Questions about plane crash grow in Poland

In the clear, blue skies above Krakow, there are no signs of the cloud of volcanic ash that has prevented President Barack Obama, Prince Charles, Chancellor Angela Merkel and other world leaders from coming to Krakow for the funeral of President Lech Kaczynski today.

But there is a very real sense of shock and loss among the crowds

In the plane crash last Saturday, Poland “s central bank governor was killed along with the national security chief and the top military officers, including the army chief of staff and a future candidate for commander of Nato.

There are also growing question marks over the crash, though some of the Polish people I spoke to said they never expected to know the real reason of the crash as much of the forensic evidence has disappeared to Moscow.

The Polish newspaper Fakty carried a front page showing an Illuimati eye in a pyramid on top of a pile of skulls beside a picture of the plane crash, showing that some people, at least, believe that the Illuminati and New World Order engineered the murder of the Polish elite to obtain political and financial advantages.

The death of the central bank governor opens the door to the appointment of a more euro and IMF friendly successor.

The President and two presidential candidates were killed, allowing parliamentary speaker Bronislaw Komorowski to fill the positions of  almost 100 key government officials, including the army and security chiefs  in an unprecedented coup d”etat.

Polish agents were scouring the office of one of the plane crash victim within two hours of the crash announcement – and before they could even be sure that person was dead, it has been reported.

These and many other facts are even fuelling the theory that the people who allegedly died on board the plane were actually kidnapped in Poland and the plane crash staged.

Footage of the crash site showing no bodies or personnel belongings by the wreckage, supposed to be strewn over an area of only 300 to 500 metres, is prompting speculation.

In the meantime, the black boxes of the crashed plane have been recovered and one of them is being examined also by Polish officials.

The black boxes show there was no technical problem with the airplane, which had been serviced in December 2009.

This means that the special equipment to alert pilots to potential dangers, the Terrain Awareness Warning System, should have been working on board the Tupolev 154.

It is difficult to explain how the pilot could have become so disorientated as to fly into trees about 1000 metres short of the runway and missing it by 40 to 45 metres.

According to the official account, the plane hit a tree, the left wing broke off and the plane veered off to land 150 metres from the runway.

But there are no signs of any trees of the height and strength necessary to snap off the wing of a plane.

An alternative explanation could be that the wing snapped off because of an explosion or a bomb.

Gunshots heard on a video clip shot at the site of the crash site in the immediate aftermath have also raised questions.

So have reports in the Russian media that the runway lights were changed after the crash and that radar equipment installed for the visit of Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Russian leader Vladmir Putin was removed.

Initial media reports that the plane tried to land four times, the pilot was pressured by Kaczynski or that the pilot could not speak Russian have been disproved.

There was only one landing attempt, no interference from Kaczynski recorded on the voice recorder and the pilot could speak Russian according to a colleague.

The timing of the crash is also extraordinary.

Seventy years after the first Katyn massacre left Poland leaderless, the second has occurred.

Key players who helped keep Poland”s economy buoyant and who must have given their tacit support to the Health Minister Ewa Kopacz to refuse the swine flu vaccine have been killed.

The implications for Poland”s future are far reaching.

But the whole world could be affected.

The first Katyn massacre preceded the intensification of world war two.

Having carved up Poland, Nazi Germany and Stalin”s Soviet Union embarked on a new phase of conquest – and were soon at each other”s throats.

Now the international banking cartel has got a grip on the Polish monetary policy and currency and Putin has eliminated an enemy, the US might be freer to launch an attack against Iran.

Russia has been a traditional ally of Iran. But it may step back for a year or so before becoming embroiled in the conflict, sparking world war three.

But as the sun shines over Krakow, it is hard not to feel optimism.

Volcanic ash clouds have kept the globalists away from the ceremony at Wawel Castle, one of the seven energy points on the earth, along with Delphi, Rome, Jerusalem, Delhi and Mecca.

As Krakow braces for Sunday’s state funeral, crash investigators are turning up new clues as to what led to last Saturday’s horrific crash that dealt a terrible blow to Poland’s government.

The Polish first couple was among the 96 passengers and crew who lost their lives in a plane crash last Saturday near the western Russian city of Smolensk. The high-level delegation was on its way to Katyn, a forested area near the Belarusian-Russian border, to pay tribute to some 20,000 Polish officers killed by the Soviet secret police during World War II.

The crash sent shockwaves of grief around the world, and was powerful enough to bring out some soul-searching between Poland and Russia, two countries that have a lengthy history of animosity between them. The Polish people were especially touched when they saw footage of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin console his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk, with an embrace as the two men met at the crash site.

One high-ranking Polish politician said that it was inappropriate to dub the fatal plane crash a “Second Katyn,” while suggesting that the tragedy may help mend strained Polish-Russian relations.”Though [the plane crash] was initially called a ‘Second Katyn’, it is quite another matter. The Communist state killed our officers and drove a wedge between us which we are still struggling to overcome. The recent tragedy, on the contrary, brought our states and peoples together,”

Borusewicz said that those who think that relations between the two states will worsen are in a minority.”Russians have changed a great deal,”

Investigators examine black boxes

Meanwhile, as Poland and the international community prepares to pay its final respects to Kaczynski and his wife, investigators are slowly piecing together the tragic final moments before Poland’s presidential Tu-154 crashed in a wooded area just short of the runway.

Contrary to original reports, the chairperson of the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) said on Thursday that the presidential aircraft made just one attempt to land before crashing.”Media reports that the Polish plane made three or four attempts to land are false. I can say that there was only one landing attempt,”

The IAC also confirmed on Friday that the aircraft sheared a line of trees about one kilometer away from the start of the runway.”We have established that the plane had first contact with trees about 1,050 meters from the runway and about 40-45 meters to the left of the final approach line,” t

“Most of the fragments of the plane are scattered around an area about 350-500 meters away and 150 meters to the left of the runway,”"At the moment all aircraft fragments, personal belongings, documents, valuables and other items of interest to the investigation have been removed from the site of the crash,”

Anodina said Russian and Polish investigators were cooperating to determine what caused last Saturday’s tragedy, which led to the death of many of Poland’s top political, military and business elite.”Work is in progress. It is scrupulous and being carried out in full cooperation with the Polish side,”

the chairwoman told RIA Novosti. “When it is over, the commission will make the results public.”Meanwhile, early reports suggest that the president and other VIPs aboard did not pressure the pilots to land “no matter what” – despite the poor visibility and safety concerns.

Interfax on Thursday quoted an anonymous source in the panel of experts that pilot error was the likely culprit in Saturday’s crash.”The panel’s analysis, namely data from the black boxes, shows that it was pilot’s mistake that caused the crash,”

the source said, adding that the pilots were aware of their situation before the crash, saying that the final moments of conversation between the pilots were “dramatic.”Russian and Polish specialists are jointly investigating the causes of the deadly crash. Polish military prosecutors, however, have opened their own investigation into the accident.

Meanwhile, the painstaking process of identifying the bodies from the crash continues. Already, 74 victims have been identified, a source in the Moscow center for assisting relatives of the victims told Interfax.”Identification procedures will continue on Friday. A plane carrying 34 sealed coffins with victims’ remains flew from [Moscow’s] Domodedovo airport to Warsaw at 16:25 on Thursday,”

Finally, as if Poland does not have enough to think about, meteorologists are keeping their eye on a massive ash cloud, spewed out by a volcano in Iceland that has halted flights across Europe for two consecutive days.

Flights across much of Europe are expected to be severely disrupted well into Saturday because of the drifting ash, officials said. Much of the airspace across northern and western Europe has been shut down, and flight control officials said some 17,000 flights would be cancelled on Friday.

Poland’s PAP news agency reported Thursday evening that the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency prohibited flights over part of the country until further notice. Flights in and out of Gdansk airport were canceled.

However, Polish TVN24 channel on Friday said the country’s authorities had no plans to postpone the ceremony.

Polish prosecutors examine video footage of crash site with gunshots

Polish state prosecutors are examining video footage shot in the immediate aftermath of the crash of a Tupolev plane into wooded area beside runway of Smolensk airport on Saturday, killing about 100 high ranking Polish military and civilian officials.

Four gunshots from a small calibre pistol can be heard on the video clip.

Sirens from approaching emergency crews, and panicked shouts can also be heard in the short clip filmed by a camera operator who zig zags in a wooded area a few metres from wreckage.

Evidence that guns were fired at the crash site has triggered speculation that military personnel searched the crash site, looking for survivors and killing any crew members who were left alive.

A motive for such a „cleaning up“ operation could be to eliminate witnesses to an engineered crash.

Another explanation for the gunshots is that cartridges from the weapons of the bodyguards exploded.

The video shows no evidence of bodies, parts of bodies or of personnel belongings among the pieces of wreckage strewn in the woods as might be expected for a plane with 100 passengers.

About 100 people were supposed to have been on board the Tu-154 plane among them President Lech Kaczynski, his wife, Maria, the Polish central bank governor, national security chief and all military chiefs.

The absence of body parts strongly suggests that the high level military and civilian officials were executed elsewhere, and that the plane crash was staged in Russia to explain their disappearance and to restrict an investigation.

Smolensk runway lighting system tampered with, says Russian journalist

Radar equipment was dismantled at the Smolensk military airport shortly before a Tu-154 plane carring high level Polish military and civilians crashed there on Saturday, Russian investigative journalist Julia Latynina has written in the “Moscow Times”.

A number of infrared lamps used for lighting the runway have also been reported to have been removed shortly after the crash.

Infrared lamps help pilots to align with the runway.

The news that key lamps were changed after the crash will fuel speculation that the Polish pilots were caught up in an elaborate deception as to the position of the runway, leading them to plunge into woods close by.

“A couple of days before the planned visit of Lech Kaczynski in Katyn, the head of the Russian government Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Donald Tusk landed on April 7th at Smolensk airport with the help of specially delivered radar equipment. On Saturday, April 10th the equipment had vanished,” Julia Latynina wrote, reports Polskaweb.

Latynina also claims that Tusk and Putin discussed a strategy for making the visit of Kaczysnki look “superfluous”.

Er räumte hierbei ein, dass die Verhältnisse vor Ort ziemlich schlecht waren. Bei dem Flugzeugabsturz in Smolensk in Russland wurden 96 Menschen getötet. Unter ihnen, Präsident Lech Kaczynski und seine Frau sowie weitere wichtige polnische Persönlichkeiten. Russische und deutsche Medien melden, dass die Piloten der abgestürzten Tupolew Schuld an “dem Unfall” gehabt haben sollen. Poland starts own probe into presidential plane crash

Polish military prosecutors have opened an investigation into the plane crash that claimed the lives of Polish President Lech Kaczynski and dozens of the country’s top officials, Polish Attorney General Krzysztof Parulski said on Tuesday.
“The Military Prosecutor’s Office is carrying out an independent investigation [of the accident],” he said.
Polish TVN24 TV channel reported earlier in the day Russian and Polish specialists will finish on Wednesday or Thursday analyzing the data contained in the black boxes of the plane that crashed in western Russia killing the Polish president and 95 others.
It also said that contrary to initial reports, an examination of the flight recorders revealed that the crew had made two, not four attempts to land.
The flight recordings also indicate the Polish pilots did not report any technical problems on board.
Russian government officials said the bodies of 48 people had been identified and a special plane from Poland was expected to take the coffins home later on Tuesday.
The delegation of top political and public figures was on its way to pay tribute to some 20,000 Polish officers executed by Soviet secret police in 1940.
Poland has declared a week of national mourning.

International terrorists from FSB Russia murdered Polish President with EMP

The Romanian Global News was the only outlet of the Rumanian media which reported about the attack of international terrorists from the FSB Russia against the plane of the Polish President in Smolensk, in which the whole Polish elite had been exterminated. The Rumanian agency cites its sources in the security structures of the NATO. The report has not been officially confirmed yet, but increasing evidence testifies that the Russians really eliminated the leadership of Poland in the most brutal crime of this century.

The opportunity was unique for Russia. Russia never had so many enemies seated in one plane over its territory or near a military base equipped with electronic and electromagnetic weapons systems. It was an opportunity that former KGB agent Vladimir Putin could not miss.

To murder enemies was the ABC of philosophy for security services in the Czarist Russia, which remains intact until now. For the FSB, GRU, SVR and for all other Russian secret services it was just a routine operation, which they call in technical terms “the annihilation of anti-Russian political and military leaders of an enemy country.”

The Russian claim of a “human error” and other Russian disinformation campaigns can not conceal the fact of a sudden and total failure of all the equipment on board the plane and free the Russians of suspicions that they destroyed the plane in a terrorist attack.

It is a crime that Moscow would have to pay for many years ahead. The Russian state terrorists initially wanted to eliminate the President and his brother, a former Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski. He didn’t board the death plane only by chance, his mother was ill.

Jaroslaw Kaczynski is likely to be the next president of Poland.

Actually, informed people can not be fooled by the Russian disinformation campaign launched after the tragedy, indirectly confirming suspicions disclosed by the Romanian Global News.

The Rumanian Evenimentul Zilei B1 TV aired a program about the tragedy with Caesar Osiceanu as moderator. The Russian version of events contradicts the information received by the Romanian Global News, the program reported.

In its turn, the Polish media is now more concerned with funerals of politicians exterminated by the Russians in the plane crash rather than starting to ask questions and get uneasy.

“A preliminary analysis of the conversations indicate that the 26-year old plane was in good working condition, writes the news.pl.

Initially, the media speculated that the tragedy could have been caused by a poor state of the Russian-made Polish plane, noting that in the past 40 years, 60 such planes crashed. Six of them crashed in the last five years. The head of the production team at the Tupolev plant Alexei Gusev said the aircraft was recently refurbished and its engines were repaired.

The traffic controllers at the airport of Smolensk presumably advised the Polish pilot not to land, warning that a dense fog reduced visibility.

They suggested to the pilots to try to land in the airport of Minsk or Moscow. The Chief Pilot, Arkadiusz Protasiuk, presumably ignored the advice of the Russian controllers and decided to land in the airport in Smolensk. He presumably tried it four times.

A colleague of the now dead pilot, Tomasz Pietrzak, who flew several times such Russian planes, said there is no evidence so far that Protasiuk really tried four times to land in Smolensk.

The crash of the Polish President’s plane which caused the death of all 96 passengers is absolutely inexplicable because of the sophisticated electronic equipment on board and experienced pilots.

Sources in the Polish Ministry of Defense in Warsaw reported exclusively to the Romanian Global News that Russian military carried out experiments in the past with electromagnetic weapons on its military base in the area of the military airfield where the plane of the Polish president tried to land.

In 2008, Moscow said it had created the most powerful electromagnetic weapon of all time, known as the EMP (electromagnetic pulse), the Russian paper Pravda reported.

“The immense power of billions of watts is being generated, and the weapon is of extremely small size. The innovation is that electromagnetic pulses emitted by the new weapon is much shorter, but extremely powerful, “said Gennady Mesyats, the Vice President of the Russian Academy of Science and director of the Lebedev Physics Institute.

“Such small weapon has never been created in the past and yet it is extremely powerful. . There were similar devices, made during the Cold War, but their size was huge. Our device is at least 10 times more powerful than any weapon created abroad,” said Mikhail Yaladin, a scientist credited with the development of the electromagnetic super weapon.

Any electronic equipment fails to operate in the near of the electromagnetic device, when the generator is running. The device was shown in Yekaterinburg. According to Russian military scientists, it produces results similar to a lightning stroke or a nuclear explosion. The weapon was called Nika, after the Greek goddess of victory.

A weapon of this type can interfere with electronic equipment and engines of any aircraft, Polish military sources said to the Romanian Global News. It is very difficult to detect it because of a short period of the use of the electromagnetic beam.

Kaczynski brothers were among the strongest defenders Polish national interests, both from Moscow and from Germany and Brussels.

Under their leadership, one of the largest Russian spy networks has been destroyed by the Polish military counterintelligence. This is one of the hardest blows that Moscow has ever got in the NATO area.

The Rumanian news agency is not the only one who distrusts the Russians.

“Israeli” media outlets do not trust the official Russian version about the causes of the plane crash near Smolensk as well, the Rumanian Global News says. Some of them are inclined to see a Kremlin-style murder in this incident, reports the izrus.co.il.

Many analyst believe that the tragedy was staged by the Kremlin, which hated Kaczynski, because of his anti-Russian stance.

On April 10, the first “Israeli” TV channel as well as the second one mentioned a possible involvement of Putin in the death of the Polish president.

Next day, on April 11, doubts were expressed in the print media.

“The Poles can hardly believe that all political and military leadership disappeared as a result of an accident caused by a tragic set of circumstances, technical defects and a human factor”, writes the Yediot Ahronot newspaper.

The Ha’aretz newspaper adds:” In the first hours after the accident, a possibility of a Russian involvement prevailed in the Polish media because of tense relations between Kaczynski and Putin.

The Maariv went further and titled its article “A smell of liquidation”.

“Moscow has promised to investigate, Putin became the head of the investigation committee, but it is unlikely that the truth would be ever revealed,”, the article says.

The NRG Web site says that “the accusation in a targeted Kremlin-style assassination will accompany the story in the coming year”

A leading political analyst, Attila Somfalvi wrote in the “Facebook” that “the Russians are now the main suspects”.

On April 12, the newspaper Ha’aretz noted that Russian solidarity with Poland in the Smolensk tragedy is only meant to deceive the world.

The Mystery of Poland's Presidential Plane Crash Deepens

According to an anonymous source, the investigation into the causes of the Polish presidential plane crash may be subjected to political pressure which could hinder the ongoing investigation. This, claims the source, is due to the political aspect of the accident: the tragic death of the president on the territory of a foreign country.

The Polish presidential jet was not insured, which could mean that the party at fault in the tragedy may be subject to a multimillion dollar civil litigation suit by families of the victims.

This situation additionally complicates the fact that the Polish president was headed to Russia to commemorate a mass murder of Polish officers during World War II by the Soviets in Katyn, "a cursed place" as the former President of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski has described it. Some even compare the Polish presidential jet crash, in which Poland lost its President and dozens of political, military and religious leaders, to Katyn No 2.

If the cause of the crash is determined to be a flight controller's mistake or a malfunction of the navigation equipment at the Russian airport, it could harm Polish-Russian relations, which for years have been far from satisfactory, the source says.


Questions

A picture of Russian airport personnel changing light bulbs in the approach lights to Smolensk airport under the supervision of a uniformed Russian military officer has been circulated in the Polish media. This prompted the Polish prosecutor in charge of the investigation to ask his Russian counterpart for an explanation.

"The question should be: was it something that was planned earlier or was it a decision that was taken in the aftermath of the crash," says Greg Phillips, a former NTSB crash investigator.

Four days before the crash, jets of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk safely landed on the same tarmac in Smolensk. According to unconfirmed reports, Prime Minster Putin's security detail equipped the airport with an additional navigation system, MMLS (Mobile Microwave Landing System), before the landing which was dismantled after the visit was completed. In Poland the revelation fuels speculation about the crash.

Russian authorities who lead the investigation have not yet answered if the report is true and if so why the same navigational equipment was not provided for the pilots of the Polish Presidential plane.

Who owns the black boxes?

According to the largest Polish opinionated daily Rzeczpospolita, Polish Prosecutor General, Andrzej Seremeta, stated that Polish investigators would obtain from Russian authorities "transcripts of cockpit voice recorders, not the voice recorders itself".

This raised eyebrows of some US aviation experts.

According to the rules of crash investigation included in Annex 6 and 13 of ICAO Chicago Convention (also signed by Poland and Russia), a Polish investigation team should be directly involved in the process of the analysis of the black boxes content.

Greg Phillips, a former NTSB crash investigator, agrees that the Polish investigation team should be able to retrieve the black boxes after the investigation just as the pieces of the airplane itself since they are the property of the Government of Poland which owned the plane.

Phillips admits, however, that it is unclear if the ICAO regulations regarding civilian airplanes could be applied to a presidential plane operated by the Polish Air Force.


The Flying Coffin

The President of Poland traveled on a Russian made Tu-154 with a disqualifying safety record (40 crashes since 1970). Polish journalists called it "the Flying Coffin;" American pilots labeled it "Careless." According to Ascend magazine, Tu-154 has suffered a fatal accident for every 431,200 flights, compared with Boeing 737s record of one fatal crash for each 2.68-million flights.

The issue of the modernization of the governmental fleet has been raised in Poland since the early 90's but for various reasons it was never completed.

In 2007 the issue became political when Prime Minister Donald Tusk proposed that Polish governmental VIP's should travel on commercial flights, which was in accordance with public expectations. A 2007 Polish edition of a Newsweek poll showed a majority of Poles believed the state authorities should fly on commercial airliners.

In February 2008, in a political showdown, Prime Minister Donald Tusk traveled to Washington on an official state visit to the White House on board a Polish commercial airliner LOT.

"No problems with the airplane"

Preliminary reports on the Polish presidential jet crash indicate that flight PLF 101 attempted to land in a dense fog when it struck an installation 1000 meters before the runway then cut tops of trees, which caused the aircraft to flip and crash inverted into a forest, killing all 96 people on board instantly.

According to a former NTSB crash investigator, Greg Phillips, there is no indication of a malfunction of the aircraft. Tu-154 is well known among pilots for its robust construction, which can increase the chances of survival in a crash landing situation.

The airplane made it to the airport without any problem; there was no emergency call, no distress calls, which indicate that there was probably no problem with the airplane, says Phillips.

The mystery of the Polish Presidential jet crash additionally deepens the fact that it was equipped with TAWS, a safety device that warns pilots when they get too close to the ground.

If the safety device was working properly, it would be the first such crash of an aircraft with the system in aviation history, says John M. Cox, a safety consultant and former accident investigator.

Photographs of the crash site show the gear of the airplane was in the"down" position when it crashed. This indicates that the plane was on a landing approach but was about 1000 meters away from the point where it should have been. TAWS should have given a warning. It's a mystery why the crew would have ignore it, adds Cox.

The functionality of the TAWS system can be determined by an analysis of the flight data in the microchip installed in the system, which can be done only at the device manufacturer Universal Avionics Systems of Tucson. The company declined comments due to the pending investigation. Experts agree that it is likely, however, that the device did not contain topographical maps of the Smolensk airport area, probably due to the fact that it was a military airport which changed its status to a civilian facility only six months before the crash.

A Polish-Russian dilemma


According to Greg Phillip's analysis of the crash, the pilot of the plane attempting to land in low visibility conditions could undertake a "look-see approach," which is basically an instrument approach up to the point when the pilot can continue to land using external visual references.

The look-see approach is considered by pilots to be a very risky maneuver and is generally banned by the FAA on all civilian airports in the US for commercial operators.

A veteran major airline corporate and general aviation pilot, Captain John Cox, indicates, however, that pilots of the Polish Air Force One were aware of the limitations of Smolensk airport and descending in low visibility could use a non-precision approach, which is allowed for presidential aircraft.

The key is to watch the altimeter, and make sure not to go below the minimum descent altitude (MDA) before obtaining visual sight of the runway, says Cox.

Experts agree that it is a difficult maneuver, which often ends with a crash.

In similar circumstances, on October 19, 2004, a Corporate Airlines BAE-J3201 Jetstream struck trees and crashed short of the Kirksville, Missouri Regional Airport runway during a night non-precision instrument approach.

Greg Phillips points to another important question regarding the flight of PLF 101. Why did the pilots circle the airport three times and what happened on board that plane at the time when they decided to make a decision to land against all odds?

"It seems to me that the key to determining the causes of the Polish Air Force One crash will be establishing if the pilot who made the decision to take a look-see approach had the authorization for the risky landing maneuver," says Greg Phillips. He added: "This authorization pertains not only to the pilot himself or a person in charge of the presidential plane but also the airport authority who has jurisdiction over the airport in Smolensk which under existing weather conditions should be closed."

Very Strange:

When I first heard of the Polish air plane crash there was a movie on youtube from a journalist taken from his Hotel were he was waiting on the delegation to arrive.

On this movie you could clearly see that one of the two side engines was already on fire before it crashed.

Can’t find the clip any more and it’s no were mentioned not even in the alternative media????

Has anyone else seen this clip?

Free-Market Analysis: This is a powerful video – Click here to view. Is it a hoax? If it is proves to be true – and not fake or mistranslated – it will go down in the annals of history (unless it goes down the memory hole) as one of the most significant and memorable video documentaries ever created. Yes, if true, it would be worthy of an Oscar and other mainstream media awards, though it likely will not receive a single one.

The initial video – which appeared in early April was not apparently much commented on in the mainstream Western press – has already received in aggregate millions of views. The enhancements appear to be have been performed serially (apparently by a nameless crew at Facebook), and not necessarily by professional journalists. Even if it is a hoax, it certainly presents the powerful emotional punch the Internet is capable of delivering.

The posting of the enhanced video with subtitles (or at least one of them) – when we viewed it – only had about 600 views on YouTube, though it has been reposted elsewhere. It is posted on "YouTube as Digital Enhancement of Amateur Plane Crash Site Footage (w / English Subtitles) in Smolensk." Watching the video is blood-curdling. If true, it is like being in a time machine and observing first-hand as yet another tragic chapter in the history of humankind is writ large in a bloody hand.

What would be the reasons for an assassination of the Polish President? Lech Kaczynski had a reputation as an independent thinker, a conservative and was apparently opposed to the further centralization of EU power in Brussels. He also seemed to take an adversarial stance toward Russia that included placing US missiles on Polish soil. His burial was attended by very few foreign leaders, though volcanic ash was said to have impeded the travel plans of many.

Because of the controversy surrounding him, there were plenty of conspiracy theories floated after the plane crash. But one could be pardoned for assuming that the talk would not give way to documented, official evidence, given the history of how such tragedies unfold. There is the initial shock, then the accusations fly and sometimes there is an "investigation" – one that is inconclusive and does not amount to much.

We have often written about the changed communication environment of the 21st century and this YouTube video might seem a case in point. The Internet has made communication control increasingly difficult and this video and its elaborations would, in fact, seem to be proof positive of this perception – in an emphatic fashion (and of free-market economist AF Hayek's "spontaneous order," as well).

The video seems to show a heinous crime in action, the execution of survivors of the plane crash by shadowy figures. You can see the figures running through the woods and hear the gunshots. You can read translated dialogue. In trying to figure out the provenance of the video, we came across the following report, apparently issued by the Polish Military Prosecutor's Office, with a publication time: 28 April 2010, 21:00 and posted at kavkazcenter.com:

The video made several minutes after the crash of Polish president's plane near Smolensk, Russia is true, Military Prosecutor's Office of Poland said, the Azerbaijani news agency APA reports quoting CNN Turk.

The video shows three moving silhouettes jumping from the plane, laughter and the pilot's voice calling for help are heard. Poland's Military Prosecutor's Office said the documents related to the flight were being investigated, 60 gave testimonies, but it was impossible to specify the exact time of the crash.

The author of the video is reportedly Andrey Menderey. He was stabbed shortly after the video was released on the Internet. Andrey Menderey was unplugged from the artificial respirator by an unidentified person.

Conclusion: Is the video a hoax? Are the translations accurate? The Internet is increasingly full of hoaxes, often released in our opinion by various intel agencies and other individuals and institutions that wish to discredit the Internet and its truth-telling capability. But regardless, true or not (or at least until it is provably false), this short YouTube clip amply illustrates the emotional punch this intimate yet wide-ranging informational technology is capable of delivering. It also, of course, raises disturbing questions about the thus-far official narrative of the tragic plane crash and the Polish President's demise.

Another issue that hasn't been addressed...the plane was supposedly low on fuel, yet there were eyewitness accounts of hearing an explosion, and pieces of the plane were strewn more than one kilometer. The physics sure don't add up by the mainstream account.
