Guess the worth of Saudi King's golden gift to Obama

FLORIDA: How much is the gift that US President Barack Obama received from King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia worth? Certified jewelers at Cash4Gold, America's leading gold buyer direct from the general public, have closely examined photographs of the gift taken by newswire photos. Assuming the necklace and medallion are crafted of solid 18K gold, the company estimates that the King Abdul Aziz Order of Merit contains as much as $25,000 worth of gold.

Considering that the piece confers Saudi Arabia’s highest honor on President Obama, and that it was bestowed personally by the King on the President as part of an historic and widely reported Presidential visit, the symbolic value of the piece most likely surpasses its melt value. Melt value is the value of the actual precious metal contained in an item and that a refinery can extract and recycle. Melt value does not account for the decorative, artistic, historic, or sentimental value of a given item.

Cash4Gold co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Aronson noted, “I do not expect that President Obama will mail his King Abdul Aziz Order of Merit to Cash4Gold, but if the Obamas, or if any other Americans want to tap the value of old or broken gold jewelry lying around the house, now would be a great time to send it in to Cash4Gold.”

Upon receiving the Order of Merit, President Obama reportedly exclaimed, “"Goodness gracious. That's something there." (Courtesy: Businesswire)

That star looks familiar. I really wish we could get a closeup of what the star encircles.

Isn't that special.  I wonder if he'll wear it every day.

This is the closest thing I could find to it on the internet.

Lol, you know, I don't know if anyone else sees a connection between this palm tree with two crossing sabers, the popes crown with the two crossing keys, and "The Order of Death's" a skull with two crossing bones (AKA Jolly Roger). Does anyone else see a very common theme? Can't figure out what is in that star though, that's for sure, to me it looks like it could be anything from a Buddha symbol to some sorta san scrit writing in a circle.

On a more serious note, it's a heptagram.  From Wikipedia:

The second heptagram is known among Wiccans as the Elven Star or Fairy Star, a sacred symbol to those who follow the Faery tradition. Similarly, it has been adopted as an identifier by some members of the Otherkin subculture. Blue Star Wicca also uses the symbol, where it is referred to simply as a septegram. The second heptagram is also a symbol of magickal power in other Pagan religions.

The first heptagram was used as a symbol in the Kabbalah, and later by Aleister Crowley and the Ordo Templi Orientis where it was known as the Star (or Seal) of Babalon.

The heptagram is also used in Christianity to symbolize the seven days of creation and became a traditional symbol for warding off evil, thus the reason that most sheriff's badges are first heptagonal shaped.

The heptagram is also the symbol of perfection (or God) in many Christian religions.

In alchemy, a seven-sided star can refer to the seven planets which were known to ancient alchemists.

Wow, I figured a seven pointed star would be a fairy star, that makes sense to me, them fairies are a vicious and strange folk.

Anyways, I bet this has a lot to do with aliens and majik, that's just my opinion.
