Only means that more "privacy concerned" types will learn circuit theory and design and learn ways to hack even that. You could even stop it at the NIC or the router, if you know what to look for as far as traffic. Of course, with MOBO's becoming more and more integrated with peripherals it will become more difficult to do.

Can't a brother just get his game on without having the alphabet soup servants of the elites peeking into my private porn stash?

This sort of thing is a big peek into the mindset of the elites and their tools servants. Project much? "So worried people will figure out who we are and what we are about, we better snoop them first and see what they know!"

I'd like to know an awful more . . .

One thing that worries me is that in public there gonna say summat like just block port X, or you can turn it off in the BIOS, and people will move onto other things.

Without wishing to sound paranoid, I'd have real concerns that some other backdoor was available to the NSA.

It is why people research, to figure it out.

Damned NSA have fingers in all kinds of pies - they are surely in bed with microsoft, and most likely all the other major computing powers. not really any point trying to escape them electronically, we will always be one or two steps behind them !
Better to fall back on other means of communications if you dont want them to know about it !

I agree its worth a shot - but they are more or less able to do what they like, and they have the capabilities to break much of the encryption out there (most likely they are in bed with the code writers also).
I just think there are better ways to communicate , and better ways to secure things that need securing. Internet = more or less certainty that your privacy will be breached.

It costs them effort, there is no excuse for not making it harder for them...
They can not decrypt everything, they need a supercomputer to decrypt code.

The more people that start taking some basic steps towards security, the harder you make them work. think about just the sheer volume of communications, they currently intercept.

Also consider if they do go to the trouble to decrypting something only to find out its something boring like a cooking recipie, or a copy of the constitution or magna carta  . . . What happens next time when a request is made for an expensive time slot on one of there supercomputers ?

How many humans can they employ to actually read these e-mails or listen in to telephone conversations. Do you know that most CCTV cameras have nobody watching at the other end ?

Workaround:

Hmm... Wouldn't just installing a PCI NIC completely bypass this system?

[Yes. Bypassing the integrated communications system would prevent external access to the machine. -Editor]

I recommend a non-Intel network card, preferably something obscure, and/or a very old card and/or with older firmware.

Honestly, I think you can make it more difficult for Big Brother to spy on you, but no matter what you do, they'll still be able to access your system if they really want to.

We're talking about agencies like the freakin' NSA here.  They have access to tech we can't even dream of.

Regardless of what they may or may not be capable of, it's always a good idea to lock your door and set your alarm system...

This is the bottom line. I'm not that tech savvy at all but I can tell by taking a computer motherboard out and looking at it that anyone who can design something like that is capable of doing just about anything without me even knowing it.

This is the danger of technology and it's only going to get worse. Pandora's box. Frankly, the more I think about it the more I think the internet was designed from the ground up to be Big Brother. Obviously, even if it were true, they'd all deny it like they do everything else.

YES, now let's all start using GnuPG (+ WinPT for WinBlow$ users)!  It's the tool of the century to protect yourself against big brother!
