Austin, Texas: paranoid politics central

Joseph Stack's views don't fit neatly into the partisan politics of the US, but central Texas is where conspiracy theories take root

Yesterday, tragedy hit Austin, Texas, the place where I'd lived for 14 years and only moved away from two months ago. A man tentatively identified as 53-year-old Joseph Stack, flew his small plane into the seven-storey IRS building in North Austin, after setting fire to his own home and leaving a lengthy suicide note on his website. The note was surprisingly lucid for a man committing an act universally seen as crazy, and it spelled out his mostly political grievances, with a call to arms at the end for those who share them. And yet, many commentators and the US government are reluctant to call this a terrorist act, though it fits neatly within the FBI's definition of domestic terrorism. They shouldn't be, because Stack did this in the cultural capital of paranoid politics.

Part of the reluctance to define this as terrorism is the fact that Stack's politics don't map out neatly on the partisan landscape of the US, unlike the politics of other domestic terrorists such as abortion doctor killers and rightwing extremists like Timothy McVeigh. Stack complained about his taxes, but he also complained about the inability of politicians to reform the healthcare system. Without a coherent ideology to pin on him, most people had trouble seeing Stack as a terrorist. But I recognised his type immediately, having lived the majority of my life in the area. Call them the nihilists or the political paranoids, but Austin and the surrounding areas of Texas are the cultural centre for a certain brand of paranoid politics that stretches far beyond partisanship and sees enemies and conspiracies around every corner. They hated Bill Clinton, but they hated George Bush, too. They're mostly very conservative, but they attract left-leaning paranoids, who share their affection for conspiracy theories. Stack indicated in his note a long relationship with the political fringe, going back to participating in anti-tax schemes in California.

Sure, Austin is mostly known as a Democratic stronghold. But if you live there for even a short period of time (as Stack had), you can't miss the paranoid culture. The biggest media empire in the US for disseminating unhinged conspiracy theories is located in Austin. The website for this empire is Infowars, and the radio show that's broadcast to over 60 stations nationwide is called the Alex Jones Show. Jones's politics are ostensibly libertarian-conservative, but really, his ideology is paranoia. His empire sucks in rightwingers with conspiracy theories that feed the militia gun culture, but they also love conspiracy theories that appeal more to the left, such as the belief that 9/11 was an "inside job". And then there are unclassifiable ones, such as the belief that gatherings of elitist power players at the Bohemian Grove are actually Satanic rituals.

Jones is a local celebrity in Austin, treated indulgently if not taken too seriously. You can be reasonably certain that someone with unhinged beliefs like Stack was aware of the strong culture of political paranoia in the area when he committed this terrorist act. Most places in the country, his call to arms would come across as simply ineffectual. But central Texas is where the conspiracy theories that inspired Timothy McVeigh to blow up a federal building in Oklahoma take root and spread like weeds. I predict the conspiracy theory machine is already working overtime to produce some narrative blaming this on the government and painting Stack as a victim, if not a hero. Facebook groups have already started to pop up celebrating Stack as a tax protester. Because of this, we cannot write Stack off as a lone wolf. Just because he likely didn't conspire with others directly doesn't mean he wasn't sending off a signal to the paranoid malcontents of America. And they are listening.

My estimation: probably a useful idiot 'liberal' - her only paranoid streak might be her doomsday apocalyptic visions of the world coming to an end due to tah greenhouse gas emissions and getting her panties all worked up over fraudulent IPCC charts and baloney thought up by fraudulent climatologists. At least Alex gets worked up over 'real' issues that are not the sole imagination of some fraudulent United Nations, politically motivated group that wants to sell 'socialism 2.0/eugenics 2.0' as an established science - as their liberal forebears did all the way back with eugenics).

And of course, let's not all forget their favorite darlings, George Bernard Shaw (who came up with the idea behind the gas chambers and the 'humane gas' Cyclon-B - and yes, he wanted to KILL mass amounts of people and thought nothing of it) and Adolf Hitler (the guy who implemented all of Shaw's ideas and was seen as the most 'progressive' leader when it came to the issue of 'eugenics' - in the same way that Obama is seen as the most 'progressive' when it comes to climate change/global warming.

This is what people have got to get through their heads - GEORGE BERNARD SHAW (NOT HITLER) ACTUALLY PROPOSED THE GAS CHAMBERS AND THE CONCENTRATION CAMPS BACK IN 1910. He was the biggest darling of the liberal left - he still is to a degree even though his true disgusting nature has finally been revealed to the world. George Bernard Shaw believed in killing mass amounts of the 'wrong sort', but 'humanely', - as in, putting them in a chamber and filling it with carbon monoxide.
WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU ABOUT THE ENTIRE LEFT? ONE OF THEIR MANY CHAMPIONS OPENLY SUPPORTED MUSSOLINI AND HITLER AND HE DREAMT UP THE IDEAS BEHIND THE NAZI DEATH CAMPS!!!

Sickening, disgusting pieces of inhuman vile filth these liberal sycophants are - I am at a loss for words to properly express my pure vomit-inducing disgust for these cockroaches purporting to be human. Their entire philosophy and what they stand for is bankrupt and illegitimate from the get-go - they are mutilated Communists - hell, the Communists knew what they were and were proud of it - these disgusting chickennecks are so dumbed down and so f**king stupid, they don't even know (or want to acknowledge) their TRUE ROOTS.

Poll: Americans Angry at Feds

Americans are overwhelmingly angry at the U.S. government and is nearly as let down by the lack of ideas from both political parties, a new poll by Rasmussen Reports revealed Tuesday.

Sixty-six percent of voters in a national poll said they're angry at the policies of the federal government, including 36 percent who counted themselves as very angry.

Thirty percent are not really angry, including 10 percent of whom say they aren't angry at all.

Among those most angry are Republicans -- 90 percent of whom say they are somewhat or very angry. Seventy-seven percent of independents are angry and just 44 percent of Democrats are peeved.

Among those suggesting anger abounds falls a majority of Republicans, Democrats and independents -- 59 percent overall -- who say the anger is greater now than it was during the Bush administration.

But few believe that the political parties have an answer. Of those surveyed, 60 percent said neither Republicans nor Democrats understand what is needed and among those who claimed to be very angry, that number rises to 80 percent.

Forty-three percent of people say they are at least partly concerned that the anger could turn violent. That fear breaks down among party lines with 63 percent of Democrats saying they are concerned and 71 percent of Republicans saying they are not concerned. Sixty-one percent of independents are also not concerned.

Additionally, those who are most angry are least concerned about violence. Among the 36 percent who are very angry at the government, only 15 percent say they are very concerned about the possibility of violence. But 51 percent of those who are not angry at all say they fear violence.

The poll of 1,000 adults was taken Sept. 20-21 and has a margin of error of 3 points.

the UK's Guardian psychopathic conspiracy theorists are blaming peaceful and uncorporatized news agencies for Bilderberg false flag terrorism attacks!

Oh man, AJ, Infowars, and anyone interested in truth can sue the Guardian straight up for libel, defamation of character, false accusations, spreading false propaganda for the benefit of a political outcome (US Patriot Act violation), terrorism, etc.

Hey FBI...Investigate the Guardian, the attack is not even a few days old and The Guardian already has the conspirators red handed, how is this possible? Who is investigating The Guardian for their information?

THIS IS AN ATTACK ON FREEDOM AND THE ONES PUSHING THIS SHIT ARE THE SAME ONES THAT GOT THE BUILDING 7 SCRIPT 23 MINUTES EARLY!

THE ENTIRE PROGRAM WAS INITIATED WAY BEFORE THIS EVENT

MORE EVIDENCE THAT THIS IS A FALSE FLAG ATTACK!

Austin plane crash reveals populist fury

Joseph Stack flew his plane into an office block in protest at the US tax code, and some on the right are treating him as a hero

While members of Washington and Wall Street elites transfer the accumulated wealth of 200 years to themselves, the desperation in the rest of America becomes palpable. And today it hangs in the air like the smoke billowing from the Echelon Building here in Austin, into which Joseph Andrew Stack crashed a Piper Cherokee PA-28.

Stack's chief complaint was the American tax code, the right's go-to instrument of class warfare in America since Ronald Reagan's presidency. This warfare accelerated during Bush's tenure, as David Cay Johnston writes: "The effective income tax rate [of the top 400 family earners] fell to 16.62%, down more than half a percentage point from 17.17% in 2006, the new data show. That rate is lower than the typical effective income tax rate paid by Americans with incomes in the low six figures, which is what each taxpayer in the top group earned in the first three hours of 2007."

And now, instead of condemning the violence and loss of innocent life, as every citizen of the United States should do, many on the right are lionising Joseph Andrew Stack. While Massachusetts' newest Senator stopped short of praising Stack, he hardly condemned the violence. The right wing is riding the populist tiger.

In an era where the average time to get a new job for the unemployed is 30 weeks, and the average American pays more than 25% of their income in taxes, class warfare is reaching fever pitch. It has prevented us from investing in healthcare, education and infrastructure. It has reduced many of us to wage-slave penury, while some lucky middle class members are only subjected to a life of debt peonage, paying off astronomically high rates of interest on their accumulated debt, while the same elites enjoy virtually interest free loans from the Federal Reserve.

These same elites, through their corporate-owned media subsidiaries, have pit members of the middle class (on the left and the right) against each other, using a brilliant, decades-long campaign of misdirection, fuelled by such quaint and memorable phrases as "the death tax". Of course, the Democrats had a a chance to use populist anger for the common good by enacting smart policies that would move the country forward. But, instead of tackling the banking crisis head-on and a tax code run amok, Obama and the Democrats in Congress chose to ram through a universally unpopular healthcare bill.

In the process they ceded immense amounts of political capital and nearly universal populist anger in the country to unscrupulous malefactors of great wealth and their lackeys, politicians on the right. By not reining in the banks, slashing bonuses at AIG and raising taxes on anyone in America who makes more than a million dollars to a punitive level, they've given away America's wealth to the very people who created the crisis in the first place.

Oh my. Alex warned months ago that major hit pieces were coming out against him, directly. He said no more hints, no more general stuff. Just direct attacks at his name.

So, to see this attack in Austin, as Alex predicted, is nearly ONE HUNDRED PERCENT PROOF this was a false flag.

Alex said on his shows last Thursday and Friday that if the media is building him up, it's so they will take him down.

It sure seems that way.

The only way to end the madness is to shrink government! ALL GOVERNMENT.

They shouldn't be in 99% of the shit they're involved with because government IS an incubator of corruption and control... and we're paying for it! Grin Shocked (how stupid is that?)

Three years ago I worked at an Austin software firm and many of the engineers and sales reps were fans of Alex Jones. These were highly intelligent young men who were completely bamboozled by Jones and thought Ron Paul was the second coming. Their ideas were far from rational. Of course, not all people who support Ron Paul think that way. Many of Paul's ideas resonate and some are even very good, which is exactly the case with Stack's manifesto. He makes cogent points, which is disturbing and actions like his will get worse, as I wrote for the Guardian today, here:
