Alex mentioned water on the Moon at the beginning of the broadcast.  Imagine this!

India’s lunar mission finds evidence of water on the Moon

Dreams of establishing a manned Moon base could become reality within two decades after India’s first lunar mission found evidence of large quantities of water on its surface.

Data from Chandrayaan-1 also suggests that water is still being formed on the Moon. Scientists said the breakthrough — to be announced by Nasa at a press conference today — would change the face of lunar exploration.

The discovery is a significant boost for India in its space race against China. Dr Mylswamy Annadurai, the mission’s project director at the Indian Space Research Organisation in Bangalore, said: “It’s very satisfying.”

The search for water was one of the mission’s main objectives, but it was a surprise nonetheless, scientists said. The unmanned craft was equipped with Nasa’s Moon Mineralogy Mapper, designed specifically to search for water by picking up the electromagnetic radiation emitted by minerals. The M3 also made the unexpected discovery that water may still be forming on the surface of the Moon, according to scientists familiar with the mission.

“It’s very satisfying,” said Dr Mylswamy Annadurai, the project director of Chandrayaan-1 at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bangalore. “This was one of the main objectives of Chandrayaan-1, to find evidence of water on the Moon,” he told The Times.

Dr Annadurai would not provide any further details before a news conference at Nasa today from Dr Carle Pieters, a planetary geologist of Brown University who oversaw the M3.

Dr Pieters has not spoken about her results so far and was not available for comment last night, according to colleagues at Brown University. But her results are expected to cause a sensation, and to set the agenda for lunar exploration in the next decade.

They will also provide a significant boost for India as it tries to catch up with China in what many see as a 21st-century space race. “This will create a considerable stir. It was wholly unexpected,” said one scientist also involved in Chandrayaan-1. “People thought that Chandrayaan was just lagging behind the rest but the science that’s coming out, it’s going to be agenda-setting.”

Scientists have long hoped that astronauts could be based on the Moon and use water found there to drink, extract oxygen to breathe and use hydrogen as fuel.

Several studies havesuggested that there could be ice in the craters around the Moon’s poles, but scientists have been unable to confirm the suspicions.

The M3, an imaging spectrometer, was designed to search for water by detecting the electromagnetic radiation given off by different minerals on and just below the surface of the Moon. Unlike previous lunar spectrometers, it was sensitive enough to detect the presence of small amounts of water.

M3 was one of two Nasa instruments among 11 pieces of equipment from around the world on Chandrayaan-1, which was launched into orbit around the Moon in October last year. ISRO lost control of Chandrayaan-1 last month, and aborted the mission ahead of schedule, but not before M3 and the other instruments had beamed data back to Earth.

Another lunar scientist familiar with the findings said: “This is the most exciting breakthrough in at least a decade. And it will probably change the face of lunar exploration for the next decade.”

Scientists are eagerly awaiting the results of two American unmanned lunar missions, which were both launched in June, that could also prove the existence of water on the Moon.

Early results from Nasa’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) recorded temperatures as low as -238C (minus 396.4F) in polar craters on the Moon, according to the journal Nature. That makes them the coldest recorded spots in the solar system, even colder than the surface of Pluto, and could mean that ice has been trapped for billions of years, the journal said. The LRO has also detected an abundance of hydrogen, thought to be a key indicator of ice, at the poles.

The other Nasa mission, the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS), is due to crash a probe into a polar crater on October 9 in the hope of sending up a plume of ice that can be examined by telescope.

“We are on the verge of a renaissance in our thinking about the poles of the Moon, including how water ice gets there,” Anthony Colaprete, principal investigator for LCROSS, said in Nature.

Big bang

• The Moon is 4.6 billion years old, about the same age as the Earth

• It is thought to have formed from a giant dust cloud caused when a rogue planet collided with the Earth

• It is 238,000 miles from the Earth

• Gravity on the Moon is a sixth of that on Earth

It hasn't yet sunk in to how ground breaking it is. Its not that they found water there, but large quantities of Water.

Which would imply that during the Apollo missions this was left quiet for a reason...what else was left quiet?

Perhaps the cabins they might have built on the shores.   Cheesy  Um the sites that convert water to oxygen and the hydrogen to energy.  Oh dear me, we can go real crazy with the speculation here.  I mean how many countries are already in space and here we are 40yrs after the 1st moon landing, and INDIA finds water?  How credible is that?

NASA finds water on the moon
AFP

WASHINGTON (AFP) – A "significant amount" of frozen water has been found on the moon, the US space agency said Friday heralding a major leap forward in space exploration and boosting hopes of a permanent lunar base.

Preliminary data from a moon probe "indicates the mission successfully uncovered water in a permanently shadowed lunar crater," NASA said in a statement.

"The discovery opens a new chapter in our understanding of the moon," it added, as ecstatic scientists celebrated the landmark discovery.

The data was found after NASA sent two spacecraft crashing into the lunar service last month in a dramatic experiment to probe Earth's nearest neighbor for water.

One rocket slammed into the Cabeus crater, near the lunar southern pole, at around 5,600 miles (9,000 kilometers) per hour.

The impact sent a huge plume of material billowing up from the bottom of the crater, which has not seen sunlight for billions of years.

The rocket was followed four minutes later by a spacecraft equipped with cameras to record the impact.

"We are ecstatic," said Anthony Colaprete, project scientist and principal investigator for the 79-million-dollar LCROSS mission.

"Multiple lines of evidence show water was present in both the high angle vapor plume and the ejecta curtain created by the LCROSS Centaur impact.

"The concentration and distribution of water and other substances requires further analysis, but it is safe to say Cabeus holds water," Colaprete said.

Scientists had previously theorized that, except for the possibility of ice at the bottom of craters, the moon was totally dry.

Finding water on Earth's natural satellite is a major breakthrough in space exploration.

"We're unlocking the mysteries of our nearest neighbor and, by extension, the solar system," said Michael Wargo, chief lunar scientist at NASA headquarters in Washington.

"The full understanding of the LCROSS data may take some time. The data is that rich," Colaprete cautioned.

"Along with the water in Cabeus, there are hints of other intriguing substances. The permanently shadowed regions of the moon are truly cold traps, collecting and preserving material over billions of years."

Only 12 men, all Americans, have ever walked on the moon, and the last to set foot there were in 1972, at the end of the Apollo missions.

But NASA's ambitious plans to put US astronauts back on the moon by 2020 to establish manned lunar bases for further exploration to Mars under the Constellation project are increasingly in doubt.

NASA's budget is currently too small to pay for Constellation's Orion capsule, a more advanced and spacious version of the Apollo lunar module, as well as the Ares I and Ares V launchers needed to put the craft in orbit.

A key review panel appointed by President Barack Obama said existing budgets are not large enough to fund a return mission before 2020.

They find the little water left on the moon by blowing it up in the space. How ironic.

Not only is there water on the moon but whole lunar civilizations.  In the Mare Cruzium Area there are Venusian mining operations going on now as we speak.  There's also farming and vimana (flyer saucer) operations.

The moon has a 5 psi Nitrogen-Oxygen environment, Earth has a 14.7 psi environment.  The moon has 64% of Earth's gravity.  The films where you see the astronauts bouncing around up there, the films were slowed.  You walk on the moon just like you do on Earth.

When George Adamski was taken there back in 1952, he and Orthon's crew needed to go through a decompression cycle for 24 hours before stepping out on the moon.

"Completely human.." "With the exception of a single instance... all encounters were preceded by an incident on a California desert. On Nov. 20th, 1952, a witness met a strange man face-to-face in broad daylight who was described as "completely human"... the composite picture of normal sized UFO pilots seen on at least 83 occasions between 1952 and 1968 confirms the image of this class of being as described by the witness George Adamski."

"As the witness, George Adamski, thoroughly anticipated numerous, unrelated events around the world for two decades, he was either accurately describing a personal observation, or he was one of the best prophets of modern times. Other portions of his writings certainly deserve to be scrutinized for information about UFOs."

J. McCampbell, Advanced Technologies Specialist - Former NASA Contractor

Return to top of page

November 20, 1952: "As I approached him a strange feeling came upon me and I became cautious. At the same time I looked round to reassure myself that we were both in full sight of my campanions. Outwardly there was no reason for this feeling, for the man looked like any other man, and I could see that he was somewhat smaller than I and considerably younger."

"Suddenly, as though a veil was removed from my mind, the feeling of caution left me so completely that I was no longer aware of my friends... By this time we were quite close. He took four steps toward me, bringing us within arm's length of each other."

"Now for the first time I fully realized that I was in the presence of a man from space - A HUMAN BEING FROM ANOTHER WORLD! The beauty of his form surpassed anything I had ever seen. And the pleasantness of his face freed me of all thought of my personal self. I felt like a little child in the presence of one with great wisdom and much love, and I became very humble within myself ... for from him was radiating a feeling of infinite understanding and kindness, with supreme humility."

"He made me understand that their coming was friendly. Also, as he gestured, that they were concerned with the radiation going out from earth. I asked if this concern was due to the explosions of our bombs with their resultant vast radio-active clouds? He understood this readily and nodded his head in the affirmative."

These quotes from George Adamski are excerpts from: Flying Saucers Have Landed by Leslie & Adamski

"From his talk and his pointing to his feet, I felt there must be something very important there for me. And as he stepped to one side from the spot where he had been standing, I noticed strange markings from the print of his shoe left in the sand."

*December 13, 1952: "Because of the visitor's promise to return my (photographic film) plate, I was now keeping myself in a state of constant alertness." "... I was able to observe it gliding noiselessly in my direction - an iridescent glass-like craft flashing its brilliant colours in the morning sun!" "I watched the holder drop ... my only thought now was to get to the photographers ... when the (photo) finishing was done, and with witnesses present, and a print was made, there were indications of the original photo - which I had taken before the visitor took the holder - being washed off; and this was replaced by a strange photograph and a symbolic message..."

**Petroglyphs - circa. 20,000 Years Old: "I have never found Adamski to be untruthful." "I read Adamski's book (containing the symbols) before the publication of my own book and was surprised to find the same symbols, but in another order." Statement made by Marcel F. Homet regarding the ancient rock engravings/symbols he found while conducting archeological expeditions in the Amazon. Author of: Sons of the Sun. London 1963 and Die Söhne der Sonne. Wiesbaden 1972. (Flying Saucer Review)

Interpreting The Symbols - Basil van den Berg, Johannesburg, South Africa: "Prior to reading his book (Flying Saucers Have Landed) my interest in flying saucers was nil... what did arouse my interest was the amazing similarity between Mr. Adamski's photograph of a scout-ship published in his book and a strange object that trailed my bomber for three hours during the last war." "I worked for many months on the symbols, trying by every possible means to connect them in some way with a tangible solution." "I was on my guard as to whether this was a clever hoax... or really symbols given to him by beings from another planet." "I .. asked for clear prints of the symbols... and settled down to the arduous task of gleaning the information from them.." "As the years passed more information was revealed.. the method of propulsion, as well as two powerful magnetic motors, ... not yet invented on earth ... these findings have borne practical proof of Mr. Adamski's genuineness and of space craft from planets other than earth." (Flying Saucer Review)

The news must be overdrive today as the nasa moon failed and this why you can watch the video where the guy wouldn't even slap his co-workers hand cause they failed.

Annie Le update leaves us with more questions then answers.

Census worker updated was a big insurance scam according to fox news.

Ft hood update has now changed the official story of who shot and killed hasan.

hmmmm...

Nasa found a way to explain away the fail...  I guess they can change the course of a projectile in a matter of seconds and send it into a different crater that they werent even watching. And still come up with data? I hate these liars... Angry

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/science/space/article6916297.ece

No plume was visible from live images beamed back to Earth and during the first few hours there was widespread confusion over whether the mission had been a total failure. Nasa subsequently announced that, although the plume wasn’t as high as expected, enough dust had been kicked up and data had been obtained.

The smaller plume was in part due to a last-minute change of target for the impact. Originally, the crash was due to occur at the Cabeaus A crater, which is significantly shallower than Cabeaus, so the plume would have been more easily visible.

I seen the above and agree they lie like crazy. A better question would be how could they miss all the water from the previous landings?

I'm very well aware of the theories on the moon.

The good ones, the retarded ones, and the plausible ones.

Say you write all the theories and their reasons on a board its rather amazing what you can cross out and see what is plausible cause we don't know but have evidence of other things similar or we have been lied to by omission.

If the omission has been to protect society from figuring out a Real Truth that would cause a great amount of global social and knowledge change, you can somewhat understand why they would want to keep that under wraps and a control before they get their infrastructure to deal with the change in place.

If they found ruins on the moon.
That is ushering in a Golden Age Renaissance of Science and Knowledge and a goal for our species to find out more or we go to war fighting over what is up there.

Water on the moon was something they just couldn't hold back because no doubt we could find water (created by solar wind friction...ya that is the NASA reason) on other moons in the solar system as well...or is there something more special about our moon...

It shuts up the scientist asking "we know, india knows, russia knows, esa knows there is water there why am I not being about to publish my work cause of national security?"
