Since the focus of Alex's so-far-controversial "BIG NEWS" this week seems to center on actor Charlie Sheen, I thought it might be a fun distraction to revisit four of the actor's greatest roles he played back in the 1980s. I truly enjoyed each of these films when I was growing up.
Red Dawn (1984)
As a teenage footballer, he waged guerrilla warfare against invading Soviet troops under the banner of "Wolverines!" Here he is holding a rifle and wearing a high school letterman jacket that he recently gave to Alex.
Platoon (1986)
As a young and naive college dropout, he volunteers for combat in Vietnam and soon realizes he is fighting two battles--the conflict with the enemy and the conflict between the men within his platoon. This film was directed by Oliver Stone and won 4 oscars.
Wall Street (1987)
In another Oliver Stone classic, he plays young and impatient stockbroker Bud Fox (classic name!) who is willing to do anything to get the top, including trading on illegal inside information taken through a ruthless and greedy corporate raider who takes him under his wing. Spoiler alert: he does the right thing in the end by taking down Gordon "greed is good" Gekko.
Major League (1989)
As Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughan, he plays the role of a truly wild and dangerous relief pitcher on a team of misfits and losers who get their act together and start winning games. Did you ever notice the skull and bones located on his eyeglass rims before?

Since acting in these films, its been quite a ride for Charlie. He's lived through addictions to both drugs and hookers, then had to deal with a nasty and very public divorce. But now he's become one of the most successful tv sitcom actors of our time, as well as one of the most courageous Hollywood actors in speaking on 9-11 truth.
Although today probably didn't turn out as well as he had planned (I blame Alex for overhyping then not initially including the disclaimer, not Charlie), that "letter" he put together was OUTSTANDING! Let's try and rally around the guy tomorrow, shall we. He's definitely on our side, not the NWO's.
