NO SWINE VACCINE e-petition (which I signed)
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to ban the use of swine flu vaccinations due to the fact the vaccinations contain a man made weaponized swine flu virus which will cause death or serious injury to members of the public.

The Government’s response
Thank you for your e-petition.  The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has strict processes in place for licensing pandemic vaccines.

In preparing for a pandemic, appropriate trials to assess safety and the immune responses have been carried out on vaccines very similar to the swine flu vaccine. The vaccines have been shown to have a good safety profile.

No decision has been taken to embark on a mass vaccination campaign, but any vaccination against swine flu would not be compulsory.  Everyone has a right to refuse the swine flu vaccination, or any other vaccination.  Where a child is too young to consent themselves to being vaccinated, the right to decide rests with the person with parental responsibility.

There was no vaccine available to protect against the 1918/19 Spanish flu.  However, the UK will be in the fortunate position of being able to offer protection to those most at risk from swine flu once the vaccine becomes available.

People should be reassured that so far the virus is generally mild in most cases. However, it is proving more serious in some cases and sadly a small number of people have died. The World Health Organisation (WHO) advice is that serious cases should be treated immediately.

The UK is one of the best-prepared countries in the world when it comes to dealing with the pandemic. We have a large stockpile of antivirals, and the vaccine is in the process of being licensed. NHS organisations have plans in place to cope with the effects of a pandemic.

The Government will continue to take the best independent scientific advice to inform our decisions on vaccination issues.

bump for those lazier Brits who may have e-voted but haven't given their opinion on this response yet and for the early-rising Americans who may have missed this when I posted in this morning UK-time.

I signed the Petitionsite.com one.

That response sounds to me like Obama's words of assurance that no one has to take the shot, while at the very same time health workers are threatened with or given the sack - fine don't take it, but you won't have a job ....
"No decision has been taken to embark on a mass vaccination campaign...."
Doublespeak again... today on BBC news site it's saying "...the trial comes just a month before more than 11 million people considered to be most at risk from flu will be offered the swineflu vaccine. It will also be made available to more than 2 million health workers."
So over 13 million to start with then? So that's not "mass" vaccination..?
The "trial" they're talking about - it's on children between 6 months and 12 years (1000 of them) and it's started already.
Forcing the shots on us or not - ? The TV news headlines on 31st of May this year was "The BMA are discussing the introduction of mandatory vaccinations for children.." - parents benefits will be cut and children not allowed into state schools if vaccines refused..."Fear of measles epidemic" cited because of lowering of MMR uptake...
So no gun to the head then (yet), just withdrawal of income and excluding kids from school. Absolute freedom of choice for everyone, of course, how kind of the government.  Lips sealed Lips sealed Lips sealed

OMG it took about an hour to post a reply -  it kept coming up with "TIMED OUT, Server blahblah" - that's happened before and I've given up and lost all my text, so I kept persevering and ended up posting it TWICE; then went on "modify" and deleted one, but it came up that I'd passed the time limit to modify it  Undecided now I'll see if this 'l post ...

well, I'm in Oxford where they're recruiting for the a-H1N1 'novel' vaccine trial, and the fear I have is that this shit's VIRUS SHEDDING all over town already like hundreds of virtual Typhoid Marys.

That's a scarey thought. Wouldn't it be obvious to everyone though, if the trial areas suddenly have huge numbers of swine-flu sick, (though by all accounts everyone who's phoned NHS Direct with a cold has it) - but if the virus from the vaccine is the nasty mutation that looks inevitable.
I suppose the hypnotised sheep will be reassured as usual by the media's soothing words, that that's not really what they are seeing ...
If you are right, sorry to hear you live in a trial area - don't know what to suggest  Huh .. protective suit?
