I just noticed there is 24 lights (12/12). Again I stress the monolith is saturn (the star) between the two pillars (the gate)

For yet more confirmation Jupiter is the gate just look at Jupietrs symbol:


Jake Kotze shows us at 6:35 the Saturn hexagon on Jupiter in 2010. (It appears the eye of Jupiter gets sucked in?)

Compare pic with video. Regardless the saturn hexagon is on Jupiter causing it to remit.

Perhaps that's why the 6th case here looks smaller. Who knows...

In the "Contact with Higher Intelligence and The Saturn Hexagon Jake Kotze" points out the 666 engine of discovery one that passes over the disturbance on Jupiter. **Maybe** "eyes wide shut" and his 666 death at 70 is related to the eye of jupiter 'closed' by Saturn's hexagon. Saturn kind of has its own interchangable connection with 666 because it's the 6th planet, 6th day of the week, and the 6 sided hexagon.
Rob Ager made the 7up connection. This was Rob Ager's take on the 7 diamonds sucking light inwards:

"The fact that they are sucking light in is most likely Kubrick’s statement that secretive religious orders do not bring enlightenment as they claim to. They actually suck enlightenment away and leave the Earth in spiritual darkness."

The symbolism appears that Saturn's hexagon is responsible for the "spiritual darkness". Plus the monolith's ground zero walls on the moon are riddled with Hexagon's.

I have a copy of this movie, I bought it after the multi-part show was on tv! Never really connected this with any omnious-like symbolism of things to come, I'll have to dig it out & re-watch it. Thanks for the link to the YouTube vids!
