The only hang up to all 50 states dropping D.C. and clearing itself of the soverngity issue is that all Federal Lands (Parks, Wildlife Reserves, etc.) would have to be reclaimed before succession takes place.  Otherwise a very large part of the U.S. would still be turned over.

A former science adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher says the real purpose of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen on Dec. 7-18 is to use global warming hype as a pretext to lay the foundation for a one-world government.

"At [the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in] Copenhagen this December, weeks away, a treaty will be signed," Monkton told a Minnesota Free Market Institute audience on Thursday at Bethel University in St. Paul.

Holdren's prediction that one billion people would die from a global cooling "eco-disaster" was announced by Malthusian population alarmist Ehrlich in his 1986 book entitled, "The Machinery of Nature."

Holdren based his prediction on a bizarre theory that human emissions of carbon dioxide would produce a climate catastrophe in which global warming would cause global cooling with a resultant reduction in agricultural production resulting in widespread disaster.

On pages 273-274 of "The Machinery of Nature," Ehrlich explained Holdren's theory by arguing "some localities will probably become colder as the warmer atmosphere drives the climactic engine faster, causing streams of frigid air to move more rapidly away from the poles." This particular article and graph, as well as a vast majority of John Holdren's above mentioned book, as well as both he and Paul Ehrlich's preoccupation with depopulation... as well as their condemnation of carbon dioxide, DEFINITELY sends up some red flags.

The graphic in the quote above shows the temperature fluctuation measured in degrees Fahrenheit since the year 1998, with no source reference as to where, nor by what method it was measured... which is tantamount to showing you measurements of the very tip of an elephants trunk, without telling you if it was being measured using a micrometer close up or with a yardstick far away... in either case, what does the rest of elephant the looked like?

The following illustrates the ocean temperature over the last 3000 years as well as the methods used to ascertain these numbers prior to direct measurement which has corroborated the method over the last 40 years... Here is the real science.

The climate has always cycled over time. We are now in a cyclic warming trend and the data shows its long cycle predictability. With interdisciplinary communication, science has opened much of the climate change complexity to the light of reason and out of the realm of fear.  Fear is what the UN-IPCC, the politicians, and their minions have chosen to foist on us, a snake god operation in the name of anthropogenic climate change. The IPCC has been unmasked as the political organization it is, with it's money making, world carbon tax, agenda/scam.

The proponants of human caused climate change rattle on about polar bears being destroyed by humanities evil CO2, which is BS. They also go on about island nations like Tuvalu being flooded by "humanity's evil." The data shows that the sea level world wide was about 12 inches higher during the Medieval Climate Optimum from about 750AD to 1200AD. During that time the average ocean temperature reached 24.2 degrees C. Then the Earth plummeted into the Little Ice Age which at it's coldest dropped the ocean temperatures to 21.8 degrees C in about 1750AD. This is when the Thames, the Delaware, and Hudson rivers used to freeze solid every winter. We are now at 22.8 degrees C, (73 degrees Fahrenheit) which is just below the 3,000 year average of just a tad under 23 degrees C. We are still coming out of the Little Ice age today! 1000 years ago the Island of Tuvalu was almost under water, and will be again, but not because of human causes!

NGOs Create Blueprint for Copenhagen Climate Agreement
Bonn report cover Climate change experts from leading non-governmental organizations released their blueprint for a legally binding Copenhagen agreement on June 8, 2009 in Bonn, Germany.

The 160-page Copenhagen Climate Treaty, which took some of the world's most experienced climate NGOs almost a year to write, was distributed to negotiators from 192 states at the June talks in Bonn. The document contains a full legal text covering all the main elements needed to provide a fair and ambitious agreement that keeps climate change impacts below unacceptable risk levels being identified by most scientists. It is intended to serve as the benchmark for governments negotiating a new climate deal and shows how differences between rich and poor nations can be overcome.

Hi Chris, sorry to have butted in with that newsflash.  According to WattsUpWithThat, in an item dated the 3rd of October, this is the draft of the Copenhagen Climate Change Treaty currently out of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change working group and dated September the 15th.

Very revealing article. And it shows the arrogant attitude of Obama...

The White House confirmed that the President would be in Oslo to accept the prize, but a source close to the Administration said it was “hard to see the benefit” of his going to Copenhagen if there was no comprehensive deal for him to close or sign. Another expert, who did not want to be named, said he would be “really, really shocked” if Mr Obama went to Copenhagen, adding that European hopes about the power of his Administration to transform the climate change debate in a matter of months bore little relation to reality. The comprehensive climate change treaty that for years has been the goal of the Copenhagen conference was now an “unrealistic” prospect, Yvo de Boer, the UN official guiding the process, said last week.

Confirmed to go get some bling for his Obamaness, but won't show for a conference that's trying to improve the climate. Hmm, he promotes social service and sacrifice to make things better, yet he decides accepting personal awards is a better use of his time. I guess pitching the Olympics was better use as well.

His words say it's all about the people, but his actions say it's all about him.
