by both sides of the issue you mean tolerance and hate? i would have no problem with facts like what you mention being taught (though that's a bit over the head of primary school). but teaching that gay people are abominations, lesser people and don't deserve rights has no place in public school. unless you want to be treated the same? |

i seriously doubt that actual sexual content was discussed. most kids understand the concept of mommies and daddies. this sounds like it was presented on the level of some people have mommies and mommies and stuff like that. |

Children as young as four were among the pupils told about same sex relationships as part of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. So, why didn't they cover Day Against fatty-O-phobia?
During the talk children at Bromstone Primary in Broadstairs, Kent, were played music by Elton John and told he was homosexual.
A string of parents have since complained their children were left "confused" and "worried" by the assembly.
Gemma Martin, 28, whose daughter Chloe, seven, and Danny, four, are both pupils, went on: "It's meant a number of girls are worried about being friends with each other. Now when ever the two friends play they are worried that they might be gay? Or will it affect friendship because they think the other child is hitting on them?
"Little girls often cuddle each other if one of them is crying or has fallen over, and now they are afraid to do that in case the others think they are gay.
"I think kids as young as four don't need to know about that and it should be left to their parents to tell them when they think they're ready." Definitely up to the parent!

How about we teach the basics and keep the political and religious B.S. out of public schools? We should let the family teach their kids of the other issues, or is it better to let the STATE do it? We have completely failed at teaching the basics but now we can teach about life styles? Schools should not be a battlefield for childrens minds with children taking the casualties. Teach the basics and let them learn the other stuff on their own when they are ready! Too many people have political agendas of their own and are willing to use public institutions as weapons.
