Candidate A is a 10-term US Congressman from a large Southern state who is an advocate for a smaller government and individual liberty. This candidate believes in strictly following the Constitution and has never voted to raise taxes. He has never voted in favor of the war in Iraq or the Patriot Act, and wants to bring troops home as soon as possible. As a former doctor, this candidate has delivered more than 4,000 babies. One of this candidate's goals is to return America to the gold standard, and he believes that the current monetary policy needs to be drastically overhauled because of the dollar's decline.

Candidate B is a former governor from a Democratic state in the Northeast. Before that, he was credited for essentially saving the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He is a Mormon and family man who is considered a moderate-to-conservative member of the GOP. While Governor, he signed the first state laws in the nation requiring all citizens of this state to obtain health insurance. He is a strong supporter of keeping troops in Iraq although he has been critical of how the war has been handled.

Candidate C is a former two-term senator from a Southern state who was a long-time lobbyist before running for public office. He was chief Republican council for the Congressional committee that investigated Watergate in the early 1970s. He was an actor playing supporting roles in several major motion pictures before entering the Senate, and returned to a prominent role as a New York City prosecutor in a popular network television series after leaving office. He has mostly supported the war in Iraq, but has said he would have managed it differently.

Candidate D is a former two-term mayor of a major city in the Northeast, and is considered a moderate member of the party on social issues. As Mayor, he presided over a dramatic drop in crime in his city, and is best known for his leadership in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He established a worldwide security consulting business after leaving public office at the end of 2001 He has been a supporter of President Bush since leaving office and supports the war in Iraq.



32.8 per cent chose the description matching Ron Paul, while just 18.6 percent chose the description matching Rudy Giuliani. Just 12.6 per cent went for Fred Thompson's description while 15.1 per cent went for Mitt Romney.

The results clearly illustrate that the country is crying out for Ron Paul, which is why the establishment have launched a PR offensive to marginalize him in order to suppress the Congressman's name recognition.

The sample used for the poll had mainly never or rarely used websites popular with Ron Paul supporters, such as You Tube, MySpace and Facebook, showing that if Internet users who don't use land lines were more fairly represented, the numbers would be even more in favor of the Congressman.

In another poll question, the survey found that the majority of Americans are more likely to vote for a candidate who wants to begin an immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

Over 49% said they were more likely to vote for a candidate who would begin immediate withdrawal, compared to just under 41% who said they would vote for staying the course and around 10% who were not sure.

Zogby released the numbers to us this morning and have indicated that due to the level of interest in the poll, they will be issuing a press release tomorrow.

So what good are they?  The alliance of political-religious partnership is coming to its end.

Pat Roberson is losing his influence (as well as all political clergy/minister elites) according to what the Zogby poll showed.  How?

Paul was the undisputed champion with the major religions. Yet they (church leaders) do not support Paul.

Ron Paul actually is the only one that has any plan at all.

You can go to ronpaulibrary.com and look over his thousands of speeches and articles.  He has also written a best seller on this exact subject.  If you would like to read rather than rant you may find that this country and Ron Paul have a clear plan for bringing us out of depression and into serious surplus.

I KNEW from the getgo, that far more important than the results of this poll, was going to be what we learned about the polling process through this excersise.  THANK YOU ALEX for funding this, I think it was an excellent use of the war chest, although personally, the second they started to add questions I didn't want, I would have withdrawn the money and gone with another agency, but I guess finding out how slimy they are was even more important.

Zogby Poll: Giuliani Leads Among Republicans in Latest Blind Bio Survey

Survey pits resumes of former New York mayor against those of Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, and Fred Thompson

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, long the favorite in nationwide samples of likely Republican voters in the 2008 race for the party's presidential nomination, has the strongest resume of four top contenders, a new Zogby International survey shows.

The telephone survey, known as a “blind bio” poll because likely voters are given details of the candidates’ resumes without their names attached, shows Giuliani wins 34% support, compared to 22% each for Thompson and Romney. Ron Paul, who has surged recently in polls and has a significant online following, came in last with 13% support, while 9% said they were undecided on the question.

Only those four candidates were included in the question, which was commissioned by Jones Productions, a media company based in Austin, Texas. The survey included 389 likely Republican primary or caucus voters and was conducted Nov. 14–17, 2007. It carries a margin of error of +/– 5.1 percentage points.

The blind bio question was also posed to a larger pool of 1,009 likely voters nationwide, including Democrats and independents, and Paul was the big winner among that universe of voters, winning 33%, compared to 19% for Giuliani, 15% for Romney, and 13% for Thompson.

Zogby Spins Poll Results To Marginalize Ron Paul
Ignored Texas Congressman's domination of nearly every category to focus on single Giuliani success

In their press release about the results of a new telephone poll, Zogby chose to marginalize Ron Paul by highlighting a demographic that was won by Rudy Giuliani, while largely ignoring the fact that the Texas Congressman completely dominated almost every other aspect of the poll. Under the headline Giuliani Leads Among Republicans in Latest Blind Bio Survey, the Zogby press release reads, "Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, long the favorite in nationwide samples of likely Republican voters in the 2008 race for the party's presidential nomination, has the strongest resume of four top contenders, a new Zogby International survey shows."  "The telephone survey, known as a “blind bio” poll because likely voters are given details of the candidates’ resumes without their names attached, shows Giuliani wins 34% support, compared to 22% each for Thompson and Romney. Ron Paul, who has surged recently in polls and has a significant online following, came in last with 13% support, while 9% said they were undecided on the question." Only at the end of the article does the Zogby statement admit, "The blind bio question was also posed to a larger pool of 1,009 likely voters nationwide, including Democrats and independents, and Paul was the big winner among that universe of voters, winning 33%, compared to 19% for Giuliani, 15% for Romney, and 13% for Thompson." Zogby's focus on Giuliani's success in one demographic is completely misleading and obfuscates the fact that Ron Paul won 90% of the categories in the survey. The fact that the headline of the press release trumpeted Giuliani, who distantly lags behind the Congressman in nearly all the key demographics, is a clear case of total spin.

Ron Paul dominated categories where the sample was both traditionally Republican and Democrat voters. Voters were asked which platform they favored - candidates A and D were Ron Paul and Rudy Giuliani respectively, but they were not directly named.

Amongst born again Christians, Ron Paul polled at 29.6 per cent, with Giuliani garnering just 22.5 per cent.

Amongst people with military in their families, 33.3 per cent supported Paul's platform, with 18 per cent supporting Giuliani.

Amongst NASCAR fans, Ron Paul polled at 32.5 per cent, beating Giuliani's 28 per cent.

Amongst women, 34.7 per cent favored Paul's platform over Giuliani's 17 per cent.

Amongst African-Americans, Paul trounced Giuliani, 40.5 per cent to Giuliani's 9.1 per cent.

Ron Paul's sweep in all these categories and many more was clearly the biggest story to come out of this poll, yet Zogby chose to highlight Giuliani's rare success.

There is no doubt that Giuliani beats Paul on name recognition alone, but the fact that the Congressman is surging ahead and gaining momentum, while capturing the sentiment of the nation, was the biggest story to come out of this poll - but Zogby chose to stifle it - proving once again that the self-fulfilling media obsession with relentlessly focusing on establishment approved candidates while marginalizing others only upholds the status quo and hurts the democratic process.

Woohoo. I'm glad  Alex sponsored a survey. It's important for Ron Paul's supporters to know thewhat the true extent of his support could be, unhindered by bogus polling questions.

It definately shows he has the best margin to win out of any of any republican candidate.

I understand "Tomsliks" concerns I do however think that he as well as many others are missing the point here...as for me I don't care if Ron Paul is the biggest lame duck in U.S history just as long as he holds to his principals. Dr. Paul is not the man that is going to fix it all...He is rather the mold, the standard by which the American people will hold for those they elect in the future. The fact that we could elect "OUR" President is huge!!! If the Bankers can do it we sure as hell can...The millions that will join the process, read Constitution for the first time and cherish once again that which was nearly lost...are the point.

I have an unlimited faith in what the message of Liberty can do...As I see it now it is time that is the real enemy...Dr. Paul has made it clear that he wont run as anything but the Republican Party's nominee...It occurred to me when I saw Michael Moore talking to "WE ARE CHANGE" and Ron Paul was brought up, and Mr. Moore dismissed him because he "Had the wrong letter in front of his name" (R). I realized the real obstacle would be undoing all the damage the Bush legacy has done to the party. I think we should really double our efforts to see to it that he does get the nomination but also now is the time to decide what the next step will be? Liberty is a wild fire that cannot be contained but educating an electorate may take more time than can be pigeon holed into the Primary Process. I do believe that we should begin to identify who the other leaders are amongst us. Who will be a running mate?  What about cabinet posts? Is it too early to start talking about a "Write in" campaign? I don't have the answers but I would love to hear some ideas.

Zogby has seriously dissed Dr. Paul and as I see it if they are cheating him they are cheating all the rest of us. That is the target I was aiming for.  Yes, a vote for Ron Paul is the step in the correct direction; but I am sorry to say "one" president cannot fix all the problems.  After a careful reading of the Federalist Papers; I have come to the conclusion, that our problems can be corrected on a local level.  Congress and the Senate make the laws in this system.  That is where the focus of "constitutionalists" needs to be directed.  A concerted effort between the Executive and Legislative branch would be a fertilized garden for the fruits of freedom.

Extrapolating data from a relatively small demographic of ‘very conservative voters’, Giuliani wins with 34% support, compared to 22% each for Thompson and Romney. Ron Paul, who has surged recently in polls and has a significant online following, came in last with 13% support, while 9% said they were undecided on the question, reported Zogby International.

Jones Productions, the sponsor of the survey, concludes that Zogby has spun the results of the poll conducted on November 14, 2007. Paul was the big winner with 32.8% in the general poll, but he did not win amongst this one subset of 389 respondents deeming themselves ‘very conservative’ out of 1009 total likely Republican primary voters polled. Zogby latched onto that one subset and announced that Giuliani won the poll even though Ron Paul won 90% of the categories in the survey.

At the end of the press release though, the real headline and winner is announced:

“The blind bio question was also posed to a larger pool of 1,009 likely voters nationwide, including Democrats and independents, and Paul was the big winner among that universe of voters, winning 33%, compared to 19% for Giuliani, 15% for Romney, and 13% for Thompson.”

The poll data reflects that across the board, Ron Paul can beat Hillary Clinton, a feat that no other Republican contender can claim. He is overwhelmingly supported by 46% of Democrats when the vote is split, and 38% of moderates, both double digit leads. This goes to prove that Ron Paul is a uniter and not a divider as he garners support from all camps. Giuliani beats Paul on name recognition only, but Paul is surging ahead and gaining major momentum and this was the headline story of this poll. But Zogby chose to slant it Giuliani’s way and along with the majority of the MSM, continues its focus on establishment-approved candidates thus undermining the democratic process.

When I read that Zogby poll press release -Smoke blows out my ears. You have to read 2/3 down the page to get the real truth and the f**king nerve of them to spin the poll based on a small subset just.......Aaaaarrghghghghg!
