I never liked Pinocchio as a child.  Never liked the Wizard of Oz, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter etc. The only Sci Fi I could stomach was that of one of the most ingeneous (non-manipulative) sci fi creators of all time: Rod Serling.  He "presented for your consideration", he did not manipulate your lower senses.

I'm a "To Kill A Mockingbird" type of fan.  I like straightforward no magic stories about ordinary people struggling to be human.  I like stories that bring the everyday irony and complexity of being alive into focus.  I like untidy endings that don't falsely resolve, but rather mirror life's unpredictable, perfect whimsy.

I can sense hidden "teaching" a mile a way, and just don't want it.  

You know this is just a fantasy escapist pseudo-moral "Dances with Wolves" remake-adaptation movie that doesn't even have the "counter prime directive" gravitas of the Outer Limits "The Architects of Fear" (Project Bluebeam foretold), but if I were you I'd save my rhetoric for any possibly shallower neo-remake of "Inherit the Wind"...
