From one computer model I saw, they tend to bleed off energy the further they go. However, the shape pof the land they approach can dramatically stregthen the wave force, and in lets can magnify it as well.

Since the speed of the tsunami is related to the water depth, as the depth of the water decreases, the speed of the tsunami diminishes. The change of total energy of the tsunami remains constant. If I was in California I'd be heading for the hills soon.
I'm heading down to the cliffs above La Jolla in just a few. I doubt it will amont to much in the San Diego area but up near Ventura and Santa Barbara it might be a different story. I'll post pictures if there is anything notable. |

Worse is the wrong word... stronger would be what they are saying. The difference between this and Haiti... Chile is not a 3rd world country of tin shacks and the quake didn't hit a population of 3 million people who had nothing to begin with. |

I was just watching CNN and they are playing recent videos sent, there are buildings fallen sideways and lots of damage-- certainly not the same as in Haiti where they were living in huts and they collapsed with thousands of people in a certain area. There are 147 dead or so, but the question now becomes-- when another area becomes affected by a "state of catastrophe" do we rush in there to rebuild? Two days ago Ben Fulford was saying they are just going to create natural disasters and that will be the reason to invade. Are we going to launch an international relief effort to Chile?

I saw a Chilean ambassador being interviewed and when asked about whether help would be needed from outside, he was confident the country and the people could handle any of the issues which would arise. |
