Russia proposes international pirate court
Mon May 4, 2009 2:52pm EDT

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Monday suggested establishing an international court to try suspected pirates.

Russia last week said it had captured a pirate vessel with 29 people on board off the coast of Somalia, but it has not yet decided where to try the suspects.

"It is necessary to consider all possibilities, including, maybe, the formation of some kind of international court on this theme," Medvedev told Prosecutor General Yury Chaika in televised remarks.

"Often states where these pirates come from do not take any actions, in short, they aid this kind of crime," Medvedev said.

Russia is among several naval powers with warships in the area to protect one of the world's busiest sea lanes from spate of hijackings by Somali pirates.

This is a very slipper slope.  I see both sides of this issue and I also see control and clamp-down more on mariners.

If our congress would write letter of marque and mariners to be armed this could all be avoided.  But our congress bow down to the U.N. disarmament agendas.   Angry

Yes that is exactly it, a slippery slope, that leads to a place where the globalist lawyers can decide who can use the seas. And its also telling that they had Russia introduce it, I personally would have though it would be a country like France - which is not perceived to have an agenda

Yep think it is a good idea, but of course it will lead somewhere that i doubt americans will like as they will likely be tried for war crimes.

Americans are just obsessed with protecting there leaders and officials and others want an international court for any thing that is international. I think medvedev is right on this, and the world needs a true international court by now. We have seen the coordinated thing that swine brought about and how the nwo is already here.

Will be interesting if other countries want this too, as spain have already called for similar with regard to american criminals.

It is not a good thing--The international Court will not recognize our Constitution.
