Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Planner

 

Salary: Salary range is $50,000 - 56,000 and is commensurate with education and

                experience.​

 

Organizational Unit:  Public Health Preparedness Program, Division of Disease Control, and Philadelphia Department of Public Health

 

Residency Requirements:  The City of Philadelphia residency requirements have been waived for this position.​

 

Length of Assignment:  This is a temporary position scheduled to end on

          July 30, 2010.​

 

Position Description:

This position is required to plan and coordinate pandemic influenza preparedness activities for the Department.​ The Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Planner will support planning and response activities pertaining to H1N1 influenza (Swine flu) vaccine distribution including planning, logistics, training, and tracking.​ This position will develop the antiviral and PPE distribution plan for the City.​ The Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Planner will support other Division activities pertaining to seasonal, pandemic, and novel H1N1 influenza management and preparedness activities including trainings and exercises.​  This position will be responsible for writing a complex citywide plan that guides activities for multiple governmental and external agencies.​

 

Specific Activities:

The Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Planner will accomplish the following:

 

    * Develop and update existing public health plans for pandemic influenza management for a variety of disease severities according to index scale.​
    * Identify and enroll healthcare sites as venues for distribution of H1N1 influenza vaccine.​
    * Develop and write antiviral distribution strategy based on various pandemic severity indices.​
    * Complete pandemic influenza guidance for businesses, hospitals, and other populations.​
    * Organize meetings involving multiple stakeholders to advise planning, coordinate activities, and solicit feedback.​
    * Develop Continuity of Operations plans and training for the DDC and the Department of Public Health, as appropriate.​
    * Attend local, regional, state and national preparedness meetings.​
    * Ensure that Disease Control plans and activities pertaining to influenza are consistent with other local, state and federal response plans, and with appropriate local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.​

Required Qualifications

 

·        A master’s degree in public health or public administration or related field, with preferred emphasis on infectious disease epidemiology, or infection control or other relevant field from an accredited college or university.​

·        The position requires a minimum of one-year experience in public health or infection control practice with activities in planning, training and education, or inventory management.​

·         Applicants should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and website software, as well as an interest in information technology and desire to learn new, custom applications developed for DDC programs.​

·         The position requires attention to detail, excellent communications and organizational skills, and the ability to organize and present information effectively.​  Desktop publishing, page layout or graphic design skills ar
