(CNN) -- The latest news as it comes in to CNN from the scene of the crash of a small plane in Austin, Texas. (All times are ET, one hour ahead of local Austin time.)

12:38 p.m. The pilot of the plane had set his house on fire beforehand, stole the plane and crashed it intentionally, a federal official told CNN.

12:18 p.m.: Witnesses described an infernal scene that shook nearby buildings and sent fire and smoke bellowing into the sky. "I just saw smoke and flames," said CNN iReporter Mike Ernest. "I could not believe what I was seeing. It was just smoke and flames everywhere."

12:11 p.m.: Harry Evans of the Austin Fire Department said firefighters found "heavy fire destruction in and around the second floor ... lots of heat, lots of smoke, lots of fire."

12:05 p.m.: Two people were transported from the crash site to University Medical Center Brackenridge, said hospital spokeswoman Matilda Sanchez. She could not provide additional information. University Medical Center Brackenridge is the only Level 1 trauma center for adults in Austin.

12:03 p.m.: Cynthia Reed, who works in the building next to the one hit, told CNN she saw people who apparently were trapped. "They were hanging out the windows, screaming for help," she said.

12:02 p.m.: "At this time we have no reason to believe there is a nexus to criminal or terrorist activity," said Matt Chandler, spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security. "We are in the process of coordinating with state officials and other federal partners to gather more information and at this time we will defer additional questions to local officials and the FAA."

11:44 a.m.: Firefighters used two ladder trucks and other equipment to hose down the blaze at the building, which police said was located in the 9400 block of Research Boulevard. Traffic on Southbound U.S. 183, which is adjacent to the crash site, started to snarl as black smoke poured out of the seven-story building.

I played MS flight simulator when I was in my teens and I know very very basic stuff but you just don't steal a plane unless you know how to fly it.

Pilot intentionally flew plane into building: report

A small plane crashed into a building near an FBI office in Austin, Texas and burst into flames in a massive explosion Thursday that forced people to flee out of the windows, witnesses and officials said.

There was "no known link to terrorism" the Department of Homeland Security said, noting that the cause of the crash was not yet known. AP is reporting that two people onboard the plane were killed.

CNN is reporting that officials believe the pilot intentionally flew the plane into the building.

Fox News reported that the plane's pilot's house had burned down overnight and that the building struck contained an Internal Revenue Service tax office.

Two people were taken to hospital and one person was unaccounted for but fire officials said the believed everyone else had been safely evacuated from the building.

"The building shook, it's almost like an earthquake," a witness named Cynthia who was in a neighboring building in the complex told CNN.

Cynthia and her office mates left the building and saw people running towards the building that got hit by the plane.

"People were on the second floor. They couldn't get out. They were hanging out the windows screaming for help."

Fire officials were battling to contain the blaze.

"What they're seeing is heavy fire around the second floor. They've got lots of smoke. Lots of heat. Lots of fire," assistant fire chief Harry Evans, assistant fire chief told reporters.

The guy did not steal the plane, he owned it.  He burned the house down last night and the child and mother spent the night in the hotel.

Evidently a radio station in Texas had an interview with the aunt of the child and she spent the night with the mother and child in the motel.  She said his car was at the hanger and that the plane was not there. She also stated that the description of the plane matched the description of his plane.

Seems like a disgruntled person who maybe had financial problems, possibly a foreclosure or maybe the IRS was going to seize the home for whatever reason.

Let's not jump to conclusions and read things into situation that may not necessarily be there.  You don't need to file a flight plan if it is a small plane and a general aviation airport. 

Look we have plenty of nutty people that are running around.  Not necessarily all things that happen are related to the government.  Also as a side note the FBI and CIA are not in that building, just the IRS.  Believe me they can piss you off enough that you want to choke them.  Doing something like this is clearly someone who is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Also, I don't see people jumping up and down now that Bernard Kerik has been sentenced to 4 years in prison for tax evasion. He was at 9/11.  Sometimes bad people do bad things, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the government is behind the sun rising and setting every single day.

Authorities say a small private plane has crashed into a seven-story office building in Austin, Texas.

Thick black and gray smoke was billowing out of the second and third stories of the building Thursday morning as fire crews using ladder trucks and hoses battled the fire.

Dozens of windows were blown out of the black building and smoke poured from it as vehicles traveling on a nearby highway paused to look at the damage.

The building is located on a major highway in the city.

Dawn Clopton, a division chief with the Austin Fire Department, says there is one person unaccounted for and 2 people have been taken to hospital.

There have also been several small explosions reported.

That building was evacuated and rescue crews are on the scene.

Officials say the crash may have been an intentional act by the pilot.

No other information was immediately available.

They also inteviewed a pilot expert who stated that it is not possible to have that much fire and smoke with such a small plane with a light fuel tank.
