Political Correctness & Those Behind It
Today we hear a lot of talk about Political Correctness or "PC"? But what is it? Political Correctness is "truth" as decided by liberal elitists. Actually it may not be "truth" at all. To those who subscribe to Political Correctness there is no such thing as "Concrete Truth." The radical left who are big supporters of Political Correctness believe truth is what appears to be right for the moment. These people actually believe "Truth" must be changed to fit the occasion. By that, I mean, it must agree with their political radical view.
Pro. 14:12 says, "There is a way which seemth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." This is why it is so important to be rooted and grounded in God's Word. The "Word of God" is the standard, which prevents this kind of lunacy. These Politically Correct liberal elitists have tremendous influences on our governments, courts and institutions. If the Bible is one way, chances are, they'll be the other way. I believe this is why we see so much foolishness, lack of common sense and hatred for Christian values. You may be thinking, where does this foolishness come from? Much of it is coming out of our major universities and from the main stream media. Both, have tremendous influence in shaping the thinking of others.
The following are some examples of Political Correctness: Example 1: The religion of Islam is a violent religion and there is much in the Koran that teaches hate and violence. But even after Sept. 11, we are not suppose to say that because Political Correctness wants all religion equal or superior to Christianity regardless, of how fraudulently, treacherous and untruthful it is. Example 2: We have just come through the Christmas Season and that's when a lot of Political Correctness shows up. A few years ago, you may have read that some school districts in Georgia instructed their teachers not to refer to "Christmas break" as "Christmas break" anymore. It sounded too Christian and therefore not Politically Correct. It was to be called "winter break." Example 3: Recently, The city council of Little Rock, Arkansas, voted to change the name of their Christmas parade--to the Politically Correct title "Holiday parade." Example 4: Here in Kentucky a few years ago, school bus drivers in Fayette County, were warned not to say Merry Christmas to any of the children. Presumably, they would say, "Happy holidays," "Merry solstice," "Hail to winter" or something of the sort, That would be Politically Correct.
The Political Correctness crowd is in the process of rewriting history. History does not agree with their agenda so it must be changed. Tim Wildmon, Vice President of American Family Association shared a good example. He was reading his daughter's fourth grade history book a few years ago and said, "we came to the section about the Mayflower Compact. The book spent three pages discussing this document without having the actual document itself included... I thought that curious, why not print the Mayflower Compact itself instead of spending so much time talking about what the Mayflower Compact said? ... It's actually very brief, maybe 200 words long... But, after reading, it was clear why it was excluded from my child's public school textbook. The word "God" is used four times in a positive context. Add that to the explicit phrase found in the middle of the Compact which states '...for the glory of God, and the advancement of the Christian faith...' as the primary reason for the pilgrims coming to this land, then I knew why it had been omitted." The Mayflower Compact was about true history but it was not Politically Correct, so it needed to be omitted.
Many of those who support Political Correctness have a deep hate for America and especially for America's Christian Heritage. Here are some examples: A University professor said, "President Bush wants to kill innocent people, colonize the Arab world, and capture oil for the Bush family." Or the University of Texas professor, Robert Jensen, who said the September 11 terrorist attack on America, "was no more despicable than the massive acts of terrorism... that the U.S. government has committed during my lifetime." Or the out pouring of sympathy from the left for John Walker, the 20-year-old California man who fought on the side of the Taliban. And how about Richard Berthold, University of New Mexico history professor, who told his class, "Anyone who can blow up the Pentagon has my vote." Then there were the schools and libraries that refused to fly the American flag because it might have offended someone who doesn't believe in God, country and patriotism, therefore not Politically Correct.
The Liberal Left and Political Correctness are mostly synonymous with each other. These are usually the people who support the killing of 40 million babies through abortion including the hideous partial-birth abortion. These are the people who support the radical homosexuals in their demand for "same-sex" marriages and adoption of children--even teaching homosexuality in public schools as normal and healthy. These are the people who want more "hate crimes laws" which are nothing more than clever disguises for anti-religious and anti-Christian bigotry. These are the people who support the ACLU who want to strip all public places of religious speech, the display of Nativity scenes, posting of the Ten Commandments, prayer in school and even the display of "God Bless America" signs. These are the people who support the filth on television, demanding that television producers have a Constitutional right to teach our children immorality, violence, and disregard for family values and the Judeo-Christian Heritage. Those who advocate Political Correctness are replacing truth, character, common sense, decency and godliness with situation ethic, you're Ok I'm Ok, lunacy, obscenity, and ungodliness.
The Bible speaks about a philosophy which "exchanges the truth of God for a lie." Perhaps, that would be a good definition for Political Correctness.
