Did top Pentagon official create imaginary LLC to pad resume?

Firm Pentagon claimed aide 'served with' doesnt exist, Florida Dept. of State tells Raw Story

A young presidential administration besieged with vetting issues may have a new one to deal with, a Raw Story investigation has found.

Michele S. Jones, Secretary Robert Gates’ special assistant and the Pentagon's White House liason, was revealed Monday to have exchanged emails with White House gatecrashers Tareq and Michaele Salahi. Entertainment lawyer Paul W. Gardner has claimed that both parties are clients.

The Defense Department announced in July 2009 Jones’ appointment to her current post, claiming that she “previously served with The Bones Theory Group, LLC, Jacksonville, Fla.”

But the Florida Department of State, where all state LLCs are required to register, told Raw Story they have no listing for a "Bones Theory Group."
Story continues below...

"No sir, we have no record of it," a spokeswoman for Florida's State Department said of the supposed organization, after Raw Story carefully spelled out its name as written in the DOD's press release. "A Florida LLC, no sir," she said.

The website Spirit of Democracy described Jones in an article as “President and CEO of ‘The Bones Theory Group.’” The website, when contacted, could not confirm where they got the fact.

Among the other public records databases that have no listing for “Bones Theory Group” (or variations of the name) are the Florida Business Directory, StateOfFlorida.com and ResourceLinks.net.

Jones could not be reached for comment.

When asked by Raw Story for more information about the "Bones Theory Group" from its July press release, a spokesman for the Department of Defense didn't have an answer, but explained the vetting process for DOD applicants.

"Two things need to happen," he told Raw Story. "One, you get an appointment that has to be approved either by the Secretary or by the White House. They go through a second level of scrutiny through a lady by the name of Bernadette Cruz to confirm if an individual has worked at a specific organization or if the organization even exists."

He offered no further information, and a different spokesperson said minutes later she didn't know of any "Bernadette Cruz" affiliated with the Pentagon. Several subsequent attempts to contact the DOD resulted in the representatives hanging up when Raw Story brought up the press release and the "Bones Theory Group."

It is unclear who was responsible for the error, but at the very least, the DOD's vetting process seems to have gone awry. The Washington Post wrote in January 2009 about the procedure:

Clearing lower-level appointees is more difficult, especially when they are recommended to the White House by members of Congress or well-connected Washington advisers. Vetters are under intense pressure to satisfy these constituents -- after all, questioning a reference from a leading member of Congress is not without political risk.

Jones does, however, have strong qualifications for her present post whether or not she previously ran a LLC. She was the first woman to have held several honorable positions in the Army -- Command Sergeant Major, class president at the United States Sergeants Major Academy and division Command Sergeant Major.

Although there is no such Florida LLC known as the "Bones Theory Group," the name does appear to have its roots. Jones dropped a clue in April 2006 during a speech at the George C. Marshall Awards Seminar as to how the title came about. A report on the event said:

Soldiers are entitled to the best leadership possible, said Command Sgt. Maj. Michele Jones, command sergeant major of the Army Reserve. She said she follows the Bones Theory, which entails having a backbone (courage), a wishbone (a belief that things will get better), a funny bone (laughter) and a tailbone (“You can’t be the best if you don’t get off your tailbone and make things better.”).

Days after the 2006 seminar, a blogger named Melissa Wood wrote about what seems to be the same speech:

This past week we attended an orientation for the course. One of the speakers, CSM Jones, shared her “Bones” theory for getting through the course. It seems to me to be good ideas for life in general, so I’ll share it here:

Back bone – have the courage to do what’s right
Funny bone – find ways to laugh, keep your sense of humor
Wish bone – believe in the future, hope, dream
Tail bone – get up and make a difference

“CSM Jones” is an apparent reference to "Command Sergeant Major Jones."

Although the LLC does not appear to be real, Jones is listed as a recipient of two government contracts from the Defense Department – one in 2007 and one in 2008, totaling $9000 – to a location in Jacksonville, Florida.

Another listing to the same address is a sole proprietor organization with Jones’ full name, "Michele S. Jones."

Michele S Jones is a private company categorized under Training and Development Consultant and located in Jacksonville, FL. Current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of $80,000 and employs a staff of approximately 1.

The same source also categorizes the enterprise as “Management Consulting Services, Human Resources and Executive Search Consulting Services." However, since the small business listings site's profile was never claimed by Jones, the information appears to have been self-generated and where the $80,000 figure was derived at remains unknown.

Aside from the $9,000 payouts, Raw Story was unable to establish whether Jones held another job since retiring in 2007 -- this indicates one possible reason why the DOD said she served with a company that doesn't exist.

The Salahis have denied gatecrashing the White House state dinner with the Indian Prime Minister, insisting Tuesday on NBC's Today Show it was "clear" that they "were invited." Their stance directly contradicted Jones' statement Monday, issued via the White House.

"I did not state at any time, or imply that I had tickets for ANY portion of the evening's events," Jones said. "I specifically stated that [the Salahis] did not have tickets and in fact that I did not have the authority to authorize attendance, admittance or access to any part of the evening's activities. Even though I informed them of this, they still decided to come."

Four years ago, in the midst of widespread criticism regarding the federal response to Hurricane Katrina, it was revealed that Bush's FEMA czar had padded his resume. Days after a Time investigation "found discrepancies in his online legal profile and official bio," Michael D. Brown resigned.

Tareq Salahi Says He and Wife Didn’t Crash Dinner (Update2)
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601070&sid=aZw5xRuzeqoY
By Jeff Bliss and Roger Runningen

Dec. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Tareq Salahi, who with his wife is accused of attending last week’s White House state dinner without an invitation, said today he didn’t “party-crash.”

“This has been the most devastating thing that’s ever happened to us,” Salahi said on NBC’s “Today” program. “We’re greatly saddened by” the media reports “portraying my wife and I as party crashers. I can tell you we did not party- crash the White House.”

Salahi was interviewed together with his wife, Michaele, who said, “Our lives have been destroyed.”

The Salahis attended the Nov. 24 event, which honored Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, although they weren’t on the official guest list. Their attendance has spurred a Secret Service investigation into how they slipped past security amid concern over the president’s safety.

The couple exchanged e-mails with a Defense Department official, an acquaintance of the couple’s lawyer, before the dinner about getting tickets to the event, the Washington Post reported yesterday, citing unidentified sources familiar with the Secret Service investigation.

Michele Jones, special assistant to the secretary of defense, said she told the couple in the e-mails that she didn’t have tickets to offer them for the event and couldn’t grant them access.

“I did not state at any time, or imply, that I had tickets for ANY portion of the evening’s events,” Jones said in a statement released by the White House last night.

‘Decided to Come’

The Post, citing the anonymous sources, said the e-mails encouraged the Salahis, who live in a Virginia suburb of Washington, to come to the White House on the night of the dinner. In her statement, Jones denied making that suggestion.

“I specifically stated that they did not have tickets and in fact that I did not have the authority to authorize attendance, admittance or access to any part of the evening’s activities,” she said. “Even though I informed them of this, they still decided to come.”

Salahi said he would disclose “in the next several days” e-mails that would make clear they were invited.

“I am certain we’re going to be completely exonerated,” he said.

Charges Considered

Authorities are considering criminal charges against the couple, said White House spokesman Robert Gibbs, appearing on the “Today” show this morning.

This isn’t the first time the Salahis’ attendance at an event has been questioned.

The couple was escorted by security from an annual Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Inc. fund-raising dinner on Sept. 26, said Muriel Cooper, a spokeswoman for the Washington-based non-profit group.

“They did not have tickets for the table where they were sitting,” she said.

The Salahis were seated at a “gold” table, which cost $20,000 for the 10 seats, Cooper said.

The group is investigating whether the Salahis were supposed to be seated at another table, she said.

“Right now, we cannot find anything that says they were guests,” she said.

The Salahis on the “Today” show said they were invited to the Sept. 26 dinner and weren’t removed by security.

“It’s another gossip, rumor” that’s not true, Tareq Salahi said.

Congressional Hearing

The Salahis received an invitation yesterday from the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee to testify at a Dec. 3 hearing about how they slipped past White House security.

The House panel also asked Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan to testify, according to a press release from the committee. Malcolm Wiley, a Secret Service spokesman, said that Sullivan would testify if asked.

White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers also has been invited to testify, said Dena Graziano, spokeswoman for Representative Bennie Thompson, the Mississippi Democrat who chairs the committee.

Sullivan on Nov. 27 said the security breach “deeply concerned and embarrassed” the agency. Agents failed to follow procedures that should have prevented the man and woman from crashing the event, he said.

‘Time for Answers’

Thompson, in a statement, said, “This is a time for answers, recognition of security deficiencies past and present, and remedies to ensure the strength of the Secret Service and the safety of those under its protection.”

Graziano said the hearing will focus on other security breaches, such as concerns expressed by top campaign donors to President Barack Obama about potential lapses during his inauguration on Jan. 20.

The panel “is not going to look at this one isolated incident,” she said, referring to the state dinner.

Gibbs told “Today” the Salahis knew they weren’t invited to the state dinner.

“This wasn’t a misunderstanding,” he said. “You don’t show up at the White House as a misunderstanding.”

Michaele Salahi is being considered for a role in “The Real Housewives of D.C.,” a reality TV show on Bravo, said Cameron Blanchard, an NBC spokeswoman. Bravo and NBC are owned by General Electric Co.

“The Salahis informed Half Yard,” producers of the series, “that they were invited as guests to the state dinner,” Blanchard said. The production company was “filming the Salahis’ preparation for the event.”

‘False Allegations’

A statement from the couple’s publicity agent denied reports that the Salahis were trying to sell an interview about their experience to the highest bidder.

“We refute these false allegations,” said Mahogany Jones, the press agent. “The Salahis are not ‘shopping’ any interviews or demanding money from any media networks to tell their story.”

A photo released by the White House on Nov. 27 showed Obama shaking hands with Michaele Salahi in the receiving line with her husband and Singh on either side.

Michaele Salahi posted photos on her Facebook page of the couple posing at the event with Vice President Joe Biden and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, as well as other guests.

It was the first state dinner of Obama’s presidency, and more than 300 people were invited.

The couple’s attorney in Baltimore, Paul Gardner, has said they were approved to enter the White House. Gardner didn’t return phone calls yesterday seeking comment.

Homeland Security Or Homeland Enslavement?
http://www.infowars.com/homeland-security-or-homeland-enslavement/
Chuck Baldwin
December 2, 2009

By now, most readers are familiar with the story of how a Virginia couple, Michaele and Tareq Salahi, crashed the White House State Dinner last Tuesday evening. President and Mrs. Obama were entertaining Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the first official State Dinner of the new administration. The Salahis were not on the invited guest list, but were still allowed to walk right into the White House. They even had face-to-face conversations with both President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. Photographs of the Salahis with the President and Vice President have been published in numerous newspapers and on hundreds of web sites.

I wonder if the American people are thinking this episode through? Think of it: in the post-9/11 world, a world that has invented the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), body scanners, retina readers, the Patriot Act, hundreds of laws and regulations restricting the freedoms and liberties of the American people, thousands of cameras photographing our public movements, and satellite spy devices, a couple can walk right into the White House and meet the President and Vice President without being invited!

Is there something wrong with this picture, or what?

I well remember what I had to go through when I was an invited guest of then-Vice President George H. W. Bush at the White House. My wife and I joined several others for a luncheon with Vice President Bush and his wife, Barbara. Later that day, we were in a crowd of several hundred who got to meet President Ronald Reagan. Needless to say, security was tight.

Upon arriving, we had to show the proper credentials to White House security, along with a photo ID and the personal invitation that had been sent to us ahead of time. I remember how some of the folks who had actually received invitations were denied entrance due to bureaucratic mix-ups or unintentional lapses in proper protocols. And these were people who really did have an invitation to be there. I can tell you this: there was absolutely no way that an uninvited person could have gained access to the White House that day. And remember: that was nearly two decades BEFORE 9/11!

That an uninvited couple could be granted access to the President and Vice President in this day and time is more than a “fluke.” It betrays something much deeper.

For the last 8 years, the American people have been told they must sacrifice certain liberties in order that the federal government might protect them. And for the most part, the American people have been happy to accommodate this incessant intrusion into their personal liberties. They know the feds are monitoring their emails, personal phone conversations, and even their personal letters when received from overseas. They have sat silently as their banking institutions have monitored and reported virtually any and all financial transactions to the federal government. In today’s super-security world, one cannot even cash a check without showing the bank teller his or her driver’s license, which is recorded and made available to the feds. Sometimes, we are even required to provide our thumbprints. Beyond that, even certain service personnel that must come into our homes to provide in-home repair services, home inspections, or general services are often required to report what they see to various law enforcement authorities. All of this is done in the name of “national security.”

All the while, America’s federal buildings today more resemble castles of ancient Europe than they do buildings that house the people’s servants. Concrete barriers along with super-reinforced, “bomb proof” structures remind one of castles of old, with their guard towers and crocodile-filled moats. Today, people must walk through metal-detectors and surrender their pocketknives to even visit their local supervisor of elections office (or just about any other public office, for that matter). Again, this is all done under the rubric of “homeland security.”

In the name of “national security,” veterans who have been accused of some kind of domestic disturbance or who have affirmatively answered an ambiguous question on a VA form regarding whether they have feelings of “anger” or “depression” are having their right to keep and bear arms stripped away. That’s right, in the name of “homeland security,” some of the very men who were entrusted with lethal weapons to fight America’s wars are now being told they are not fit to purchase or possess their own firearms.

Yet, in spite of all of the above, an uninvited couple is allowed to calmly walk right past Secret Service personnel and have personal audiences with the President and Vice President of the United States in what is ostensibly the most heavily-guarded, tightly secured building in the country: the White House.

Furthermore, this story comes on the heels of the mass shooting on what one would think would be a rather secure location: the US Army base at Fort Hood, Texas. And, have we forgotten the fellow who brought a gun into the Capitol Building (the home of the US Congress) in Washington, D.C., a few years ago and killed two police officers?

Dear Reader, ask yourself this question, Do you really think those schmucks in Washington, D.C., actually believe that protecting you and me is more important than protecting American soldiers, US congressmen, and especially the President of the United States? “Are you serious?” (To quote Nancy Pelosi.) The truth is, to the elites in DC, you and I are expendable commodities. In fact, to some of the soulless creatures running things, you and I are worth more dead than alive (but that’s a topic better discussed at a later date).

The point is, all this talk about “national security” is simply a ruse for Big Government elitists to steal our liberties and make slaves out of us. They don’t care about security; all they care about is POWER.

So, the next time you are required to be strip-searched by an airport screener, or to surrender your pocketknife at your local county commissioner’s office, or to show your driver’s license to your bank teller, or to submit to a random police checkpoint; the next time you make a phone call that you know is monitored by a federal agent (and they all are), or drive under a video camera, or visit these castle-esque federal buildings, remember Michaele and Tareq Salahi. And, if you are old enough, remember the time in America when we really were the “land of the free.” And also remember that it’s not security they seek–it’s the abolition of our liberty.

--------------

comment:

The first thing I thought of when I heard this story was, “Oh my God. They are going to kill him.” Someone is sending Obama a message, and the message is this: “We can get to you anytime, anywhere. You are not safe anywhere, not even at the White House.” Now the information comes out that the Salahis were invited by someone at the Pentagon. This looks like it’s all prelude to another assassination. An assassination would lead race riots and civil unrest that would justify martial law. They could also frame some evidence to make it look like the Iranians were behind it to justify invading another country. We’ll see how this pans out.

Sane, was there not a book recently published and talked about regarding the holes in the Secret Service now that they are under the Dept. of Homeland Security, and the author of said book was being interviewed.  I remember we were talking about that here.  No one can scroll through all your posts to find it.  The search function is disabled.  Can you find that page?  I think this relates in the upcoming false flag, regarding secret service.

White House dinner crasher on Va. tourism board
http://www.wtop.com/?nid=25&sid=1824875
November 28, 2009 - 1:22pm

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - One-half of a celebrity-seeking couple that hobnobbed uninvited at a White House state dinner is a member of a board that shapes Virginia's tourism policy.

Tareq Salahi is listed as one of 15 board members of the Virginia Tourism Corp., according to the agency's Web site. He is listed as chairman of Virginia Wine, Travel and Tourism.

Salahi is now embroiled in a bankruptcy court fight with his mother for control over Oasis Winery in Fauquier (faw-KEER') County.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Saturday that board members to the tourism panel are appointed by the governor.

Other board members include state officials, business leaders and tourism representatives.

Kaine Could Have Guessed It Was Tareq Salahi
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34229987/ns/local_news-washington_dc
By Julie Carey

Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine called accused White House party crasher Tareq Salahi one of the state's best self-promoters Tuesday.

It's a skill that got Salahi appointed to the Virginia Tourism Corporation, but unabashed self-promoting also seems to have made Salahi and wife Michaele the focus of a Secret Service investigation. Kaine said he's not entirely surprised the flamboyant Salahi is at the center of the controversy.

"If somebody had said to me, 'Hey, some Virginians tried to crash a party and there are 7-and-a-half million Virginians, who do you think it might be?' I think I might have been able to guess it within five seconds," Kaine said.

Why?

"Because he's such a promoter," Kaine said.

Salahi first got the attention of Kaine's predecessors, the governor said. He was appointed to the Virginia Wine Board by Gov. Jim Gilmore and Gov. Mark Warner. Kaine then elevated Salahi to the Virginia Tourism Corporation, a panel that helps shape tourism policy.

Salahi was part of a state delegation that traveled to England three years ago to prepare for Jamestown's 400th anniversary celebration.

Kaine said he last saw the Salahis at the Congressional Black Caucus dinner in September, which the couple also is accused of crashing.
