Oh man, you guys are great! And I risk a $500 fine for falsely supplying information? Even better. This Census is going to be the best!
Yes, a $500 a fine. But thats just for the 2010 census. I think the 2020 census will include tasers built into the GPS units Anyone gives them problems about their GPS tracking, they'll "Captain Kirk" us.

So let me summarize for myself here. Taking a GPS lock while preparing for the Census constitutes a violation of law?
Oh man, you guys are great! And I risk a $500 fine for falsely supplying information? Even better.
This Census is going to be the best!
I would not say GPS lock is necessarily a violation of law per se. It is the ulterior motive that concerns me. Wouldn't it have just been easier to go through the U.S. Postal service for address verification?

Oh I see someone on my property with a GPS unit I am getting strapped up and going for a look-see. Reminds me of the times as a kid I would spray paint the neighborhoods power meters with black. But I hear you, why would a GPS location fix be necessary unless we are either a. missing something like the GPS location is tied to some map program and is for address verification or b. used for some bureaucratic invasion of privacy. Lastly, anytime a governmental agency makes the mistake of sending someone to talk to me is a gift from God to mess with someone's head who should have used their time in college more productively. Like learning to play guitar.

they obviously aren't doing it for the address. they want a way to be able to send someone or something back to the precise spot on command. could be anything from a beat cop to a swat team to a robot to a smart bomb.

We had a census worker come last week.
Entered our gate with the no trespassing sign. Now we have about 15 dogs and yet he comes in the yard.
My daughter yells, there is a guy in the yard.
I yell back...get the gun. He is petting my German Shepherds.....lol, he has no idea how close to death he came...
So i get my had gun and go outside.
He is now outside the gate talking with my neighbor.
Hand me a census flyer, but says he doesn't need to talk to me anymore...
Who comes in a fenced yard with dogs...lol...I did tell him about the gun and you should have saw his face..

US Census GPS in Neighborhoods Now Monday April 6, 2009 The US Census Bureau is required to assess the nation's population and demographics every 10 years, and the next census will take place in 2010. In preparation for the census, 140,000 address canvassers or "listers" have begun fanning out across their assigned regions to update and verify addresses. The listers verify existing addresses, add new addresses, and document dwellings that might include multiple residents. This year, for the first time, canvassers are equipped with a handheld computer that includes built-in GPS. The GPS (shown in photo) was custom-designed for the census by the Harris Company, and built by HTC. Originally intended for the main census, it appears that use of the handheld computer/GPS will be limited only to this year's listing phase, due to training and technical constraints. http://gps.about.com/b/2009/04/06/us-census-gps-in-neighborhoods-now.htmCensus Person: "Sir? Are you a human?" Me: "Negative, I'm a meat popsicle."

I am not sure if they are doing it all over the country during the day. The census taking said the reason she is plotting our address is because there has been a housing boom and lots of homes are not in the system--or something to that regard.
Straight up bullshit - the counties have real estate databases with all the plots right in them.

Too bad that I also reverse and move the street signs in a 5 mile block radius around where I live. Picked that idea up from the kids nearby. Might be why they are doing GPS locks. Remember, these are government contractors not agents. If it doesn't have a badge and warrant, it doesn't get anything but a possible 12 ga. rock salt shower. As far as working for the census, how do they check your work? I would sit in my truck, smoke weed and fill in BS details about households. Free money, how very Federal Government.

Talked to my neighbor yesterday and she was pissed--the census taker went rummaging through her mailbox. She called the Sherriff and reported it.
I remember when we were canvassing for Ron Paul-- one of the things we were told was not to put flyers or any literature in or around the mailboxes--even though some of us older canvassers already knew not to do this, the younger ones were surprised they couldn't.

You are required by law to answer these questions, however, you can not be required to provide a specific answer.
I would remind everyone that "Fourth Amendment Objection" IS an answer.
I suppose the other option would be to write out a check for $500, give it to the agent, and tell them to f*ck-off.
Personally, I am a law abiding American and I will participate up to the point that my natural rights are violated. This, of course, means that any questions, other than how many (non-) voting age people meat-popsicles live here, will be met with the appropriate assertion of my Constitutionally protected rights.

Funny thing is I did the same thing in meeting a census taker at the door with a 40Cal. He asked me no questions and turned around and walked away, I continued too follow him off my property (without gun) and walked him too the next house while questioning him but he would not speak, he just did a lot of shaking and sweating. I just hope I got the message too him that may help him wake up too what he is participating in.

Is this a coincidence that these census takers were out locking us in to the Military Industrial GPS and a flu scare has cropped up? Maybe I am just paranoid but I have come to the realization that paranoia is not necessarily a bad thing.

So these surveys are going around during the day? Since i'm not home, what do they do? Just GPS map my house? Why do they even bother anymore... they have all of our info elsewhere.
yeah, to bad you couldnt be home during the day so you could catch one of these scum bags coming to the door. i have the video camera on standby along with my digital camera to take some photos. i also have some nice things i would like to say to them when they do come around to my place. i might even call the sheriff.

There was a guy here awhile back that provided some excellent links about the conflict in Ireland awhile back. I'll search and see if I can find any links. In those days, any reps of the English govt that went around, like meter readers, etc were getting capped...
Sane, do you remember that guy?

I've seen all kinds of people ( workers and people in suits ) walking up and down the street with hand held "scanners" this week. Also People Working on wires ? Not the regular phone or power companies but what looks to me like private contractors. Who knows what they are doing. The power was shut off for an hour today.
Last year the town of east Syracuse passed a law requiring landlords to have inspectors come once a year at the owners expense . When they inspected my apartment this year the guy looked like a cop for starters and purposely made me turn on the light ( he said to see if it worked ) but when i turned it on he immediately started scanning the room . He then made a comment about how many fishtanks i had in the house. I thought yep get ready for the " GREEN BRIGADE "
I should add that he didn't check any other lights in the house . He was just checking for fire alarms the detector in my bedroom was right above the door so there was no need to ask for the light to be turned on. Just snooping thats all you should have seen him looking at everything but the light.
I'm moving soon but laws like that may start up anywhere these days just be aware of it
The census is now a threat. I'm just gonna quit letting these people in my house period.

http://www.thepriceofliberty.org/greenslade.htmMy Rules and Plan of Attack Here are the 3 basic rules I follow when I receive requests for personal information on the Census and/or American Community Survey forms. * I never destroy or deface the forms. * I never put false information on the forms. * I never partially complete the forms. If I am going to make the assertion that the requested information does not apply to me or the requested information exceeds the government’s constitutional authority to request the information, I return the form with a cover letter explaining why. Here is my plan of attack for the Census and American Community Survey forms. When I receive the 2010 Census form I will return it with a cover letter. In the letter I will give them the number of people residing in the house and state that pursuant to Article I, Section 2, Clause 3 of the Constitution that is the only information they are empowered to request. My “name, sex, age, date of birth, race, ethnicity, relationship and housing tenure” have absolutely nothing to with apportioning direct taxes or determining the number of representatives in the House of Representatives. Therefore, neither Congress nor the Census Bureau has the constitutional authority to make that information request a component of the enumeration outlined in Article I, Section 2, Clause 3. In addition, I cannot be subject to a fine for basing my conduct on the Constitution because that document trumps laws passed by Congress. Period end of story. When I receive the American Community Survey form, I will return it with a cover letter. The letter will simply state that since the Constitution established a federal government of limited enumerated powers and that document does not grant them the general power to request the information, I am under no constitutional obligation to provide it. If they attempt to distort the law and threaten me with the bogus $5,000.00 fine, as discussed and exposed above, I will send a letter to the Justice Department and request prosecution of the individuals making the threat. The Coup de Gras to their Unconstitutional Information Requests Even though I do not like to cite court cases, I either attach this one to my letter or hold it in reserve to support my refusal to comply with their bogus requests because it usually ends the discussion and any threat of a fine. “Neither branch of the legislative department [House of Representatives or Senate], still less any merely administrative body [insert Census Bureau], established by congress, possesses, or can be invested with, a general power of making inquiry into the private affairs of the citizen. Kilbourn v. Thompson, 103 U.S. 168, 190. We said in Boyd v. U.S., 116 U. S. 616, 630, 6 Sup. Ct. 524,―and it cannot be too often repeated,―that the principles that embody the essence of constitutional liberty and security forbid all invasions on the part of government and it’s employees of the sanctity of a man’s home and the privacies of his life. As said by Mr. Justice Field in Re Pacific Ry. Commission, 32 Fed. 241, 250, ‘of all the rights of the citizen, few are of greater importance or more essential to his peace and happiness than the right of personal security, and that involves, not merely protection of his person from assault, but exemption of his private affairs, books, and papers from inspection and scrutiny of others. Without the enjoyment of this right, all others would lose half their value.’” [The bracketed words added for clarification] Interstate Commerce Commission v. Brimson, 154 U.S. 447, 479 (May 26, 1894) Note: This United States Supreme Court case has never been overturned. If the federal government had been granted the general power to make inquires into the private affairs of the American people through the Census or a congressional mandated survey, then the Supreme Court could not have made this statement. Now that we know the federal government was not granted the constitutional authority to make general inquires into our private affairs under the umbrella of the Census or a survey, I hope the American people will consider engaging in some civil disobedience and refuse to comply with these unconstitutional requests.

I am always game for civil disobedience! Thanks for posting lord edward coke!

So happy you approve. The more tricks we have at our disposal the better. Corruption: ACORN gets boot from US Census Bureau; Obama silent about emerging scandals Following several incidents covered by new media sources such as Fox News Channel, talk radio, Internet journalists and bloggers, the US Census Bureau severed its ties with Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) a community organization suspected of corruption and voter-registration fraud. "We do not come to this decision lightly," Census director Robert Groves wrote in a letter to ACORN, sent to The Examiner by US Congressman Patrick McHenry (R-NC). "For months, I have continually pressured the Bureau to protect the integrity of the 2010 Census and end its relationship with ACORN. For months, the Bureau shamefully defended this criminal enterprise affiliated with the Democratic Party," said Rep. McHenry. "When I met with Director Groves immediately following his confirmation, he promised me that the status of ACORN as a national partner would be reviewed. I applaud Director Groves for having the courage to do the right thing. I’m sure there are those in the Obama Administration who will not be happy with Director Groves’ decision. But it comes as welcome news to the public and all who seek an accurate and apolitical census." McHenry's reference to President Barack Obama's administration stems from that fact that Obama once worked as an organizer and attorney for ACORN. During his presidential campaign, Obama was successful in using thousands of ACORN activists to help his White House run. "It is clear that ACORN's affiliation with the 2010 census promotion has caused sufficient concern in the general public, has indeed become a distraction from our mission, and may even become a discouragement to public cooperation, negatively impacting 2010 census efforts," Groves wrote in his letter to ACORN.. ACORN spokesman and attorney Scott Levenson is said to be preparing a press statement on behalf of the group. Levenson created a stir at Fox News Channel when he allegedly made sexual advances towards a female production assistant for FNC's Glenn Beck program. According to Beck, Levenson was abusive and made it difficult to believe he would be an attorney for a prestigious organization. As far as voter-registration fraud, ACORN has claimed that only a handful of employees submitted false registration forms and did so in a bid to boost their pay. However, critics of the group say that there are investigations into ACORN activities in 14 states. On Thursday, a videotape surfaced on the Internet and some news shows revealing ACORN workers advising "clients" how to conceal the true nature of their business -- prostitution of teenagers -- and how to secure a residence in which to create a brothel. The man and woman in the video were doing an independent undercover expose' of ACORN. The video has shocked millions of Americans who have viewed within 24 hours of its release. According to ACORN, the two workers were terminated. However, another video has surfaced involving ACORN workers in a similar situation, this time in Washington, DC. http://www.examiner.com/x-2684-Law-Enforcement-Examiner~y2009m9d11-Corruption-ACORN-gets-boot-from-US-Census-Bureau-Obama-silent-about-emerging-scandals

pass this along letter on the census for your information, only. I do not counsel anyone to break the law. Of course, I’m not real sure of what the law is. A direct and literal reading of the U.S. Constitution it seems to me, a non lawyer, is clear as to what the law is: people are legally obligated, only, to cooperate in a head count for political representation purposes. But, my fear , my expectation, even, is that present courts will not interpret the law in that way, and may instead punish census rebels who refuse to furnish additional required (requested?) information. In any case, the following will undoubtedly be of interest to all people concerned with liberty; I offer it exactly as it was sent to me: From: ronpaul-200@meetup.com on behalf of DarkLaw Sent: Tue 3/9/2010 9:02 PM To: ronpaul-200@meetup.comSubject: Re: [ronpaul-200] Ron Paul CNN on Cafferty Files 2/27/10 My response to the Census I compiled this letter and inserted it into the Census envelope, along with my 2010 census form. I marked off that ‘02′ people reside at this address….and, well… read the rest! Use this as a template! This is just another small step in which we can show the Feds we won’t take this nonsense lying down! ______________________ To Whom it May Concern, Pursuant to Article I, Section 2, Clause 3 of the Constitution, the only information you are empowered to request is the total number of occupants at this address. My “name, sex, age, date of birth, race, ethnicity, telephone number, relationship and housing tenure” have absolutely nothing to do with apportioning direct taxes or determining the number of representatives in the House of Representatives. Therefore, neither Congress nor the Census Bureau have the constitutional authority to make that information request a component of the enumeration outlined in Article I, Section 2, Clause 3. In addition, I cannot be subject to a fine for basing my conduct on the Constitution because that document trumps laws passed by Congress. Interstate Commerce Commission v. Brimson, 154 U.S. 447, 479 (May 26, 1894) “Neither branch of the legislative department [House of Representatives or Senate], still less any merely administrative body [such as the Census Bureau], established by congress, possesses, or can be invested with, a general power of making inquiry into the private affairs of the citizen. Kilbourn v. Thompson, 103 U.S. 168, 190. We said in Boyd v. U.S., 116 U. S. 616, 630, 6 Sup. This is indeed a more comprehensive search engine designed to find OMB#s in an all-encompassing manner. Albeit I certainly would expect that the Census or OMB websites would be obligated to readily verify the OMB# with Notice and an OMB# on the form. In fact, I could easily argue that they would put the website to verify the OMB# right there with the OMB#! http://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/PRAMainThe Census is under jurisdiction of the Department of Commerce. So I selected that in Current Inventory. It is there. How to verify the OMB#. Not being able to find it on the OMB website counts for something I am sure. Think about that - the Office of Management and Budget does not link you to validate that OMB#. Being unable to verify disqualifies the authority, in my opinion. And I have yet to find the Delegation of Authority linked to notice in the Federal Register. http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/search/?keywords=0607-0919-C

Just wanted to say, we have not received a census questionnaire, but last week a census working came to our front door. My husband went out and told him the number of the people in our house and then turned around and walked back in the house--the end.
My mother received the questionnaire and only filled out the first question, and the other nine questions wrote 'N/A' next to each one.
My sister received the questionnaire and filled only the first question, and then sent the letter that was posted on the Lew Rockwell site.
Many other friends and family told us the first question would be all they were going to fill out as well.

PMF, you guys need to put the tin foil back in the kitchen cabinet...... They always have an early workforce to start the mapping and preliminary work before the actual count starts... I worked the 2000 census as a crew leader out of the Vineland office. One of my people called me out to a house because the owner was concerned that she was paying taxes to Cumberland County and she felt she was a Salem county resident. It took me a day to go over the maps and previous census records, but she was right - legally she was in Salem County..... so were about six of the neighboring houses. They immediately found themselves in a lower tax rate.... Ther were several glitches like that just in south jersey.... folks paying taxes to the wrong township, etc.... they discussed using gps in 2000 to help straighten out the old maps. Well, the first thing you should say is that the census is mandated by the US Constitution, for enumeration purposes with regards to representation in the legislative branch of the Federal Government. This seems to be a lost bit of knowledge for people lately. The reason I bring it up though, is because the census workers have no business dealing with property tax locals. That is a local matter or at best a county matter. There are courts set up in the counties that only hear matters regarding property taxes and such. So, besides the fact that he violated his oath of privacy, he did in one day what it takes courts and lawyers months on end to do. This guy should be given a medal. Anyway, GPS coordinates of your front door are a violation of privacy in my opinion. All you need to know is that this piece of property is owned by me (available at the local records location), and that I have this many people living here. All the other information has nothing to do with what the federal government is supposed to be doing, taking care of the states by protecting them and fortifying the union by settling issues that may arise between the states. Anything else, like traffic lights or school buses are meant to be dealt with at the local level, or state at the absolute highest, as to not impose one states beliefs on another's. But I rant. Dan
