The current podcast should always be available on the main podcast page @: http://xml.nfowars.net/Alex.rss  If it's not there for that day, no podcast is available yet.

If there's a previous podcast you'd like, you should be able to find it on the LimeLight archive.  It's not too difficult to do.  For example, today's URL is:

http://freespeech.vo.llnwd.net/o25/pub/rss/20080427_Sun_Alex.mp3

Just replace 20080427_Sun with the year, month, and date of the podcast you want (knowing the 3 letter code for the day of the week is required).

So:

http://freespeech.vo.llnwd.net/o25/pub/rss/20080425_Fri_Alex.mp3
http://freespeech.vo.llnwd.net/o25/pub/rss/20080424_Thu_Alex.mp3
http://freespeech.vo.llnwd.net/o25/pub/rss/20080325_Tue_Alex.mp3

all work.  This archive doesn't go back TOO far mind you, but it is nice to get the podcasts quickly from this server, without using bandwidth from other people who might not have it to spare.

Forgive my techno-ignorance 'warrior', but I'm listening to podcasts ALMOST daily, occasionally missing a download.

The website you cite is?...only to listen to previous shows...or for download? If for download,
where do I download it to?...someplace in the iTunes program?....into the iPod program?.. or...?  Sorry, but I'm kinda 'old' and not too tech savvy. Any help is appreciated

If you're listening to the podcasts and your computer is set up to get them, you shouldn't have to do anything more.  A podcast is just an .mp3 file that your computer is set up to download automatically.  You shouldn't have to do any of what I mention if your podcasts are downloading, all of them with no problem.  If you are missing specific podcasts, the way to download them is given above.  But I'll elaborate a bit more for you.  What I mention here bypasses the need for an automatic download of the show via a podcast downloading program.

There's no specific website you need to go to in order to get a missing podcast.  The way I'm talking about as far as getting an older podcast is just using the LimeLight archive.  If you type in http://www.llnwd.net to your browser, you'll be redirected to http://www.limelightnetworks.com  Smiley  That's just showing you who hosts these files that Alex puts up each day.  But how you get a missing podcast really depends on how your system is set up.  The way that will work for most people is easy.  Go to your web browser and in the address bar, enter:

http://freespeech.vo.llnwd.net/o25/pub/rss/   (DO NOT PRESS ENTER YET)!

With that on the line, you need to choose what goes next, depending on the date of the podcast you want.  For example, yesterday's show was on Friday, May 09, 2008.  The format used to finish the line in the address bar is yyyymmdd_nod_Alex.mp3

So getting yesterday's .mp3 file would be:

http://freespeech.vo.llnwd.net/o25/pub/rss/20080509_Fri_Alex.mp3   (2008 is the year, 05 is the month, 09 is the day - which is always 2 digits, and Fri is the name of the day)

The days of the week are as such:

Mon - Monday
Tue - Tuesday
Wed - Wednesday
Thu - Thursday
Fri - Friday
Sun - Sunday

Just plug and chug!  Smiley  Once you press enter after the line is complete, the .mp3 file SHOULD start downloading automatically.  What happens then really depends on your computer's set up.  For most people with a plug-in, the .mp3 will start to play.  No problem.  Just go up to File and select Save As (or the equivalent of Save As for your browser) and choose to save the .mp3 file.  Done.  Some people may not have the ability to do that, or their browser won't know what to do with an .mp3.  that's kind of rare, but if it happens, the browser should ask you what you want to do with the file.  Then you can just choose to save the file to your drive.  Same result in the end.

I have an external hard drive that I use to archive all the old .mp3 files.  I honestly just let iTunes download my podcast, then I go to the folder where the file is, rename it to my liking, and save the file to my external drive.  I have a folder on my drive, The Alex Jones Show, and inside of it are currently 2 folders, 2007 and 2008.  I group all the files based on year.  But you might not need to do all that stuff.  Just save them to your desktop if you want it simple, or My Documents if you use Windows, and there you go.  If you find yourself downloading manually like this often however, you might find that your desktop gets cluttered quite easily, so a more organized way of storing old broadcasts might be in order.  That's for you to decide.

Actually, you should ONLY need to do any of this if for some reason your computer missed a podcast or two, internet being down or you didn't get it before the next day's podcast was put up.  Whatever the reason, the archive is there for you to use.  All you are doing when you enter this into your browser is to download the .mp3 file for that day that your ipod program does automatically.

Does anyone listen to the show on a crystal shortwave receiver?  I ask, since crystal units don't need sunlight to operate, making it possible to pick up the PM broadcast of the show on WWCR.  Crystal radio units also don't need a power switch, batteries, or any kind of real upkeep (except to make sure they aren't going to get hit by lightning during a storm!)

I guess I'm just interested in being as prepared, and independent, as possible.  I'd like to know if anyone else has built one of these devices.  If so, can you pick up the AJ show where you are using a sensitive antenna?

What I can't figure out is why in the world isn't he on XM or SIRIUS? Rolleye James and Coast to Coast are there so I don't think it's a problem with the subject matter. He needs to get a good list of affiliates and estimated number of listeners and present that to XM. It's all about money with XM and SIRIUS so if he can make the point that their subscriber base will increase they should be interested.
XM just brought back Randy Rhodes and her useless babble so I don't see why Alex would be turned away.
I really want him on XM. I know so many truck drivers that listen to XM and would tune in to Alex if they didn't have to mess with podcasts etc.
Alex isn't greedy so I'm sure he could strike a good deal with them. Nothing outrageous like Howard Stern getting $500,000,000.00 for a 5 yr contract on SIRIUS. 5yrs to continue turning minds to mush, what a waste.

That's what I do when driving using an ATT card for laptops. The 16k feed is good when out in the country but the 32k feed is great around major cities where ATT has the 3g network installed.

GlobalStar Communications:

12:00-3:00PM Live, 4:00-7:00AM Rebroadcast - internet feed - http://www.gsradio.net/asx/star5.asx

Also carried on star5: Jeff Rense, and bits and pieces of other stuff. Full schedule: http://www.gsradio.net/help/m-f-star-5.htm

Star5 is carried on Galaxy 25 (Intelsat Americas 5) 11836Mhz (ch5) Vertical polar.
Receiving this could be as simple as attaching an old prime star dish (plug that says "V") to a
TWINHAN DVB-S VISIONPLUS 1020A FTA SATELLITE CARD which costs about $50 on ebay and plugs into a standard computer pci port. If using an old prime star dish, you will have to make sure the card doesn't switch between 14v and 18v to switch polarity. Prime star was from before the days when polarity is switched by changing voltage to the LNB, it should always be 18v. if in doubt, test with a meter (with the dish unplugged. If 14v then tell software to change polarity.

My understanding is that with the satellite card tuned to transponder 5, you can record all TV and radio on transponder 5. this includes:

Scriptures For America Network Feed
World Wide First Amendment Radio Network Feed
Overcomer Ministry Network Feed (24 Hour feed)
Global Star Channel 2 - Right Audio (Star 4)
     Radio Liberty
     Power Hour
     Schedule here: http://www.gsradio.net/help/m-f-star-4.htm
Global Star Channel 3 - Right Audio (Star 5) - of course
America's Voice Radio

TV stations carried on transponder5:
http://www.jame-jam.ir/
http://www.alalam.ir/
http://www.ntdtv.com/
http://www.daystar.com/
http://www.ctvn.org/
http://www.nejattv.org/
http://www.tunisiatv.com/
http://www.appadanatv.net/
http://www.irinn.ir/
http://www.payameazadi.com/

There are a total of 18 radio stations on transponder 5. You can look them up here:
http://www.lyngsat.com/galaxy25.html

Note: The prime star dish also has another lnb (the plug marked H) which *I think* can be hooked to another satellite card, and can be tuned to any of the horizontal transponders on galaxy 25.

have fun.

EDIT: An old Hughes-net or WildBlue dish should work too, but NOT direcTV or Dish Network, these are circular polarization = no compatibility Sad

All the options for listening are great.  I very much prefer listening to the mp3 while mobile.   Is it just me, or growing pains: Is anyone else getting 404 error messages, not found on server, when attempting to download the audio only show in the members section ?

On today's Sunday show, Alex mentioned that his show now has a radio affiliate in San Francisco...finally. Does anyone know which radio station has picked it up? I can't seem to locate this news anywhere on the internet. Although I will personally continue to listen to Alex via internet or podcast, it would be great to refer others in San Francisco to the radio broadcast, as I believe they might be more inclined to listen in.

I like the phone number, I have Alltel cell phone service and have a mycircle number.  So when I call in it is a 4 hour a day free phone call,

or I just call in periodically.   Or of course downloading the podcasts to the ipod is great.  Sometimes, you really want to fastforward through the commercials.

Here's something that I feel is worth addressing...
suppose they do indeed wind up restricting the internet, i wouldn't think we could rely on AM/FM affiliates.
i don't know what i can do about it personally....hopefully someone who knows more about
the subject can help me out here....but I think we need more shortwave affiliates with stronger
transmitters. Easier said than done, but I thought i'd bring it up. The only shortwave affiliate I am aware
of is WWCR in TN, which is hard to pick up clearly without a very good antenna/conditions. And I am in Alabama,
which borders TN. I am glad WWCR carries alex, but maybe there are some other affiliates who would carry
the show if enough people were to request it. I just thought I would address this issue before it is too late.

Is there a problem with my computer, or is the audio stream being interrupted / cut frequently?  It was really bad last night too.  I'm trying to figure out if the problem is on my end, or coming from the feed.

I didn't know where to put this, and didn't want to start a new thread.

Hamcheese Bro, I too am in the Bay Area. The best and only way to listen to Alex here is the live internet feed, and/or subscribe to The Alex Jones podcast. No radio affiliates here, unfortunately.

If you're new to the show and want to listen through the archives there's:

Team Wild East http://fema.thewildeast.net/ (June 2008 onwards, commercial free)

http://www.alexjonespodcasts.com/ (April 2007 - late Dec 2008 with commercials, Dec 2008 onwards commercial-free)

GCN archives: http://gcnlive.com/Arc-Dir/AlexJones/ (May 2003 onwards)

Prison planet forum links: http://forum.prisonplanet.com/index.php?topic=38235.0 (generally commercial free)

If you want to do your own editing I recommend mp3DirectCut which can edit mp3 files directly without having to re-encode. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio_software/mp3_tools/mp3directcut.cfm

Unedited archives of the show start from March 18, 2008  (read w/commercials and lower quality) to August 12, 2009 on the LimeLight site, and from that point on (so far), the show is hosted on the Infowars site directly.

First show on llnwd.net: http://freespeech.vo.llnwd.net/o25/pub/rss/20080318_Tue_Alex.mp3
Last show on llnwd.net: http://freespeech.vo.llnwd.net/o25/pub/rss/20090812_Wed_Alex.mp3
See my post above about how to download older shows from the LimeLight archive.  There are a few Saturday shows in there too.  Smiley
All shows post Wednesday, August 12, 2009 can be downloaded from http://rss.infowars.com/Alex.rss

This is just a way for those of you who do not currently have a prisonplanet.tv membership to go back and listen to older shows when you wish to do your own research on topics covered previously, to check out things you might have missed, or if you are a new listener, to see just how accurate Alex and many of his guests have been.  These are files on big content providers, so they are good places to get the show when other sites are down.

The tools are there for us to use.  Thanks again.
