The hijackers of a cargo ship that disappeared off the coast of France threatened to blow it up if their ransom demands were not met, Russian news agencies said.

Russia has arrested eight people on suspicion of hijacking the Arctic Sea off the Swedish coast and sailing it to the Atlantic Ocean, ending weeks of silence about the fate of a ship which has intrigued European maritime authorities.

Limited information from Russian officials has failed to satisfy sceptics who voiced doubts about whether the piracy actually took place or was a convenient cover story to conceal a possible secret cargo of arms or nuclear material.

"The crew members have already confirmed that the captors demanded a ransom and threatened to blow up the vessel if their orders were not obeyed," Interfax quoted a Russian defence ministry spokesman as saying.

"The crew members also claim that the people who seized the Arctic Sea were armed and got rid of their weapons when the [Russian navy ship] Ladny ordered the dry cargo carrier's crew to stop the vessel," he said.

Climbing gear, flares and a high-speed inflatable boat supposedly used in the hijack were found aboard the Arctic Sea, the spokesman said.

The agencies did not say what ransom was demanded.

The Maltese-registered, Russian-crewed vessel and its $1.3 million cargo of timber disappeared from radar screens three weeks ago, prompting speculation ranging from an attack by an organised crime gang to a top-secret spy mission.

The Malta Maritime Authority said on Tuesday, without elaborating, that the Arctic Sea had "never really disappeared", a comment which increased speculation that security services might have been involved in the affair.

Russia has said the eight detainees were citizens of Estonia, Latvia and Russia who on July 24 boarded the ship, forced the crew to change route and turned off its navigation equipment.

After heading through the English Channel in late July, radio contact was lost and the 4,000-tonne ship did not deliver its cargo to the Algerian port of Bejaia on August 4.

The Russian navy found the missing ship on Monday in the Atlantic Ocean near Cape Verde.

The official version of events was questioned by Yulia Latynina, a leading Russian opposition journalist and commentator.

"The Arctic Sea was carrying something, not timber and not from Finland, that necessitated some major work on the ship," she wrote in the Moscow Times newspaper on Wednesday.

During two weeks of repair works in the Russian port of Kaliningrad just before the voyage, the ship's bulkhead was dismantled so something very large could be loaded, she wrote.

"To put it plainly: The Arctic Sea was carrying some sort of anti-aircraft or nuclear contraption intended for a nice, peaceful country like Syria, and they were caught with it," she said

Radiation tests were carried out at the port of Pietarsaari in western Finland, where the Maltese-flagged ship Arctic Sea started its voyage.

The nuclear option is the only terror scenario that will truly get the attention of the American public.

9/11 was shocking and has led to some of the most oppressive and totalitarian policies in history.
But the power of the nuke to obliterate cities and psychologically empower or destroy nations cannot be underestimated.

It is of my opinion that many of these elites have been denied the nuclear option for some time.

Perhaps the grand chessboard has too many pieces.

Well if Obama wants to continue his wars and pose as some kind of savior, I don't see anything short of a Nuke being able to accomplish that.

Swine flu ain't going to get us riled up for war I know that, they need something else.  They need a terror attack.

What I'm wondering is how they are going to pin ??/??/09 on both Al' CIAda and the white malitia members.

I guess that's where the white al quada comes into the picture.

But is anyone going to actually buy that???

White Al'Quada? Seriously????  Come on folks....thats redonkulous.

If they set off a nuke in a city, I'm going to know exactly who did it.

CNN's Hatchet Job on Scott Ritter
http://www.commondreams.org/views02/0912-02.htm
Media smear ex-Marine for seeking answers on Iraq
Published on Thursday, September 12, 2002 in the Toronto Star by Antonia Zerbisias

To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. -- Theodore Roosevelt

OF COURSE it was just coincidental that, on Sunday, as CNN was discrediting former United Nations weapons' inspector Scott Ritter, it was running promos for the remake of Four Feathers, A.E.W. Mason's tale of the coward who would not go to war.

By Monday, professional hairdo Paula Zahn told viewers Ritter had "drunk Saddam Hussein's Kool-Aid."

Ritter, who had that day urged Iraq's National Assembly to let in weapons inspectors or face annihilation, is no chicken hawk. After his 12-year turn as a U.S. Marine intelligence officer, he faced down Saddam Hussein's goons as chief inspector of the United Nations Special Commission to disarm Iraq (UNSCOM). In 1998, he quit in protest over differences between what Washington wanted and what Iraq allowed.

Ever since, he has been very vocal about what really led to UNSCOM's failure to complete its mission — a failure Ritter largely blames on Washington — and how weapons' inspectors must be allowed back in to avert what will certainly be a brutal, bloody war. He insists that, if the Bush administration has evidence showing that Saddam is building nukes, then the American people have a right to see it before they sacrifice their lives.

So, naturally, CNN talking head Miles O'Brien on Sunday questioned Ritter on his loyalty.

"As an American citizen, I have an obligation to speak out when I feel my government is acting in a manner, which is inconsistent with the — with the principles of our founding fathers," said Ritter. "It's the most patriotic thing I can do."

Not in this climate. Not when there's the ironically named U.S.A. Patriot Act which abrogates civil rights. Not when those who criticize the administration are considered to be "with the terrorists." Not when the U.S. media let President George Bush's advisers — who, with the exception of Secretary of State Colin Powell, have never served their country as Ritter has — gallop all over the airwaves.

You couldn't flip a channel on Sunday without catching one of the Bush bunch, including wife Laura, Powell, vice-president Dick Cheney, Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and National Security adviser Condoleeza Rice, promoting an attack on Iraq as if they were actors flogging their latest project on Leno and Letterman.

Certainly, the line of questioning was no more tough. Nowhere was any of them asked seriously, if at all, about such trivia as the costs of a war, or what, if anything, is known about connections between Al Qaeda and Saddam, or what proof there is that Iraq has the ability to make and deliver nuclear weapons, or why that country as opposed to others, or what oil has to do with it, or how Cheney justifies his former business dealings with the regime he now so desperately wants to change ...

Still the demonization of Ritter continued.

First CNN had on its own news chief, Eason Jordan, who had just returned from Baghdad where he was bagging the rights to cover the war. (Imagine the ratings!) He dismissed Ritter with a "Well, Scott Ritter's chameleon-like behaviour has really bewildered a lot of people..." and a "Well, U.S. officials no longer give Scott Ritter much credibility..."

The network followed up with more interviews vilifying Ritter, neither of which cut to the heart of the matter: Why declare war? On what grounds? At what cost? Ritter was characterized as "misguided," "disloyal" and "an apologist for and a defender of Saddam Hussein."

By Monday, professional hairdo Paula Zahn told viewers Ritter had "drunk Saddam Hussein's Kool-Aid."

Over on MSNBC, Curtis & Kuby co-host Curtis Sliwa compared him to "a sock puppet" who "oughta turn in his passport for an Iraqi one." But the nadir came later on CNN when makeup job Kyra Phillips interrogated him, implying that he was being paid by Iraq —and all but calling him a quisling.

"Ha! Excuse me; I went to war against Saddam Hussein in 1991. I spent seven years of my life in this country hunting down weapons of mass destruction. I believe I've done a0 lot about Saddam Hussein," he replied. "You show me where Saddam Hussein can be substantiated as a threat against the United States and I'll go to war again. I'm not going to sit back idly and let anybody threaten the United States. But at this point in time, no one has made a case based upon facts that Saddam Hussein or his government is a threat to the United States worthy of war."

Maybe today, in his speech to the United Nations, Bush will make that case.

Maybe not.

Whatever happens, the list of cowards and traitors here won't include...

 Scott Ritter.

Jericho / Operation BlackJack

I have a feeling that the whole Operation Blackjack thing was more than some editor hack trying to scare people with a real time psy-ops, but I still do not know what specifically.  Nevertheless, when the NWO goes for the grand finale, I doubt if they will give us a hexadecimal code warning in the newspaper.

Also, since Brzezinski is in the title of this article, did you see his latest article (from NY Times earlier this week) where he said that NATO needs to be the hub for global security?

Tarpley has been warning about this for 2 years.

He has exposed that Brzezinski wants to restart to cold war to put a lock down on entire regions of the planet.  So this situation falls right in line with what Tarpley has been explaining.

Thanks for posting his articles, definitley need to keep an eye on his rhetoric. Blackjack obviously was a huge psyops campaign with many intentions. Mostly to track the distribution of information and an account of what would happen should a "rogue" infowarrior attempt to warn the public concerning various nefarious plans.

The actual scenarios in Blackjack were intended to have people drop all conscious thought about liberty and oppression and instead delve into completely wild goose chases.

The intention was to see if people could be worn down with ghost mazes of fake threats involving complicated and nonsensical scenarios that would couse panic, infighting, and obsessive investigations into these falsities.

There are so many actual scenarios explained by webster tarpley, stubblebine, aj, ventura, scott ritter, seymore hersh, ron paul, peter schiff, Russell Blaylock, and max keiser that are based in reality.

well I just showed you the 40 page thread, all the information about psyops and effects based operations are in there. Pay close attention to the hundreds of pages of declassified information that explain the methods of running these disinfo campaigns. Also pay attention to the information about the tactics to use "storytelling" and cartoons to run an effective campaign. Also read Sun Tzu and see how a very good tactic in any war including info-wars is to depleat the enemies will and morale by leading them into fake battles.

What does that mean ... "a nice, peaceful country like Syria"? Is the writer being facetious ... implying that they are not a peaceful country? She is saying Russia was sending illegal nukes there? Or anti-aircraft equipment? Sounds a little shaky to me.

Eight held but mystery grows over hijacked ship Arctic Sea
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/aug/18/arctic-sea-hijacked-ship-russia
Caroline Davies and Tom Parfitt in Moscow
Tuesday 18 August 2009 20.42 BST

Four Estonians, two Latvians and two Russian nationals were under armed guard aboard a Russian navy warship tonight accused of having hijacked the Arctic Sea cargo ship and forcing it 2,000 miles off course towards west Africa.

But the mystery surrounding the odyssey of the 4,000-tonne vessel, which vanished from radar three weeks ago after passing through the English Channel, deepened as the hijack saga petered out with no shots fired and no resistance apparent. The Russian defence minister, Anatoly Serdyukov, called it an act of piracy, but maritime experts questioned the official account, amid claims of a cover-up.

Earlier, officials in Malta said the Malta Maritime Authority had said that the ship had never really disappeared. Maritime Security Committee representatives from Sweden, Finland and Malta had monitored the ship's movements. "The committee would like to clarify that the movements of the Arctic Sea were always known for several days, notwithstanding reports that the ship had disappeared," the authority said.

The Finnish-owned vessel, with 15 Russian crew on board, was found by the Russian Navy on Monday off the Cape Verde islands. Earlier today, Russian reports said that the eight detained, who were not crew members, had boarded the ship in the Baltic Sea off Sweden on 24 July, the day after it left the Finnish port of Jakobstad en route to Algeria, and six days before it supposedly vanished.

The "hijackers" approached the ship in a high-speed inflatable boat at 11pm, saying they had problems with their own boat. Once aboard, they forced the crew at gunpoint to follow their instructions, according to Serdyukov.

"The ship then moved on the route dictated by the hijackers towards Africa, with its communication and navigation equipment turned off."

The Russian prosecutor's office opened an investigation into "kidnapping by an organised group" as the crew were being flown back to Arkhangelsk, their home town. Previous unconfirmed reports said the crew had reported to their shipping company that they had been boarded by armed, masked men posing as drug-enforcement officers who had beaten and blindfolded them, but then left after 12 hours.

Mikhail Voitenko, one of Russia's leading anti-piracy consultants and editor of Maritime Bulletin Sovfrakht, said he had spoken overnight with some of the crew, and remained puzzled about the sequence of events. There had been intense speculation the ship was carrying a secret cargo, perhaps of drugs or arms, or even nuclear material.

"Judging by the quality of the operation, then some serious forces were involved – not commercial or bandit structures."

David Osler, industry expert for Lloyd's List in London, said: "No one buys the piracy line at all." He added that official reports that the crew, when found, were not under "armed control", added further mystery. "Everyone has been working on the theory that the crew were being coerced. If it turns out they weren't at all coerced, the story has taken another remarkable twist," he said.
And  the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren,  ye have done it unto me.

No, blackjack was MI6/Tavistock.  This situation of a nuke ship completely missing for a few days is full out NWO. The NRO would have over 5,000 hours of video from over 100 satellites, airforce recon, and all sorts of other "stuf". The asertion that it was completely missing is as absurd as 2+2=5.

Al-Qaeda pirates target UK ships

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article1093189.ece

BRITAIN’S 18,000 merchant sailors face a growing danger from pirates with links to al-Qaeda.

Attacks worldwide are up 20 per cent this year – and tourists on passenger liners are now feared to be at risk.

One of the most dangerous areas is the 1,800-mile coastline of east African country Somalia – where extremist militias with ties to Osama Bin Laden’s terror network operate

unhindered.A British skipper was seized in the area earlier this year and held hostage for 47 days by pirates demanding a £350,000 ransom.And only this week the Japanese oil tanker

Takayama came under fire from rocket-propelled grenades.Around the world in the past year, 36 vessels have been boarded, with six crew kidnapped, three killed and one missing,

presumed dead.The modern-day pirates use high-powered motor-boats, grenade launchers and machine-guns. British seamen’s union Nautilus wants the Government to review its

policy on piracy.Nautilus spokesman Andrew Linington said: “We are talking about sophisticated, organised, violent gangs, who jeopardise the lives of seafarers.“The number of

attacks and the level of violence are increasing."Sooner or later, there will be a major incident in the region.”One notorious gang with terror links calls itself the “Somalia Coastguard”.

Mr Linington said: “Intelligence indicates gangs like the Somalia Coastguard have links to al-Qaeda."Unless there is action against these thugs, it amounts to a green light for a

terrorist outrage.” Skipper Colin Darch, 70, from Appledore, Devon, told The Sun in April about his 47-day hostage ordeal at the hands of pirates off the coast of Somalia.He said: “It

was all about money."But our captors told us there were much worse pirate gangs around the Somali capital Mogadishu.“They hinted that these gangs were linked to terrorists.

"One dreads to think what would happen if a cruise ship fell into their hands.”There are also fears attacks will force up shipping companies’ insurance costs – resulting in higher food

and oil prices.
"You gotta remember, establishment, it’s just a name for evil. The monster doesn’t care whether it kills all the students or whether there’s a revolution. It’s not thinking logically, it’s out of control."

I have been in receipt of the following message on April 8,2009, from ECOTERRA International, which disseminates a periodic "Somali Marine & Coastal Monitor": "Danish owned and US-American operated MV MAERSK ALABAMA, a container ship of 14,120 gross tonnage under US-American flag with a 21 men crew of at least 20 U.S.-American nationals, who are said to be all unharmed according to the company that owns the vessel, had been sea-jacked this morning at 07h30 on the Indian Ocean off the capital of Somalia, Mogadishu and about 280 miles (450 kilometers) south-east of Eyl, a town in the northern Puntland region of Somalia. The vessel was en route to Mombasa, Kenya, when it was attacked about 500 kilometers (310 miles) off Somalia's coast, the statement issued by Maersk Line Ltd. said. The 20 unarmed crew members fought back against the four hijackers and hours later regained control of their vessel, according to second mate Ken Quinn. Quinn, sounding harried in a terse mobile phone call to CNN, said the crew had released one of the pirates they had tied up for 12 hours. But the hijackers were refusing to return Captain Richard Phillips. "Right now, they want to hold our captain for ransom and we're trying to get him back," Quinn told the US network. "He's in the ship's lifeboat," he said, explaining the four pirates had taken the lifeboat off the Maersk Alabama and that Phillips was in touch with his crew via ship's radio. "So now we're just trying to offer them whatever we can. Food. But it's not working too good." Quinn added: "We have a coalition (vessel) that will be here in three hours. So we're just trying to hold them off for three more hours and then we'll have a warship here to help us."

2. The message continues: "Quinn said that all four pirates were on the lifeboat, after sinking their own boat after they seized the container vessel. Earlier, the crew took one pirate hostage, trying to swap him for their captain, but the deal went wrong, he told the American CNN news channel. Though the ship is the sixth seized within a week in the dangerous region around Africa, Cmdr. Jane Campbell, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Navy's Bahrain-based 5th Fleet, said it was the first pirate attack "involving U.S. nationals and a U.S.-flagged vessel in recent memory." No American merchant vessel has been attacked by pirates since 1804 during the North African Barbary Wars. US President Barack Obama's chief spokesman said the White House was assessing a course of action. Press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters that officials there monitoring the incident closely. Said Gibbs: "Our top priority is the personal safety of the crew members on board." The White House offered no other immediate details about what actions it was considering. Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said there has not yet been any communications from the pirates for ransom. But he would not go into military plans. "I'm not going to speculate on any future military actions," Whitman said, when asked what the U.S. military may do. Whitman said there are still no U.S. Navy ships within view of the vessel, and instead they are still "hundreds of miles away. "The nearest U.S. Navy warship was about 300 nautical miles away at the time of the hijacking," other U.S.-American government sources said. No action has been taken so far, a spokesman for the U.S. military's 5th Fleet in Bahrain said first, according to CNN. "There is a task force present in the region to deter any type of piracy, but the challenge remains that the area is so big and it is hard to monitor all the time," 5th Fleet spokesman Lt. Nathan Christensen said. US Army Lieutenant Colonel Elizabeth Hibner, a Pentagon spokesperson, said later on Wednesday that the US Navy destroyer Bainbridge was en route to the scene. The cargo ship is directly owned and operated by a Maersk subsidiary in Norfolk, Virginia, Maersk spokesman Michael Storgaard said. "We have very strict policies on the vessel ... crews are trained to handle these types of situations," Storgaard said from Maersk's headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark."

3. The message further adds: '5th Fleet spokesman Lt. Nathan Christensen said U.S.-flagged ships are not normally escorted by the military, unless they request it from the U.S. Navy. The 155-metre (511-foot) vessel had been due to dock in the Kenyan port of Mombasa on April 16. The hijacked boxship is run out of the huge merchant and naval base of Norfolk by Maersk Line Ltd., a division of Denmark's A.P. Moller-Maersk Group and was carrying emergency relief to Mombasa, Kenya, when it was hijacked, said Peter Beck-Bang, spokesman for the Copenhagen-based container shipping group A.P. Moller-Maersk, but analysts wondered, since relief food is usually shipped as bulk and not by a rather expensive container-ship. Though the shipping company has had some Defense Department contracts it was said this time not to be on a Pentagon job when attacked, a governmental statement read. The high seas standoff drew an expression of concern from Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, who called on the world to unite to "end the scourge of piracy". "

4. The message clarifies that the information contained in it came from "own sources, AFP, AP, Al-Jazeera, Pentagon, White House et al". An earlier message of April 6,2009, from ECOTERRA INTERNATIONAL had said: "With the latest captures and releases now, still at least 17 (18 with an unnamed sole Barge which drifted ashore) foreign vessels with a total of not less than 297 crew members accounted for (of which 110 are confirmed to be Filipinos) are held in Somali waters and are monitored on our actual case-list, while several other cases of ships, which were observed off the coast of Somalia and have been reported or had reportedly disappeared without trace or information, are still being followed. Over 134 incidents (including attempted attacks, averted attacks and successful sea-jackings) have been recorded for 2008 with 49 fully documented, factual sea-jacking cases (for Somalia, incl. presently held ones) and the mistaken sinking of one vessel by a naval force. For 2009 the account stands at 52 averted or abandoned attacks and 14 sea-jackings on the Somali/Yemeni pirate side as well as one wrongful attack by friendly fire on the side of the naval forces. Mystery pirate mother-vessels Athena/Arena and Burum Ocean as well as not fully documented cases of absconded vessels are not listed in the sea-jack count until clarification. Several other vessels with unclear fate (also not in the actual count), who were reported missing over the last ten years in this area, are still kept on our watch-list, though in some cases it is presumed that they sunk due to bad weather or being unfit to sail. In the last four years, 22 missing ships have been traced back with different names, flags and superstructures. "

5. Despite the deployment of anti-piracy patrols from a number of countries including India, China and Japan, the Somali pirates continue to operate with virtual impunity and have been collecting millions of dollars in ransom money. The vast area involved, the inability of the international community----due to legal and operational reasons---to undertake land-based operations against the pirates in Somalian territory and the suspected (by me) lack of co-ordination among anti-piracy patrols from different countries have come in the way of effective and deterrent action against the pirates, who are becoming more and more audacious and innovative.

6. A number of questions remain unanswered: Are different pirate groups operating autonomously of each other or is there a common command and control? Who are the leaders of the different pirate groups and where are they based? Apart from the pirates themselves and their leaders, are there any other beneficiaries of the ransom money? Since Al Qaeda has been very active in Somalia for over a decade, does it have any links with the pirates and is it financially benefiting from the ransom payments?

7. The possibility of links between Al Qaeda and at least some of the pirate groups needs to be taken seriously. Ever since 9/11, Al Qaeda has been wanting to organise a major act of maritime terrorism to disrupt word trade and movement of energy supplies. Many of these pirates----if well-trained and well-motivated by Al Qaeda---- could provide a new source of oxygen to it. The time has come to treat the campaign against the Somali pirates as seriously as the campaign against Al Qaeda.

Could Al Qaeda Infiltrate Somali Pirates?

http://www.newsweek.com/id/46549

American sailors patrolling off the coast of Somalia are accustomed to chasing down pirates but Cmdr. Robert Randall had never seen this before. While pursuing three dinghies last month about 25 nautical miles off the African shoreline, members of his crew noticed Somali suspects waving not just their signature AK-47 assault rifles but also loaded RPGs—shoulder-fired rockets that insurgents across the world have used to blow up tanks and helicopters (including two U.S. Black Hawks in Somalia in 1993).

Randall is the commanding officer of the USS Gonzalez, an 8,000-ton destroyer with a crew of about 240. The rifles threatened sailors he’d dispatched in inflatable speedboats to engage the suspects. But if the assailants moved closer, the RPGs could have posed a danger to his ship. “As soon as [my sailors] saw the RPGs, they radioed back, and I told them to scram to the east,” the 45-year-old officer tells NEWSWEEK by phone from his ship. Turning the vessel toward the suspects, he ordered the largest guns on his port side to open fire. In seconds, leaking gas from one of the Somali boats exploded, causing a fireball to rise up over the water and sending the suspects diving into the sea. One of them died in the exchange, which also involved a U.S. Navy cruiser. Twelve others were pulled from the water and are in U.S. custody at sea. Piracy off the coast of Somalia, a country that for 15 years had no central government and no internal law enforcement, is soaring. In the past 12 months, Somali bandits have held up 36 merchant ships (compared to two in the previous year), forcing many of them to shore and holding crew and vessels ransom for hundreds of thousands of dollars. The hijackings have forced vessels to take wide detours at a cost of millions and have disrupted many of the humanitarian shipments to Somalia, which is suffering this year from the worst drought in a decade. But Navy officials worry about an even more alarming scenario: that Al Qaeda cells operating in Somalia might get involved in the piracy, hijack a ship and use it to ram another vessel. “You don’t want [terrorists] to do anything out there that may support their efforts, whether it’s making money, holding hostages or taking another vessel and using it as a weapon,” says Cmdr. Jeff Breslau, a spokesman for the U.S. Fifth Fleet based in Bahrain. The collision scenario could exact a heavy toll. When Al Qaeda suicide bombers smashed a small boat into the USS Cole in 2000 in the Yemeni port of Aden, 17 sailors died. Pottengal Mukundan, who tracks piracy from his office at the International Maritime Bureau in London, says Somali gunmen regularly commandeer much larger vessels, including cargo ships and bulk carriers. Security officials also worry about the economic consequences of a vessel being rammed into a key port and disrupting international trade. But most troubling for U.S. officials is the prospect of terrorists hijacking a supertanker transporting extreme flammables like liquefied natural gas (LNG) and blowing it up close to shore. Eben Kaplan, who authored a recent study on LNG for the Web site of the Council on Foreign Relations, says the gas requires very specific conditions to explode—a precise vapor mix when it leaks from a ship. But if the conditions are met near a population center, the explosion could kill many thousands. “It has the potential to be a very serious weapon,” Kaplan says. It also makes for good drama: an attack on a ship transporting LNG was fictionalized in the closing scene of the George Clooney film “Syriana.” Some of the recent hijackings are also the stuff of Hollywood movies. Juma Mvita, a Tanzanian engineer, spent 101 days as a captive of Somali pirates last year. Mvita was part of a crew transporting food aid—850 tons of rice donated by Japan—to the Somali port of Bossasso last July. Pirates who hijacked his vessel initially kept it anchored two miles off shore, with 25 gunmen on constant guard, but the ship and crew were later moved, and both were used to hijack two other ships. Mvita says the United Nations’ World Food Program, loathe to encourage more hijackings, refused to negotiate a ransom payment. Eventually the aid organization agreed for the rice to be sold to a Somali businessman and for the money—$200,000—to go to the pirates. In the long ordeal, Mvita says, pirates and warlords, businessmen and gunrunners were almost indistinguishable, a reflection of the chaos in Somalia that, for U.S. officials, must fuel concerns of Al Qaeda pressing its way into the mix.

The Obama administration is depicting Somalia as an African Afghanistan, and setting up the homegrown Islamist Shabab as a Taliban. Secretary of State Clinton deployed language identical to George Bush's to justify U.S. military intervention in Somalia, and made bellicose threats against neighboring Eritrea.

Clinton Threatens War in Horn of Africa

A Black Agenda Radio commentary by Glen Ford

“The U.S. is preparing military intervention in Somalia.”

Hillary Clinton has confirmed that the Obama administration is bent on pursuing the same “war on terror” and regime-change strategy in the Horn of Africa as its predecessor. Having made George Bush’s wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan his own, President Obama dispatched his Secretary of State to draw battle lines in Somalia and to threaten the neighboring nation of Eritrea.

Clinton depicted Somalia as the Afghanistan of Africa, and Al Shabab, the Islamist enemies of America’s pitiful little puppet regime in Somalia, as the Taliban. Clinton’s words could have been written by any of George Bush’s speechwriters. “If Al Shabab were to obtain a haven in Somalia which could then attract Al Qaeda and other terrorist actors,” she said, “it would be a threat to the United States.”

That’s George Bush war talk, pure and simple. Bush used exactly the same argument to justify the joint U.S.-Ethiopian invasion of Somalia in 2006, to overthrow Islamists who had established the first relative peace Somalia had known in 15 years. The invasion led to the worst humanitarian crisis in Africa at that time, and ignited a fierce resistance to foreign aggression, with Al Shabab in the forefront.

No one but the United States and its flunkies claims that Al Shabab is anything but homegrown. But Washington needs to manufacture a Somali Taliban to justify its own crimes.

“Clinton’s words could have been written by any of George Bush’s speechwriters.”

Washington’s puny allies control only a few blocks of the capital city, Mogadishu, and would have been crushed were it not for the presence of several thousand Ugandan soldiers, who have been accused of indiscriminately killing Somali civilians. The puppet regime begged the U.S., Ethiopia, Kenya, Yemen – anybody! – to once again invade Somalia. Washington sent its puppets 80 tons of weapons and ammunition but, with no popular support, that won’t save them. So Hillary Clinton last week set the stage for stepped up U.S. military action against Somalia and elsewhere in the Horn of Africa.

Clinton is cloaking the planned aggression as a rescue mission on behalf of the Somali people – the same people who were displaced and starved by the millions after the 2006 invasion. She summoned the head puppet, Sheik Sharif, to Kenya, where he stood on the stage with a big grin on his face as the Great White Mother promised to smash his enemies. Hillary made U.S. intentions in Somalia perfectly clear. “We need to be there,” she said, “to help them deliver the results of the stability to the people of Somalia, who have suffered for so long.”

“We need to be there.” The Secretary of State was sending the loudest possible signal that the U.S. is preparing military intervention in Somalia, to save Sheik Sharif’s puppet regime. Then Clinton rattled her sabers at Somalia’s neighbor, Eritrea, which she claimed supports Al Shabab. If they do not cease, said Clinton, “We intend to take action.” Those are war words, and there can be no doubt Hillary Clinton was speaking for her boss.

President Obama will soon launch a military campaign in Somalia and the entire Horn of Africa - and his war in Africa will be even bigger than George Bush’s.

Arctic Sea crew return to Russia

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8211475.stm

BBC News
Thu, 20 Aug 2009 17:17 UTC
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/8211360.stm

The crew and suspected hijackers of the Arctic Sea - the cargo ship found by Russia's navy off West Africa on Monday - have arrived in Moscow.

Members of the 15-strong Russian crew and eight suspected hijackers landed at a military airfield near Moscow.

The suspects, who were handcuffed to members of Russia's security forces, were then taken to a high-security prison, Reuters reported.

They had earlier been questioned aboard a Russian ship off Africa's coast.

The Arctic Sea was said to have gone missing on 30 July as it rounded the north-western corner of France.

Russia said its navy reached the Maltese-flagged ship on Monday, 300 miles (480 km) off Cape Verde in the Atlantic Ocean.

Multinational investigation

Speculation about what happened to the ship has included suggestions of piracy, a mafia dispute, a commercial row, smuggling or trafficking.

Correspondents say that despite the details given by Russian officials, the case is still laden with mysteries.

Carrying timber reportedly worth $1.8m (£1.1m), the 4,000-tonne Arctic Sea sailed from Finland and had been scheduled to dock in the Algerian port of Bejaia on 4 August.

Russian Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov says the hijackers attacked on 24 July.

They threatened to blow up the ship if their demand for a ransom was not met, Russian officials said.

Once on board, the hijackers threatened the crew with guns and forced them to turn off navigational and tracking equipment and sail south, the defence minister said.

Earlier reports said assailants had left the ship after 12 hours.

Moscow deployed vessels from its Atlantic fleet to find the Arctic Sea last week.

The hijackers were armed but abandoned their weapons when stopped, Russian officials say.

But the Malta Maritime Authority said the Arctic Sea had been "continuously tracked" from the moment it was reported to have been hijacked until the Russian navy said it had taken the ship on Monday.

Maritime officials in Malta, Finland and Sweden had not wanted "to jeopardise the life and safety of the persons on board and the integrity of the ship", it said.

Last weekend, a multinational investigation was launched after police in Finland said a ransom demand had been made, while emphasising that they could not confirm its authenticity.

Iran and Syria express warm fuzzies for each other

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/feedarticle/8665138

Iran's supreme leader reinforces Syria allianceDigg it
AP foreign, Wednesday August 19 2009 ALI AKBAR DAREINI

Associated Press Writer= TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran's supreme leader called his country's alliance with Syria a symbol of resistance in the Middle East on Wednesday, seeking to reinforce a key relationship as Tehran fends off continued criticism over its response to post-election unrest.

Visiting Syrian President Bashar Assad exemplified that resistance by criticizing foreign countries for provoking the massive protests that followed Iran's disputed June presidential election. His comments will likely disappoint the Obama administration, which has stepped up diplomatic efforts to pull Syria away from Iran.

"I've come here today to personally convey my warm congratulations to you and the Iranian nation," Assad was quoted by Iran's official news agency as telling President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whose re-election was seen as fraudulent by the opposition.

"I believe what happened in Iran was an important development and a great lesson to foreigners," IRNA quoted Assad as saying.

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and other influential hard-liners have attempted to paint the post-election unrest as a plot by the U.S. and other countries to topple the country's Islamic system — charges they have denied.

Khamenei sought to play up fears of the U.S. in talks with Assad, telling the president that "Syria's most important characteristic among Arab countries is its resistance, and that is the reason behind America's animosity," according to IRNA.

Syria is Iran's closest Arab ally, and Tehran is keen on preventing Damascus from migrating closer to the West. Continued Syrian support is especially critical as domestic and international criticism continues over Iran's violent crackdown on opposition supporters following the election.

Much of the international attention surrounding Assad's two-day visit focused on whether he would lobby for the release of Clotilde Reiss, a French academic on trial with more than 100 politicians, journalists and activists accused of trying to engineer a "velvet revolution" to overthrow the Islamic leadership.

Reiss was released last week on bail, but judicial authorities have barred her from leaving the country.

France last week thanked Syria for helping win the release from jail of a French-Iranian employee of the French embassy in Tehran, who is also in the same mass trial. France has long had close ties with Syria, a former colony.

Releasing the French academic could be seen by Iran's leadership as a chance to win some international goodwill after facing allegations of torture and other abuses against demonstrators.

One of the pro-reform challengers in the June 12 vote, Mahdi Karroubi, issued a letter to Parliamentary Speaker Ali Larijani saying he was prepared to meet with top officials, including Ahmadinejad, to present evidence that some protesters were raped in custody. The letter was posted on his party's Web site.

Karroubi, a former parliament speaker himself, has said he has received reports of rapes from detainees released from jail as well as from former military commanders and other senior officials.

But Larijani has rejected Karroubi's claims, and other hard-liners have called for the arrest and trial of Karroubi for making the allegations.

Karroubi slammed Larijani's speedy denial, saying no probe could have been completed that fast. He has also vowed he won't remain silent over the "medieval torture and corruption" in Iran's prisons.

Some conservatives have also demanded a full investigation, leading to splits in Ahmadinejad's base of support.

"I demand from you to hold a meeting ... so that I can personally present my documents and evidence on cases of sexual abuse in some prisons," Karroubi said in the letter.

On Monday, Iran's prosecutor general ordered the closure of the pro-reform newspaper Etemad-e-Melli after it ran articles on Karroubi's rape allegations. Karroubi heads the political party that runs the newspaper. The prosecutor gave no word on the length of the closure.

So this ship goes missing without the NRO being involved?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey look at this 33 (for you numerologists's : ) ) page report titled:
http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB35/11-01.htm
Analysis of "A $1.5 Billion Secret in Sky" Washington Post, December 9, 1973
Not dated
Top Secret
33 pp.
Throughout the 1960s, the United States operation of reconnaissance satellites was officially classified, but well known among specialists and the press.  However, it was not until January 1971 that the NRO's existence was first disclosed by the media, when it was briefly mentioned in a New York Times article on intelligence and foreign policy.
    A much more extensive discussion of the NRO appeared in the December 9, 1973 Washington Post as a result of the inadvertent mention of the reconnaissance office in a Congressional report.  The NRO prepared this set of classified responses to the article, clearly intended for those in Congress who might be concerned about the article's purported revelations about the NRO's cost overruns and avoidance of Congressional oversight.
And I love their information that is still classified (why even release this page?)
Another testing ground for space based weapons?
AFRICOM built by Bush for over $800 Million must be getting cobwebs.
Part 2 of this analysis: why we are in the iraq war, deals with the excuse for testing space weapons:
Another key reason for the war was to test out the new “integrated” war fighting capability that advances in space technology provide. “We talk about Desert Storm being the first ‘space war,’ but I’d call this the first real space war – where we have truly integrated ‘space’ throughout the battle space, in ways we’ve never been able to do before,” says Brig. Gen Larry Jones, commander of the 50th Space Wing at Schriever AFB. Colorado.
Never before had space systems been used so widely and continuously for combat support in a war. Hundreds of soldiers sat at computer monitors and giant screens showing every ship, tank and aircraft in the Iraqi theater. Over 50 satellites, controlled primarily out of Colorado Springs and Denver, orchestrated the entire battle.
The Air Force’s Milstar satellite system was instrumental in controlling the Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), directing the Navy Tomahawk cruise missiles to their targets, and coordinating clandestine communications for Special Forces on the ground. Overall, there were more than 1,000 inter-operable Milstar computer terminals being used, many of them in Iraq. “Fighting units…are starting to coalesce around these capabilities. As they exploit all the capacity we have in space systems, the incremental gain in combat effectiveness is huge,” says one U.S. Iraq war commander.
Like the 1991 Persian Gulf war, this current Iraq war allowed for the real-time testing of new weapons systems. The super-secret Lockheed Martin Skunk Works in California built and tested a new UAV called DarkStar. The super stealthy pilot-less plane gave the U.S. the capability to “dwell” over a target area for several hours at a time.
Pentagon analysts are already digesting all available information about how their weapons systems performed in anticipation of the “next space war.” As in the first Persian Gulf War, a controversy has erupted concerning the performance of the Patriot air defense system – part of Theatre Missile Defense (TMD). Patriot battery crews shot down two planes during the height of the war – one American Navy F-18 and a British Air Force Tornado. The response of the House of Representatives in Washington was to give the Pentagon even more money for Patriot research and development!
Waging War in Space
Presentation at Annual Conference of Consortium on Peace Research
Education & Development Association and Peace Studies Association
University of Texas at Austin
April 1, 2000
By Karl Grossman
The U.S. military is seeking to turn space into new arena of war.
It wants to "control space," to "dominate" space and from it the Earth below-and "control" and "dominate" are words used repeatedly in U.S. military documents-samples of which are attached here. The U.S. military, further, would like to base weapons in space.
There is only a narrow window to stop these plans from going forward and preventing what inevitably would follow: other nations will meet the U.S. in kind and there will be an arms race and ultimately war in space.
The plans are explicitly laid out in documents including the Vision For 2020 report of the U.S. Space Command. The U.S. Space Command "coordinates the use of Army, Naval and Air Force Space Forces" and was set up by the Pentagon to "help institutionalize the use of space," notes its web site www.spacecom.af.mil.
The multi-colored cover of Vision For 2020 depicts a laser weapon shooting a beam down from space zapping a target below.
The 1996 report then proclaims in wording laid out like in the start of the Star Wars movies: "US Space Command-dominating the space dimension of military operations to protect US interests and investment. Integrating Space Forces into warfighting capabilities across the full spectrum of conflict."
The US Space Command Vision
Vision For 2020 compares the U.S. effort to control space and the Earth below to how centuries ago "nations built navies to protect and enhance their commercial interests" by ruling the seas.
Vision For 2020 also considers the global economy-of which the U.S. is the locomotive. "The globalization of the world economy will also continue, with a widening between 'haves' and 'have-nots,'" says the U.S. Space Command in Vision For 2020.
The view apparently is that by controlling space and the Earth below, the U.S. will be able to keep those "have-nots" in line.
The U.S. military not only acknowledges-it proudly points to-U.S. corporate interests being involved in helping set U.S. space military doctrine.
As the Long Range Plan of the U.S. Space Command starts out: "The Long Range Plan has been US Space Command's #1 priority for the past 11 months, investing nearly 20 man-years to make it a reality. The development and production process, by design, involved hundreds of people including about 75 corporations."
The US Space Command Long Range Plan
The 1998 Long Range Plan goes on to list those 75 corporations-beginning with Aerojet and going through Battelle and Lockheed Martin and Rand to TRW and Vista Technologies.
Guardians of the High Frontier, a 1997 Air Force Space Command report, declares that: "Space is the ultimate `high ground.'" The Air Force Space Command is committed to "the control and exploitation of space," it says.
A Space Command motto: "Master of Space." That pretty well sums up the U.S. military attitude toward space.
Master of Space
As General Joseph Ashy, then commander-in-chief of the U.S. Space Command, told Aviation Week & Space Technology (August 5, 1996): "It's politically sensitive, but it's going to happen. Some people don't want to hear this, and it sure isn't in vogue, but-absolutely-we're going to fight in space. We're going to fight from space and we're going to fight into space….That's why the U.S. has development programs in directed energy and hit-to-kill mechanisms."
General Ashy spoke of "space control," the U.S. military's term for control of space, and "space force application," its definition of control of Earth from space. Said General Ashy: "We'll expand into these two missions because they will become increasingly important. We will engage terrestrial targets someday-ships, airplanes, land targets-from space. We will engage targets in space, from space."
This is far more than reports and rhetoric. A multi-million dollar contract was signed in 1998 for a "Space-Based Laser Readiness Demonstrator." The military's poster for this laser shows it firing its ray in space while an American flag somehow waves in space above it.
Space based laser system
Billions of dollars a year are going annually into what is now called U.S. Ballistic Missile Defense, renamed from Strategic Defense Initiative, the "Star Wars" program under Reagan and Bush. Missile defense? In context, what the U.S. military appears to want is in large part not defense but offense.
Annual BMD expenditure 1985-1999 (from BMDO website)
"With regard to space dominance, we have it, we like it, and we're going to keep it," Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Air Force for Space Keith Hall, who is also director of the National Reconnaissance Office, told the National Space Club in 1997.
In Congress, there is now consideration of breaking up the U.S. Air Force and creating a U.S. Space Force. The U.S., says U.S. Senator Bob Smith, a New Hampshire Republican, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee's Strategic Subcommittee, must have "space supremacy."
A 13-member Congressional panel-being called the Commission to Assess U.S. National Security Space Management and Organization-is being formed to look at all aspects of how a new U.S. Space Force would operate.
Because of the U.S. military's plans for space, a vote was called this past November 1 in the United Nations General Assembly to reaffirm the Outer Space Treaty and, specifically, its provision that space shall be set aside "for peaceful purposes."
Some 138 nations voted for the motion titled: "Prevention of an Arms Race in Outer Space." The United States and Israel abstained.
UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan declared at the opening in January last year of the UN Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, Switzerland that space must be maintained "as a weapons-free environment."
Said Wang Xiaoyu, First Secretary of the Delegation of China, at a seminar at the UN in Geneva last March on "Prevention of an Arms Race in Outer Space"-which I keynoted- organized by the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom:
"Outer space is the common heritage of human beings. It should be used entirely for peaceful purposes and for the economic, scientific, and cultural development of all countries as well as the well-being of mankind. It must not be weaponized and become another arena of the arms race."
The following day, at the UN Conference on Disarmament, Li Changhe, Ambassador for Disarmament Affairs of China, formally proposed "an international legal instrument banning the test, deployment and use of any weapons, weapon system and their components in outer space, with a view to preventing the weaponization of outer space."
China received wide support from other nations on the motion.
But the U.S. has been blocking movement on the motion ever since.
Craig Eisendrath, a former U.S. State Department officer who helped create the Outer Space Treaty, notes that keeping space weapons-free was the original intent of the treaty. Dr. Eisendrath told a workshop I led on weapons-in-space issues at the Hague Appeal for Peace Conference in The Netherlands last June that it was in the wake of the Soviet launching of its Sputnik satellite in 1957 that the U.S. sought to "de-weaponize" space-before it got weaponized. The State Department, Eisendrath explained, used the Antarctica Treaty as a model for the Outer Space Treaty.
But the treaty ended up "just" banning "nuclear weapons or any other kinds of weapons of mass destruction" in space.
We have only a brief span of time to return to the treaty's original intent.
The Future of War: Power, Technology & American World Dominance in the 2lst Century - yes, American World Dominance in the 2lst Century - by George and Meredith Friedman is an exposition on the proposition that the U.S. can dominate the Earth for many years to come through the military control of space. "The manner in which wars are waged is undergoing a dramatic transformation, which will greatly enhance American power," states the 1997 book.
As to other countries responding to the U.S., George Friedman, in an interview (Parade, April 6, 1997), says that other nations are just "passing blips" -he specifically names Russia, Japan and China-in competing with the U.S. militarily in space.
The Future Of War concludes: "Just as by the year 1500 it was apparent that the European experience of power would be its domination of the global seas, it does not take much to see that the American experience of power will rest on the domination of space….Just as Europe expanded war and its power to the global oceans, the United States is expanding war and its power into space….Just as Europe shaped the world for half a millenium, so too the United States will shape the world for at least that length of time. For better or worse, America has seized hold of the future of war…"
Last year in Geneva, after my presentation at the workshop on "Prevention of an Arms Race in Outer Space," a high U.S. official spoke to me striking similar notes.
In the wake of the Vietnam War, "we can't field large numbers of ground troops," the U.S. official explained. This was "done for Desert Storm," but that took "nine months of a drum roll." However, the "we can project power from space," said the official, and that that is why the U.S. is moving in this way.
There are profound issues involved in U.S. plans to "control space" and from it the Earth below, I said, remarking that "my uncles didn't come to Europe" during World War II to fight for that kind of U.S. I added that in the 1980s I wrote a book on U.S. intervention in Nicaragua (Nicaragua: America's New Vietnam?) and I am not naïve about U.S. imperialistic ventures but "the U.S. seeking to control space and from it the Earth below is way beyond the Monroe Doctrine." Moreover, if the U.S. moved ahead with this, would not other nations respond and an arms race in space ensue?
The official replied that the U.S. military has done analyses and concluded that China is "30 years behind" in competing with U.S. militarily in space. And Russia "doesn't have the money." I mentioned traveling to China, seeing the technological power of that nation and I pointed to its space prowess-U.S. companies are using China for launches. If the U.S. moves to "control space" and the Earth below, to deploy weapons in space, the Chinese would be up there-in something like three, not 30 years, I suggested. And Russia might not have the rubles now, but it's a nation rich in natural resources and with enormous space abilities. A huge, potentially catastrophic miscalculation is being made, I said, heading the world to war in the heavens.
A further note: U.S. military plans for space also will likely involve the use of nuclear power as an energy source for space-based weapons.
The weapons the U.S. military is interested in deploying in space-notably lasers-will need large amounts of power and nuclear energy is seen as a power source.
As New World Vistas: Air And Space Power For The 2lst Century, a 1996 U.S. Air Force board report, states: "In the next two decades, new technologies will allow the fielding of space-based weapons of devastating effectiveness to be used to deliver energy and mass as force projection in tactical and strategic conflict…These advances will enable lasers with reasonable mass and cost to effect very many kills." But "power limitations impose restrictions" on such-based weapons systems making them "relatively unfeasible….A natural technology to enable high power," it goes on, "is nuclear power in space."
"Setting the emotional issues of nuclear power aside, this technology offers a viable alternative for large amounts of power in space," asserts New World Vistas.
The worldwide organization that is challenging U.S. military plans for space is the Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space based in Gainesville, Florida. "If the U.S. is allowed to move the arms race into space, there will be no return," says its coordinator, Bruce Gagnon.
"We have this once chance, this one moment in history," says Gagnon, "to stop the weaponization of space from happening."
The Global Network is sponsoring "Star Wars Revisited: An International Conference on Preventing an Arms Race in Space" to be held a little over two weeks from now-April 14th to 17th-in Washington, D.C.
"The people of the U.S., the people of the world," says Gagnon, "must learn about what the U.S. is up to-and stop it."
Nations should join together--as UN Secretary-General Annan said at the beginning of last year -"to codify principles which can ensure that outer space remains weapons-free."
Keep Space For Peace is the title of the four days of protest events being organized by the Global Network in Washington.
People all over the world must come together to insure that the heavens not be turned into a war zone. We must, indeed, work to keep space for peace.
Project Paperclip: Dark side of the Moon
http://www.declarepeace.org.uk/captain/murder_inc/site/spacewars.html
Sixty years ago the US hired Nazi scientists to lead pioneering projects, such as the race to conquer space. These men provided the US with cutting-edge technology which still leads the way today, but at a cost.
The end of World War II saw an intense scramble for Nazi Germany's many technological secrets. The Allies vied to plunder as much equipment and expertise as possible from the rubble of the Thousand Year Reich for themselves, while preventing others from doing the same.
The range of Germany's technical achievement astounded Allied scientific intelligence experts accompanying the invading forces in 1945.
Supersonic rockets, nerve gas, jet aircraft, guided missiles, stealth technology and hardened armour were just some of the groundbreaking technologies developed in Nazi laboratories, workshops and factories, even as Germany was losing the war.
And it was the US and the Soviet Union which, in the first days of the Cold War, found themselves in a race against time to uncover Hitler's scientific secrets.
In May 1945, Stalin's legions secured the atomic research labs at the prestigious Kaiser Wilhelm Institute in the suburbs of Berlin, giving their master the kernel of what would become the vast Soviet nuclear arsenal.
US forces removed V-2 missiles from the vast Nordhausen complex, built under the Harz Mountains in central Germany, just before the Soviets took over the factory, in what would become their area of occupation. And the team which had built the V-2, led by Wernher von Braun, also fell into American hands.
Crimes
Shortly afterwards Major-General Hugh Knerr, deputy commander of the US Air Force in Europe, wrote: "Occupation of German scientific and industrial establishments has revealed the fact that we have been alarmingly backward in many fields of research.
"If we do not take the opportunity to seize the apparatus and the brains that developed it and put the combination back to work promptly, we will remain several years behind while we attempt to cover a field already exploited."
Thus began Project Paperclip, the US operation which saw von Braun and more than 700 others spirited out of Germany from under the noses of the US's allies. Its aim was simple: "To exploit German scientists for American research and to deny these intellectual resources to the Soviet Union."
Arthur Rudolph: "100% Nazi"
Events moved rapidly. President Truman authorised Paperclip in August 1945 and, on 18 November, the first Germans reached America.
There was, though, one major problem. Truman had expressly ordered that anyone found "to have been a member of the Nazi party and more than a nominal participant in its activities, or an active supporter of Nazism militarism" would be excluded.
Under this criterion even von Braun himself, the man who masterminded the Moon shots, would have been ineligible to serve the US. A member of numerous Nazi organisations, he also held rank in the SS. His initial intelligence file described him as "a security risk".
And von Braun's associates included:
Arthur Rudolph, chief operations director at Nordhausen, where 20,000 slave labourers died producing V-2 missiles. Led the team which built the Saturn V rocket. Described as "100 per cent Nazi, dangerous type". Kurt Debus, rocket launch specialist, another SS officer. His report stated: "He should be interned as a menace to the security of the Allied Forces."
Hubertus Strughold, later called "the father of space medicine", designed Nasa's on-board life-support systems. Some of his subordinates conducted human "experiments" at Dachau and Auschwitz, where inmates were frozen and put into low-pressure chambers, often dying in the process.
All of these men were cleared to work for the US, their alleged crimes covered up and their backgrounds bleached by a military which saw winning the Cold War, and not upholding justice, as its first priority.
And the paperclip which secured their new details in their personnel files gave the whole operation its name. Sixty years on, the legacy of Paperclip remains as vital as ever.
With its radar-absorbing carbon impregnated plywood skin and swept-back single wing, the 1944 Horten Ho 229 was arguably the first stealth aircraft.
The Stealth bomber: Based on a 1944 German design
The US military made one available to Northrop Aviation, the company which would produce the $2bn B-2 Stealth bomber - to all intents and purposes a modern clone of the Horten - a generation later.
Cruise missiles are still based on the design of the V-1 missile and the scramjets powering Nasa's state-of-the-art X-43 hypersonic aircraft owe much to German jet pioneers.
Added to this, the large number of still-secret Paperclip documents has led many people, including Nick Cook, Aerospace Consultant at Jane's Defence Weekly, to speculate that the US may have developed even more advanced Nazi technology, including anti-gravity devices, a potential source of vast amounts of free energy.
Cook says that such technology "could be so destructive that it would endanger world peace and the US decided to keep it secret for a long time".
But, while celebrating the undoubted success of Project Paperclip, many will prefer to remember the thousands who died to send mankind into space. - BBC
Also note the shape of the sign - is this a flying saucer?    "[Werner] Von Braun was far more than just a "German rocket scientist" or a mere "Nazi". Documents obtained by TEM researchers show he was nothing less than a Major in Hitler's "SS", the fearsome and fanatically loyal arm of the Nazi war machine entrusted to carry out the most inhuman acts of the regime"
Former Nazi removed from Space Hall of Fame
Museum visitor complained after spotting name during tour
ALAMOGORDO, N.M. - MSNBC - A former Nazi scientist has been booted from the International Space Hall of Fame.
The New Mexico Museum of Space History's commission unanimously voted last week to remove Hubertus Strughold.
He had been inducted in 1978 for work in developing the spacesuit and space capsule, and contributions to space medicine.
But Strughold was also linked to experiments on prisoners in the Dachau concentration camp in his native Germany.
A museum visitor noticed Strughold's name in the hall last fall and told the New Mexico Anti-Defamation League - which then uncovered records on his past.
from one death cult to another - Aum Shinrikyo
Hideo Murai, the late Aum Shinrikyo science and technology minister, was one of the most intelligent Japanese who ever lived, with an IQ higher than Einstein's. He studied astrophysics, concentrating on X-ray detection. His field, it turns out, was the key to developing new types of weapons more powerful than nuclear bombs, which are still being developed and tested by Japan's military-industrial complex after his death. Murai's most outrageous claim was that Kobe was destroyed with laser-powered seismic weapons -- a claim many in the media scoffed. But a closer look at Murai's own research in Kobe shows that the possibility should not be discounted.
Info about Electromagnetic Weapon
The Russians have spacecraft called "COSMOSPHERES", which were originally built and used for "Starwars" defense. They are spherical in shape, INvisible to radar beyond about 50 miles away, atomic-powered [possibly Migma fUsion], electro-gravitic (can hover against gravity), and equipped with "Psycho-energetic Range Finding" (PRF) which tunes-in to the actual atomic signature of an object or target.
The 3rd-generation JUMBO Cosmospheres occupy more volume than the Hindenburg blimp, and are ELECTRO-MAGNETICALLY PROPELLED (can accelerate continuously and rapidly, and make it to Saturn in three WEEKS!). [Many of them are armed with charged-particle beam weapons, neutron beam weapons, and/or microwave brain-scrambling equipment!] - source
SMALL ORBS FILMED AROUND CHEMTRAILS IDENTIFIED?
In the Eye of the Galaxy
Few people around the world suspect the existence of electromagnetic weapons, and most would probably disbelieve the power, accuracy and variety of these weapons. Even the scientists and engineers at the center of the world's most powerful electronics-producing nation -- Japan -- were stunned to discover that long-range EM weapons with global reached were being secretly deployed by the superpowers. It happened by sheer accident, in February 1987.
GINGA satellite
The Japanese satellite called Ginga, or Galaxy, was launched that month in a high orbit, searching the skies for X-ray emissions from distant stars. But it also had another, secret mission -- to detect gamma radiation from Chinese underground nuclear weapons explosions at the Lop Nor test site and Soviet nuclear tests in Semipalatinsk, Kazakhstan. Such military intelligence was crucial because trans-continental air currents would carry fallout from leakage from Central Asian tests sites directly over the Japanese archipelago -- an environmental and public health nightmare.
When Ginga crossed the Equator in early June, it picked up massive staccato bursts of gamma rays, at twice the frequency of stellar sources. Astronomers linked to ground control at the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science wondered if they had found some sort of mutant quasar, but the data did not come close to any known source. Then, they realized the gamma ray discharges had come from below Ginga -- but below it there was just a vast body of water, far from any nuclear plant, cyclotron or test site. They contacted NASA, which ran a computer check on satellite orbits.
NASA replied that the probable source was a Russian spacecraft, Japanese scientists came to the chilling realization that another satellite in lower orbit was irradiating the ionosphere. Each time Ginga overflew the path of Cosmos 1900-- a craft that the Soviets claimed was an oceanic observation satellite -- the readings were the same: massive bursts of radioactivity. Accidental leakage? Not likely because Cosmos had not been launched until 10 months after Ginga, in December 1987. Therefore, Ginga had detected radiation-seeding by a predecessor satellite that burned on reentry, which was soon replaced by Cosmos. The Soviets were using a series of satellites to deliberately irradiate the Van Allen belts of the upper atmosphere. But why?
Cosmos 1900 satellite
Ring over the Equator
What satellite Ginga stumbled upon was an electromagnetic "mirror," a ionized reflector for transmission of low-frequency beams, which was a part of the Russian EMW arsenal. The electromagnetic technology has been used to alter the climate in the Northern Hemisphere to lessen the economic cost of Russia's severe winters. It is also used for advanced global communications, for anti-missile defenses and to induce earthquakes. In other words, it is extremely sophisticated and dangerous technology, wide open for abuse in the wrong hands. A similar system was patented by Bernard Eastlund, former chief of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, which forms the core of the U.S. Navy's HAARP program in Alaska. (V2, the companion article provides an overview on this technology.)
If this artificially ionized belt acts like a mirror, then electromagnetic waves sent from ground stations in the Southern Hemisphere would be reflected back to a roughly equal longitude and a roughly equidistant latitude in the Northern Hemisphere, and vice versa. For example, to change the weather patterns on the steppes of Kazaldistan (Nikita Khruschev's hare-brained scheme was to grow wheat there; after initial failures, it is now one of the world's top breadbaskets, thanks to milder weather), one would have to place a EM transmitter in the vicinity of French-controlled Kerguelen Island, south of the Indian Ocean.
The ability to focus the EM waves, however, is the most technically difficult problem, which can be solved by using two intersecting beams of scalar energy to create an interference pattern, that is, a third standing wave. This standing wave could be applied in different formats to create various electromagnetic effects or to ionize the atmospheric gases to create deadly plasma. This would account for a diversity of shapes and light effects, that is, UFOs, seen by many thousands of observers around the world that cannot be attributed to passing planes and other physical objects. The Lincoln Laboratory's Haystack radar system near Boston supported a NASA research in charaterizing the size of space debris. They detected that the Cosmos 1900 spacecraft, is leaking coolant (sodium potassium) from its nuclear power source. Cosmos 1900, a Radar Ocean Reconnaissance Satellite using a nuclear reactor to power its surveillance equipment, was launched in december 1987, but suffered a boost problem that left it in a lower than planned orbit. One year later the satellite was turned off and transferred to a higher orbit. source
   In April 1988 the Soviet radar reconnaissance satellite Cosmos 1900 failed to separate and boost the reactor core into a storage orbit. This failure of the basic system raised the possibility that the reactor could re-enter the Earth's atmosphere some time in late summer or early fall. The Soviet Union announced that the satellite was equipped with both a basic system for radiological protection and a redundant system. The redundant system apparently succeeded in separating the nuclear core of Cosmos-1900 on Sept. 30 at which time the reactor core was boosted into a "stable" storage orbit at about 720 km altitude. The intended storage orbit, however, was to have been at more than 800 km altitude. - source
Satellite defense shield patent acknowledges EM / kinetic weapons
Several systems are known which are used to cripple or destroy orbiting satellites or other space vehicles. These systems may be ground based or space based. Typical systems used for destroying satellites include kinetic energy weapons delivered by anti-satellites; directed energy weapons such as high energy lasers, neutral particle beams, high-powered microwave radiation, and other nuclear radiations; and broad-area electromagnetic pulses. Before the satellite can be destroyed, however, it must be detected in space, and the weapon must be aimed such that the destructive force will intercept the path of the satellite. This invention relates to a device which makes it difficult or impossible to locate and track the satellite. When the word "satellite" is used in this specification, other space based mechanisms and vehicles are considered to be within the realm of the invention.
To destroy a satellite, the weapon operator must aim his weapon either to lead the satellite such that the energy beam (or the like) and target arrive at the same location at the same time, or the weapon must be able to track the satellite's location. Should the aim of the gunner be off, in the case of an unguided projectile, the gunner will miss the target. In the case of a guided projectile, the target position, velocity and acceleration information must be accurate enough to enable the projectile to come near enough to its target to be effective. If the input data is inaccurate or too late, the operator will not be able to make the appropriate corrective actions, and the weapon will miss. Cryptome
I have seen something weird around a chemtrail about 2 years ago. It was man made but unlike anything I have ever seen.  Rhombus shape, all white with 4 big holes in it.  Some kind of UAV perhaps.  Seemed like it was inspecting the chemtrail if that makes any sense.
