View at 1:00 in. Notice the Heart-a-gram, the pillars, the checkered floor, etc. Is this symbolism, or is it that masonry so tied to royalty that some similarities are unavoidable?

I think the checkered floor is intentional symbolism, the rest are most likely as well. The checkered floor represents (to my understanding) the intersection of two worlds (or a cross-roads) and is symbolic of "travel" or "transportation" from one world/demension to another (like a gateway). This is the reason the ceremonial room(s) in Masonic lodges have checkered floors because they are inviting, welcoming or conguring beings from other worlds as a part of their occult practices.

I have seen the symbol of the checkered floor/partern used in several movies all signifying with some form of extra-demensional travel. For example, in the Matrix, Neo walks across a checkered floor on his way to meet morpheus to take the red pill and leave the matrix. In the trailer you posted it looks as if alice drinks something and is transported to "wonderland". Its no mistake that she was on a checkered floor.
