The cops are going overboard, push the woman, one cop bumps her back with a nightstick, she naturally gets pissed and throws bike back at them, then they take her down.

That video's evidence. I hope she sues them.

Note the media play their Orwellian part in the oppression. They frame the woman, not the cops, as the villain getting what she deserved.  Instead of titling the video "Cops Assault Peaceful Woman", they title it "Woman Throws Bike At Cops, Gets Arrested". No mention of the fact that the cops were assaulting her and others without provocation repeatedly.

I wonder whether we should call the Pittsburgh police to see that she's ok?

These evil cops are gonna get theirs soon if there is any real karma.  I take that back , I will no longer refer to them by the name cops. as they gave up the right to be called that any longer.

The resistance starts here. Unfortunately, the entire thing is moving beyond the intellectual infowar. I vow I will not make an overt rush at violent authority, until authority makes it's violent rush at me and you. I will not falter, I will not die in this course. For that is how they win.

Just wow...this is so aggravating!

This is what I saw. I seen the police driving the crowd in a direction. Everyone was doing it. The cops were being very aggressive, and I think she just got aggravated that she was being pushed for no reason at all and could not get her bike going. I am 100% positive that she just threw the bike in discuss. What she did not know is that the police behind her would take great offense to it and the police attacked her. The police are absolutely wrong in this video and to see them drag her like a rag down is completely wrong.

I have said it once and I'll say it again. I hope that this young lady takes this video and all the other video that she will be offered and takes the city of Pittsburgh to court. I am very confident that she will win.

Honestly folks, this goes way beyond police work and you just have to wonder how do each and everyone of those officers lay their heads down and sleep thinking that they protected the city this last week. I mean come on. Make this stuff viral, pass it on to everyone and make sure that your local media show it over and over again. The city of Pittsburgh and their police department must go down for crimes against United States Citizens.

I am a Pitt student who was present for the events. What takes place in this video occurred after the summit was over and after all leaders had left the city. The police force of over 1,000 officers was present prior to any potentially unlawful demonstration. I personally was on the receiving end of several less-lethal weapons, without warning, many blocks from the "unlawful assembly" as the police department declared it.

G20 police take over a section of Forbes Ave by "The O" (Original Hot Dog Shop) near the center of the University of Pittsburgh campus in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. Scores of militarized police in riot gear file down Bouquet Street from the 5th Ave side of Litchfield Towers. A handful of onlookers gather on a street corner across the street to view (and in some cases film) the odd activity. No protest is taking place and there is not a protester in sight. A dispersal order is heard in the distance, but it is not clear that it is directed at the people on the street corner. A small group of police on bicycles appear off to the right while everyone's attention is on the small army of police in riot gear across the street. The police on bicycles casually drive over near the observers, then they suddenly turn toward the observers and begin macing people in the face. A volunteer medic quickly arrives and assists by rinsing their eyes with water. The police with mace chase everyone back toward Bouquet Gardens apartments.

Note: The video erroneously says that it was approximately 10:55pm, but it was actually 11:55pm (the time on the camera was incorrect).

I wonder if the cops who pushed her and hit her in the back will apologize too?

http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/news/21118413/detail.html

PITTSBURGH -- Lauren Wasson, who was seen on video Thursday night throwing a bicycle at police during a G-20 protest, was released from the Allegheny County Jail after posting $10,000 dollars bond.

Wasson, who was charged with of aggravated assault against a police officer, she told her side of the story to WTAE Channel 4 Action News on Saturday.

“A girl got knocked down in front of me and I had my bike with me, so I was trying to go around the girl and help her up. I was yelling at the cop, 'Please, let his girl up. Please stop, let her up.' And, they were just yelling, 'Move,' and taking their bikes and physically hitting people with their bikes," Wasson said.

WTAE Channel 4 Action News video shows Wasson appearing on her bicycle in the midst of a smoke-filled melee at Schenley Plaza and getting shoved off the bike by a police officer, then shoved again by another officer.

In the video, Wasson picks up the bike and tosses it at police, who immediately wrestle her to the ground and handcuffed her.

Wasson said she wasn't resisting, but she reacted fast when she said she was hit with a nightstick.

"My thoughts weren't entirely in tact. I reacted very, very abruptly, but that's basically what happened," she said.

Team 4 asked the Pittsburgh Police Bureau why officers shoved Wasson while she was moving in sync with the rest of the crowd.

Police spokeswoman Diane Richard said Wasson was "asked to disperse repeatedly and ignored the warnings. She was obstructing traffic at the intersection of Bellefield and Forbes."

Pittsburgh Police Chief Nate Harper said it's hard to talk about individual arrests, but that police followed crowd-control protocol.

"We do not take action until after we give at least several orders to disperse, which gives them plenty of time to leave the area. If they decide to stay in the area, then we will arrest them for failure to disperse," Harper said.

Wasson called it excessive force by police, saying her arm went backwards and her face was shoved to the pavement. The district attorney called what Wasson did aggravated assault.

Wasson said she doesn't want to return to jail.

"If I did hurt anyone with my bike -- which I hope I didn't -- I apologize," Wasson said.

Team 4's Jim Parsons reported that Wasson became known as "the bike girl" among employees at Municipal Court downtown who saw the WTAE Channel 4 Action News video from Oakland.

Mark Dunn -- Wasson's supervisor at Double Wide Grill on the South Side -- said on Friday that Wasson took off work Thursday night so she could check out the G-20 protests.

"I told her it wasn't a good idea to go down there, to stay away," said Dunn.

"I mean, she's a good person. I don't know why she would throw a bike," Dunn said. "Good person, but she has an attitude. Everybody liked her."

"She's just that kind of person -- like, since I've met her, if she believes in something, she's going to stand up for it," said Wasson's coworker, Julie Chewar.

Vic Walczak, of the American Civil Liberties Union in Pittsburgh, said Wasson should have never thrown the bicycle at officers but they also should not have shoved her.

Wasson now awaits a court date on Wednesday.

Josh Berman, a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh, was also arrested during the Schenley Plaza gathering and spent the night in jail. He said police officers didn't allow him to follow their command to disperse.

"I look up the street, up Forbes. There's a wall of cops coming at me this way and another that way. There really was no way you could get out of there. You move and you get taken down," Berman told Team 4.

She dosnt really throw the bike per say just pushes it over at them, but still 30 guys in black uniforms with shields and sticks didnt have to beat a poor girl like that, or anyone who is not as equally armed for that fact. And the police saying they are just following Protocol, and they and all the press are ignoring the fact they have no right to enforce these commands. These people are Frauds and Evil as all Hell!!!!

Why the hell does everybody else just watch?  It should be against the law to allow a fellow human be unlawfully and undeservingly assaulted and then arrested like this.  They saw what happened and allowed it, just like hundreds of other cases(remember the "don't taze me bro" incident?)

I seriously hope that someone(many) stands up for her in a court of law. She had NO INTENT on throwing her bike at a cop. She was frustrated and even if she was part of a crowd that was told to leave they were. At this point Law Enforcement was no respecter of persons. When they finally pushed her enough and the rest of the crowd she reacted just like anyone else would have...out of frustration. The Pittsburgh Police made her make that decision. She was not trying to throw her bike at them. Then came the assault on her. Completely inappropriate. How can a Chief of police that sees this back his officers?

$10,000 bail? are you kidding me?? This was not a murder or anything like that. Plain and Simple, the police were in the wrong and I hope someone goes into court and fights for her. However, I'm not so sure that she will win, the a corrupt police department and a corrupt city with the DA on their side....its going to be rough...

How do the citizens of Pittsburgh respect their police officers after all this. Whats going to happen when they try to do a normal traffic stop? People are going to be scared to death....

She doidn't throw shit, he pushed her, and she lunged the bike for emphasis or in exasperation... But that wasn't what Mr. Gorilla arms wanted to hear, so he broadsides her in the temple with his riot stick...and the rest of the neanderthals join in for the fun of it. How utterly vile.
