to enrich uranium at low levels, U.S. officials say they have not seen evidence that has caused them to significantly revise that judgment,” the Los Angeles Times reported on February 23. “Senior U.S. officials say Israel does not dispute the basic intelligence or analysis.”

Tucker Carlson: The U.S. Has the Moral Authority to Annihilate Iran Because They’re Evil

Tucker Carlson says (hat tip Carl Herman) that the U.S. has the moral authority to annihilate Iran because they’re evil.

       http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83LDtji3iEY

What makes Iran evil?

Quite a few evangelical Christians think that all Muslims are evil, and Islam is the work of the devil. *  And the war on terror has largely been a religious crusade (as well as a campaign to liberate Middle Eastern oil.)

Moreover, there is a widespread myth repeated by American media and politicians that Iran’s President (Ahmadinejad) said that Israel should be “wiped off the map”.

As a New York Times translation notes, Ahmadinejad wasn’t referring to Israel at all, but to the “regime” – i.e. the current political administration - in Israel.

Moreover, it was not Ahmadinejad himself speaking. He was quoting Ayatollah Khomeini, who died in1989 (and who looked exactly like Sean Connery’s evil twin).

Arash Norouzi – who despises Iran’s current leadership as a “backward regime” – notes:

------------------

What did Ahmadinejad actually say? To quote his exact words in Farsi:

“Imam ghoft een rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad.”

That passage will mean nothing to most people, but one word might ring a bell: rezhim-e. It is the word “regime.” pronounced just like the English word with an extra “eh” sound at the end. Ahmadinejad did not refer to Israel the country or Israel the land mass, but the Israeli regime. This is a vastly significant distinction, as one cannot wipe a regime off the map. Ahmadinejad does not even refer to Israel by name, he instead uses the specific phrase “rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods” (regime occupying Jerusalem).

So this raises the question.. what exactly did he want “wiped from the map”? The answer is: nothing. That’s because the word “map” was never used. The Persian word for map, “nagsheh” is not contained anywhere in his original Farsi quote, or, for that matter, anywhere in his entire speech. Nor was the western phrase “wipe out” ever said.Yet we are led to believe that Iran’s president threatened to “wipe Israel off the map.” despite never having uttered the words “map.” “wipe out” or even “Israel.”

***

The full quote translated directly to English:

“The Imam said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time.”

Word by word translation:

Imam (Khomeini) ghoft (said) een (this) rezhim-e (regime) ishghalgar-e (occupying) qods (Jerusalem) bayad (must) az safheh-ye ruzgar (from page of time) mahv shavad (vanish from).

------------------

As the New York Times pointed out:

    R. Nicholas Burns, the under secretary of state for political affairs, recently: “Given the radical nature of Iran under Ahmadinejad and its stated wish to wipe Israel off the map of the world, it is entirely unconvincing that we could or should live with a nuclear Iran.” But is that what Mr. Ahmadinejad said? And if so, was it a threat of war?

For months, a debate among Iran specialists over both questions has been intensifying. It starts as a dispute over translating Persian but quickly turns on whether the United States (with help from Israel) is doing to Iran what some believe it did to Iraq building a case for military action predicated on a faulty premise. “Ahmadinejad did not say he was going to wipe Israel off the map because no such idiom exists in Persian,” remarked Juan Cole, a Middle East specialist at the University of Michigan and critic of American policy who has argued that the Iranian president was misquoted.

“He did say he hoped its regime, i.e., a Jewish-Zionist state occupying Jerusalem, would collapse.” Since Iran has not “attacked another country aggressively for over a century,” he said in an e-mail exchange, “I smell the whiff of war propaganda.”

Jonathan Steele, a columnist for the left-leaning Guardian newspaper in London, recently laid out the case this way:

The Iranian president was quoting an ancient statement by Iran’s first Islamist leader, the late Ayatollah Khomeini, that ‘this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time,’ just as the Shah’s regime in Iran had vanished. He was not making a military threat. He was calling for an end to the occupation of Jerusalem at some point in the future. The ‘page of time’ phrase suggests he did not expect it to happen soon.

In fact, many orthodox Jews are opposed to Zionism. Whether Zionism is a good or bad political movement is open to debate. But Iran’s dislike of the Zionist regime is not the same as calling for Israel to be wiped off the map … in the same way that disliking the Bush administration or the Obama administration is not the same as calling for the destruction of America.

In terms of the U.S. having “moral authority” to annihilate Iran, perhaps Mr. Carlson thinks that America’s overthrow of Iran’s democratically-elected government, backing of Iraq in the war against Iran, and support of terrorist groups trying to overthrow the Iranian government give us the moral authority to continue to attack Iran.

* I am from the Judeo-Christian tradition, and am accepting of both Jews and Christians.  Please remember that Christian writer and Army psychiatrist M. Scott Peck explained that there are different stages of spiritual maturity. Fundamentalism – whether it be Muslim, Christian, Jewish or Hindu fundamentalism – is an immature stage of development. Indeed, a Christian fundamentalist who kills others in the name of religion is much more similar to a Muslim fundamentalist who kills other in the name of his religion than to a Christian who peacefully fights for justice and truth, helps the poor, or serves to bring hope to the downtrodden.

5 Reasons Iran is NOT a Threat to the U.S.

5 Reasons Iran is NOT a Threat to the U.S.

Activist Post
February 27, 2012

The Obama Administration, by Executive Order, has moved another step closer to preemptive war with Iran by declaring a National Emergency to deal with this supposed threat.  A National Emergency, which gives the president extraordinary power to subvert the Constitution, is legally defined as “A situation beyond the ordinary which threatens the health or safety of citizens and which cannot be properly addressed by the use of other law.”

Given the immense power the executive receives during such “emergencies”, one would think the U.S. must face a clear and present danger in order to justify such actions.  Yet, all recent wars fought by America and paid for by U.S. tax dollars were preceded by little more than an Executive Order declaring a national emergency.  And, notably, the president makes these declarations without the need for a vote by the Congress as stipulated by the U.S. Constitution.

So what has changed with Iran that now requires a National Emergency?  It seems the U.S. is just itching for another fight, because it’s clear that Iran poses no threat to the ‘health and safety’ of U.S. citizens that cannot be dealt with by ‘other laws’.

Here are 5 reasons why a National Emergency should not be declared to deal with Iran:

Never Attacked US: Iran has never attacked the United States, or even any of her interests overseas.  In fact, they have not attacked or invaded anyone in at least 270 years. And they haven’t even threatened to harm the U.S. unless of course they are attacked first.  Do we want to continue to be a nation that attacks others without provocation, or one that defends our country against genuine aggressors?  Iran is not an aggressor and certainly not a national emergency threat.

No Nuclear Weapon: Claims that Iran is developing a nuclear weapon seems to be the only argument warmongers have to suggest a preemptive strike.  Yet, all U.S. intelligence agencies universally agree that Iran does not have a nuclear weapons program.  Even if they did, why is that a reason to attack them?  Just having a weapon doesn’t make a country a threat.  Plenty of countries have nuclear weapons and we don’t consider them a threat.

Self Preservation: Iran will not attack the West militarily with a nuclear weapon, or even conventionally, because they know they would be inviting their immediate destruction.  Iran is a sophisticated secular society, much like Iraq was before America invaded. In fact, Iran has the third largest Jewish population in the world who live in harmony with Muslims and others.  In other words, they have a lot to lose to invite war with anyone, and they know that any move viewed as aggression would be met with swift and overwhelming force. The West wants the world to believe their leadership is primitive and stupid, but they aren’t.

Surrounded By U.S. Bases: Over 45 U.S. bases surround Iran.  These bases are in addition to the fleets of U.S. warships parked in waters near Iran. A picture is worth a thousand words.  Who’s the real threat here?

Stars represent U.S. bases

Conventional War is Obsolete: Iran actually has a modern armed forces that could fight back conventionally. However, conventional war is completely obsolete.  It should be likened to sticks and stones compared to the known advanced technology the world powers possess.  Besides nuclear weapons and other WMDs, there are secret weather weapons, space-based weapons, microwave weapons etc.  Russia admits to having a weather weapon that can destroy the U.S. in 15 minutes.  Surely America and Europe have the same technology, and probably China, too.  These make conventional warfare nothing more than manufactured violence for economic control and managed population reduction.  Again, Iran represents nothing resembling a threat to America in the face of such technology.

America was never attacked or even threatened with attack by Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, or Somalia. Yet by executive decree, taxpayers continue to fund the U.S. war machine to murder and maim innocent civilians in those countries.  Conveniently, the “war on terror” has given America the excuse to preemptively strike any nation who is said to oppose them.  And it seems Iran is next unless the American people stop living in fear of manufactured threats.

Media War Enters New Stage Ahead of Iran Attack: The NBC-Greenwald Debate Is A Sign of Future Discord

Saman Mohammadi
Prisonplanet.com
March 1, 2012

The global infowar is intensifying. The minds of men and women are awakening worldwide. The truth that the 9/11 terror attacks were committed by the shadow totalitarian governments in Israel and the United States is reaching global critical mass.

But as night falls, the armies of propaganda in the world press are once again advancing on the global information battlefield with the goal to brainwash the global public of a “looming threat” to the international system.

In 2002, it was Iraq. This time the target is Iran. NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox News, PBS, CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Time Magazine are all lining up their troops to wage a info-military assault on the American public mind in preparation for a U.S.-Israeli-Saudi preemptive strike on Iran.

But Iran is not Iraq, and 2012 is not 2002. The dynamics of the global information battlefield have changed considerably in a decade. Global info-warriors have planted mines of truth on the route to war with Iran. The global alternative media is countering military propaganda from Washington, London, and Tel Aviv with fact-based reports and analysis.

At Salon.com, Glenn Greenwald delivered a serious blow against the military-industrial complex and its media allies in an article called, Gen. McCaffrey privately briefs NBC execs on war with Iran.” Highlighted in the article is a PowerPoint presentation called, Iran, Nukes & Oil: The Gulf Confrontation,” that was given by McCaffrey to his info-lapdogs at NBC on January 12, 2012.

In the presentation, McCaffrey repeats standard propaganda and baseless talking points about the “Iranian nuclear threat,” and why Israel will be forced to act preemptively to defend itself from a second Holocaust. Here are two essential points from the fact-free presentation:

“The Israelis lack any credible conventional military power to counter the Iranian nuclear threat. Their forced option would be pre-emptive nuclear strike.”

“There is a significant chance of Iranian miscalculation resulting in major military confrontation in the Gulf in the coming 12 months.”

With the first point, McCaffrey is suggesting three things. 1) Israel does not have the sufficient military power to deal a decisive blow to Iran’s nuclear program, so America must take the lead and do it right. 2) There is an Iranian nuclear threat, which is a big lie, because it has not been proven by America, Israel, and the IAEA that Iran is building a nuclear weapon. And 3) Israel is not acting as a criminal aggressor and terrorist state, but as a moral defender whose national security and people are under the constant threat of a second Holocaust from a nuclear Iran. This is also a big lie.

With the second point, McCaffrey totally spins reality on its head in order to blame Iran for an upcoming, full-scale war. Iran defending itself from Israeli and American aggression is misrepresented as “Iranian miscalculation.” That’s like Al-Qaeda saying America miscalculated by going to war in Afghanistan to avenge the victims of the September 11 attacks.

The reality that Iran is a victim of U.S.-Israeli terrorism and aggression is suppressed totally by the Western media.

McCaffrey and other Pentagon Generals find it easier to suppress the truth than face the reality of U.S.-Israeli terrorism because their own lives are on the line. They are war criminals who want to take over the world in order to escape punishment for their war crimes and crimes against humanity. They deal in lies and falsehoods everyday of their lives, so it is completely natural for them to lie about the Iranian threat to Israel and America.

Greenwald and Salon.com are doing heroic work by exposing NBC’s propaganda warfare strategy against the American people, which is led by the Pentagon.

In response to Greenwald’s article, the desperate propagandists at NBC responded: “The Salon piece is a woefully inaccurate, ignorant, insulting depiction of our editorial process.” This is a poor attempt by NBC’s info-terrorists to save face, and pretend that hosting war criminals in their editorial boardrooms is proper public etiquette.

Greenwald responded to NBC, saying that, “despite its opening flurry of accusations, NBC does not even purport to identify a single inaccuracy in any thing I reported. Replies like this one — that are long on screeching invective and short on any identified inaccuracies — do more to bolster the validity of the original article than anything else could.”

The only hope we have of stopping the war-crazed maniacs in Tel Aviv, London, and Washington is educating the global general public that Iran is not a threat to Israel, America, and the world, and that a war against Iran is completely unnecessary, inhumane, barbaric, and criminal.

The global establishment media is doing everything it can to misinform and frighten people about Iran. Now is the time for the global alternative media and the Internet Generation to come up big and educate the world about 9/11 truth, the false war on terror, and the exaggerated Iranian threat. We must work ten times harder to disprove the fear-based narratives and propaganda lies that are pumped out daily about Iran by NBC and the presstitute media.

The path of truth, justice, fairness, and righteousness will lead to mankind’s salvation and liberation during this global political, economic, military, and spiritual crisis.

Obama’s Red Line: War with Iran has just gotten more likely

Obama’s Red Line

War with Iran has just gotten more likely

by Justin Raimondo
Antiwar.com
March 05, 2012

"“We’ve got Israel’s back" – that is the message President Obama sent out ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the US for a crucial summit at the White House, and he did it in an interview granted to one of the leading pro-Israel voices in the media, Jeffrey Goldberg, former Israeli prison guard and IDF soldier, now a columnist for The Atlantic. In that interview, Obama basically telegraphed his capitulation to the Israelis, who are demanding the establishment of “red lines” Iran may not cross without provoking an attack:

“Our assessment, which is shared by the Israelis, is that Iran does not yet have a nuclear weapon and is not yet in a position to obtain a nuclear weapon without us having a pretty long lead time in which we will know that they are making that attempt.”

Here is the “red line” the Israelis have been demanding: not the act of building a nuclear weapon but evidence “they are making that attempt.” That is, evidence of their intent to do so, without any corroborating evidence they’ve actually succeeded. The catch is that such an “assessment” based on fresh intelligence would be just as impossible to check as it was in the run-up to the Iraq war, when US officials assured us Saddam was making the Bomb – and citing all sorts of completely inventedintelligence” to back it up. In short, we won’t find out if we were lied into war until well after the war has started – devastating the region, the world economy, and all hopes for peace.

The Goldberg interview, and the President’s speech to AIPAC, have both underscored the intensely political nature of the debate over Iran, which is not about objectively discernible facts, but about our perception of those facts. Obama spent thousands of words reassuring Goldberg he means business, that the threat to attack Iran isn’t a bluff – even as he acknowledged Iran does not now possess and lacks the capability to produce nuclear weapons.

When he was running for President, Obama pledged to sit down with Iran’s leaders, unconditionally, and negotiate an end to this crisis. He lied. In spite of purely symbolic efforts to make it look like he was indeed fulfilling his promise, in reality the prospect of direct talks with Tehran was dropped soon after he took office. His administration has rudely rejected all attempts by the Iranians to come to the conference table and reach what Obama referred to during the last presidential campaign as a “comprehensive” agreement on the “outstanding issues” between the two countries. Instead, he has imposed a series of escalating sanctions that are punishing the Iranian people and solidifying the control of hardliners in the regime, even as he escalates the belligerent rhetoric directed at Tehran.

Obama, as is his wont, has taken the path of least resistance – which is, indeed, the path to war. It is an easier path because to take up diplomacy would entail the sort of political risks the President seems incapable of taking, at least in the international policy arena. All his cards are on his domestic agenda – the healthcare battle, a stimulus-driven “recovery,” and the various appeals to identity politics that have displaced the issue of war and peace from the “liberal” agenda.

The President dropped his purely rhetorical efforts to “engage” the Iranians because his constituency stopped caring about it: there was no longer any political necessity to act, and so inaction followed. Indeed, what followed was a rapid escalation of curiously Bush-like threats, growing in vehemence as the Israel lobby’s war drive got underway. How many times has this President groveled at AIPAC’s feet, bowing and scraping as he reassures them of his undivided fealty? Why is that?

The reason is the pervasive influence of the Israel lobby: its power and reach, extending deep into the leadership of both parties. On top of that, it is the sheer ferocity of the Lobby’s wrath that inspires fear and a consequent reluctance to tangle with such a ruthless opponent. All a blogger at a Democrat-friendly think tank has to do is use the phrase “Israel-firster” when describing someone like, say, Norman Podhoretz, or the Rev. John Hagee, and the fist of the Lobby comes down hard – in the form of a full page ad in the New York Times! A whole cadre of self-appointed policemen of the discourse regularly patrol the internet, and the nation’s print media, hunting down heretics, i.e. critics of Israel and our Israel-centric foreign policy, openly seeking to silence them.

What the War Party fears above all is an open and vigorous discussion of a key question: on whose behalf we will be fighting if war with Iran breaks out? Because the answer to that question is clearly Israel, as that nation’s government has loudly proclaimed from the beginning. The Israelis claim they face an “existential” threat from Iran, in effect accusing war opponents of turning away as the Second Holocaust commences. The message is clear: save us, or be damned.

Yet there is nothing to justify this apocalyptic hysteria. Iran has no nukes [.pdf], and lacks the technical means – and the intent – to build them. This has been confirmed for the second time by the most recent National Intelligence Estimate. It is a fact our President acknowledges – even as he moves the goalposts back and draws a new “red line” in the sand.

The doctrine of America’s “right” to preemptively attack any nation on earth, on the basis of a possible future threat, was the hallmark “contribution” of the second Bush administration to the history of American foreign folly policy, and has never been repudiated by the Obama-ites. Indeed, they are upholding and even extending it far beyond its original parameters.

The Conspiracy Theorist In Chief: President Obama Shares Israel’s Vision of Terror And War Against Iran

Saman Mohammadi
The Excavator
March 5, 2012

“The Devil’s most devilish when respectable.” – Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

“Following Israel’s direction, the real goal of Obama’s Iran policy is to make the Islamic Republic so weak that it could not ever act independently to constrain the United States or any of its allies from unilaterally using military force in the Persian Gulf or elsewhere in the Middle East.” – Flynt Leverett and Hillary Mann Leverett, “Is Obama Preparing To Commit The United States To An Eventual War Against The Islamic Republic of Iran?” March 4, 2012.

“A nuclear-armed Iran is completely counter to Israel’s security interests, but it is also counter to the national security interests of the United States. Indeed, the entire world has an interest in preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon,” said President Barack Obama at the 2012 AIPAC conference in Washington. This statement was one lie among many in his speech to the war-loving tribes of Washington D.C.

Obama’s speech was dangerous, irresponsible, and filled with fear-mongering rhetoric against Iran. He repeated the false rumour that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said he will wipe Israel off the map. What Ahmadinejad really said was more Reaganesque and less Hitlerian: “The Imam said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time.”

Saying that Ahmadinejad wants a second Holocaust is untrue and equivalent to saying that Obama is a secret Muslim, which is a false rumour that is irresponsibly spread by ignorant right-wingers in America and Israel.

There can never be peace in the Middle East if the President of the United States reinforces the validity of false claims, and acts as the Conspiracy Theorist in Chief instead of as a public educator and a bridge between worlds.

Facts matter to people who want peace and seek a safer future. Barack Obama’s suppression of facts and repeated use of false claims about Iran’s intentions towards Israel and the world proves that he does not want peace in the Middle East.

Flynt Leverett and Hillary Mann Leverett, two former senior officials in the National Security Council, explain why President Obama was never interested in normalizing relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in their article on March 4, 2012, called, “Is Obama Preparing To Commit The United States To An Eventual War Against The Islamic Republic of Iran?” Below is an excerpt:

“Obama makes clear that, whatever he might have said as a presidential candidate or in his initial weeks as president, he has disavowed any meaningful interest in “Nixon to China” rapprochement with the Islamic Republic and will continue to follow Israel’s lead on the issue.  This confirms our assessment, first advanced in a New York Times Op Ed in May 2009, see here, that Obama was never serious about engaging Tehran.  The assessment has since been confirmed by some of the Wikileaks cables, see here and here; moreover, at least two former Obama Administration officials—Reza Marashi and Vali Nasr—are at this point on record saying that the administration was never serious about diplomacy with the Islamic Republic.

"Now, Obama himself is telling the world that his campaign rhetoric about engaging Iran was a sham.  He recounts for Goldberg, “We, immediately upon taking over, mapped out a strategy that said we are going to mobilize the international community around this issue [the prospect of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon] and isolate Iran.”  This is important in dealing with Netanyahu, because Obama wants the Israeli prime minister to know that he harbors no ambitions for a diplomatic breakthrough with the Islamic Republic—not even in a second term.”

President Obama and his masters are playing a tricky game. They are perpetually lying about the Iranian threat to the West and the world, and the true nature of the war on terror. The war on terror has come to be one of history’s longest nightmares and frauds to be perpetrated against the collective human psyche by a government or group of governments.

The totalitarian regimes in Washington, London, and Tel Aviv are able to stir up and sustain the Western public’s irrational fear of the mythic Al-Qaeda, Muslims, and Iran because the notion of “security” has been turned into a public religion in America and the West. A person who questions the public religion of “national security” is deemed a heretic/conspiracy theorist, and banished to the wilderness.

The top officials in the U.S. and Israeli National Security States are not strategic analysts and security experts, but priests of mass destruction and mass death. Priests of all systems and all ages create sacred narratives like the official 9/11 story, invent unconquerable enemies such as “terrorism,” and then use these religious devices to brainwash the society and inflame the passions of the warriors against critics and dissenters.

The day is coming when America’s brainwashed warriors in the police and military will turn their swords against the domestic enemies of the priests of death in the U.S. National Security State, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the private global banksters. They hijacked the will, spirit, and mind of America on Christmas Eve in 1913 when they forced the Federal Reserve Act through the people’s House. They have evil intentions towards America and the world.

A century of state-sponsored atrocities, false wars, and evil lies has proven what type of monsters control America. In the criminal banksters’ hands the greatest nation to have ever been created in history has been turned into a global engine of evil and destruction.

In order to complete their century-long crime against mankind and conquer the sovereign nation state, global private banksters have secretly instructed their agents Barack Obama and Bibi Netanyahu to wage total war against Iran.

This is not a conspiracy theory, but an evidence-based explanation for the current crisis between Iran and the West. The historical facts prove that total conquest of the world by the criminal banksters behind the Federal Reserve, not global security, is the motive for the fraudulent war on terror and the illegal wars against Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, and Iran.

The national security of America and Israel, as well as the security of the entire world, has never been threatened by either non-state Islamic terrorists or Iran. The threat of a nuclear Iran to Israel and the West is purely rhetorical and political, as Noam Chomsky wrote on March 2nd in an article called, “What Are Iran’s Intentions?”:
