Beyond hope?

First of all.

Merry Christmas.

So, over this Christmas break, family and friends have been visiting aplenty, meaning I had to resist the urge to preach and talk about, you know what.

I try to slip little information into conversations, like the recent "terror threat" on the American airline, but other than that I try to keep quiet unless asked.

Eventually, someone got onto the subject of censorship, which got me started on the Digital Economy Bill, which lead to everything else.

Now I wasn't trying to convince anyone of anything, I was simply trying to make my friends and family think. I wanted them to go away, take what I had to say into account, whether or not they believed me entirely is up for debate, but I do know that most people were very interested, and have gone away with what I hope will lead to some research of their own.

Not everyone was this open to talks however. That was one guy there, who constantly disagreed with me, with his only argument being ignorance. I didn't argue with the guy, I just explained that I could run upstairs and gather plenty of information to prove my point.

In the end, I guess you could say I "won", but this brings me onto my question. This guy, after I had answered everything he was asking, simply responded by saying: "Its not my problem, when it all happens, ill be long gone."

I honestly didn't know what to say, I was stunned. When I first heard about all of this, and even when I explain to newcomers, everyone goes away with something to think about. Whether you disagree or not, the information tends to resonate, and lead to individual thought and research. I was shocked to see someone dismiss me completely.

So I guess what im asking is, how do you help someone, who doesn't want to help themselves?

You can`t. Move on to someone more receptive . . . you wont get everyone to take you seriously, but nice try huh!

It's a good way to judge your peers. You'll have to excuse me if it sounds a little morbid but it's a good way to spot which ones will be a liability to your survival when TSHTF

Yep - good to have a network set up before TSHTF

Trying to set up a UK web of like minded ppl - (but not found the best platform for it (and a way to keep ppl connected when TSdoesHTF!)

Its a hard lesson, but you will never be able to help someone without taking away
 their chance to help themselves. You can't wake them up if they don't want to.

All you need to do is be calm, convincing, support your statements
with evidence, and let them come to their own conclusions.

No one can be told what the Matrix is, you have to see it for yourself.
