Let me tell you my plight. My daughter has scoliosis, which generated close to a quarter million dollars of bills for my wife and me. Insurance covered about 90 percent leaving us with about $25,000 in bills. This eventually led us to foreclosure about two years ago. Then in September my employer downsized, letting me go. Now at 40 years old I'm working on getting my Associates degree, renting, jobless, and maybe $1000 left in savings. Work in this area is tough to get, with big companies letting go 400 people here and 500 people there. If I were an illegal I'm sure I could get a job tomorrow. My backup is education and hope and pray I get a job after the fact.

time to start moving in with friends and/or family
you will be able to plan more and get a head start at working together, plus save on housing expense
also getting a garden in this spring will be crucial

Enlight of congress seeking to authorize FEMA camps, along with the sicko art that these elites are getting off on, I would encourage you, that if you live in a big city GET OUT. Hearing Colin Powell's warnings and all, this is getting down right creepy. Martial law may damn well be coming this year. The evidence is there of what next false flag they will pull, so GET OUT OF THE CITIES NOW!

The National Guard are trained to have ANY large city in the USA LOCKED DOWN within 2 hours--no one can go in and no one can go out. By the time someone hears about the lock-down, it will be too late to get out! To most in the City, it will come as a surprise.
You should move out of the cities now.

Here's an interesting thing that 1 may not have thought of. I read quite a few of the pages but not all of em, so if this has already been posted, well then. Get an LED Light Keychain, then connect it via the keyring of the LED Light with a Swiss Army Knife and its respective keyring. Whn u have the big blade facing outward, u can hold down the button on the LED Light Keychain with your thumb, and with the rest of your hand, u can clutch the base of your Swiss Army Knife in your hand, obviously while the big blade is out. A neat hybrid, gives u a light to do w/e in case you're stuck without a better light and inexpensive, plus its small and easy to pack in case SHTF.

-what about have a good rapport with you neighbors and people in your community
over the years i have found the more people know you and know you might do something for them are more likely to do the same for you.
this can be anything borrowing a cup of sugar, helping someone shovel snow or with just everyday things
the more people pull together the more can be achieved.

I'm still working on storable food. Thats my current investment.
I thought I would comment on this because my wife and i are having a serious debate on this. I am PRO storable food, she is against it. She is anti-NWO and realizes governments are in place to control (after all she is from the FSU). We are trying to get prepared and finish doing so since we have the spare cash at this time. Who knows what tomorrow brings. Im coming from the angle of being prepared, since Im from a family of boy scouts (dad, myself and 3 brothers before me). My wife grew up during the collapse of the soviet union and said even when times where tough, there was ALWAYS food. People grew food themselves, people bartered and traded, neighbors helped each other, etc. She says getting food was never a problem. Even bread was cheap. So, she is against stocking up on any food. Maybe Im lost. Maybe im not explaining it to her correctly. Can you all please help? What shit hitting the fan are we talking about here? A government take over? A government collapse? An earthquake? Project blue beam? Me not taking out the trash right away? Enlighten me. Thanks.

Storable food is good but don't forget seeds, which are storable. I sprouted snow peas this year and spread them around the rooftop, urban garden. I have lentils, beans, peas and other storable foods which are years old but still can be eaten as sprouts or planted in the garden for harvest of more seeds. You can grow mushrooms indoors and a lot more. Don't forget home-brewing, home grown and permaculture http://permaculture.org.au

My personal advice on people who hope to avoid FEMA camps and the other assorted nasties that are set in place in a time of crisis and the answer is actually quite simple, it's common sense, if you take some time to sit back and think. First what are the basic things needed for survival? Water, and food... Hmmm (Sudden Brainwave smacks head) that sounds oddly familiar with what Alex says, Gee? I wonder why that is.. anyway I would also personally recommend you arm yourself with a reliable fire arm and learn to use that firearm with great proficiency, no matter what you will need one for basic protection, not saying you even need to fight. I would also recommend if you live in a large city, to purchase a remote residence in the country side, and or if you can not afford it, build a small fort or something of that nature in the woods, or at least have the gear to survive out in the wilderness, like warm clothes and all those sort of things, their are many great books and literature you can purchase on survival techniques, and basic first aid, and medical procedures which will prove to be vital believe me. If you live in a large city you will almost fore sure want to get out at the first signs of a crisis before it is too late, otherwise if you live in places like LA and NY you will be caught up in madness and chaos, not something you want your young children to be involved in, your best bet is to get remote, and become self sufficient immediately, I suggest getting chemical supplies for purifying water, or some method of purifying your water which will be vital, I recommend staying away from battery and electric operated devices as these will not be very effective if you have no power source, unless of course you buy generator's, solar energy devices, or stock up on A LOT of batteries. http://www.demonoid.com/files?uid=771988&seeded=2 here is a great list of books, and other material, some of which I do not endorse, but it does have some great books on survival and survival techniques, their are also many many others you can purchase, you just have to do some looking around.

I wasn't able to read through all of the pages, but I was wondering if anyone had a bit of advice for me?
I'm in a unique position, because not only do I have very young children (a 2-year-old and a 4-month-old) but I have Type 1 diabetes and require several injections of insulin daily. Obviously, without it, I would die.
Now, personally, being a mom, I'm not thinking about myself here in a selfish way... I just couldn't stand the thought of dying and leaving my two little babies out here alone to face this evil they don't yet know exists, or if I were to die and something were to happen to either one of them and I wouldn't be there to stop it... the thought just haunts me.
If anyone on here has some tips for a person like me, I would very much appreciate any advice you could give me. I just don't know how to go about preparing because I know we could have all the ammo and storable food and what have you in the world, but eventually my medical handicap would slow us down.
Thanks to all.

If the crap hits the fan I will most likely go rambo since most of my family doesn't believe this sorta stuff. However if it does happen I will indeed have weapons and surprises (that my friend is a secret)
but i do have a question: WILL THIS AFFECT CANADIANS??!!!
If not i have absolutly no reason for being here
Also to my question above, if it depends on where you live i live VERY close to the US border

My husband also has type 1 diabetes. We recently bought a year's supply of each of the types of insulin he takes (and needles) and hope to get more, but also hope the healthier lifestyle we will soon be living (producing most of our own food) will reduce his need for the shots. Luckily the insulin we bought does not expire for a couple years and we will be using stock rotation to ensure he doesn't take any expired doses. There are some foods that produce insulin, you may want to look into that. I have searched for years for an total alternative to his insulin but have not found one yet. I wish you and my husband the best of luck in the coming years.

Thanks a lot. I will look into stock piling the insulin. I'm also going to radically change my diet... I know if you don't eat any carbs and sugars, well, there's not a lot of need for insulin. My friend's little boy had diabetes, Type 1, and went from the high-sugar, fast food "typical American kid diet" to mainly fruits, veggies, greens, whole grain bread when he wanted bread, raw milk, and it was tough but a year later he was down to just a couple of units of insulin a day, no joke. Hardly nothing. I don't know if it would work for me and your husband, but it's worth a shot, I guess! My only concern would be dropping low... I always seem to drop low whenever I do anything strenuous or if I go more than a few hours between snacks/meals so I don't know if the veggie/fruit/all-natural diet would help or hurt that, you know what I mean? If your husband goes on a more natural diet mainly consisting of veggies and stuff, just keep a close eye on him for a while. Good luck to you and yours, as well.

I have a feeling that with in a few years it will be. So yeah, i have got seeds, alot of arrows and my trusty Bow. pretty much good survival gear. i know i will have to protect my parents and my wife so thats gonna be hard for sure. I can say for sure, if it comes to that for sure, if your in a uniform in my area you will get an arrow in you no questions asked.

yea.... i am definitely NOT looking forward to a disaster in which martial law is declared. being in los angeles at a young age, many routes will be blocked. not to mention my family absolutely not believing me, and accepting FEMA camps, I just truly hope i dont have to leave them behind. i'm in the process of creating a bug-out bag and route for all of us though, i pick up my gun the end of the week. does anyone have any suggestions for maps or sites with trails or whatnot? i have access to many physical maps including topo and i have google earth.

IF this does happen I'm guessing your possition is deffinetly shitty. Your on a f**king island for gods sake. Islands would be WAY easier to lock down since they could take control of the bridges and would most likely have search boats in the water. however, lucky for you i don't theres any fema camps near vancouver theres at least 1 in alberta i know that for a fact. alberta is where im moving to.....

Currently I'm living in Sydney, so not particulary a good area! unfortunately I am only 23 so I do not have enough money to outside the city. Is their any other Australian's looking to get prepared? I can suggest some Freeze Dried food & Dehydrated foods. I am also looking into a Freeze Dried food supplier in NZ. I am currently looking into making a plan to both flee the city or to relocate to another suitable location.
So again a shout out to Sydney-siders looking to escape the doom ahead please pm me if you need any help.
