You're bitching about Windows, yet you're looking forward to an OS from Google? Microsoft is in the software-selling business, but Google is in the DATA COLLECTION business. Everything Google does is designed to make it easier for them to collect data on you and your habits. Do you really want to use an OS from them?
I didn't say I would use Google Chrome. I wouldn't dream of it. I just like the fact that there is some competition to Microsoft, that's all. Also, I am optimistic about the software that they plan to produce for all operating systems. If it is open source, then we can look at the code and know exactly what it is doing. That option simply isn't present with Windows.

Now that contains some good points. The thing is Microsoft needs to be seen to have some sort of competition or it will get broken up into several smaller companies.

With Google Chrome OS, I never have to work, I never have to wake up and I never have to question the authority again!
Thanks to Google OS Chrome, I now know the meaning of slavery is freedom.

I posted that graphic on the Propaganda Matrix forum, and Femacamper said it looks like a modified Obama logo. I think it looks more like a modified Ubuntu logo. (Maybe that's their way of letting us know that Chrome OS will be based on Ubuntu.) Seems most of the blokes on ubuntuforums.org are very wary about a Linux distro from a CIA front...although there are some who are fine with Chrome OS (but not fawning over it like Penguin Pete). http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1207263&highlight=google+overlordsSomebody in that same thread is also speculating that Google will buy Canonical/Ubuntu. If Mark Shuttleworth and Canonical sell out to Google, then I am done with them. http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=7580428&postcount=27

Lots of alternatives like BSD, Gentoo, Slax, Mandrake . . . Each has its own special advantages and little quirks.

I use ubuntu too but in a virtual machine, its mostly for homebrew development so I can keep my windows machine clean from build files and deploy on both platforms at once.

And can you all please provide a documented detail on why Microsoft is a part of the New World Order and being a communist? Please....I would like to see this documented.
Because if my friends ask me on why I despise MS sooooo badly, then at least I can give them a good reason why instead of always telling them that MS is not secure....
Also I heard Alex Jones saying that Bill Gates is a part of the NWO, but he did not lead me to find any documents saying that.
Would appreciate this if someone can dig this up.
Well, for starters, he did have his own secret meeting, with these people invited - http://dagmar.lunarpages.com/~parasc2/articles/0597/gates3.htm I would tell you what they did whilst there, but it was held in secret with very little press coverage, of course.

After disabling the dram compatibility option in bios, i managed to get vista 64-bit up and running well. The dx 10 in crysis64 is pretty cool.

Well, I am sure that you will have to do that regularly. I use 64 bit OpenSuse with 8GB ram, and it runs so fast you hear a sonic boom on start-up.

My new mobo supports 8gb, and so does my OS, vista64. I'd like 8gb too, i got 4gb right now, it's cool how when you OC the ram does also. i'm very happy with 64-bit, and dx10 is awesome.

I got 2 computers
Desktop 512Mb 1.2Ghz Athlon 2000 XP
It runs KDE3.5 fine, but struggles with the new KDE 4. Bit of shame really, tried turning off all the eyecandy special effects, which makes it use-able but too sluggish as a productive desktop.
Server 64Mb 200 Mhz Intel Pentium
Runs like greased lightning, built with gentoo minimal install 90Mb CD and additionally compiled Apache, PHP, et cetera.

I love KDE 4. Comes with all those widgets without having to install some third-party widget thing such as Screenlets or Google Gadgets. But yeah, the eyecandy can be overkill. IMHO, if you have a KDE 4 desktop, you really need about 2 GB of RAM, a video card with at least 128 MB video RAM, and a fast CPU (probably dual-core). I may bump up my total RAM to 2 GB (most this desktop will support) and upgrade the CPU to a dual-core. I already have a 256 MB video card (nVidia), and if I need to install KDE 4, I have Kubuntu Hardy KDE4, Kubuntu Intrepid (KDE4 is default), and Kubuntu Jaunty (KDE4 is default). KDE4 became the default desktop for Kubuntu starting with Intrepid. I do know one thing. I'm not too crazy about the new GRUB boot loader that comes with the alpha releases of (K)(X)Ubuntu Karmic.

LILO Yea, 'grub' sux . . . My Server is giving away about 1-2 Gigabytes of mp3 a day, so that is not a problem unless I recompile absolutely everything in which case it takes about 24 hours.

I think that on all the Ubuntu systems, there's no way to have Ubiquity install LILO as the bootloader unless you recompile the Ubiquity source code and create a new Ubiquity package which depends on LILO (name it something like ubiquity-lilo). (I actually liked the LILO bootloader that came default with Xandros 2 and Xandros 3.) Here's a page on how to install LILO on Ubuntu. http://members.iinet.net.au/~herman546/p4.html

Having tested xp 64 and vista 64, i'm back to xp 32, DX10 gives you more options in the nvidia control panel, and 64 bit systems can handle more RAM, but they're still too buggy. maybe windows 9 64 bit is the way to go?

Unfortunately there is a sizeable segment of the Linux userbase that has seriously deluded themselves into thinking Google is 'good' just because they use Linux as OS. That's how swallow some of these people are.

LoL they really think anything anti-Google is Microsoft shilling?
Now I do believe Microsoft is guilty of what they accuse them of (hiring PR agents to shill teh intarwebz), but Google isn't 'not evil'!
I couldn't tell you if Roy is an actual Google shill, he could be like any one of us with an itchy conspiracy trigger finger against Microsoft. Some people believe Google shits pure shiny white gold bricks for some reason.

Lucian, I have to agree with you here. I am curious as to if any one of us should email this guy and explain there are those of us against google and microsoft because of their anti-privacy actions against the people whom use/used their products.
I would be willing to do this, and give some data about it along with some intel about privacy violations we can expect in the future if I can just get a basis for it.

As I was saying, Windows sux, and like moths to a bug lamp or infants to over-colored Play School toys, it attracts those seeking the lowest common denominator.
I mean, do any of you really like the idea that you have a strictly limited license to use the core software of the most complex non-organic device man has ever mass produced? The idea that, no matter which way you slice it, some man on an ivory tower still holds complete control of the software and potentially the machines it's run on, shouldn't seem very appealing. Add the fact the man on the ivory tower has at his command a group of people who will come at gunpoint, seize you, and steal your stuff, because he doesn't like what you're doing with his computer instruction set.
But hey, people give up their freedom and control daily for money and sex. Why shouldn't most computer users (many here included) be any different? You had to learn something you may not have liked to get away from the NWO, same thing in regards to Micro$hit WinBlow$.
