NOTE: There are 3 on the Open Congress list WHO ARE NOT Co-Sponsors of this bill. I called their offices: (It's helpful to keep putting these 3 in the spotlight because they should be supporting this Bill)

1) Louise Slaughter (D-NY)
2) Henry Waxman (D-CA)
3) Keith Ellison (D-MN)

People should be ringing their phones off the hook until they get some sense and support this legislation!

Good to know. Trust but verify!

I'm just hoping that if this bill passes it will not just be farmed out to some CFR controlled auditor like Deloitte & Touche so that they can cook it with some madoff-style accounting practices.

I'm still for the effort, but this should be followed with a definitive end-the-fed bill. We must return to a gold and silver constitutionally backed system.

A Bill has already been introduced by Ron Paul in Feb 2009: HR 833

Campaign for Liberty had a goal of 10% Dem support, so they are fired up.  They book out phone bombs, everyone calling within a few hours window.  I am hosting a petition drive at a gun show.  It may go to vote by then.  It is effective, the calls are working, call more than one Congressman, more than one state.

Barney Frank has stated he would hold a hearing on the bill.

It's 175 now folks.

http://www.ronpaul.com/2009-05-21/ron-pauls-bill-to-audit-the-federal-reserve-now-has-165-co-sponsors/

Currently there are 175 co-sponsors for this legislation, and it is enjoying bi-partisan support. Your efforts in supporting this important legislation would go a long way in proving to your constituents that you not only hold the Federal Reserve to the same standard as you do your constituents, but it would also show that you believe in transparency. Anything less than support for this resolution suggests that you are in favor of secrecy and a lack of accountability to the people who pay the bills. We pay the tab; we have a right to know where our money is going.

This is looking very good!

I heard Rand Paul on AJ today saying Barney Frank (Head, Financial Services Committee, where Bill is right now) has said he will bring it up for discussion in his Committee. Rand then said if it passes the Committee, it has a very good chance of passing in the House. I agree, especially since we already have 175 and only need 218 to pass with a majority.

No Congressman can give a valid reason for voting "NO" to this bill. Any Congressman who votes "NO" to this bill, we need to remember their names, and in 2010 elections KICK THEM OUT OF CONGRESS because they will have OUTED themselves as being for the bankers and against WE THE PEOPLE!

We are tired of "banker boot lickers" and "wimps in Congress who sell us out". THIS IS THE TEST FOLKS! THIS BILL! IF THEY VOTE "NO", THEN THEY "GO" in 2010!

They feel it, believe me.... you see the look on Ben Bernankes face the last face-off he had with Ron Paul during the economic committee?? That was classic..... I could see the sheer terror in his eyes... he knows that this man has solid ground to stand on, and he himself is on a sinking ship!!

I agree. Citizens who have their Congressman's name on this list should applaud them.

However, if your Congressman's name is NOT on this list, then you need to be calling them regularly until it is on the list. If they won't listen to you, then you should abide by the one strike policy and consider voting them out of Congress at the next chance you get. If they won't add their name to a Bill that is about TRANSPARENCY, then you most certainly will find them doing other things that are questionnable. The days of Congressmen with lack of intregrity and working for the wrong side MUST BE OVER! This means you stop voting for these types.

This is a bill that will tell us if our Congressmen are on the side of the BANKERS or WE THE PEOPLE! They need to make a choice. Then the people will make a choice at the ballot box in 2010 for any who do not sign on! Simple as that!

Yeah. I'm going to guess that by the end of June (so approx 4 weeks) we will have our number or will have surpassed it!

Question 1: It needs 218 votes to pass (There are 435 members in the House, however this is assuming that everyone is present when it comes up for a vote on the House floor, and this is also assuming that every cosponsor does indeed vote 'yes', so the more cosponsors we have, the better)

Question 2: I do not know!!! (Anyone?)

IMO Dennis started out good on many issues, then suddenly seemed to shift on others. I wonder about him now. I think he has a little socialist in him.

As far as why he hasn't signed up? I think we all should call him and ask him that very question! Phone (202)225-5871

The campaign for liberty is trying to get more people on the list.  It's mostly democrats that are stalling the process.  In PA all republicans have signed on, while all democrats have declined.  We're working our reps, but we're going to have to get some publicity.  I've gotten a couple letters to the editor in local papers, but for all the keyboard warrior jacking off people do hardly anyone has even tried to contact their local paper.  It's pretty easy to google them, but apparently its alot easier to gripe then act.

Now at 186!

Well good news but after it's over, we 'win' and then we wait and hear about how they can't get access to stuff for 'national security' reasons and private contractual reasons,  and then we find out what we already know, (that they are and have always been a bunch of special-interest-socialist privileged elite politician blackmailing criminal crooks exploiting an unconstitutional law, rolling in profits of crime that are now protected from Attainder) where does that get us?

The Federal Reserve Act needs to be challenged and defeated as unconstitutional before a responsible and fair Supreme Court who uphold the Constitution  - and we don't happen to have one of those...

Only a Court can attach, seize or re-Attain the proceeds of crime, not a government.

For Congress, who passed the unconstitutional enabling law that criminally established the illegal private Fed Monopoly, to repeal or pass a new law to revoke their crime it would be the equivalent of passing a Bill of Attainder now, and these conservatist crooks do have a corrupt Supreme Court on their side who would toss that repeal out!

(even if their Obammunist Party Chairman would ever sign such an eventual bill into law)

That's great! Keep bugging them until they do the right thing and sign on to this Bill. Like I've said before, the Reps who do not Co-Sponsor and VOTE YES to this Bill should be kicked out of Congress. There is no excuse for ANY REP IN THE CONGRESS to vote any other way than YES when this comes up, and they should be co-sponsoring it now. If your REP is not on this list, SHAME ON THEM. Bug them until they get the message that they work for US, not the BANKERS, and that it is their duty to support this BILL! I would question their INTEGRITY if they don't support HR 1207!

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed bill is now up to 186 cosponsors!

That means over 40% of the entire House of Representatives is currently signed onto HR 1207.

Not only that, but Barney Frank has even promised Ron Paul that he will hold hearings in the House Financial Services Committee.

When these hearings occur in a few months, Ron wants to have a majority of House members on board . . . so there will be no stopping Audit the Fed.

It is amazing what we’ve been able to accomplish in the House on the back of tireless grassroots efforts.

But now it is time to start thinking about the next step.

Pretty soon we will be turning our attention to the Senate, where we are certain to face a more difficult fight.

There, corporate lobbyists and Beltway insiders wield even more powerful influence.

Many Senators are already bought and sold by Wall Street bankers and their Federal Reserve flunkies.

And the Banking Lobby is already pumping piles of cash into Senate campaign coffers in a preemptive stand against Federal Reserve transparency.

Fortunately, Campaign for Liberty has been developing a grassroots program and a massive marketing campaign to counter the banksters’ efforts.

And we’re almost ready to launch.  But it won’t be cheap, and we can’t afford to run out of gas before the job is done and Audit the Fed is passed.

Can you chip in $25 to help counter the millions of Wall Street dollars and corporate contributions?

If you can afford more, every extra dollar will be poured into our campaign to pass Audit the Fed in the Senate.

As we close in on 50% support for Audit the Fed in the House of Representatives, the time is nearing to officially unleash the Ron Paul R3volution on the Senate.

If you can, please click here to make a contribution to help Campaign for Liberty launch our Audit the Fed program in the Senate.

In Liberty,

John Tate
President

P.S. Unlike the Federal Reserve, Campaign for Liberty cannot just print money out of thin air.  Can you chip in $20 today to help us restore sound money by Auditing the Fed?

Kucinich Secures Good Government Victory
Submitted by davidswanson on Thu, 2009-06-04 15:27.

Amendment Would Open the Books of the Federal Reserve’s Recent Intervention in Financial Markets

Washington D.C. (June 4, 2009) – Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today won adoption of an amendment to H.R. 2646, The Government Accountability Office (GAO) Improvement Act of 2009. The Kucinich amendment would grant the GAO the authority to audit the Federal Reserve’s response to the financial crisis. The amendment was adopted unanimously in a committee markup of H.R. 2646 by the Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

“The Federal Reserve’s unprecedented response to the financial crisis reached a peak of nearly $2 trillion of new credit facilities. But not a penny was subject to oversight and scrutiny normally applied to large government programs. This amendment will finally provide some transparency by giving the GAO the authority to conduct detailed reviews of the Fed’s crisis-related interventions in financial markets,” said Kucinich.

In August of 2007, widely considered the beginning of the economic crisis, the Fed had a balance sheet of $847 billion. The Fed’s response to the economic crisis has ballooned the balance sheet to $2.198 trillion.

“The Fed’s response to the crisis is the largest component by far of our government’s recovery efforts. Since credit markets froze in August 2007, the Fed has intervened in 11 extraordinary ways. The last time the Fed intervened was 1934. Congress has an obligation to protect the American taxpayer and American tax dollars, and we rely upon the GAO to help us do it. This amendment will give the GAO the authority it needs to provide Congress the information we need to protect American tax dollars,” said Kucinich

Congressman Kucinich had previously introduced legislation (HR 2424) that would grant the GAO authority to audit the Fed with bipartisan support from Chairman Ed Towns (D-NY) and Ranking Member Darrell Issa (R-CA) of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, as well as Jim Jordan (R-OH), the Ranking Member of the Domestic Policy Subcommittee, which is chaired by Kucinich. The Kucinich amendment was a version of the bipartisan bill.
