1 day left in president's 1st year in office to express your gratitude

WASHINGTON – With less than three weeks remaining in President Trump’s first year in office, the campaign is steaming along, having surpassed 20,000 digital cards of gratitude generated for his hundreds of major accomplishments.

“Jan. 20 will mark the anniversary of the president’s Inauguration Day, so it’s a great time to let him know how much you appreciate all he’s done for the country in such a short time,” said Joseph Farah, WND’s founder who launched the campaign just before Thanksgiving. “It’s a record of accomplishment unparalleled in modern American history.”

The campaign includes the most comprehensive list compiled any anyone of his significant achievements, which have come on an average of one every two days since he took the oath of office.

It’s quite a record of success, yet no president in arguably all of American history has faced such relentless opposition over the course of his first year.

Trump has faced vitriol and obstruction from all sides: Democrats, the media, Hollywood, the sports world, the international community, the deep state, the religious Left, “progressive” activists and even many Republicans and establishment conservatives.

“Making America great again is a thankless job, but it doesn’t have to be,” said Farah. “We, the American people, have the power to raise our voices in thanks for this president who has accomplished so much in his first year but has so little acclaim to show for it.”

Trump to give State of the Union on Jan. 30
MATTHEW NUSSBAUM  - 11/30/2017

President Donald Trump will deliver his first State of the Union address on Jan. 30, Speaker Paul Ryan announced on Thursday.

The address will be Trump’s first speech to the full Congress since his joint address this past February, a month after his inauguration.

“I’m formally inviting President Trump to address a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, January 30, to report on the state of the union,” Ryan announced. “We look forward to him accepting our invitation.”

The Constitution states that the president “shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union.” The tradition of delivering the address in-person was revived by President Woodrow Wilson in 1913.

The speech will provide Trump the opportunity to lay out his agenda for
his second year in office in a tightly choreographed setting.

What time, what channel, livestream, protests

Rep. Lois Frankel (D-Fla.), said she will give her guest ticket to the speech
to a person involved in the “Me Too” movement.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other female Democrats
have said they plan to wear black to the speech in solidarity with the “Me Too” movement.

Who is not coming:

More than 60 members of Congress boycotted Trump’s inauguration. So far,
five Democrats have said that they will not attend the State of the Union address. They are:

Maxine Waters, (D-Calif.)
John Lewis, (D-Ga.)
Earl Blumenauer, (D-Oregon)
Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.)
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.)

While Trump's critics keep talking,
our president is fulfilling his promises

Christopher Buskirk - Jan. 18, 2018

By every measure of personal and national prosperity, the nation is better off than it was a year ago, and it's thanks to the integrity of our leader.

President Trump promised in his first inaugural address that his administration would be guided by one “crucial conviction: that a nation exists to serve its citizens.” He went on to say that “every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs, will be made to benefit American workers and American families.” His first year in office has been the story of promises kept.

And while the president’s critics reflect on a year full of sound and fury, the president and his supporters will take satisfaction in a year of successes despite unyielding opposition.

By every measure of personal and national prosperity, the nation is better off than it was one year ago. The Trump administration has overseen a renewed respect for citizenship. Gone is the lofty sounding rhetoric of globalism that led to unwinnable foreign wars and open borders. Back is talk of what we can do together as Americans.

There is much yet to be done. There is a wall that the president has promised to build and infrastructure he has promised to rebuild. There are yet more judges to be appointed and, perhaps most difficult, a swamp yet to be drained. So to Trump’s critics I say, go ahead, keep talking. While you’re doing that, Trump will be governing.

House-passed bill to avoid a government shutdown
sinks in the Senate as funding deadline passes

* The White House blamed Democrats for the measure's failure, even as
four Republican senators opposed it.
* Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he will offer an amendment
to extend government funding until Feb. 8.
Jacob Pramuk

A House-passed stopgap bill that would avoid a government shutdown fizzled out in the Senate late Friday night, leaving Congress negotiating frantically as the midnight deadline to fund the government passed.

The measure failed in a procedural vote by a 50 to 49 margin. Five Democrats — Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Doug Jones of Alabama and Claire McCaskill of Missouri — had backed it. Four Republicans — Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Jeff Flake of Arizona, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Mike Lee of Utah — opposed it. So did Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for procedural reasons.

As nearly all Democrats and some Republicans opposed the measure that failed to work its way through Congress on Friday, lawmakers saw government funding lapse, at least temporarily. The proposal that failed in the Senate would have funded the government through Feb. 16 and reauthorized the popular Children's Health Insurance Program for six years.

UPDATE 1:07 A.M.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is planning a series of votes starting tonight that are filled with measures to hammer Democrats walking into the midterm elections after their decision to vote to shut down the federal government. The Schumer Shutdown is already proving to be very politically painful for Senate Democrats.

UPDATE 1:02 A.M.

Democrats are facing major political consequences all across the nation for shutting down the federal government on Friday night. Ronna Romney McDaniel, the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, blasted Democrats for their intransigence across the board ahead of the all important midterm elections coming up.

“Senate Democrats shutdown the government over petty political games and blind opposition to Republican efforts to pay our troops and fund health care for nine million vulnerable children,” McDaniel said. “This was an unnecessary crisis created by Democrats who jeopardized funding for services for lawful American citizens and our military over an unrelated issue surrounding illegal immigration. The President and Congressional Republicans are committed to fight for the American people – it’s clear Democrats are only interested in fighting for Chuck and Nancy.”

President Trump: A year of real change
President Donald J. Trump | Jan 20, 2018, 9:14 AM

Even as Democrats continue to obstruct and play politics, I have never stopped fighting for the people, and I have no intention of changing course. I promised Jan. 20, 2017, would be remembered as a new day for all Americans – the day the people became the rulers of this nation once again.

For the past 365 days, that promise has been my guide.

We are putting America first, making real change in Washington, and creating opportunities for all of our people. From coast to coast, there is a renewed spirit. Our country is roaring back more quickly than anyone could have predicted. The American Dream is real again.

Estimates predict the U.S. economy grew at an annualized rate of more than 3 percent in the fourth quarter of last year – just like it did in the two quarters before that. The economy has created more than 2 million new jobs, and the unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest rate in 17 years: 4.1 percent. We have achieved the lowest African-American unemployment rate on record, and the unemployment rate for Hispanic Americans has also hit historic lows. Chrysler has announced plans to bring jobs and production back to the U.S. from Mexico. And the stock market continues to set record high after record high.

Just before Christmas, we enacted massive tax cuts and tax reform for the American people. For the first time in 30 years, we reformed the tax code to make it simpler and fairer. We have lowered rates for both individuals and businesses, expanded 529 education savings accounts to be used for K-12 education, and doubled the child tax credit. These changes will not only allow Americans to keep more of their hard-earned money, but they will help make American workers and businesses competitive again. This sweeping reform also repealed Obamacare’s individual mandate – an unpopular, cruel, and burdensome tax that hit low- and middle-income Americans the hardest.

Over the year, as Americans have seen increases in their paychecks and retirement accounts, American companies in every sector have grown their business and created more jobs. I have created a more business-friendly environment by mandating, early on in my administration, that for every one regulation an agency proposed, two regulations must be eliminated. Many said that could not be done. Not only did we meet that goal, we far exceeded it, eliminating 22 regulatory actions for every new regulation.

As your president, I have unleashed our abundant American energy by ending the war on coal and approving major projects like the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines. After 40 years of fights with those who want to keep America’s potential locked in the ground, we have opened a small portion of the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve to safe and responsible exploration and development.

Americans are living in communities that are safer, stronger, healthier, and more secure. We are rooting out violence and restoring the rule of law. The federal government will not turn a blind eye to the widespread opioid epidemic that has caused too many funerals for too many families. I directed my Cabinet to make responding to the public health emergency one of their most urgent priorities, and I provided more than $1 billion in funding in 2017 to address opioid addiction and other drug-related problems.

Real change is happening on the world stage as well.

Immediately upon taking office, I directed the rebuilding of our military, a new national security strategy, a comprehensive nuclear posture review, and the fielding of state-of-the-art ballistic missile defenses. I personally engaged with 150 world leaders at home and abroad, and our great military is executing new strategies that have liberated Mosul and Raqqa, retaken almost 100 percent of the land that ISIS had seized in Syria and Iraq, and lifted restrictions on U.S. forces in Afghanistan to defeat the terrorists and create conditions for a negotiated political settlement.

In recognition of the amazing job our military does protecting the homeland, a debt we can never truly repay, I am making sure this government fulfills its obligation to our veterans. We have already enacted major reforms to strengthen the Department of Veterans Affairs’ ability to provide high quality healthcare and benefits to millions of veterans and their beneficiaries. We have increased accountability, as the VA has fired 1,440 failing employees, suspended 430, and demoted 79, all as part of my efforts to make sure veterans get the help they need, in the time frame they deserve.

Finally, I have filled numerous vacancies in our federal courts with judges who will interpret the law as written – including our exceptional new Supreme Court Justice, Neil Gorsuch.

After one year, I am proud to report to the American people
that we truly are making America great again – for all Americans!

Trump Releases New Ad:
Democrats ‘Complicit in Every Murder Committed by Illegal Immigrants’

JOHN BINDER - 20 Jan 2018

The ad was released a day after Senate Democrats voted to shut down the federal government because the spending bill to keep the government open did not include amnesty for at least 3.5 million illegal aliens, as Breitbart News reported.

Luis Bracamontes, a 37-year-old illegal alien from Mexico who allegedly shot and killed Detective Michael Davis and Deputy Sheriff Danny Oliver in October 2017, is featured in the ad, saying in the courtroom during his murder trial that he wished he “had killed more of the motherf*ckers.”

... Mollie Hemingway, senior editor at The Federalist, wrote a
column in WaPo (of all places) to explain why she did not formerly
support the president, but now applauds his achievements in office.

I wasn’t a Trump supporter. I am now.
Mollie Ziegler Hemingway - January 19

This may seem like an odd moment for saying so, but a year into the presidency of Donald Trump, I’m elated.

Trump was not my first or even second choice for president, but a full two years ago I predicted he would win. I also predicted he’d be a progressive president, which explained why I was not among his supporters and why I am so pleased now.

Expecting Progressive Trump was a reasonable assumption. Trump supported the 2009 stimulus, the auto bailouts and the bank bailouts. He’d recently left the Democratic Party and had raised a ton of money for the Clintons, Nancy Pelosi and Charles E. Schumer. He’d supported single-payer health coverage, tax increases and even Planned Parenthood.

He was a New York liberal who had conquered the Republican Party in part by promising a good Supreme Court nomination. That was the most I allowed myself to hope for when he won.

The nomination of Neil M. Gorsuch to fill the vacancy of Antonin Scalia more than fulfilled that promise. Gorsuch isn’t a John Roberts, David Souter or Anthony Kennedy, to name three disappointing justices appointed by the three previous Republican presidents, but a brilliant legal mind with tremendous writing ability and persuasive powers.

Trump critics, particularly those on the right, like to mock Trump voters with the phrase “But Gorsuch!” It’s their way of saying that Gorsuch is the only good thing Trump has done and that a Trump presidency is not worth the rest. Except Gorsuch is not even close to the only good thing Trump has done.

He has appointed 12 outstanding federal appellate judges — a record number for a president in his first year. By comparison, President Barack Obama had only three in his first year.

His surprising conservatism might also be the result of the absolutism and extremism of his critics, whether among the media, traditional Democratic activists or the anti-Trump right. If Trump were ever inclined to indulge his liberal tendencies after winning the election, the stridency and spite of his opponents have provided him with no incentives to do so.

My expectations were low — so low that he could have met them by simply not being President Hillary Clinton. But a year into this presidency, he’s exceeded those expectations by quite a bit. I’m thrilled.

Column: Scale back immigration, boost Michigan wages
Janine Kateff Published 10:58 p.m. ET Jan. 3, 2018

The U.S. government currently gives lifetime work permits to about one million new immigrants each year. Michiganians across the ideological spectrum think that number is far too high. The vast majority of Michigan conservatives want to reduce legal immigration by at least half — but so do 63 percent of independents and 62 percent of union households. Even people who have previously voted for Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow favor the reductions by a five to three margin, according to a recent survey from immigration reform group NumbersUSA.

It’s no mystery why Michiganians are so united on the issue. Despite the economic recovery, millions of local workers are still unemployed or stuck in low wage jobs. The last thing they need is to compete against a flood of foreign workers.
Our current immigration system has put Michiganders, especially blue-collar workers, at a severe disadvantage. The system admits 50,000 immigrants a year via a randomized lottery system. And it allows previous immigrants to sponsor hundreds of thousands of their relatives for green cards
As a result, most green card recipients have no special skills. Seventy percent of immigrants 25 and older don’t hold a bachelor’s degree. So they compete against less educated Americans for the same sorts of blue-collar jobs.

Disproportionately, they win that competition. In the past decade, immigrants have accounted for about 45 percent of employment growth in the United States, even though they only made up 17 percent of the labor force. The number of native-born Americans in the labor force was lower in 2014 than it was in 2007, before the recession.

Competition between foreign-born and native-born workers keeps wages low. A Harvard University study found that low-skilled immigration lowered wages for American men by over 3 percent from 1980 to 2000
The RAISE Act would help reverse this trend. It would do away with the lottery system and make sure immigrants can only sponsor immediate family members for green cards. The bill would cap yearly refugee admissions at 50,000. It would also institute a points-based immigration system that rewards highly skilled and educated applicants.

All told, the bill would reduce the number of legal immigrants to about 500,000 per year.

SUPREMES JOIN TRUMP TO DISMANTLE OBAMA POWER GRAB - 'A victory for the rule of law and for accountability in government'

The Trump administration has worked virtually nonstop since the inauguration to dismantle some of the environmental campaigns launched by Barack Obama, and on Monday the U.S. Supreme Court joined in.

The justices ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency cannot provide a hedge of protection preventing courts from reviewing its actions by requiring such appeals be heard only in some courts.

“Today’s ruling is a victory for the rule of law and for accountability in government,” said James S. Burling of the Pacific Legal Foundation.

His organization worked with farmers, ranchers and other landowners nationwide fighting the Obama-era “Waters of the United States” rule.

The policy vastly expanded the federal government’s claim to authority over any water, even ditches and puddles.

“The EPA’s ‘waters of the United States’ rule may be the most brazen – and lawless – expansion of bureaucratic power in American history. The regulators who imposed it tried to shield it from review by limiting opportunities for the public to bring challenges. The Supreme Court struck a blow for liberty by rejecting this ploy and guaranteeing access to justice for the EPA’s victims,” Burling said.

The decision came in the National Association of Manufacturers v. U.S. Department of Defense case.

Chao in Davos:
Those who don't want to listen to Trump 'can leave'

Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said Wednesday that critics who don't want to listen to President Trump when he attends the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos this week "can leave."

"Davos should feel very flattered that he has chosen this as a forum,” Chao said at a panel discussion, according to Politico. "Those who don’t want to listen to him can leave."

When Trump travels to the Swiss Alpine resort town this week, he will become the first U.S. president in nearly two decades to attend the World Economic Forum, a gathering of powerful finance and business officials largely considered aligned with the free trade and globalism that Trump and his aides have derided.

But Chao defended his decision to attend, saying on Wednesday that the president was doing so in order to engage world leaders on issues of economic importance, Politico reported. The last U.S. president to participate in the gathering in Davos was Bill Clinton, who attended in 2000.

Chao also dismissed suggestions that Trump has led a U.S. withdrawal from global leadership and engagement, according to Politico.

“When we talk about America around the globe, it’s not as if America is going to withdraw,” she said.

Trump storms Davos:

* Trump meets British Prime Minister Theresa May
* He also attends a reception the White House said was held in his honor

* President is expected to push his America First agenda among the 'globalists' he bashed during the election
* Trump, who was not invited as a businessman, is the first President to attend since Clinton in 2000
Geoff Earle and Chris Pleasance - 25 January 2018

President Donald Trump landed Thursday in Switzerland, where his outsized personality and determination to push an 'America First' agenda is already upending the annual Davos conference.

To an extent, the annual confab of billionaires and CEOs was already centering around Trump even before Air Force One touched down in Zurich, then flew aboard Marine One to Davos in the Swiss Alps. Trump waved to a bank of cameras when he arrived, before being immediately whisked away to the annual gathering of heads of state and business leaders.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel took on isolationism and protectionism in her remarks here Wednesday, while French President Emmanuel Macron took a dig at Trump over global warming.

Trump's advisors have forecast that he will give a full-throated defense of his 'America First' policies in a Friday speech, at a time when the conference is wrapping up.

'America first is not America alone,' said White House senior economic adviser Gary Cohn, who is traveling with Trump. 'When we grow, the world grows; when the world grows, we grow. We're part of it, and we're part of a world economy. And the president believes that.'

Donald Trump:
It’s Not About Globalism in Davos; It’s About Business

President Donald Trump defended his decision to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, arguing that it was about attracting business investment in the United States.

“When I decided to come to Davos, I didn’t think in terms of elitist or globalist. I thought in terms of lots of people that want to invest lots of money,” Trump said in an interview with CNBC on Thursday.

Trump said he noticed that after he announced his decision to attend the World Economic Forum, the news coverage focused on globalists, the economic elite, and the private planes.

“It’s not about that,” he said. “It’s about coming
to America, investing your money, creating jobs,
companies coming in.”

Trump boasted that companies like Apple and its CEO Tim Cook announced big investments into the United States again.

“You remember my campaign. I used to say I won’t consider this great unless Apple comes in,” he said. “But so many companies are coming in.”

The president hosted a reception with about a dozen business leaders from big companies like Adidas, Nokia, Anheuser-Busch, and Volvo, touting the great benefits of his tax plan to bring more business back to the United States.

Democrats Reject Trump’s Amnesty Deal,
But Pocket Concessions on ‘Dreamers’

JOEL B. POLLAK - 25 Jan 2018

Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL) emphatically rejected the White House’s proposed terms for a deal to legalize the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which leaked to the media ahead of schedule Thursday.

President Donald Trump’s proposal would provide a 10-12 year “path to citizenship” for 1.8 million so-called “Dreamers” — illegal aliens brought to the U.S. as children — over and above the 800,000 DACA beneficiaries.

In return, it would demand $25 billion for immediate construction of a border wall, as
well as an end to chain migration and the diversity visa lottery program.

Durbin released the following statement rejecting the deal — but accepting Trump’s concession on 1.8 million “Dreamers” and the “path to citizenship”:

Dreamers should not be held hostage to President Trump’s crusade to tear families apart and waste billions of American tax dollars on an ineffective wall. After four and a half months, his Administration finally says it has a plan to solve the crisis he created when he ended DACA. The White House claims to be compromising because the President now agrees with the overwhelming majority of Americans that Dreamers should have a pathway to citizenship. But his plan would put the Administration’s entire hardline immigration agenda — including massive cuts to legal immigration — on the backs of these young people.

Republicans have just fourteen days to work with Democrats to reach a bipartisan agreement to pass the Dream Act and solve the DACA crisis. The President himself acknowledged two weeks ago that this must be addressed first, before any attempt to turn to comprehensive immigration reform. Bipartisan negotiations continue in Congress to get that done now.

In negotiation theory, one of the most basic mistakes is to bid against oneself. The Trump White House seems to have made that error, establishing 1.8 million “Dreamers” as a new anchor, a new minimum target for amnesty.

The proposal also establishes, in writing, that the “Dreamers” will be eligible for citizenship, not just legal residency.

WH Cancels Scheduled Rollout of
Citizenship for Illegal Aliens Plan

JOHN BINDER - 26 Jan 2018

The White House has canceled their planned meeting with lawmakers to roll out their immigration “framework” that gives U.S. citizenship to at least 1.8 million illegal aliens, as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer demands more concessions from the administration.

A statement from pro-open borders Sen. Dick Durbin’s (D-IL) office revealed that White House advisers — including Gen. John Kelly, former Koch brothers executive Marc Short, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Kirstjen Nielsen, and senior adviser Stephen Miller — have canceled their Monday rollout of the amnesty package.

... The expansive amnesty plan, if implemented, is likely to not only amnesty more illegal aliens than expected, but also cause an enormous surge at the U.S.-Mexico border, as it does not include a provision mandating E-Verify nationwide, which would ban employers from hiring illegal aliens.

Strategically, the amnesty plan was released at a time when new polling had revealed widespread support for Trump’s pro-American immigration agenda, which did not include citizenship for potentially millions of illegal aliens.

Currently, the legal immigration system to the U.S. prioritizes foreign nationals who have foreign relatives already living in the country. This process is commonly referred to as “chain migration.” As Breitbart News reported, chain migration has imported more than nine million foreign nationals to the U.S. since 2005 and is on track to bring at least eight million new foreign voters to the U.S. in the next two decades.

Immigration Reformers:
We ‘Mobilized’ to ‘Defeat’ Past Amnesties, Will Do
Same with White House Amnesty Plan

JOHN BINDER - 26 Jan 2018

Pro-American immigration reformers are vowing to help “defeat” a plan by White House advisers to give U.S. citizenship to millions of illegal aliens.

Roy Beck, the president of NumbersUSA, which advocates for an immigration policy that benefits American workers, said in a statement that his powerful network of amnesty opponents is ready to fight, should White House advisers continue pushing the expansive amnesty plan.

Beck said:

NumbersUSA has no choice but to oppose what is being suggested as the White House “framework” for a mass amnesty. The plan seems eerily similar to the blueprint used for the 2007 Bush-Kennedy amnesty, which appeared to end chain migration, but wouldn’t actually end it for 17 years. NumbersUSA mobilized our huge grassroots army to defeat the 2007 amnesty, and we will do the same if this plan is proposed next week.

Under the White House framework, young-adult illegal border crossers and visa overstayers would get immediate benefits, including, most importantly, the right to compete with Americans in the permanent job market.  But vulnerable American workers would get little or no relief from the competition of chain migration for 15 to 20 years.  Even if new applications for chain migration categories are stopped immediately, the framework would allow chain migration to continue for decades by allowing all of the four million foreigners in the waiting list to continue coming.

.... Every year, the U.S. admits more than 1.5 foreign nationals, with the vast majority deriving from family-based chain migration, whereby newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the U.S. In 2016, the legal and illegal immigrant population reached a record high of 44 million. By 2023, the Center for Immigration Studies estimates that the legal and illegal immigrant population of the U.S. will make up nearly 15 percent of the entire U.S. population.

Mass immigration has come at the expense of America’s working and middle class, which has suffered from poor job growth, stagnant wages, and increased public costs to offset the importation of millions of low-skilled foreign nationals.

Trump Provokes Democrats Into Showing
Their True Colors On Immigration

SCOTT GREER - 01/26/2018

The White House announced on Thursday its offer of what it wants in exchange for granting a pathway to citizenship for 1.8 million illegal aliens who came to the U.S. as minors.

An end to chain migration, $25 billion for border wall funding and the elimination of the diversity visa lottery are the demands the Trump administration expect to be met in order to earn the president’s approval for a legislative fix to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Giving amnesty to 1.8 million illegal immigrants seems like President Trump is willing to concede a lot to Democrats in Congress in order to build the wall and make serious reforms to immigration policy.

But in spite of the major concession on the part of the White House, Democrats and left-wing activists are treating the offer as a “legislative burning cross.”

This isn’t a counter offer; it’s a legislative burning cross. This isn’t an offer of someone who wants to get to a deal–it’s attempting to use the DREAMers as pawns to change the entire legal immigration system and get every item on Stephen Miller’s white supremacist wish list,” immigration activist Eddie Vale said of the deal.

“Let’s call this proposal for what it is: a white supremacist ransom note,” immigrant advocacy group United We Dream declared in a statement. “Trump and [White House aide] Stephen Miller killed DACA and created the crisis that immigrant youth are facing. They have taken immigrant youth hostage, pitting us against our own parents, Black immigrants and our communities in exchange for our dignity.”

(Ed: Bye, Bye Dreamers?) .... If the White House sticks to its offer, it will force Democrats to either agree to it or get no legislative fix to DACA at all. It’s provoking Democrats to show their true priorities on immigration and align against the interests of the average American.

Trump supporters should be pleased if the
president sticks with this strong bargaining position.

Amnesty Offer Intended to Expose Democratic Cynicism

NEIL MUNRO - 27 Jan 2018

President Donald Trump carefully distanced himself from his unpopular amnesty proposal late Saturday night, saying that it is intended to show the GOP’s sincerity and the Democrats’ cynicism and obstructionism.

( (

The giveaway amnesty deal was instantly and universally slammed by the Democrats’ ethnic and progressive activists, although Democratic leaders were careful to pocket the uncapped amnesty offer while demanding yet more concessions. The proposal emerged as Senate Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer told the New York Times that he had agreed to fund wall construction in a face-to-face meeting with Trump while privately believing he could not deliver on the deal.

Trump’s pro-American voters were hostile to the amnesty offer, which opens the door to a massive, unregulated, unending amnesty of far more than 1.8 million illegals.

The amnesty would greatly help business groups and their lobbies, such as the Koch brothers, partly by aborting widespread wage raises before the November election. Trump’s top congressional aide, Marc Short, is a former senior aide to the Koch brothers.

"... the federal government inflates the supply of new labor by annually accepting 1 million new legal immigrants, by providing work-permits to roughly 3 million resident foreigners, and by doing little to block the employment of roughly 8 million illegal immigrants."

“President Trump should fulfill his promise to the United States of America and to American citizens that voted for him,” said Angel Wife Ruth Johnston Martin of the White House’s Thursday-revealed amnesty proposal. “And what did he promise? He promised no DACA, no deals.”
Martin, an ordained chaplain and board member of The Remembrance Project, made her comments on Thursday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight with co-hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak.

“We say no to this bill,” said Martin. “No to DACA; no to amnesty.”

Socialist and Communist Usage

Various communist, socialist and other leftist political groups frequently use the colour red as a motif and wear red armbands to symbolise their affiliation and show solidarity at rallies and meetings. The red armband as a communist device was especially brought into the public consciousness by People's Republic of China dictator Mao Zedong and his "Red Guard," a highly motivated and well-indoctrinated paramilitary organisation devoted to Chinese communism.

About his research, Urwand said: "I wouldn't want what I write to be generalisable about Jews, but specific Jews in the movie business made decisions to work with Nazi leaders." Urwand has uncovered evidence that as late as January 1938 the German office of 20th-Century Fox was requesting Hitler's views about American movies. The letter was signed "Heil Hitler".

Three studios – MGM, Paramount and 20th-Century Fox – did not pull out of Germany until mid-1940. But even after Hollywood started making anti-Nazi films, Urwand says, it continued to erase reference to the Jews because studio chiefs (with the support of Jewish groups) wanted to "avoid special pleading on their behalf".

By 1932, Urwand writes, Nazi-inspired regulations allowed for film studios to have their permits revoked if films considered damaging to German prestige were shown not only in Germany but anywhere in the world. Hollywood, he claims, enthusiastically acquiesced to Hitler's demands to shape the content of movies to meet Nazi propaganda goals. "The excuse of ignorance can be ruled out," he writes. "Hollywood executives knew exactly what was going on in Germany, not only because it had been forced to fire its own Jewish salesmen but because the persecution of the Jews was well known at the time."

Hitler's Hollywood consul, Georg Gyssling, made regular studio visits, often requesting edits to scenes that ran counter to Nazi interests, or in the instance of films like The Mad Dog of Europe (1933) asking for them to be abandoned entirely. In 1936, after being tipped off by US censors that It Can't Happen Here, a film showing the advantages of democracy over fascism, would cause problems with "certain foreign governments", MGM head Louis B Mayer called off production.

"Hollywood is collaborating and the Nazis are having the final say on several important movies that would have exposed what was going on in Germany," said Urwand. The historian uncovered documents showing that, in order to get around currency export restrictions, MGM bought German bonds that financed rearmament factories in the Sudetenland. "You can't get more extreme than the biggest movie studio in America funding armaments a month after Kristallnacht," he said.

But other historians present a different explanation. In his research, Tom Doherty, a scholar at Brandeis University who recently published Hollywood and Hitler, 1933-1939, found US commerce department documents advising MGM that one way to get blocked currency out of Germany was to invest in armaments. "Maybe it doesn't look too good, but in 1936 Germany was a friendly nation and America was not a signatory to the treaty of Versailles

When Gyssling rebuffs the first question, attorney Joseph Scott threatens to resign from Town Hall if "the other side" is not heard, The Times says. Town Hall officials promise another gathering in which "the other side" could air its views ...

Film No Evil - ‘Hollywood and Hitler,’ by Thomas Doherty

Doherty, a film historian and professor of American studies at Brandeis University, points out that a great majority of American studios went out of their way to avoid any mention of the ominous political developments in Germany from the moment of Hitler’s rise to power in 1933 until well into 1939, when the outbreak of war in Europe had come to seem inevitable.

The motivation was largely commercial: the studios, with one important exception, did not want to risk the loss of a major European market by offending Joseph Goebbels’s Ministry of Popular Enlightenment and Propaganda, whose censors decided which foreign films would be shown in Germany.

The studios had seen early on what chaos the Nazis could cause, when Goebbels, not yet a state official, led a squad of brownshirts to disrupt the Berlin premiere of the 1930 antiwar film “All Quiet on the Western Front” with stink bombs, sneezing powder and cries of “Judenfilm!” Caving in to Nazi pressure, the weak Weimar government rescinded the film’s exhibition license, and Goebbels had won one of his first major propaganda victories. When the Nazis did come to power, they soon passed a law prohibiting Jews from participating in German movies — an edict that immediately destroyed one of the most creative film industries in Europe and drove many of its leading figures to America.
Hollywood’s response to this forced Aryanization was halfhearted. Those studios that had invested heavily in German distribution offices — like Fox, Paramount and MGM — removed Jewish personnel from key posts inside Germany but otherwise continued to do business as usual. Those with less to lose, like RKO, United Artists and Columbia, moved their operations out of Berlin but went on dealing with Germany from Paris or London.

Only Warner Brothers cut off relations entirely. In April 1933, the head of the studio’s branch office in Berlin, a British Jew named Phil Kaufman, was attacked and beaten by brownshirts. Ordered to leave Berlin, Kaufman ended up in Stockholm, where he collapsed and died a few months later from causes that may or may not have been related to the attack. That was enough for Jack Warner, the studio’s head. He immediately closed operations in Germany and became, as the decade wore on, the most actively anti-Nazi of the moguls.

But the Third Reich’s influence, as Doherty shows, extended beyond Germany to Hollywood itself. Unwilling to risk the displeasure of Nazi officials — and in particular, the wrath of the German consul in Los Angeles, Georg Gyssling — the studios avoided any mention of German politics in their productions, while backing away from Jewish subject matter, a Hollywood staple in the ’20s with films like “The Jazz Singer.”

Justification for this self-censorship was found in the Production Code, a set of laxly enforced moral guidelines established in 1930 by the industry’s trade organization, the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America. In 1934, the code was given new teeth with the creation of the Production Code Administration, an enforcement office under the direction of the implacable Joseph I. Breen (the subject of a previous book by Doherty, “Hollywood’s Censor”).

A vague admonition in the code — “the history, institutions, prominent people, and citizenry of all nations shall be represented fairly” — was all that was needed. It became the Breen Office’s excuse to codify, in Doherty’s words, “a see-no-evil, speak-no-evil, hear-no-evil policy toward any regime on the planet, especially if the nation in question offered a lucrative market for Hollywood imports.”

Sorry skeptics, Trump’s tax plan is actually working wonders
By Michael Goodwin  - January 27, 2018

( (

Not that they needed one, but progressive wing nuts and their fellow travelers are getting another reason to hate President Trump. He’s proving that capitalism works.

The president’s policies of cutting high taxes and excessive regulations are sparking a stock market surge and soaring economic confidence.

Each day brings announcements from companies ranging from Apple to Walmart that they are giving bonuses and pay hikes, adding new jobs and increasing their investments in America.

Millions of workers will get the bonuses, most of which are for $1,000, and untold others will get new or higher-paying jobs.

Most of those workers also will see their take-home pay increase because they will get personal income tax cuts and a doubling of the standard deduction. Those changes will become apparent in a week or so when the new lower rates are applied to payrolls.

The cash-in-the-pocket benefits are great news to many families, but the boom is doing something else too: It’s giving the millennials a firsthand lesson in economics.

In fact, government redistribution had its heyday under Obama, who raised taxes on upper incomes yet never stopped complaining that the rich didn’t pay their “fair share.”

He also piled up restrictions on business through environmental rules, ObamaCare and the Department of Labor, not to mention Dodd-Frank.

Those burdens strangled growth, both in terms of take-home pay and job creation. Obama was the first president never to have a whole year of 3 percent growth and had the lowest labor-participation rate in three decades.

State of the Union:
How ‘Teleprompter Trump’ can win the night

Linda Feldmann

JANUARY 29, 2018  WASHINGTON—A less-familiar version of President Trump is expected to take the podium for his first State of the Union address Tuesday night.

Call him Teleprompter Trump – the version who mostly sticks to the script, can be a bit stilted, and meets the standard definition of “presidential.” Twitter Trump, who regularly sends unfiltered and at times provocative messages to his more than 47 million followers, will be on hold. So, too, will Campaigner Trump, who won the 2016 election and still throws red meat to raucous crowds at rallies around the country.

Therein lies a central feature of this presidency: Mr. Trump’s ability to switch from one persona to the other, by turns reassuring the political establishment and then turning it on its head. The effect can be disruptive and contradictory, but it’s all part of the essential Trump. And on Tuesday night, by deploying the conventional Teleprompter Trump, he can help himself, analysts say.

“Trump was elected to be a disruptor – but people don’t want constant disruption,” says Ari Fleischer, press secretary in the George W. Bush White House. “His teleprompter speeches have won him plaudits… They show that governing is not the same as campaigning.”

Even many Republicans agree that teleprompter speeches are not Trump’s preferred method of communicating – and they often come across as flat and low-energy.

LibTards:~>“Memo to journalists and pundits … who will comment after the State of the Union: a president reading from a teleprompter for 45 minutes without melting down does not make him presidential.”

U.S. Oil Production Tops 10 Million Barrels
A Day for First Time Since 1970

Shale production helped lift November output to just shy of record
By Alison Sider and Lynn Cook - Jan. 31, 2018

U.S. oil production surpassed 10 million barrels a day in November for the first time in nearly 50 years, a milestone that underscores the growing dominance of the U.S. oil industry.

While global oil exporters once dismissed shale as a flash in the pan, the industry has emerged more efficient than ever from a three-year oil price rout and is poised to take advantage of prices that are at their highest levels since late 2014.

In November, production rose to 10.038 million barrels a day, 4% more than the previous month, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. That is just shy of the monthly record of 10.044 million barrels a day in November of 1970.

" ... the U.S. is on pace to pull ahead of Saudi Arabia, which last year produced just shy of 10 million barrels a day, and will vie with Russia, with output of 11 million barrels a day, to become the world’s top oil producer."

Atlanta Fed Sees GDP Rocketing
to 5.4% in First Quarter

JOHN CARNEY - 1 Feb 2018

The American economy is on track to grow at a 5.4 percent annualized rate in the first quarter of this year, the Atlanta Federal Reserve’s GDPNow forecast model showed on Monday.

The regional Fed’s forecast rose from last week’s 4.2 percent growth following a report on manufacturing that showed more expansion than expected. The forecast of real consumer spending growth rose from 3.1 percent to 4.0 percent, while the forecast of investment growth soared from 5.2 percent to 9.2 percent.

This is an early reading, based on just one-months data. Even the most optimistic economists do not expect the economy to expand at that rate in the first quarter.

Both the Atlanta Fed’s GDPNow and the New York Fed’s Nowcast had readings for the fourth quarter of 2017 that were substantially higher than the official initial estimate, which came in at a 2.6 percent annual growth rate.

'Stop delaying' US ready to strike trade
deal with Britain NOW warns Trump adviser

DAVID MADDOX - Feb 1, 2018

DONALD Trump's oldest political ally and adviser has said the US President is ready to do a trade deal with Britain now and Theresa May needs to stop delaying.

Roger Stone, who was previously a key adviser to Presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, also confirmed the President has not visited the UK yet because "he has not had a heartfelt invitation."

Speaking at a Tory Bow Group event in central London he also told the Daily Express that Britain will need a Trump like political figure with charisma who can stand up to the political elites to make a success of Brexit.

Mr Stone, who came to public prominence revealing allegations about John Kennedy’s assassination, has known the US President since 1980 when he persuaded the property magnate to raise funds for Ronald Reagan’s election campaign.

He then went on to try to persuade Mr Trump to run as President eventually succeeding on third attempt in 2016.

303 companies announce tax reform bonuses, raises, or 401(k) hikes

At least 303 companies have announced tax reform bonuses, pay raises, or 401(k) hikes, according to a running list compiled by Americans for Tax Reform, found at

Democrats and most media outlets continue to dismiss or altogether ignore the good news about tax reform. American workers do not agree with the “crumbs” comments of Democrat Leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

“The tax reform package is becoming increasingly popular with every headline,” said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform. “All this before Americans see higher take-home pay and lower tax withholding this month when 90% of Americans will first see their gains in their paycheck. Every two weeks from February to November Americans will be reminded that one party cut their taxes and raised their pay. And the other tried to stop it.”

EPA Head Oversaw Huge Changes,
Obama Agenda Wiped From Website

Pruitt personally ensured climate change was removed.
Asia Mayfield

Freshly released emails show just how deeply Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt was entrenched in the administration’s rebranding efforts.

He personally oversaw major changes to the agency’s website. References to climate change were purged, allusions to Barack Obama’s Clean Power Act erased.

President Trump has been excoriated by environmentalists and fringe liberals activists because of his choice in Pruitt. Liberals grew used to getting their way while Barack Obama was in office. President Trump and Pruitt are despised because they refused to let the agency carry on as it was before.

“The website purge reinforces serious concerns that Pruitt has predetermined that he will repeal the Clean Power Plan and the current rulemaking process is a sham,” the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) said in a statement published on their website.

Obama was known for his love of government regulations. He not only kept the EPA payroll bloated and overstaffed, he allowed ultra-liberal researchers to run the show. President Trump and Pruitt, by contrast, are willing to go where the science takes them. They don’t have an agenda to prove the way that climate change activists do.

Ron Paul:  sees right through it? (

While applause rang out during the speech, those of us who are able to see through the lies saw the dog and pony show for what it is—a glorification of war and the fleecing of American people.

Opening up his speech Trump appealed to bipartisanship which was an unusual move given his constant divisive rhetoric. But Ron Paul saw right through it as the issues Republicans and Democrats agree on are the things that hurt Americans the most like foreign policy, the Federal Reserve, insane military budgets, and war.
RP response:
Lots of praise for bipartisanship and "coming together" but coming together is not really the answer if it means coming together on bad foreign policy, bad monetary policy, deficit financing, massive military spending and foreign entanglements. #SOTU✔

As Trump moved on—briefly—to health care, he hypocritically claimed that Americans with “terminal conditions should have access to experimental treatments that could potentially save their lives.”

However, Trump remains entirely silent as his Attorney General wages war on a plant that has been proven to save lives—marijuana

Terminally ill should have access to experimental drugs - yes! But in a free market all free individuals should be able to make decisions on what kinds of medicine they wish to take. Like marijuana. #SOTU

Later on in his speech, Trump declared that it is the federal government’s job to keep Americans safe—completely ignoring the fact that safety is mentioned nowhere in the Constitution.

“My duty, and the sacred duty of every elected official in this chamber, is to defend Americans — to protect their safety, their families, their communities, and their right to the American Dream. Because Americans are dreamers too,” said Trump,

 to which Paul retorted
Prime function of the Federal government is NOT protecting our safety! It is the preservation of our Liberty. That forgotten word... #SOTU

They have pushed this narrative for so long , they need it to be true, and they will do whatever it takes to make it so.

After a major investment of time and legal fees, the only things discovered are “some pretty serious plots … plots that show they weaponized the FBI and DOJ against the duly elected President of this country.” He hopes we get to the bottom of it fast.

... is the Stock Market being sabotaged by
Never Trumpers in the FED? Some in-the-know
have been expecting this ...

FLASHBACK: Sept. '17

The Federal Reserve May Secretly Want to
Sink the Record-Breaking Stock Market

A big Federal Reserve meeting is coming up. Here is one thing that
could happen if the Fed gets too aggressive.

Scott Gamm

Despite its independence, the Federal Reserve may quietly want a bear
market that takes down a president that loves tweeting about the stock market.

Peter Schiff, CEO of Euro Pacific Capital, told TheStreet the "[Janet] Yellen put" in the markets could expire under President Trump. "I don't know if the Fed has much love for Trump," he said, adding that the Fed had the markets' back during the Obama Administration.

"Maybe the Fed would be happy to see a bear market that could be blamed on Trump." Schiff thinks the markets could easily correct 20%.

One black swan event Schiff sees is the notion of investors abandoning the euphoria over Trump's presidency, which helped fuel the stock market rally this year.

"We've had a huge move up since the election of Trump even though prior to the election the expectation was if Trump won it [would be a disaster for markets]," he said.

When asked if the two straight quarters of double-digit earnings growth has sparked the rally in stocks this year, as opposed to solely Trump, Schiff pointed to earnings headwinds in the retail sector.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Lawmakers pushed to enact a massive budget deal Thursday along with a stopgap temporary measure to prevent a government shutdown at midnight. GOP leaders tried to shore up support among conservatives for a plan that would shower the Pentagon with the billions they favor but also balloon the deficits they despise.

“It’s going to need bipartisan support. We are going to deliver our share of support,” House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. “Our members who are focused on the military are very happy where we landed with that.”

The measure was a triumph for Republican allies of the Pentagon and for Democrats seeking more spending on infrastructure and fighting opioid abuse.

But it represented a bitter defeat for many liberal Democrats who sought to use the party’s leverage on the budget to resolve the plight of immigrant “Dreamers” who face deportation after being brought to the U.S. illegally as children. The deal does not address immigration. And some tea party Republicans shredded the measure as a budget-buster.

"Democrats are shrugging off a series of favorable
polls and news cycles for Republicans ..."

Polls Show Significant GOP Resurgence in Past Two Months

Several recently released polls show a resurgence of Republican popularity among voters, as measured by President Trump’s approval ratings and the generic Congressional ballot.

The Real Clear Politics Average of Polls, for instance, currently shows the generic Congressional ballot advantage for Democrats has dipped to 6.2 percent, the lowest it has been since May 30 of last year, and down seven points from the 13-point advantage they had as recently as a month and a half ago.

President Trump’s job approval rating has increased to 42.3 percent in the Real Clear Politics Average of Polls, his highest since May 13 of last year.

As Breitbart News reported, the much hyped “Blue Wave” Democrats hoped would power them to a net gain of 24 seats in the 2018 midterms needed to give them control of the House of Representatives appears to have reached its peak two months ago in December.

Democrats dismiss the recent trends as temporary rounding errors, pointing to the December victory of Democrat Doug Jones in the Alabama U.S. Senate special election, and this week’s special election victory by a Democrat in a Missouri state legislative district that usually is reliably Republican as true indicators of what they call voter fatigue with President Trump and his policies.

Foster Friess says he’s never taken requests to run for public office seriously, mostly because he suspects his solicitors of “angling to get an invite to my 80th birthday party.”

That authenticity is why Trump was able to appeal to the working class, Friess said, despite its traditional status as a Democratic base.

“I believe his freedom, his authenticity is why he’s completely stolen the entire Democratic base. Where are the plumbers, the electricians, the construction workers? When he does the Keystone pipeline, all these construction workers [are there.] So the public service unions still aren’t on board with it, but the craftsmen, the carpenters [are.]”

“So the people now running the Democratic Party are replacing the country club Republicans, where you have Facebook, Google, George Soros,” Friess continues. “These are now the downward forces at the top of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party no longer is the Republican Party.”

“In fact, [Sen.] Jeff Flake said these rallies that Trump has are the last vestiges of the Republican Party and he’s right, but not the way he thought, because basically, the Republican Party has now morphed into a completely different group of people where it supports the little guy, if you will. The people that make our country work. The plumbers, electricians, waitresses.”

Trump launches $1.5 trillion infrastructure sales pitch
His infrastructure plan is light on federal dollars and heavy on
incentives for state and local spending.

BRIANNA GURCIULLO - 02/12/2018 10:28 AM

The White House finally rolled out President Donald Trump’s long-awaited infrastructure plan Monday, swinging for the fences with a $1.5 trillion initiative that is light on new federal dollars — but could inspire a wave of toll roads, ease decades-old regulations and permanently change cities’ and states’ expectations for assistance from Washington.

"It is time to give Americans the working, modern infrastructure they deserve," Trump said in a message to Congress accompanying his "legislative outline."

The proposal faces tough odds in Congress: Some conservative Republicans are already expressing shock at Trump’s total price tag, while Democrats say the share coming from the federal government would be too little to fill the backlog of crumbling roads, bridges, railroads, tunnels and airports, along with other needs like rural broadband service, veterans' hospitals, toxic waste cleanups and drinking water.

Trump is proposing to provide $200 billion for his plan over the next 10 years — “not a large amount,” he has conceded — paid for by unspecified cuts elsewhere in the budget proposal that the White House also plans to release Monday. That spending is meant to draw an additional $1.3 trillion or more in investments from cities, states, private investors and other sources.

Trump’s plan, the official said, offers “a permanent fix.” The plan also includes specific money for rural communities, aim to encourage apprenticeships and other forms of workforce training, and pay for unspecified “transformative,” “next-century-type” projects that would “lift the American spirit,” the official said.

House Energy and Commerce Chairman Greg Walden~>"... President Trump hit the nail on the head when constructing this plan to rebuild America's infrastructure. Improving our country’s infrastructure can be a bipartisan effort, and we stand ready to strap on our work boots and pave the way for success with our colleagues across the aisle."

Feds Collect Record Taxes in First Month
Under Tax Cut; Run Surplus in January

Terence P. Jeffrey - February 12, 2018

( - The federal government this January ran a surplus while collecting record total tax revenues for that month of the year, according to the Monthly Treasury Statement released today.

January was the first month under the new tax law that President Donald Trump signed in December.

During January, the Treasury collected approximately $361,038,000,000 in total tax revenues and spent a total of approximately $311,802,000,000 to run a surplus of approximately $49,236,000,000.

Despite the monthly surplus of $49,236,000,000, the federal government is still running a deficit of approximately $175,718,000,000 for fiscal year 2018. That is because the government entered the month with a deficit of approximately $224,955,000,000.

The $361,038,000,000 in total taxes the Treasury collected this January was $11,747,870,000 more than the $349,290,130,000 that the Treasury collected in January of last year (in December 2017 dollars, adjusted using the Bureau of Labor Statistics inflation calculator).

The Treasury not only collected record taxes in the month of January itself, but has now collected record tax revenues for the first four months of a fiscal year (October through January).

So far in fiscal 2018, the federal government has collected a record $1,130,550,000,000 in total taxes.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House unanimously passed H.R. 4708, the Department of Homeland Security Blue Campaign Authorization Act of 2017. This bipartisan bill, introduced by House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX), helps protect victims of human trafficking by providing the right tools to federal, state, and local law enforcement, as well as private sector organizations to increase awareness and better defend against this heinous threat.

Chairman McCaul: “We must do everything in our power to combat human trafficking, uphold human rights, and prevent our citizens from becoming victims of this heinous crime. The Department of Homeland Security Blue Campaign Authorization Act will better equip DHS to partner, educate, and coordinate efforts and intelligence sharing on multiple levels. It will provide resources to help deter, detect, and mitigate instances of human trafficking in our country. It will also safeguard victims and help raise public awareness of the threat human trafficking poses to our communities. I am confident this bill will help protect our citizens and children from being exploited.”

... Sessions comes alive!

Exclusive — Jeff Sessions:
We Are Ending ‘Executive Branch Legal Activism’

JOEL B. POLLAK - 16 Feb 2018

Attorney General Jeff Sessions told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview on Thursday that the Department of Justice was ending the “executive branch legal activism” of the previous administration, while also fighting the judicial activism of liberal judges.

“I think the department did become too political” under President Barack Obama, Sessions said. “Essentially, it was executive branch legal activism. They would take cases or regulations or statutes and expand or redefine the meaning of words in them to advance the agenda that they thought ought to be advanced — an agenda that often had zero chance of passing Congress, where the elected representatives sit.

“So you have an agenda, and you can’t get Congress to pass it, so you use unelected regulatory officials and lawyers to draft regulations and enforcement policies that carry out a political agenda that the people don’t favor.

“And I think that was a factor in this past [presidential] election, and it was an issue that was known to a lot of business and legal experts. They saw this as a dangerous trend.”

Sessions singled out President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program — which expires March 5 — as a primary example of “executive branch legal activism.” And he excoriated the courts for preventing President Donald Trump for withdrawing Obama’s policy.

The Media Stopped Reporting The Russia
Collusion Story Because They Helped Create It

The press has played an active role in the Trump-Russia collusion
story since its inception. It helped birth it.

Lee Smith - FEBRUARY 15, 2018

Half the country wants to know why the press won’t cover the growing scandal now implicating the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Department of Justice, and threatening to reach the State Department, Central Intelligence Agency, and perhaps even the Obama White House.

After all, the release last week of a less-redacted version of Sens. Charles Grassley and Lindsey Graham’s January 4 letter showed that the FBI secured a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant to search the communications of a Trump campaign adviser based on a piece of opposition research paid for by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. The Fourth Amendment rights of an American citizen were violated to allow one political party to spy on another.

If the press did its job and reported the facts, the argument goes, then it wouldn’t just be Republicans and Trump supporters demanding accountability and justice. Americans across the political spectrum would understand the nature and extent of the abuses and crimes touching not just on one political party and its presidential candidate but the rights of every American.

This Isn’t the 27-Year-Olds’ Fault
I’ve argued over the last year that the phony collusion narrative is a symptom of the structural problems with the press. The rise of the Internet, then social media, and gross corporate mismanagement damaged traditional media institutions. As newspapers and magazines around the country went bankrupt when ownership couldn’t figure out how to make money off the new digital advertising model, an entire generation of journalistic experience, expertise, and ethics was lost. It was replaced, as one Obama White House official famously explained, by 27-year-olds who “literally know nothing.”

But the first vehicles of the Russiagate campaign were not bloggers or recent J-school grads lacking wisdom or guidance to wave off a piece of patent nonsense. They were journalists at the top of their profession—editors-in-chief, columnists, specialists in precisely the subjects that the dossier alleges to treat: foreign policy and national security. They didn’t get fooled. They volunteered their reputations to perpetrate a hoax on the American public.

That’s why, after a year of thousands of furious allegations, all of which concerning Trump are unsubstantiated, the press will not report the real scandal, in which it plays a leading role. When the reckoning comes, Russiagate is likely to be seen not as a symptom of the collapse of the American press, but as one of the causes for it.
