Drasamis, you hit the nail right on the head. I know I have held off for many, many years from reaching out to others and discussing my thoughts. There have always been narcs (what we called them in school) trying to infiltrate and report on activities and whereabouts and now there are even more. Just ask any biker gang or separitist religious group.

I watched Ruby Ridge, Waco and the Branch Davidians go down as law enforcement rolled up to the gates in the name of public safety. Bigger target? Yes. Bigger threat? maybe, but IMO we stand a better chance as a group in a commune as opposed to a shack in the woods. I would much rather stand up to a siege condition than be picked off trying to gather lunch in the woods.
Ain't that the truth, my friend. At least one can know one has died for the glory of the common good. Information is sacred to me, and freedom to access to information even more so. My only regret is not knowing more people who I could "cloud" with, per se in Australia.

A quote that has been drummed into my head since childhood by my mother, "Knowledge is the one thing they can never take away from you." My mother got it from her grandfather who came from the old country (Poland) and survived the German invasion.

With all that I hear and see going on in the U.K. and Europe, it is a sure bet that the timetable for stamping out freedom has been accelerated.

dude, come on now, nice posters. did you know this is pentagon/cia.

not just the test, but the the whole thing. they're listening, your right about that.

Ah, the Microsoft Mojave Experiment crap being used to con the slaves back into enslavement. What gets me about the Mojave DVR commercial is the actors are paid to say how DVR'ing on Vista is better than having a Tivo while conveniently failing to mention freeware solutions such as MythTV and Mythbuntu. In Microsoft's narrow view, free alternatives to their crapware don't exist, and if you say they do exist, you'll be labeled a conspiracy theorist and a shill for anti-capitalism. After I get a new power supply and a new WinTV PVR-150 or PVR-250, I'm removing Vista and Xubuntu and replacing both with Mythbuntu and convert my desktop into a Mythbox.

just listening.. Roll Eyes

Would you like to test-shoot VERY old Police Surplus armor?

If you'd like to test-shoot a 20+ year old vest to see just how good VERY old armor is, one panel is just $25. It has always stopped 9mm FMJ, and .357 Magnum JSP for us.

Pre-1987 vests are on the old NIJ 0101.02 standard and so, for legal reasons, we don't sell these vests for life-saving protection.

NIJ 0101.02 Standard NOT SOLD FOR THE PROTECTION OF LIFE OR PROPERTY.

By Gary Poyssick

A lot of people ask us about the best way to clean fish, and our normal response is to ask them what they intend to do with them. Depending on your intended recipe, there are three primary ways to clean a fish.

The first is to clean them for baking or grilling in foil. This essentially leaves them whole. You clean out the stomach cavity, remove the gills and surrounding tissue, and scale them. Leaving the head on is a personal choice and also dictated by the recipe. Most large bodied fish can be prepared this way, including grouper, redfish, and (our personal favorite) pompano. So-called "puppy" drum - immature versions of the clownlike giants we find under the Bay bridges are another great candidate for cleaning in this way. Snook don't qualify, by the way - leaving the skin on results in a distinctive soapy taste. Back in the days before someone tried stripping the skin off they were actually called "soapfish."

The next way to clean a fish is to turn it into steaks. Longer, more streamlined fish are better suited for steaking. Local species that are popular candidates for steak recipes are Kingfish, Mackeral, and Cobia (yummm!). Imports include swordfish (don't eat them!!! They're almost all dead!!!!) and wahoo (wonderful).

To steak a fish, clean out the stomach cavity, snip off all the fins (you can leave the tail to use as a handle), and start slicing vertically through the body just behind the gill plate. Keep about three vertebrae in each steak - keeping the steaks at least 4 inches thick to allow for proper cooking - you don't want them to get done too fast or they tend to dry out. Grilling, broiling, or smoking are the best way to prepare steaks. A great recipe for steaks is to mix any of your favorite salad dressings and a few tablespoons of parmesan cheese. Coat the steaks liberally with the mix and grill them close to the burner - fast and hot. We tend to like our fish somewhat rare, and this results in the equivalent of a "Pittsburgh" or "Black and Blue." Raw on the inside, burnt on the outside.

The third way is arguably the most complicated to learn, but unquestionably the most versatile when it comes to using the fish - and that's filleting. A well-done fillet results in totally boneless meat - which can be grilled, fried, cut into chunks, used in stews, you name it. There's nothing in the world like a good Snook or Redfish filet, except perhaps a flounder caught in the beautiful waters near the Skyway.

The filleting process essentially "skins" the meat off the bone. There are two ways to filet a fish - starting at the head or starting at the tail. Personally, I fillet from the tail to the head, but most people I know find it easier to start at the head and work back. That's the way we're going to describe.

We've included a few images with this article, which we hope will assist you in learning how to prepare a good filet. Doing it well is like anything else - it takes practice. Your first attempts are likely to result in a ragged, thin, and ripped piece of meat, with most of the flesh still on the carcass. As you practice, though, you'll get to the point where the only thing left are skin and bones - with a smooth, solid, and intact filet from each side of the fish's body.

The first thing to know is how the fish is built, and where the filet comes from. Take a look at the image above and notice the gill plate. From both the top and side views, you'll also see the rib cage. The cage covers the contents of the stomach. It's a good idea not to cut into the stomach while you're filleting. The acids will affect the taste of the meat. Once you're done and have the meat off the bone, you should inspect the stomach to see what the fish was eating before he found your DOA shrimp.  We always, always inspect the contents of the fish's stomach. We've found strange and wonderful things there.

In the keys about eight years ago, we caught a beautiful 50lb bull dolphin. When we cleaned him, we found a 5 lb "chicken" dolphin in his stomach. It was so fresh we filleted him too. They were both great.

In a redfish caught by the Howard Frankland Bridge, we found about a dozen horseshoe crabs - each about 1 inch across. We haven't figured out how to get them in a castnet, so we can't comment on their efficacy as bait. But we bet it would be great.

The first thing to do is make a cut from near the gill down to the backbone. There's a lot of bone and hard cartilage directly over the gills, so you'll have to find the first soft (fleshy) point behind the gill. Holding the fish's head, slice down into this soft spot at a slight angle towards the tail. Look at the anatomy picture - all fish are built roughly the same way.

Slide the knife through this cut until it passes from the head out the other side of the fish, near the pec fins. You need to turn the knife blade so that it's lying flat to the backbone.

Use a slight - very slight - sawing motion to slice the meat from the backbone towards the tail. Make a slight slice, and adjust the knife to make sure it's actually scraping the backbone. Keep adjusting and slicing until you've reached the tail. Don't separate the meat from the tail, though. Leave just enough skin intact to hold it in place. Flip the fish over, keeping the nearly separated filet underneath the body. This provides support for the backbone while you're cutting the second filet. If you remove it too early, the backbone sags to the table and makes the second filet more difficult to remove cleanly. When you've made both cuts, remove the filets from the tail (and hence the body).

If you're going to throw the fish carcass into the bay (which is just fine - lot's of things are just dying to munch on those great bones), make sure you poke the eyes to remove the fluid. Otherwise the fish will float to the surface.

Also, please break or cut up the carcass into several pieces. If a pelican gets one of these intact bony structures stuck in its pouch, it could very well be seriously injured or kill the hapless bird.

At this point, you'll have two, (hopefully) whole and well-manicured filets - with skin on one side.

In most cases, you'll want to remove the skin. One exception is redfish - try leaving the scales and skin on the fish, and roasting them on the barbeque skin side down. For some reason, the armor-like skin and scales hold moisture in the filet and makes for an incredibly tasty, juicy dinner. Simply sprinkle a little garlic on the meat side before you start, and add a little olive oil or butter (better) when it starts to get hot. Test for doneness - when it's ready it will flake off the skin easily.

To skin the filets, grab the tail side with your fingernails, and slide the knife between the skin and the meat for about four inches or so. Cut a small slit in this skin (along the long axis, tail to head) and stick your finger in it. It will serve well as a handle for holding the skin while you slice the meat off.

One last thing. Don't try this with a dull knife. Sharpen the knife before you start, and keep a steel handy for touching up the blade during the process. The knife will be dull after only two fish, so keep it sharp.

How To Clean A Fish

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the catching, or even the buying, there are a few steps between the lake and your plate. While not for the eternally queasy, cleaning a fish is not as messy as one might think. And don't worry about the guts. It's part of the full fishy experience. Cover your work area with plenty of newspaper or heavy paper bags. Have a plastic bag handy for the guts, bones, etc. Make sure to seal them well before disposing.
Step 1: Prepare the body

First, wash the fish in cool running water to remove any slime. With a sharp knife, cut off the pectoral fins on both sides of the fish. Not all fish need scaling. If you're not sure, run the blade of the blunt knife at almost a 90 degree angle to the body from tail end to head. If the scales are thick and come up easily, you need to remove them. Continue until the body is smooth.

Step 2: Gut the fish
Using the sharp knife, drive the blade point into the vent (small anal opening near the tail, where the body begins to widen). Cut right through the belly all the way to the gills. Remove the guts from the cavity. With the spoon, scoop out the dark reddish-brown kidney line that lies along the backbone. Important: Cut out all parts of the gills.

Step 3: Remove Head and Tail

Cut the head off right below the gills. Cut the tail where it joins the body.
Step 4: Remove Dorsal Fin and Bones
Cut along the length of each side of the dorsal fin (top) of the fish. Remove the dorsal fin and connected bones by giving a quick pull from tail end to head. This step is not essential, but eliminates those tiny, annoying bones that can ruin a meal.

Build Your Own Electroscope and Radiation Detector

INTRODUCTION
An electroscope is a device that is used to demonstrate properties of static electricty. Static electricity is a phenomenom that takes many forms. It can be an electric shock you can get after walking over a carpet, or it can be a lightning bolt from the sky. The electroscope demonstrates the repulsive force that is exerted between two nearby objects with the same electric charge. This page tells how you can make your own electroscope from materials commonly found in your house.

The design of this device was described in the Omaha World Herald's "This Week Magazine" in the late 1950,s, a time when the fear of nuclear war and the resulting nuclear radiation was very real. It was billed as a simple device for detecting dangerous levels of this radiation. But it is also useful for demonstrating repulsive forces associated with static electrity.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MATERIALS

Synthetic thread (nylon preferred).
Aluminum foil.
One quarter dollar or something with similar diameter.
A glass jar (Select one that is as wide as possible).
A metal jar or can lid to fit over the top.
A drill or punch to put holes through the jar lid.
A plastic comb and hair to generate static electricity.

PROCEDURE

Using the quarter, trace and cut out two circles of aluminum foil.
Stretch two 1 foot lengths of thread upon a flat surface.
Put a bend about 1/32 inch in from the edge of each circle.
Attach one circle to each thread in the middle by folding this bend over the thread.

Drill a hole on opposite sides of the lid. The distance between them should be about 1/2 inch less than the inside diameter of the mouth of the jar.
Slip the ends of the threads through the holes and secure with tape so that the foil circles are suspended as shown in the illustration. Put the lid on the jar so that the circles hang inside it. There should be plenty of clearance between the circles and the walls of the jar. Cut off excess thread.
Remove the lid and line the inside of the jar with aluminum foil. Cut the foil so that there are two windows on each side of the glass. They should be lined up so that you can easily see the circles when they are hanging inside the jar.

Draw a simple scale on a small piece of paper with lines about 1/8 inches apart. Tape it horizontally under one of the windows so that you can measure the distance between the two circles hanging inside.

CHARGING UP THE ELECTROSCOPE
Run a plastic comb through your hair and touch it to the circles. After a moment of attraction they will repel each other. The static electricity will hold them about an inch apart.

Carefully hang the circles in the jar, trying to keep them from touching the aluminum foil liner. If necessary, a quick touch of one of the circles with the inside wall will reduce the gap between them, making this action easier.

HOW IT WORKS
Rubbing a comb in your hair puts a positive charge on the comb. Touching the comb to the circles transfers some of the charge to them. Because of their light weight, static electric repulsive forces push them apart.

The foil lined jar serves as an electrostatic "bottle" that slows the rate at which the charge leaks away. This loss of charge will happen more rapidly in a location where there is nuclear radiation. Impacts of beta rays, high energy negatively charged electrons, will cause the circles to lose their positive charges. Therefore the gap between the circles will close more rapidly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DETECTING RADIATION
This device can be used to detect dangerous levels of beta radiation. It will not detect other forms of nuclear radiation. Alpha particles are positively charged, but they are too massive to penetrate the glass. Gamma rays and neutrons can hit the circles, but because they have no charge, they have no significant effect.

I recently discovered I still have the instructions for calculating radiation levels using the electroscope. There will be a possibility of error because I do not remember for sure the spacing between the line on the scale. (I think it is 1/8 inch, but it could be 1/16 inch.)

Multiply the number of seconds for the leaves to go together from one pair of scale lines to the next, by ten. The value you get is the number of hours of exposure you can survive at the current radiation level. A time of 600 seconds (10 minutes) indicates no significant radiation. Under normal conditions, it should take between ten and thirty minutes for the leaves to move from one pair of scale lines to the next.

You may have some potential low level radiation sources to test with your electroscope. Color televisions, especially the oldest ones, emit radiation, mostly from the top and sides. Smoke detectors, may also give off some radiation. If you have access to radioctive isotopes in a nuclear lab, you could put it inside the jar for maximum effect. (Don't have anything to do with nuclear isotopes unless you know what you are doing!) I have never done any experiments like this. Please let me know if one works for you. Forget about microwave ovens. Their radiation is much different.

So, have fun experimenting with your electroscope. And, if there ever is (heaven forbid) a nuclear holocaust or nuclear reactor meltdown, you'll be ready.

The Dakota Fire Hole

A little known survival aid related to wilderness fire making skills is the Dakota Fire Hole, also known as the Dakota Fire Pit. This handy device is easy to construct and has marked advantages over other types of camp fire constructs. Once you make a Dakota fire hole and try it out, you may choose to use this method on a regular basis.

Making a Dakota Fire Hole is initially more labor intensive than simply building a fire on the surface of the ground. However the outlay in energy required to make a Dakota fire hole is more than offset by its efficient consumption of fuel; it greatly reduces the amount of firewood required to cook meals, treat water to destroy pathogens, or warm your body.

The Dakota fire hole is a valuable wilderness survival aid because it burns fuel more efficiently, producing hotter fires with less wood. In many areas firewood is scarce or requires a large amount of time and expenditure of energy in foraging to obtain it. Once you build a fire, efforts are better spent attending to your other wilderness survival needs rather than in the constant gathering of firewood

Other advantages of the Dakota fire hole are that it creates a kind of woodstove with a stable platform that is very convenient to cook over.

Should you need to conceal your fire, the fire hole will limit the amount of visible smoke that rises from the fire, since the fuel wood is burning hotter and more efficiently. The pit will also help conceal the light emitted from your fire, especially at night when even a single candle flame can be seen from miles away.

Where to Build a Dakota Fire Hole
Before you start to dig your Dakota fire hole you should scout out an area where soil conditions are conducive to its proper construction. You will want to avoid areas

that are rocky and difficult to dig.
with thick tree roots that require cutting.
that are wet or where a dug hole will fill with water.
With soil conditions such as dry loose sand that will not hold shape as it is dug into.

The usual requirements related to general fire craft and care always apply. As always, treat the wilderness areas you enjoy and count on to survive with respect. Be sure you do not make a Dakota Fire Hole in conditions where out of control wild fires are a possibility and avoid ecologically sensitive areas. Try not to injure the roots of trees and plants.

Follow local ordinances regarding the making of fires; these rules are in place for good reason.

Making a Dakota Fire Hole
Now that we have the introduction taken care of, we can make a Dakota Fire Hole. As shown in the picture, I am using an army folding shovel to dig with. Many wilderness survivors carry a small hand trowel for the burying of human wastes and this also works well. A strong stick or part from your mess kit can also be utilized for digging holes in a pinch; survival experts are experts at innovation so use whatever means you have available.

Making the Fire Pit Chamber
Having selected a likely area in which to dig the fire hole, first remove a plug of soil and plant roots in the form of a circle about 10 or 12 inches in diameter. Continue digging straight down to a depth of about one-foot being sure to save the plug and the soil you removed for replacement later on.

This part of the Dakota fire hole will serve as the main chamber that contains the fire. I prefer to extend the base of the fire chamber outward a couple of inches in all directions so that it can accommodate longer pieces of firewood. This saves time and energy in breaking up firewood into suitable lengths, and also has the effect of allowing larger and therefore hotter fires.

The effect is a jug-shaped hole at the base of which you place firewood. The neck of the jug will serve as a chimney of sorts the function of which is to increase the draft and concentrate the heat of the fire into the small opening.

Making the Fire Hole Airway
Now comes the key component of the Dakota hole that makes this fire making method so effective; the airway.

Before you start on the airway tunnel, determine the general direction of the wind. If the wind is too light to easily ascertain its direction you can often lick a finger and hold it up, being sure it is away from any obstructions. Evaporative cooling on one side or the other of your appendage will be felt from which direction the wind, however light, is blowing. That is the side of the fire hole on which to construct the airway.

Dig a 6-inch diameter airway tunnel starting about one foot away from the edge of the fire hole. Angle its construction so that the tunnel intersects with the base of the fire chamber as shown in the diagram and picture. As when you made the fire hole section, be sure to save the plug containing the vegetation and roots as well as the loose soil you remove.

Using the Dakota Fire Hole
Now that the Dakota Fire Hole is properly constructed, you can partially fill the fire pit chamber with dry combustible kindling materials and light the fire.

To start the fire I am using a FireSteel, the kind Survival Topics highly recommends to be included in every survival kit. These firesteels from FireSteel.com work even when wet and will literally light thousands of fires before wearing out – try doing that with matches or a lighter! We sell high quality Firesteels at the lowest prices in the Survival Supplies section of this website. Help support this website and buy them here - I guarantee a quality product.

Light the Fire

Using a Survival Topics firesteel I am lighting the fire.

These firesteels always work, no matter how wet the conditions. Able to start thousands of fires, you can buy your own firesteels at the Survival Topics Survival Supply store.

Once the flame is going strong, drop it into the fire pit so that it catches the kindling on fire; gradually add sticks so that a strong hot fire is maintained.

How a Dakota Fire Hole Works
The accompanying diagram shows the secret of what makes the Dakota Firehole so effective. As the fire burns, the hot air that is created goes up through the fire hole “chimney”. This creates a suction action that forcefully draws air down through the tunnel and into the base of the fire. The draft is increased even more by your having constructed the tunnel on the side from which the prevailing wind is coming.

Acting as a kind of bellows, the flames are continuously fanned and the fire burns hotter and more efficiently than a fire that is simply made on the surface to the ground. Hotter fires mean less smoke. In addition, the heat of the fire is concentrated into an upward direction where you can better capture it for use. This allows you to do more with less wood – an excellent survival fire by any measure.

Fire Hole Improvements
Once you have made the Dakota fire hole you can easily set up a cooking surface for pots and pans by laying several parallel green sticks across the fire pit as show in the picture. Lacking camp cooking gear you can also find a flat rock that only partially covers the hole – and use it as a sort of hobo frying pan.

It is also an easy matter to set a “Y” shaped stick into the ground onto which is rested a green pole with bannock dough, fish, or other outdoor meal. For more information on the wilderness survival staple known as bannock read the Survival Topic on How to Make Bannock.

Dakota Fire Pit Diagram
This is how a Dakota Fire Hole works.
As hot air from the fire exits through the top of the fire pit, a suction is created that draws fresh air down through the tunnel and into the base of the fire. This brings in plenty of fresh oxygen for combustion. A cycle develops: The hotter the fire gets, the more air is drawn down into the fire pit - making the fire hotter.

Campfire Cleanup

When it is time to leave the area, be a responsible wilderness survivor who values the land you need for survival. Fill in the Dakota fire hole with the dirt you removed and saved when you were constructing it. Then replace the cap of vegetation. Doing so serves the double purpose of extinguishing the fire and leaving as little trace of your visit as possible.

In summary, the main advantages of using a Dakota Fire Hole include:

burns hotter
with less fuel
producing less smoke
less light visible to those you do not want to find you
providing a stable cooking surface
easy extinguishing of the fire
and removal of evidence you have been there when you are preparing to leave.
There can be no doubt, making the Dakota Fire Hole one of the best types of survival fires you can make when surviving in the wilderness.

We all know that we're being downsized by the NWO.

And we all know that as a result of downsizing, many more businesses and millions of jobs will be eliminated in the near future.

With that knowledge, we should already be prepared - or at least be preparing - for an alternative income to meet our current expenses.

What's your plan?

GET YOUR HANDS IN THE DIRT
plow up your back yard, find unused weedy lots and get permission to plant it, get food in the ground and learn to sell it. Organize others to do the same.  THese are the jobs that will fight the NWO, NOT computer related stuff.  Learn to live with less, simply, sell the car, use a bicycle, save on insurance!  Bike to the neighborhood gardens you have started and organized.  Do workshops in area churches.

My wife and I have several back-up plans. We have a large family and one of our constant/ongoing projects is finding ways to save and to lower our monthly budget. It's a big deal because we home school and I'm the sole bread winner - every extra penny counts.

So - we're putting our budgeting experience to work. We're preparing to offer savvy savings consulting and an array of tools to households in our community who are seeking to get by on less. Our fee will be a mere percentage of the savings a household will realize over their first month. In the last six months we've cut our spending by almost 40% with no adjustment of lifestyle. At the same time, we've increased our income.

We also have several local consortium related business plans that we're going to look at rolling out in the next few months. They're community oriented and designed for non-currency related trade, sharing, and production of produce and local goods. The goal of these ideas isn't to produce income - it's to provide a sustainable community in the face of economic failure.

I have no more work and no more income. Any money making ideas are welcome, mostly on the internet. I would not mind doing cleaning or other labour jobs if I did not have this serious back/spine problem. Life is very cruel to some of us especially in this country where age discrimination is the rule and someone older like myself has no more chance of finding company jobs. Also minorities preference is very strong here, even without the qualifications they get preferential hire for all the jobs that exist (they call it "positive" discrimination). This is disgusting!

I'm actually getting ready to leave the retail industry.  I'm really tired of selling Asian souls trapped inside little plastic caskets day in and day out.  My plan is to become a certified personal fitness trainer and nutritionist.  Hopefully, I can this way help people be healthy and happier and at the same time educate them about the dangers of corporate GMO foods fluoridated tap water the NWO and so on.  Also I will get to work out all time  Grin Cool

Well,I have been living my backup plan for several years here in the bush of Alaska.I hunt, raise much of my own veggies and paid cash for the land and built the cabin almost entirely with wood from my land.I still have my pickup,4 wheeler and snow machine and I have had to go to Sat systems for the net and TV and phone as well as Ham radio, but I am living better for less with no crime.
Now,when the govt didn't try to help us,any if us with higher fuel prices,I said F*&k em and got heat assistance and let the govt pay 95% of my heating barrell fuel costs. When groceries went sky high and the govt wouldn't help any of us,I went ahead and got an EBT card or 175.00 in groceries.
Yep,I am getting my share, hell yes.I worked many many years and never took anything, but when I saw my govt take from me/us with absolutely no concern for our well being,I just decided to get what I have at least paid for unlike so many, who have never worked a day in their lives or have moved here to the US to rape the system. And I feel even better about it as I watch the Feds piss away money on these large companies in the name of bail out.
It's your people,Go get it,Stock up on the food with the card, heat assistance is going to save you enough to help with other small costs.Check your community action,IT'S FREE,and they will winterize your home under a DOE grant,AND IT"S FREE,you already paid for it.
This govt has been screwin you for years, this is your chance to take what they are offering you for free, and use it to your advantage before TSHTF,USE IT.
Use every dam thing they will offer you, cause it's probably not gonna be around later, and if that does happen, you can look at your full pantry and full fuel tank and winterized home etc etc and say to yourselves,,I sure am glad I did this while everyone else is wondering where the next meal is coming from, and what the heck, you may be able to even share some to those that were to stupid/proud to take what they already paid for.

Good posts. Health care work is still very viable but we in this field may eventually have to make ethical decisions against the NWO that could result in the loss of jobs. I am hoping that this will lead to the revival of the traditional charitable hospital; but there are movements in legislative bodies that want to outlaw charity. In the charitable model, the health care workers still got paid and work tended to be more efficient and thoughtful.

One question I have.... we all pay into this medical "system" with our taxes, right? At least partially. So why do we all have private health insurance? Arent we ALREADY paying for health care through taxes?

Hello. If you are talking about the US, yes we pay into this system but medicare and medicaid tend to be inefficient low quality health insurance programs that are run by the government. You also must have low income/age requirements. They are also arms of the culture of death.

After waking up and seeing a particularly morbid coverage on CNN where they have picked some random small town and basically film people losing their jobs this has been one thing I began to make preparations for. I feel pretty secure in my job, but I want to be ready if it does come about so have been making small changes in my life to be better prepared for the worse. I’ve made some pretty drastic changes in my spending patterns and started looking into and adopting more self sustaining means of life.

I just remember watching that horrid news cast where CNN was there filming this small town just sink into a depression and so many of the people they interviewed seemed completely helpless! Having been awaked, I was watching it as a depopulation scheme being documented for these NWO bastards! If these poor people didn’t kill themselves they would be prime subjects to be taken off to FEMA camps. And they (NWO) has the audacity to just film this and broadcast nation wide! Going back once a month to give us a view of the life has changed in this small town community.

I believe it was really seeing their expressions, reactions, and fears after having everything they known being stripped from them that I made up my mind I’m not letting that happen to me. I just wanted to scream at the people that all isn’t lost! One cook had to shut down his dinner and everyone was wondering around lost and hopeless, but I was thinking doesn’t one of you have the idea to work together and establish a community garden and livestock and have your dinner for the good of everyone in that town than the money. It was such a small town and I could see it still operating flawlessly if they where not bought in so much by the dollar and paying the Gov. its dues.

In my situation if I do lose my job, I would mostly likely end up losing my house being single and still owing 29 years more payments. But I’m prepared to live without, or am preparing now to be able to do with out. It may be easier for me than others, but I was raised to be thankful for what we have and that nothing (material) is forever and thankfully have broken fully out of the system to see the real picture.

And after being a perfect upstanding citizen if the gov. is going to screw me, I figure I might as well try to get some fun out of it by skipping a few bills in favor of ammo and fattening my bug out bag.

Or plan B. Move in with the folks and look for a job while still putting into practice a healthier, more self sustaining life style to further separate myself from needing big brothers protection.

Local communities will have great need in the areas of security, food, transportation and information.

Security would be a hard route without some armor, but with an increase in crime/riots just around the bend, one could put together a pretty good security company with just a few trusted officers (recruit guards later), some decent commo gear, and a light skinned vehicle (http://www.armyjeeps.net/armor1.htm) and you'd be overworked.

Food- local farms, canning operations, distribution operations and markets in which to sell stuffs (anyone see CBS' "Jericho?)

Transportation- Alcohol conversions for engines, alcohol production, HHO conversions, horse training / yoke & carriage construction.

Information- local low power FM stations, news, shortwave, satelite links - Inet & cross traffic. Low energy draw print machinery for flyers. CB / local radio network for information dissemination/collection.

Any aspect of this would be beneficial.   Listening to Gerald Celente, its going to be hard and cold before we're going to get a chance at making it warm an easy.

I see your points, but those aren't the kinds of steps we're currently looking at. Realistically, right now most people aren't concerned with physical security when they're at home watching Sunday football. They're concerned with how they're gonna get the riding lawnmower fixed before spring. Or what they can do to lower their food bill.

These are the kinds of things that we're looking at. We'll follow a business model, but in reality, it's a word-of-mouth, door-to-door, neighborhood structure that we hope to implement. The profit won't be realized in currency or any kind of tangible asset. The profit will reveal itself when person A need his roof repaired, person B needs his lawn cut, and person C can help both in return for some carrots and the use of someones spare refrigerator.

That's what we're looking at. Not something that will turn anyone off because they think we're counter culture or tinfoil hat nutjobs (which they would certainly accuse me of if I told them the truth about my concerns!). A basic plan for "at will" resource "participation" (rather than sharing) that lays a foundation for the community to turn "to" each other rather than "on" each other if times get extremely difficult.

I see your points, but those aren't the kinds of steps we're currently looking at.

I hope the timeline of the things-to-come keeps with your over-looking security issues. When I hear the words "food/tax riots" from the top trends guy, I don't think starting a security company is a bad idea. When things get too rough, one would never be able to invest in a skinned veh. (I confess I know of folks with resource who are considering starting their own security companies, as it definately will be a needed community resource).

I hope you're right, and we have a gentle grade of decent, and not too precipitous. "Yet" is the biggest 3 letter word in the English language.

Don't get me wrong - I agree that there will eventually be a need for security, but the average person who's concerned with the economy is much more focused on last weekends sports performance than they are with security. In fact, the average person I talk to is still talking about how their real estate investments will pan out - once this "slump" passes.

So, because of that, my approach is to get the ball rolling with a low-level approach. Rather than approaching my neighbors and saying "we should invest in guns and talk about securing perimeters in case the SHTF, we'll be engaging them to consider participating in a neighborhood program to enable us to weather a worsening economy.

Security is clearly a concern, but message is critical to build unity. Rather than turn people away with concerns that are typically limited to this kind of discussion board (most of my neigbors are engineering types, bank employees, small business owners etc. 2.4 kids, dog, late model cars blah blah blah), the goal is to build a foundation of neighborhood cooperation and trust. Once that is uder way, we can start talking security. Especially as things get worse.

Until then, we're working on cooperation.

With regards to prayer, I definitely agree with that one. Lots of it. It gives hope and opens our minds to new and creative means to help ourselves.

I used to be a high flyer (in the proper sense) now I have to go on the cheap. It's allright I have had some of the best life before and lost it as all the work I had went away. Now I am going on the cheap, still travelling the world when I can but again on the cheap. It's more youth hostels than 5 stars like I used to and no more supersonic flights not even anymore upgrades to Business or First. I am happy to fly in Economy still with the same airlines because of all the years and accumulated miles. I wish I could find a way to work from home. Some make zillions doing internet marketing, affiliate sales and all but it doesn't always work. We are not all IM gurus like some are. I hope I can get out of the slump these times are difficult and we don't know what's next. I am training myself to eat little, always quality food but in small small quantities and always as meatless as I can though I like to eat qualiity canned fish. I even skip meals. This way if the real trouble happens I will be trained not to have to eat much. I am not sure if this is a good idea but this is how it goes for the time being.
