Plans show magnitude of proposed NSA building

CAMP WILLIAMS -- A draft environmental assessment obtained by KSL 5 News gives some idea of the magnitude of a highest security-intelligence facility the government proposes to build at Camp Williams.

Plans call for approximately 1.5 million square feet of building space--more than twice the size of the Energy Solutions Arena.

The giant National Security Agency facility would be the nerve center for processing, computing and storing top secret information for all the nation's intelligence services. It will operate 24/7, 365 days a year but will be so highly automated that as few as 50 workers will be able to operate and maintain it.

The spy center installation would occupy at least 120 acres and require an enormous fail-safe electrical supply to back up all that computing technology.
