Interesting see: the Joint UK/US expansion of Diego Garcia started back in 1974

Quote
Military goal: “to be able to run the planet from Guam and Diego Garcia by 2015″

David Miliband, the UK Foreign Secretary

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Miliband
...
Born in London, David Miliband is the elder son of Marion Kozak, from Poland, and the late Marxist intellectual Ralph Miliband, who fled Belgium during World War II

he was a Kennedy Scholar

Research Fellow and policy analyst at the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR).

Miliband is an advocate for international awareness of climate change and believes the cooperation of all nations is needed for environmental reform. Miliband's focuses include food retail waste management and greenhouse gas emissions in agricultural industries. He believes that the EU should go further in two areas: a low carbon global economy and global action on climate change.

The Treaty of Lisbon creates the post of High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy for the European Union, a post commonly known as the European Foreign Minister. In autumn 2009 as the Treaty came close to entering into force, Miliband was named as being under consideration for the post as EU officials regarded him as "ideal material

In an interview with CNN in 2009, Miliband stated that he has a Jewish background, grew up in a secular setting, and describes himself as an atheist with a 'huge respect' for peoples of faiths.[1]

The [STOLEN] area will cover about 250,000sq miles (650,000sq kms) of ocean around some of the best preserved seas on the planet.

Alistair Gammel, the UK head of the Pew Environment Group

http://www.pewtrusts.org/about_us.aspx

Back in 1946, Look magazine  [ CIA / Bilderberg ] invited Joseph N. Pew Jr., an executive at the Sun Oil Company  [ Rockefeller buddy ] (he would become board chairman in 1947) and a prominent voice on social and political issues

The Pew Charitable Trusts, an independent nonprofit, is the sole beneficiary of seven individual charitable funds established between 1948 and 1979 by two sons and two daughters of Sun Oil Company founder Joseph N. Pew and his wife, Mary Anderson Pew.

http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-79355668.html
Established in 1948 by relatives of Sun Oil Company founder, Joseph N. Pew, the Pew Trusts has quietly become a leading force for funding environmental groups and environmental campaigns. With an endowment of $4.9 billion, Pew's strength in environmental causes has been attributed to the "hands-on" leadership of Joshua Reichert, the director of the Trust's environmental programs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunoco
...
With increased diversification, Sun Oil Company was renamed Sun Company in 1976. In 1980, Sun acquired the U.S. oil and gas properties of Texas Pacific Oil Company, Inc., a subsidiary of The Seagram Company, Ltd. [ DOPE INC] , for US $2.3 billion—the second largest acquisition in U.S. history to that date.

In 2004, Sunoco replaced ConocoPhillips' 76 brand as the official fuel of NASCAR.

http://www.smokershistory.com/PewTrust.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pew_Charitable_Trusts

The Pew Charitable Trusts is an independent non-profit organization and non-governmental organization, founded in 1948 with over US$5 billion in assets

Joseph Pew and his heirs were politically conservative.

Most of the early beneficiaries were conservative organizations such as the John Birch Society, the American Liberty League, and the American Enterprise Institute,[3][4]

According to the 2009 Annual Report, five of the 12 persons currently serving on the Board for the Trusts are named Pew. Two of the five are physicians.

http://www.capitalresearch.org/pubs/pdf/05_04_FW.pdf
...
The Pew Charitable Trusts are actually an interlocking set of seven trusts established by the children of turn-of-thecentury
oil baron Joseph N. Pew, and stewarded by the family’s private investment bank, the Glenmede Trust Company, which
is the trustee of the seven charitable trusts. Glenmede manages $14 billion of total Pew family wealth, about $4 billion of which belongs to the Pew Charitable Trusts.

In 1965 about 1,500 inhabitants were evicted by the British Government to make way for a US military base on the largest of the islands, Diego García.

the US military base will assist enforcement by sharing information from existing intelligence networks on activity in the area.

Mauritius is furious at the unilateral decision. In 1965 it was told by Britain that the Chagos Islands would be given to them when they were no longer needed for defence purposes. Foreign and Commonwealth Office officials privately admit that they cannot foresee a time when this would be the case.

“They want to prevent islanders from going back and keep these islands for ever. But we are not going to let this go. They will face the consequences of this.”

Behind the BBC's warming fanaticism are a series of financially-driven motives. Richard Black, as readers of this site will know, is the BBC's web environment correspondent. He - like many of his BBC colleagues - also makes a tidy income from chairing conferences. Back in 2008, for example, he was a lead facilitator at a Pew Symposium in Tokyo which considered the likely impact on whales of climate change (!), a role for which he is likely to have been paid several thousand pounds. The conference was funded and organised by the Pew Charitable Trusts, a US body which, like the BBC is an ardent believer in climate change. Their website leads its relevant section with this:

The world’s leading scientists agree that the planet is warming and that human activities—especially the burning of fossil fuels and the clearing of forests—are a big part of the cause.

Indeed, Pew is so focused on forcing the world to adopt carbon trading and the like that it has its own climate change centre.

Somebody else who works for Pew is a public relations consultant called Kate Moffat, whose employer is PR outfit Luther Pendragon, who say on their website that they specialise in the environment and also have on their books those with vested interests in the climate change scam. Ms Moffat handles the Pew Charitable Trusts account on behalf of Luther Pendragon, and in that role, she has just been appointed to the so-called independent committee that is looking into the leaked emails from the University of East Anglia. Bishop Hill notes today that the committee appears increasingly to be heading towards carefully-orchestrated conclusion through the guidance of Ms Moffat (and anbother PR sidekick).

So, Mr Black and Ms Moffat are both firmly within the paid orbit of Pew, one of the little-known but hugely influential bodies that pull the strings of the climate change debate. It shows yet again, in the world of climate science, the more you scatch the surface, the more there is evidence of strange linkages and vested interests at work; and that BBC employees are well and truly in bed with those shadowy forces.

Richard Nathaniel Goldman Apr. 16, 1920 - Nov. 29, 2010 Richard Nathaniel Goldman, philanthropist and co-founder of the world-renowned Goldman Environmental Prize, passed away peacefully early Monday morning at his San Francisco home at age 90. Throughout his life, Mr. Goldman remained dedicated to supporting the San Francisco Bay Area, environmental causes, the Jewish community, Israel and reproductive rights.

The son of prominent San Francisco lawyer Richard Samuel Goldman and Alice Wertheim Goldman of Great Falls, Montana, Richard N. Goldman was born and raised in San Francisco. He graduated from University of California at Berkeley and spent a year at Boalt Hall School of Law before serving in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946. In 1949, he founded and was chairman of Goldman Insurance Services.

In 1951, Mr. Goldman and his late wife, Rhoda Haas Goldman, a great-grandniece of Levi Strauss, established the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund in San Francisco. Since its inception, the Fund has distributed more than $680 million dollars to nonprofit organizations and causes around the world. Through their foundation, their areas of support included efforts as early as the 1960s to support conservation and environmental causes. In 1989, the couple established the Goldman Environmental Prize, which annually awards $150,000 to six grassroots environmental heroes, one from each of the world's inhabited regions.

Today, the Goldman Prize is frequently referred to as the "Green Nobel." Mr. Goldman served on the boards of many Bay Area organizations and received numerous civic honors and awards. He was also one of the largest donors to the University of California at Berkeley, his alma mater, wherein he was named the 2010 Alumnus of the Year. Mr. Goldman and his wife, who died in 1996, raised four children in San Francisco.

He is survived by three of his children, John D. Goldman and his wife, Marcia, of Atherton, CA; Douglas E. Goldman and his wife, Lisa, of San Francisco, CA; and Susan R. Gelman and her husband, Michael, of Chevy Chase, MD. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Susan Goldman, widow of his son Richard W. Goldman, who predeceased his parents. In addition, Mr. Goldman is survived by his 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his sister Marianne Goldman of San Francisco, CA. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Congregation Emanu-El, 2 Lake Street (at Arguello) in San Francisco. The family encourages memorial donations be made to Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy; Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco; University of California at Berkeley Department of Intercollegiate Athletics; or a charitable organization of the donor's choosing..
