This is a must for listening to downloaded youtube interviews on your mp3 player, or listening to documentaries where the visuals aren't very important. I've found that Pazera Free Audio Extractor is excellent as it is free with no restrictions and can extract the original audio stream.

usually in video editing programs etc, it will automatically separate the audio form the video...also, if you have VLC media player, you can record audio & video's.  I think theres a setting that will record both, or just Audio etc.
