Madeleine Albright confronted on Bilderberg & New World Order Crimes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3WVTnGka0MMadeleine Albright was confronted and exposed as a New World Order shill by a coalition of WeAreChange activists from Ohio and Chicago. As the activists attempted to ask the former Secretary of State some probing questions, they were shoved and assaulted by Albright's entourage. Albright spoke at the Borders bookstore in Chicago on Wednesday, October 7th to flog her book and to propagandize the public. Albright, who is a Director of the Rockefeller/British-controlled Council on Foreign Relations, was told that the American people would not stand for another false flag attack like on 9/11. Anthony from WeAreChange Ohio stepped up and asked Albright about her appearance at the 2008 Bilderberg conference in Chantilly, Virginia. At first, Albright lied and said that she was not at the meeting but eyewitnesses had videotaped her arrival at the secret gathering. When notified of this fact, she backpeddled and said that she "went in to pick somebody up." Albright may be hesitant to admit her links to the Bilderberg Group because evidence has shown that the Bilderberg members intentionally planned to crash the U.S. economy in order to consolidate their economic power. In the film "The Obama Deception" by Alex Jones, author Daniel Estulin stated at the 2006 conference that members of the Bilderberg Group admitted that the group was planning to manipulate the housing market, create oil price fluctuations, and ultimately crash the economy. Her attendance at the Bilderberg meeting would also be considered a violation of the Logan Act, which prohibits U.S. citizens from interacting with a foreign government without the authority of the United States. Albright and her entourage seemed to think that she was only going to get puffball questions from a sycophantic public. Anthony of WeAreChange Ohio stated emphatically, "it was very interesting as soon as I asked her about Bilderberg, they said 'You can't ask any questions' and shoved me away!" Both Anthony and Steve of We Are Change Chicago were immediately removed once they begin to question Albright.. CFR Board of Directors: http://www.cfr.org/about/people/board... Its strange how quickly people go from saying "thank you sir" to "you can stop recording now" as if recording is so evil. We worship celebrities and television, and were fine with all sorts of servaillence by corporations and police, but nobody can have a personal video camera anymore. Strange how fast things change.

Albright is stealthy with her business connections but here is one I found interesting: Alice Albright Maddie's daughter is with Carlyle...http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Bush_Gang/Carlyle_Group_sourcewatch.htmlAccording to the company web site, The Carlyle Group, headquartered in Washington D.C., was established in 1987 as a "private global investment firm that originates, structures and acts as lead equity investor in management-led buyouts, strategic minority equity investments, equity private placements, consolidations and buildups, and growth capital financings." Carlyle states that its "mission is to become the premier global private equity firm and to generate extraordinary returns while maintaining our good name and the good name of our partners. Toward that end, we have established a family of funds in the Carlyle name and a network of offices around the world. We maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct and employ a conservative, proven and disciplined approach to investing." The collection of influential characters who now work, have worked, or have invested in the group would make the most convinced conspiracy theorists incredulous. They include among others, John Major, former British Prime Minister; Fidel Ramos, former Philippines President; Park Tae Joon, former South Korean Prime Minister; Saudi Prince Al-Walid; Colin Powell, former Secretary of State; James Baker III, former Secretary of State; Caspar Weinberger, former Defense Secretary; Richard Darman, former White House Budget Director; the billionaire George Soros, and even some bin Laden family members. You can add Alice Albright, daughter of Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State; Arthur Lewitt, former SEC head; William Kennard, former head of the FCC, to this list. Finally, add in the Europeans: Karl Otto Poehl, former Bundesbank president; the now-deceased Henri Martre, who was president of Aerospatiale; and Etienne Davignon, former president of the Belgian Generale Holding Company. ... http://www.pauldonahue.net/terrorism_reality_check.html... In 1996, Madeleine Albright, then the U.S. Secretary of State, was asked on national television what she felt about the fact that 500,000 Iraqi children had died as a result of U.S. economic sanctions. She replied that, “ It was a very hard choice', but that, all things considered, we think the price is worth it." The price has grown even steeper since, with estimates of the number of civilians killed now at around 1 million. Most of those are children who died from preventable diseases. Denis Halliday, the former assistant secretary general of the UN, resigned rather than administer what he described as a "genocidal sanctions policy" on Iraq. http://kmarx.blogspot.com/2004_10_01_kmarx_archive.htmlWhen President Bush appointed former Secretary of State James Baker III as his envoy on Iraq's debt on December 5, 2003, he called Baker's job "a noble mission." At the time, there was widespread concern about whether Baker's extensive business dealings in the Middle East would compromise that mission, which is to meet with heads of state and persuade them to forgive the debts owed to them by Iraq. Of particular concern was his relationship with merchant bank and defense contractor the Carlyle Group, where Baker is senior counselor and an equity partner with an estimated $180 million stake. ... But according to documents obtained by The Nation, that is precisely what has happened. Carlyle has sought to secure an extraordinary $1 billion investment from the Kuwaiti government, with Baker's influence as debt envoy being used as a crucial lever. The secret deal involves a complex transaction to transfer ownership of as much as $57 billion in unpaid Iraqi debts. The debts, now owed to the government of Kuwait, would be assigned to a foundation created and controlled by a consortium in which the key players are the Carlyle Group, the Albright Group (headed by another former Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright) and several other well-connected firms. Under the deal, the government of Kuwait would also give the consortium $2 billion up front to invest in a private equity fund devised by the consortium, with half of it going to Carlyle. http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/books/2009/09/slide-show-read-my-pins.html?xrailThis week in the magazine, Lauren Collins writes about Madeleine Albright’s new book, “Read My Pins.” Albright, who served as the first female Secretary of State under President Clinton, was fond of using jewelry to express herself on the job. Coca-Cola and Merck have been among the clients for such assistance.[3] It also does research in support of foreign investment goals, and seeks to form public-private partnerships in Western Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.[2] The firm attracted attention in 2006 when it operated on behalf of Dubai Ports World during its controversial attempt to acquire business in key U.S. ports.[3] Among the Albright Group's largest clients is Marsh & McLennan Companies, whose CEO stated that "the access that Madeleine Albright gives Marsh through her global contacts is unprecedented."[4] The firm does not consider itself a lobbying group.[5] Other key foundering members of the Albright Group include former EPA Administrator Carol Browner,[3] and former State Department negotiator Wendy Sherman.[6] In 2008, former Foreign Minister of Germany Joschka Fischer joined as senior strategic counsel and former World Bank economist and U.S. government official Harry Broadman joined as managing director.[7] The additions were made with the goal of improving the firm's European Union connections and trade expertise.[7] Affiliated with the Albright Group is Albright Capital Management, which was founded in 2005 to engage in private fund management.[4] Through 2006 it managed $150 million, and then in early 2007 it was given $329 million to invest in a range of emerging markets on behalf of the large Dutch pension fund PGGM.[4] A PGGM portfolio manager said that Albright "sees a need for investing to create a middle class ... The Mad Albright and Bilderberg Queen Betrix business connection.... http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601086&sid=aU1Dya07Rrr8&refer=latin_americaMadeleine Albright Raises $329 Million for New Fund (Update4) Last Updated: January 18, 2007 17:20 EST By Otis Bilodeau Jan. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Madeleine Albright, the former U.S. secretary of state, raised $329 million to invest in emerging markets, joining the ranks of former dignitaries who have entered the lucrative world of private fund management. Albright Capital Management LLC, an investment firm chaired by Albright in Washington, said it will make ``long term'' investments in a range of assets for PGGM, a Dutch pension fund that manages more than 80 billion euros ($104 billion) for health-care employees and social workers. PGGM, based in Zeist, the Netherlands, committed the entire $329 million. ``We see a lot of potential in emerging markets for economic growth,'' Jelle Beenen, a portfolio manager at PGGM, said in an interview. ``The reason that investing there is always a problem is there are issues like fraud and political instability, so that's why there's value in political-risk management and the involvement of Secretary Albright is a valuable one.'' Private money management is an increasingly popular way for former high-ranking government officials to parlay their political expertise and diplomatic access into personal profits. Lawrence Summers, a former Treasury secretary who served with Albright, 69, in President Bill Clinton's cabinet, joined hedge fund D.E. Shaw & Co. in October as a part-time managing director. Clinton himself is a senior adviser to Yucaipa Cos., a Los Angeles-based private equity firm. Former Officials John Snow, who stepped down as Treasury secretary last year to make way for Henry Paulson, in October was named chairman of Cerberus Capital Management LP, which manages $16.5 billion in hedge funds and private equity. Former President George H.W. Bush, former U.S. Secretary of State James Baker and former U.K. Prime Minister John Major in the past all worked with Carlyle Group in Washington. More recently, former Secretary of State Colin Powell became a strategic limited partner at Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers, the Menlo Park, California-based venture capital firm. Albright Capital was formed in 2005 and managed $150 million as of Jan. 3, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Like most hedge-fund managers and other private-equity firms, it charges clients a management fee based on assets and keeps a share of investment profits, the SEC registration shows. ``She's a major selling point in this venture, and in that sense we're paying for it,'' Beenen said. ``But it's in line with what we pay for absolute return.'' Lucrative Business For a firm that succeeds in growing its assets-under- management, that fee structure can translate into tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of dollars in annual pay. David Shaw, chairman of D.E. Shaw, earned $340 million in 2005, according to Institutional Investor's Alpha magazine. D.E. Shaw oversees $25 billion for clients. Unlike the ex-officials who landed jobs at existing firms, Albright is building her own. She got into the business because ``she sees a need for investing to create a middle class'' in emerging markets, Beenen said. ``There was an ideological background for Secretary Albright to get involved in this.'' Albright Capital is affiliated with Albright Group LLC, the international consulting business that Albright formed in Washington after leaving the government in 2001. ``A knowledge of politics and geopolitical issues can be extraordinarily valuable to an investor,'' said Kenneth Froewiss, a New York University finance professor whose specialties include investment banking and corporate mergers. ``She could be helpful in terms of getting approval to buy a controlling stake in a foreign entity.'' Consulting Clients Albright's consulting clients include Marsh Inc., the insurance-brokerage unit of New York-based Marsh & McLennan Cos. `` To be blunt, the access that Madeleine Albright gives Marsh through her global contacts is unprecedented,'' Chief Executive Officer Brian Storms, who keeps Albright Group on a monthly retainer, said in a Jan. 10 interview. John Yonemoto, who formerly helped manage more than $1 billion at Darby Overseas Investments Ltd., is chairman of Albright Capital's investment committee. Darby Overseas, the emerging-market investment unit of Franklin Resources Inc., was founded by former U.S. Treasury Secretary Nicholas Brady. Gregory Bowes, who worked at Fairfield Greenwich Group and RBS Greenwich Capital Markets Inc., is the chairman of the management committee. He married Albright's daughter, Alice Albright, in 1987. PGGM expects Albright Capital to deliver a 10 percent return over the ``long term'', Beenen said. ``It's not about investing in stocks traded in emerging markets,'' Beenen said. `` It's about investing in a wide range of opportunities, it might be infrastructure, it might be currencies.''

http://www.natosource.com/2009/08/natosource-madeleine-albright-named.html#NATOSource: Madeleine Albright named head of NATO's Wise Men Monday, August 3, 2009NATO's new Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, appointed twelve experts to oversee the development of the new Strategic Concept for the alliance. The special NATO committee (popularly referred to as the group of Wise Men), will be lead by a historic female diplomat, former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Her Vice Chair will be Jeroen van der Veer, former head of Royal Dutch Shell.Until NATO public diplomacy posts the official list, you can see from timeturk.com that the other members of the group are: "Britain's former Defense Minister Geoff Hoon, head of the French National Library Bruno Racine, Italian ambassador Giancarlo Aragona, Canadian ambassador Marie Gervais-Vidricaire, Spanish ambassador Fernando Perpina-Robert Peyra, German ambassador Hans-Friedrich von Ploetz, Latvian ambassador Aivis Ronis, Greek ambassador Yannis-Alexis Zepos and Polish professor Adam Daniel Rotfeld," and Turkey's former Ambassador to NATO, Umit Pamir. --- It is strange how she never played on her jewish roots and how her relatives were murdered by the Nazi's Also the dropping the family name of Korbel for Albright (an alias) On Feb. 25, 1994, the mayor of Letohrad (a Czech town from which the Korbel family hails) wrote to Albright that her Jewish father came from this small Bohemian town, and that her grandparents and other close relatives had died in Nazi camps, the New York Times reported from the Czech Republic on Feb. 7: http://www.srpska-mreza.com/library/facts/Mad.html http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/govt/admin/stories/albright020497.htmAlbright's Family Tragedy Comes to Light By Michael Dobbs Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, February 4, 1997; Page A01 Madeleine Korbel Albright was almost 2 years old when her parents whisked her out of Czechoslovakia in March 1939, less than two weeks after the Nazi occupation, giving up their life as a prominent Czech diplomatic family and saying goodbye to many relatives. Eventually, she and her parents came to America, where Madeleine followed in her father's footsteps into a diplomatic career that culminated two weeks ago when President Clinton made her the first female secretary of state. Albright has spoken movingly of her past and of the importance that her family's experience with Nazis and later Communists has had on her political views. But she says she never was aware of what happened to family members who stayed behind in Czechoslovakia: Research by The Washington Post shows that more than a dozen relatives, including three grandparents, were killed as Jewish victims of the Holocaust.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/985273/postsAlbright's father 'took war loot to America'by Matthew Campbell, Washington A WEALTHY Austrian family is threatening legal action against Madeleine Albright, the American secretary of state, in an acrimonious row over a priceless collection of paintings and antiques that has its roots in the chaotic aftermath of the second world war. In a hitherto unpublicised dispute, descendants of Karl Nebrich, an Austrian industrialist, claim that Albright's father, Josef Korbel, a former Czech foreign ministry official who was Jewish, stole millions of dollars' worth of art and furniture from them, then fled with it and his family to America at the end of the war. Tired of endless brush-offs from an American lawyer acting for John Korbel, Albright's brother, Nebrich's heirs are considering legal proceedings to reclaim the property - including a collection of old masters - in what risks becoming an embarrassing distraction for America's first female secretary of state. "I cannot believe the American secretary of state enjoys eating with my family's silver," Philip Harmer, a great-grandson of Nebrich, said last week. "These things must be handed over to my family." Albright fled from Nazism and then Stalinism as a child and has cited these events as having shaped her world view. After escaping to London when the Germans marched into Prague in 1939, her family returned to the Czech capital in 1945, when Albright was eight. They found that several of the family's Jewish relatives who had stayed behind had died in concentration camps. A luxurious first-floor flat at 11 Hradsanke Street in Prague was assigned to Albright's father as a reward for his services to the Czech foreign ministry. It had been expropriated from the Nebriches, who, although not members of the Nazi party, had lived comfortably as citizens of the Reich during the war but then found themselves out of favour with the Czech authorities when the war ended. The Nebriches allege that Korbel took possession of paintings, silver and antique furniture, though these were not included in the expropriation order. "He took the lot, even the nails from the wall," said Doris Renner, a daughter of Nebrich. When Korbel was appointed ambassador to Yugoslavia, he moved his family - and, allegedly, the treasure trove of art - to Belgrade.Three years later, however, Czechoslovakia's communists staged a coup and Korbel, an opponent of the communists, was in danger. The family fled to America, where he became a professor at the University of Denver. The Nebrich family tried for decades to track a "Dr Korbel" in America. But it was not until 1996, when Albright - then America's ambassador to the United Nations - revisited her childhood home in Prague and spoke of her happy memories, that the Nebrich family realised she was Korbel's daughter. Harmer, acting for Nebrich's two surviving children - Renner, his great-aunt, and Ruth Harmer, his grandmother - began bombarding Albright's office with faxes, letters and lists of items allegedly taken by Korbel. Among them were 20 paintings - including one by Tintoretto, the Venetian master, and one by Andrea del Sarto, another of the most important artists of the 16th century. "You lived in our flat as an eight-year-old child and I am sure you will remember some of the paintings mentioned on the attached list," Harmer wrote to Albright in February 1997. He suggested a meeting. The response was not promising. "You may wish to raise this matter with the government of the Czech Republic," a State Department official wrote back. After more faxes from Harmer, Albright handed the file to John Korbel, her younger brother. Michael Jaffe, his lawyer, wrote to Harmer in October, 1997, saying: "There is no basis whatever for thinking that any artworks of the late Ambassador Korbel came to him improperly." Undeterred, Harmer flew to Washington last year to see the lawyer. "Essentially he said we have no case and warned us not to make a noise since this powerful woman is involved," Harmer alleged. The lawyer declined to discuss the case last week and Korbel, who works for the accounting firm Price Waterhouse Coopers in Arlington, Virginia, was unavailable for comment. Harmer is considering taking Albright, Korbel and their sister, Kathy, to court. He was heartened recently by Korbel's reported acknowledgment to a journalist writing a biography of Albright that at least some works on the Nebrich list belong either to him or to Kathy. None of the paintings is believed to be hanging in Albright's home in Georgetown, Washington. Harmer said the family believed that Korbel Sr might have sold some of the paintings to finance his start in America. "We accept that Josef Korbel's children are not responsible for their father's activities," he wrote in another fax to Korbel's lawyer last week. "However," "we definitely expected them to list any items honestly and to hand them over." Renner says she recalls Josef Korbel arguing that he was entitled to take the Nebriches' belongings as compensation for having lost everything to the Nazis.
"All his relatives died in concentration camps," she said last week from her home on the shores of Lake Wolfgang near Salzburg. "That is very sad. But it doesn't justify him taking everything from us

So who was her first husband?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Medill_Patterson_AlbrightJoseph Medill Patterson Albright (born 1935) is the former husband of Madeleine Albright, former United States Secretary of State. He is the scion of a media empire, the grandson and namesake of Joseph Medill Patterson, founder of the New York Daily News who had rivaled William Randolph Hearst in the cutthroat publishing industry of the 1930s. His great-great grandfather, Joseph Medill, owned the Chicago Tribune and had been elected mayor of Chicago. His aunt, Alicia Patterson, founded Newsday. Albright attended Williams College. He met Madeleine Korbel when she spent a summer working at the Denver Post. They married after Madeleine's graduation from Wellesley College. They had three daughters, Katie and twins Anne and Alice. The couple divorced in 1982. Albright and his wife Marcia Kunstel own Flat Creek Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2003/oct/30/usa.emmabrockes'I loved what I did' - The Guardian, Thursday 30 October 2003 'Born in Czechoslovakia, moves to America, wins Ivy League scholarship, marries newspaper heir, suffers desperately sad divorce, becomes the most powerful woman in the world... Madeleine Albright has lived a bit. Now 66, she tells Emma Brockes she is ready to start dating again Her dad trained her AND Condi Rice (Condi before Stanford....):http://www.anti-communistanalyst.com/josef_korbel.htmlhttp://portland.indymedia.org/en/2004/04/285931.shtml Josef Korbel's Enduring Foreign Policy LegacyProfessor Mentored Daughter Albright and Student Rice By Michael Dobbs, The Washington Post, Thursday, December 28, 2000; Page A05 As a junior at the University of Denver, Condoleezza Rice was all set to pursue a career in music, helping children appreciate Mozart and Beethoven. Then the future national security adviser to President-elect Bush took a course in international politics under a professor named Josef Korbel. Suddenly, almost overnight, she found her vocation. "It was like love at first sight," she recalls. Prodded by Korbel, a refugee from communism, she became fascinated by the Soviet Union, and eventually decided to teach international relations herself. She describes her old professor as "one of the most central figures in my life, next to my parents." There are few better examples of continuity in American foreign policy than the obscure international relations professor who was at once the mentor of the incoming national security adviser and the father of the outgoing secretary of state. Like Rice, Madeleine K. Albright depicts Korbel, who died in 1977, as the guiding intellectual influence on her life. "A good deal of what I did," she once told an interviewer, "I did because I wanted to be like my father." ... Under Korbel's guidance, both Albright and Rice made Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union their principal field of study, almost to the exclusion of other important regions, such as the Middle East and China. Both wrote books inspired by, and dedicated to, Korbel. Albright wrote her doctoral dissertation on the role of the press in Communist-dominated Czechoslovakia; Rice studied the relationship between the Soviet and Czechoslovak armies. As both women have testified, Korbel was a remarkable teacher, with a gift for communicating his enthusiasm to others. But he was also an extraordinarily complicated personality: a man of great moral principle who felt it necessary to hide his Jewish background, an exuberant character forever struggling with an ingrained European pessimism, a naturally gregarious man who could be rude and high-handed. Not the least of Korbel's contradictions was his attitude toward women wanting to make a career in foreign policy. The founder of a graduate school for international studies at the University of Denver, Korbel initially was reluctant to accept female students and professors. Over time, however, he became a champion of women such as Rice, whose father was a member of the university's faculty ...

How daddy Korbel got the paintings....http://www.dasgelbeforum.de.org/30434/messages/280153.htm27. Juni 2004 Albright given ultimatum over stolen painting claimsBy Tony Paterson, in Vienna ... Among the members of the new Czech government was Madeleine Albright's father, Josef Korbel. In the late summer of 1945 he returned to Prague with his family as a Czech foreign ministry diplomat after spending the war years in exile in London and learning that many of his Jewish relatives had perished in Hitler's concentration camps. "Josef Korbel, his daughter Madeleine and the rest of his family took up residence in our family apartment in Prague at 11 Hradsanke Street," explained Mr Harmer. "Not one member of my family ever had anything to do with the Nazis but the climate in Prague at the time was so anti-German that my family had no option but to leave." Shortly afterwards Mr Korbel is believed to have expropriated the Harmers' paintings, which had been moved for safekeeping to an apartment belonging to the Swiss embassy in Prague where Mr Harmer's great-aunt, a Swiss citizen by marriage, was living. "Korbel saw the bare patches on the wall of our apartment where the paintings had been hanging and demanded that the housekeepers tell him where they were. He then went round to my great-aunt's flat and removed them," Mr Harmer said. His allegations are backed up by a letter sent to Mrs Albright by Mr Harmer's 89-year-old great-grandmother Ruth Harmer-Nebrich: "Your father did not care. He threatened my sister in a very nasty way and as she was a rather weak and sick person she did not resist and so the paintings had to be brought back to the place where he had moved in at 11 Hradsanke Street," she wrote. "When your family moved to Belgrade, Mr Korbel took every single item with him . . . He also took valuable silver and bedlinen that Jewish families had asked us to keep for them during the Nazi occupation." Mr Harmer said that after Mr Korbel had taken up a job as a Czech diplomat in Belgrade in late 1945, he decided to return to London before finally emigrating with his family to America. "We are fairly sure that Korbel persuaded the British embassy in Belgrade to shift our paintings to London as diplomatic baggage which would have escaped any examination by customs," he said. Mr Harmer is certain that although Mr Korbel may have sold some of the paintings on arrival in America, several of the artworks are in the homes of Mrs Albright's younger brother John Korbel in Arlington, Virginia, and her sister Kathy. Shortly after he began approaching the US State Department, he was referred to the lawyer Michael Jaffe, representing John Korbel. But Mr Harmer's initially cordial correspondence met with a rebuff...

Interesting history reading.....http://www.historycommons.org/entity.jsp?entity=madeleine_albrightDecember 1997-Spring 1998: Urgent Requests for Embassy Security Go UnheededBy December 1997, Prudence Bushnell, the US Ambassador to Kenya, is aware that her embassy could be in danger. She has been told of an August 1997 warning that proved there was an al-Qaeda cell in Nairobi (see Late 1994), a precise (and ultimately accurate) November 1997 warning detailing a plot to attack the embassy (see November 1997), and other recent warnings, including information indicating that she is an assassination target. She sends two cables to State Department headquarters in Washington, claiming that the embassy’s location makes it “extremely vulnerable to a terrorist attack,” and asks for security improvements to be made. The State Department turns down her requests and begins to see Bushnell as a nuisance. In early 1998, General Anthony Zinni, the commander of US forces in the region, visits the Nairobi embassy and decides it is vulnerable to terrorist attacks. He offers to send a security team to inspect the situation, but his offer is turned down. The State Department sends its own team instead and in March 1998 determines that about $500,000 worth of easily implemented improvements should make the embassy secure. But the money is not quickly allocated. Bushnell then sends “an emotional letter to Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright begging for the Secretary’s personal help.” She says she has been fighting for months for a more secure embassy as threats increase, and that the State Department’s refusal to grant her requests for funding is “endangering the lives of embassy personnel.”
Albright takes no action.
The embassy will be bombed in August (see 10:35-10:39 a.m., August 7, 1998). August 4-19, 1998: US Refuses Extradition of Two Embassy BombersBut around August 14, a Sudanese intelligence official contacts an intermediary and former White House employee named Janet McElligott and gives her a vague message that Sudan is holding important suspects and the FBI should send a team immediately to see if they want to take custody of them. [Randal, 2005, pp. 132-135] The FBI wants the two men, but on August 17, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright forbids their extradition. The US has decided to bomb a factory in Sudan in retaliation for the embassy bombings instead of cooperating with Sudan. But FBI agent John O’Neill is not yet aware of Albright’s decision, and word of the Sudanese offer reaches him on August 19. He wants immediate approval to arrest the two suspects and flies to Washington that evening to discuss the issue with counterterrorism “tsar” Richard Clarke. But Clarke tells O’Neill to speak to Attorney General Janet Reno. Later that night, O’Neill talks to Reno and she tells him that the decision to retaliate against Sudan instead has already been made. Mere hours later, the US attack a factory in Sudan with cruise missiles (see August 20, 1998). Within days, it becomes apparent that the factory had no link to al-Qaeda (see September 23, 1998), and no link between the bombings and the Sudanese government will emerge (although Sudan harbored bin Laden until 1996). [Randal, 2005, pp. 132-138] The Sudanese will continue to hold the two men in hopes to make a deal with the US. But the US is not interested, so after two weeks they are send to Pakistan and set free there (see August 20-September 2, 1998). February 6-23, 1999: Kosovo Talks in Rambouillet End Without Agreement... Albright also works closely with the Kosovar Albanians, who are being advised by Americans Morton Abramowitz, Marshall Harris, and Paul Williams. [Christian Science Monitor, 2/10/1999] Albright offers the Albanians “incentives intended to show that Washington is a friend of Kosovo,” the New York Times reports. “Officers in the Kosovo Liberation Army would… be sent to the United States for training in transforming themselves from a guerrilla group into a police force or a political entity.” [New York Times, 2/24/1999] Madeleine Albright shakes hands with “freedom fighter” 20-year-old Hashim Thaci, a leader of the KLA [Wall Street Journal (Europe), 11/1/2001] who had previously been labeled a terrorist leader by the US. [Chicago Tribune, 7/11/2004] Albright KLA MPRI CIA http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Senate/8277/ipan51.htmUS-backed KLA linked to heroin network, say intelligence reportsTuesday 4 May 1999 By Ramesh Chandran WASHINGTON: The Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), the fulcrum of Clinton Administration's strategic design to repel Serbian forces from Kosovo, has been financed with ``profits'' from the sale of heroin. Sensational disclosures in the media here citing classified US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) documents show that drug agents in five countries, including the US, believe that the KLA has aligned itself with an extensive organised crime network centred in Albania that smuggles heroin and cocaine to buyers in Western Europe. The DEA documents copiously quoted here on Monday by The Washington Times, says that the members of the notorious Albanian mafia have links to a ``drug smuggling cartel'' based in Kosovo's capital, Pristina. This cartel is allegedly manned by ethnic Albanians who are members of the Kosovo National Front (KNF) whose armed wing is the KLA. The DEA documents apparently show it is one of the ``most powerful heroin smuggling organisations in the world'' with its profits being diverted to the KLA to buy weapons. For some years the Clinton Administration as well as its predecessors have been backing an organisation that is steeped in Krime According to the DEA report prepared for the National Narcotics Intelligence Consumer's Committee (NNICC) and cited by The Times, the heroin is smuggled along the ``Balkan route'' in cars, trucks and boats initially to Austria, Germany and Italy, where it is routed to ``eager buyers'' in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and Great Britain. The deadly ``white powder,'' says the DEA report, finds its way to the US. There is also a touch of irony in the fact that as recently as 1998, the US State Department listed the KLA, formerly known as the ``Ushtria Clirimtare e Kosoves,'' or UCK, as an ``international terrorist organisation'' accusing it of bankrolling its operations with proceeds from the international heroin trade and from ``loans'' from terrorists like Osama Bin Laden --who heads Washington's ``most wanted'' lists. One unidentified drug official quoted in the report claims: ``They were terrorist$ in 1998 and now, because of politic$, they're freedom fighters.'' The DEA report also maintains that a majority of the heroin seized in Europe is transported over the Balkan route. It also says that the Kosovo traffickers were noted for their ``use of violence'' and for their involvement in ``international weapons trafficking.'' A separate DEA report written just last month suggests that although the war in the Balkans had reduced the drug flow to Western Europe along the Balkan Route, new land routes have opened across Romania, Hungary and the Czech Republic. It estimates that every month four to six metric tons of heroin leaves Turkey bound for Western Europe, the bulk of it travelling over the Balkan Route. Other recent independent reports have also echoed similar concerns about the KLA. France's Geopolitical Observatory of Drugs stated in a recent report that the KLA was a ``key player'' in the rapidly expanding drugs-for-arms business and helped transport $2 billion orth of drugs annually into Western Europe. Jane's Intelligence Review stimated in March that drug sales could have netted the KLA profits Kut in the ``high tens of millions of dollars.'' Both President Clinton and some senior members of the Senate have enthusiastically proposed arming the KLA to the teeth in its war against the Serbs. Senators Mitch McConnell and Joseph Lieberman introduced a recent bill that would provide $25 million to equip 10,000 KLA men or 10 battalions --with small arms and anti-tank weapons for upto 18 months. http://www.wsws.org/articles/2000/mar2000/koso-m16.shtmlBritish documentary substantiates US-KLA collusion in provoking war with Serbia - 16 March 2000... Both Albright and Rubin are extraordinarily candid about what they set out to accomplish at Rambouillet. They presented an ultimatum that the Serbian government could not possibly accept, because it demanded a NATO occupation of not just Kosovo, but unrestricted access to the whole of Serbia. As Serbian General Pavcovic comments: "They would have unlimited rights of movement and deployment, little short of occupation. Nobody could accept it." This was the US's intention. Albright told the BBC: "If the Serbs would not agree [to the Rambouillet ultimatum], and the Albanians would agree, then there was a very clear cause for using force." Rubin added, "Obviously, publicly, we had to make clear we were seeking an agreement, but privately we knew the chances of the Serbs agreeing were quite small." KLA leader Thaci was the only problem, because he was demanding the inclusion of a referendum on independence. So Albright was despatched on St. Valentines Day to take charge of winning him over. Veton Suroi, a political rival of the KLA involved in the talks, gives a candid description of Albright's message to Thaci: "She was saying, you sign, the Serbs don't sign, we bomb. You sign, the Serbs sign, you have NATO in. So it's up to you." After three weeks of discussions, Thaci finally agreed to sign the Rambouillet Accord. The path was cleared for the US to begin an open war against Serbia, a war that had been prepared with the aid of CIA dirty tricks and political manoeuvring with terrorist forces. http://www.larouchepub.com/other/2001/2824_kla_drugs.htmlKLA and Drugs: The `New Colombia of Europe' Grows in Balkansby Umberto Pascali ... Still now in Kosovo, despite the KLA terror regime, Rugova has the support of the ethnic Albanians. However, the KLA usurped Rugova's leadership thanks to two elements: first, the unconditional support of U.S. and British leaders, in particular then-U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright (a protégé of George Soros and Zbigniew Brzezinski) and British Prime Minister Tony Blair; and second, the support of the Kosovo mafia. ... Under the cease-fire agreement of June 1999, the KLA was supposed to disarm and disband. Nato's "12 Wise Men" are getting ready to redefine NATO's Mission....as defined by Bilderberg's Korbel-Albright and Queen Beatrix 's RDS Jeroen van der Veerhttp://www.armtown.com/news/en/pan/20090804/35078/NATO WISE MEN TO DEVELOP NEW STRATEGIC PLANAugust 04, 2009A former Turkish diplomat will become a member of the "Wise Men" committee of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) that will be assigned with preparing a new strategic plan for the alliance. Retired ambassador Umit Pamir, who had also been Turkey's permanent representative to NATO in the past, will be one of the 12 wise men who will give shape to NATO's new "Strategic Concept". The Wise Men Group will be headed by former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, while former head of Royal Dutch Shell Jeroen van der Veer will act as the vice-chairman of the committee. Apart from Pamir, Britain's former Defense Minister Geoff Hoon, head of the French National Library Bruno Racine, Italian ambassador Giancarlo Aragona, Canadian ambassador Marie Gervais-Vidricaire, Spanish ambassador Fernando Perpina-Robert Peyra, German ambassador Hans-Friedrich von Ploetz, Latvian ambassador Aivis Ronis, Greek ambassador Yannis-Alexis Zepos and Polish professor Adam Daniel Rotfeld will be the other members of the group. NATO SG Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that the existing Strategic Concept of the alliance should be updated in a way that would include new threats such as asymmetric terrorism, Turkish Press reported. http://www.warsawvoice.pl/view/20836Poland's Rotfeld Among NATO 'Wise Men' 2 September 2009Former Polish foreign minister Adam Rotfeld has joined a group of NATO "Wise Men" responsible for drafting the new strategic priorities of the Alliance. Anders Fogh Rassmusen, the new NATO secretary-general, appointed the group Aug. 3, his first day in office. The group is chaired by former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and includes officials from Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, Greece, Turkey, and Latvia. Rotfeld was previously a member of a group of experts who drafted the Declaration on Alliance Security that was adopted during NATO's anniversary summit in Strasbourg and Kehl in April. Rotfeld was director of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) from 1991 to 2002 and Polish foreign minister between Jan. 5 and Oct. 31, 2005. In 1992-1993, the 71-year-old diplomat and researcher served as a representative of the chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) for the political settlement of the conflict in the Trans-Dniester region of Moldova. In 2008, the UN secretary general appointed Rotfeld chairman of the Advisory Board on Disarmament. Recently, Rotfeld was co-chairman of the Polish-Russian Committee for Difficult Matters, which was revived in 2008. The committee aims to help Poland and Russia reach an agreement on sensitive issues in their shared history. The Polish foreign ministry has issued a statement to say that the presence of Polish and Latvian officials in the Group of Wise Men gives Central and Eastern Europe a strong voice in the process of mapping out new directions of NATO's development and reform. "As an active member of the Alliance, Poland has concrete proposals aimed at making the Alliance ready to respond to the challenges and threats of the 21st century," the statement reads. "Poland also intends to emphasize the role of the region in Euro-Atlantic policy." Discussions on the new document will be held during seminars and consultations with individual member states. In the spring next year, the group is expected to unveil its final report that will become a basis for intergovernmental negotiations. It is expected that the new Strategic Concept of the Alliance will be approved at a NATO summit in the fall of next year, replacing the currently binding Concept approved in 1999.
