This article covers the unnecessary removal of the spleen, appendix, and tonsils, the effects that it has on the body, and the alternatives. I have no doubt that it will be useful to some here, so I thought I'd post it. Feel free to post constructive criticisms. Thanks!

According to the World Health Organization, the United States is ranked 38th in life expectancy, indicating that its standard medical practices are inferior to Cuba’s, South Korea’s, Costa Rica’s, Guadeloupe’s, Singapore’s, and 31 other nations.  The U.S. system of medicine is only slightly superior to the Czech Republic’s, and Slovenia’s, despite the U.S. spending approximately 16% of its total expenditures every year for health related expenses.  Standard medicine in the U.S. is the world’s most expensive, and yet it is among the least safe.

Wow!  This is a great article - thank you for posting.

I have wondered for years what effects the removal of the appendix might have.  I had mine removed at the age of 8, and my tonsils removed at 29 - that was a nightmare.  I now have several health 'niggles' and have often wondered if it were related to the surgeries - or lack of those body parts.  Have never been able to find that info, so this really was useful for me - thank you!
