Constantine

Constantine tells the story of irreverent supernatural detective John Constantine, who has literally been to hell and back.

Its come full circle, because the ARM beat them all . . .

Micro Men
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micro_Men

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1459467/

In 1979 Clive Sinclair, British inventor of the pocket calculator, frustrated by the lack of home investment in his project, the electric car, also opposes former assistant Chris Curry's belief that he can successfully market a micro-chip for a home computer. A parting of the ways sees Curry, in partnership with the Austrian Hermann Hauser and using whizz kid Cambridge students, set up his own, rival firm to Sinclair Radionics, Acorn. Acorn beat Sinclair to a lucrative contract supplying the BBC with machines for a computer series. From here on it is a battle for supremacy to gain the upper hand in the domestic market.

I've been meaning to rewatch Jacob's Ladder (saw it once, years back). Or a director's cut. I forget which.

People often reference The Matrix or V for Vendetta but I think my best genre film of recent years, and perhaps my favourite comic book movie of all time, is Captain America Winter Soldier. A thinking man's comic book movie. You get everything in that one. A great popcorn flick and anti-NWO message rammed right down your throat.

While they are all good films, for me "The Ninth Gate" sticks out as special, as each time I watch it I spot another 'new' detail.

Now I'm tempted to watch some of those films again... I got a friend coming up next weekend, and I think I will use that list for ideas.

TnX.

Indeed the 'The Ninth Gate' can be seen multiple times for the reason that you mention.

I had to watch 'The Ghost Writer' multiple times to get the whole movie in. That for me is a sign that's a Classic.

As you can see I like psychological thrillers more than only action hero movies. We've  seen enough of them.

Although they can be very enjoyable they don't touch my upper level attention.

Indeed with some talent and a unique perspective, low budget movies can be excellent.

I remember when I saw 'The Shining' for the first time I was not impressed.

But that was because my expectations had been tainted with the experimental horror movies from the eighties with buckets of smear and blood flowing all the time.

Although some of it also reflected on 'The Shining' with the bloody 'lift doors' scene.

Although he is Catholic you like him ?  ;)
: Re: Good movies

Although he is Catholic you like him ?  ;)

Of course I like him--that's silly not to like people because of their religion.  Besides I am not here to judge but to use discernment.

Hutton Gibson, his father is a very intelligent man--some things I agree with him on and other things I do not.

Gibson is an outspoken critic of the modern post-conciliar Catholic Church and is a proponent of various conspiracy theories. He disseminates his views in a quarterly newsletter called The War is Now! and has self-published three collections of these periodicals: Is the Pope Catholic?, The Enemy is Here!, and The Enemy is Still Here![10][24]

Gibson believes that the Second Vatican Council introduced explicitly heretical and forbidden doctrines into the Catholic Church in order to destroy it from within.[citation needed] He also holds that every pope elected since John XXIII, inclusively, has been an anti-pope or illegitimate claimant to the papacy.[citation needed] This doctrine is called "Sedevacantism", from the Latin words Sede ("seat") and vacante ("vacant"), and affirms that the Pope's seat is effectively vacant because those occupying it do not do so legitimately.[citation needed]

Gibson has been especially critical of Pope John Paul II, whom he once described as "Garrulous Karolus the Koran Kisser".[1] His allegation that the Pope kissed the Qur'an is corroborated by a FIDES News Service report of June 1, 1999, which quotes the Chaldean Catholic Patriarch, Raphael I, as having confirmed to the news service that he was personally present when John Paul II kissed the text sacred to Muslims:
“    On May 14th I was received by the Pope, together with a delegation composed of the Shi'ite imam of Khadum mosque and the Sunni president of the council of administration of the Iraqi Islamic Bank. There was also a representative of the Iraqi ministry of religion. ... At the end of the audience the Pope bowed to the Muslim holy book, the Qu'ran, presented to him by the delegation, and he kissed it as a sign of respect. The photo of that gesture has been shown repeatedly on Iraqi television and it demonstrates that the Pope is not only aware of the suffering of the Iraqi people, he has also great respect for Islam."[10]    ”

Gibson has also used his newsletter to argue against Feeneyism.[25]

At the January 2004 We The People conference, Gibson advocated that the states secede from the Federal government of the United States and that the United States public debt be abolished.[26]

In March 2003, shortly before Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ was released in American film theaters, Hutton Gibson provoked widespread outrage when he was broadcast by radio talk show host Steve Feuerstein and subsequently reported on a separate occasion in a New York Times Magazine article, saying on both occasions that the Holocaust was a fabrication.

One week before Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ was released in American film theaters, Hutton Gibson told radio talk show host Steve Feuerstein that the Holocaust was fabricated and "mostly fictional".[27] He said that the Jews had simply emigrated to other countries rather than having been killed, a view which some observers described as Holocaust denial.[27][28] He claimed that census statistics prove there were more Jews in Europe after World War II than before.[29] Gibson said that certain Jews advocate a global religion and one world government.[27] Gibson's family claimed that Steve Feuerstein misrepresented himself when he called Gibson and never revealed that he was being taped with the intent to broadcast his comments on his show, Speak Your Piece.[30]

In his interview for the New York Times Magazine article, Gibson dismissed historical accounts that six million Jews were exterminated:
“    "Go and ask an undertaker or the guy who operates the crematorium what it takes to get rid of a dead body," he said. "It takes one liter of petrol and 20 minutes. Now, six million?"

Across the table, Joye [Gibson's wife] suddenly looked up from her plate. [...] She had kept quiet most of the day, so it was a surprise when she cheerfully piped in. "There weren't even that many Jews in all of Europe," she said.

"Anyway, there were more after the war than before," Hutton added.

The entire catastrophe was manufactured, said Hutton, as part of an arrangement between Hitler and "financiers" to move Jews out of Germany. Hitler "had this deal where he was supposed to make it rough on them so they would all get out and migrate to Israel because they needed people there to fight the Arabs," he said.[1]
   ”

Gibson was further quoted as saying the Second Vatican Council was "a Masonic plot backed by the Jews"[2] and that the September 11, 2001 attacks were perpetrated by remote control: "Hutton flatly rejected that Al Qaeda hijackers had anything to do with the attacks. 'Anybody can put out a passenger list,' he said".[1]

In the early 1990s, Gibson and Tom Costello hosted a video called Catholics, Where Has Our Church Gone?[31] which is critical of the changes made to the Catholic Church by the Second Vatican Council and espouses the Siri Thesis that in 1958, after the death of Pope Pius XII, the man originally elected pope was not Angelo Roncalli, but another cardinal, "probably Cardinal Siri of Genoa" (a staunch conservative candidate and first papabile). Gibson stated that the white smoke which emanated from a chimney in the Sistine Chapel to announce a new pope's election was done in error; black smoke signifying that the papacy was still vacant was quickly created and the public was not informed of the reason for the initial white smoke. A still photograph of a newspaper story about this event is shown. "Had our church gone up in smoke"? asked Gibson. He stated that the new pope was forced to resign under duress and two days later, the "modernist Roncalli" was elected pope and took the name "John XXIII". In 1962, Roncalli, as Pope John XXIII convened the Second Vatican Council.[31] In 2006, Hutton Gibson reversed his position on the Siri Thesis, asserting that this theory was based on a mistranslation of an article written on October 27, 1958 by Silvio Negro for the evening edition of the Milan-based Corriere della Sera.[32] A similar event also happened in 1939; in that case a confusing mixture of white and black smoke emanated from the Sistine Chapel chimney. In a note to Vatican Radio, the secretary of the Papal conclave at the time, a monsignor named Santoro said that a new pope, Eugenio Pacelli, had been properly elected regardless of the color of the smoke. Pacelli took the name Pius XII.[33]

Gibson endorsed Ron Paul for President in the 2008 United States Presidential Election.[34] In January 2010, he made an appearance on the far-right-wing radio show, The Political Cesspool, to promote his views.[35] In August 2010, he made another appearance on The Political Cesspool during which he made a widely-discussed allegation that Pope Benedict XVI is "homosexual" and that "half the people in the Vatican are queer". During the same interview, he also claimed that the Pope was a Freemason.[36][37]

Great American movie "Gorky Park". A conscientious Soviet (in the film says he is Russian ) officer of the militia in USSR (William Hurt) to fight against the American smuggler samurs and a murderer (L. Martin ) and corrupt KGB and the Soviet state prosecutor.

However, the help comes from someone at least hoped for from American policeman ( Brian Dennehy ) who came to the USSR to avenge his brother whom he was convinced that he was Russians killed but he was surprised.

Today is a public service TV Serbia (RTS) shows the Serbian historical film "Timocka buna" ( "Timok rebellion") from in 1983.
For you, this forum can be interesting to why the Serbs rebelled in 1883? Because the king of Serbia Milan I asked people to surrender their weapons by is taken from the Turkish occupiers. People refused and rebelled.

Anyone have an actual, working link where you can download the censored VAXXED documentary?  Been looking all over the Internet for it.  I cannot believe there isn't even a torrent download of this yet.  All I find are bs spam sites all over the place saying "download" by the documentary title, but they are all illegitimate links.  Besides the film festival someone is working very hard to prevent this from being mass disseminated globally.  Also what's up with all these sites that claim if you "log in" (um, how about NO?) that you can then access it?

Indeed a Classic and a Must See! With Geena Davis and the always good acting Samuel L. Jackson. Contains 9/11 predictive programming :

The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116908/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Nice thriller, quite enjoyable. With Bruce Willis as the bad guy:

Marauders (2016) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3963816/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_6

Not an high-flyer but an enjoyable action, stay cool, flick. Also with 'The Bruce' btw:

Precious Cargo (2016) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4651410/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_7

What I like about Bruce Willis is that he doesn't mind participating in B-movies. Bruce just wants to play and so he does :)

here is a good movie ...full movie

The Mcguffin - Screen Two - Thriller - Charles Dance

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoKyf4Eayiw

Here's is my favourite of the1980's BBC Screen Two series of film made for television The Mcguffin starring Charles Dance its a spooky weird homage to Alfred Hitchcock's movie "Rear Window in this case Charles Dance plays a journalist who witnesses strange goings on in a flat opposite his rear window and from that all manner of spine chilling terrible events follow.its based on the novel by John Bowen The film features many well known faces the late great actor Wrestler Brian Glover,Actor and comedy writer Chris Langham,Anna Massey etc etc

In fiction, a MacGuffin (sometimes McGuffin or maguffin) is a plot device in the form of some goal, desired object, or other motivator that the protagonist pursues, often with little or no narrative explanation. The specific nature of a MacGuffin is typically unimportant to the overall plot. The most common type of MacGuffin is an object, place or person; other, more abstract types include money, victory, glory, survival, power, love, or some unexplained driving force.

The MacGuffin technique is common in films, especially thrillers. Usually the MacGuffin is the central focus of the film in the first act, and thereafter declines in importance. It may re-appear at the climax of the story, but sometimes is actually forgotten by the end of the story. Multiple MacGuffins are sometimes derisively identified as plot coupons.
The director and producer Alfred Hitchcock popularized both the term "MacGuffin" and the technique, with his 1935 film The 39 Steps, an early example of the concept.[4][5] Hitchcock explained the term "MacGuffin" in a 1939 lecture at Columbia University: He used the two men in the train story which follows.

Interviewed in 1966 by François Truffaut, Alfred Hitchcock illustrated the term "MacGuffin" with this story:[6][7]

It might be a Scottish name, taken from a story about two men on a train. One man says, "What's that package up there in the baggage rack?" And the other answers, "Oh, that's a MacGuffin". The first one asks, "What's a MacGuffin?" "Well," the other man says, "it's an apparatus for trapping lions in the Scottish Highlands." The first man says, "But there are no lions in the Scottish Highlands," and the other one answers, "Well then, that's no MacGuffin!" So you see that a MacGuffin is actually nothing at all.

Hitchcock related this anecdote in a television interview for Richard Schickel's documentary The Men Who Made the Movies and for Dick Cavett's interview. According to author Ken Mogg, screenwriter Angus MacPhail, a friend of Hitchcock, may have originally coined the term

Double Indemnity

My favorite Film Noir.  The 1940's & 50's, crime movies, "dark" films.  The best have a really bad woman at the heart of the action, and Barbara Stanwyck was the baddest of the bad.  A great movie.

Directed by Billy Wilder, an Austrian who fled the Nazis and became a great Hollywood director.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Wilder

Wilder also made Ace in the Hole, another classic film noir, and Sunset Boulevard.  Some think Sunset Boulevard is a perfect movie.

and Double Indemnity is as good as film noir gets......I have always said when asked

If  could time travel WITH A LOT OF MONEY where would I go ?......My answer has always been the same ....LA in the 1940s......To make films .....

I'm working my way through a series of detective novels that are set in 1940 Hollywood.  I think 2 dozen books, I'm on #3.  Read a chapter a day.

The Toby Peters series, by Stuart Kaminsky.  Peters does gumshoe work for the movie studios.  A great gimmick for a series, because you don't have to do a lot of character description.  When he meets and talks to Judy Garland, you can picture her from her movies.  Don't need to describe her hair, voice, eyes, etc.  The books are a blast if you like old movies.  And it seems that they'll all take place over the course of a year or so.  As soon as one case ends, he's hired by another studio to do another job.  So I expect all of the books will take place in Golden Age Hollywood.

That's the series, if the link still works.  Download that, uncompress it and use a reader like Mobipocket, and you're in business.

EDIT:  Just finished watching the analysis.  I liked it.  Gave me some things to watch for next time.  Thank you.

Spellbound (1945)

Spellbound is a 1945 American psychological mystery thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It tells the story of the new head of a mental asylum who turns out not to be what he claims. The film stars Ingrid Bergman, Gregory Peck, Michael Chekhov and Leo G. Carroll. It is an adaptation by Angus MacPhail and Ben Hecht of the novel The House of Dr. Edwardes (1927) by Hilary Saint George Saunders and John Palmer.

I've reached the point where I don't want to watch movies set in the NOW...Where everybody has cell phones , laptops ,and all that stuff.....
One good period film that came out recently was BRIDGE OF SPIES....

Anyway , there is something about films made  before JFK was wacked circa 1963....

Turner learns that the report he had filed provided links to a secret plan to take over Middle Eastern oil fields. The planning "game" is later described as a rogue project initiated without formal approval from above. Fear of its disclosure was sufficient to have Atwood privately order the elimination of Turner's section.

Movie Review: Silence Patton

By Bill Sardi

I drove home after viewing a “sneak peek” of Robert Orlando (writer/director) and Mark Joseph’s (producer) documentary film about General George Patton entitled SILENCE PATTON thinking about something this film never intended when it was first conceived.  I drove home thinking we never learn from the past.

The current events of the day, namely the election of Donald Trump, forces one to make comparisons with General George Patton.  Oh, I’m going to hear it from veterans who will quickly say: “Donald Trump is no George Patton.”  Yes, that is true.  But I kept thinking of the lessons learned from the SILENCE PATTON film and I couldn’t help but parallel them with what is going on today in America.  The movie may portend America’s future.

Physical Gold & Silver in your IRA. Get the Facts.

General Patton was outspoken.  He was no diplomat.  He saw no romance in war as military recruiters often sell to young men.  He had the unflinching nerve. He didn’t mince his words.  He spoke with bluntness.  He was not politically correct.

Marlowe, why Gen. Eisenhower stopped Gen. Patton ? Have you any evidence ?
About ending WW2 in Europe before 1945 was lot of talking. Now I am sure that the war was over to British PM Churchill was not delayed the opening of the Western Front in France or the Netherlands (against such a policy were the USSR and the USA).
British forces landed in Greece to disarm the local communists (EAM) and the return of the Greek King and his government in Athens ( such a development they hoped pro-Ally guerrilla ( Chetniks ) under the command of Gen. Mihailovic in Serbia  :(  )
On the other hand, I do not know why the Western Allies landed in southern France in 1944.

A few corrections
1) Hungus' pronunciation of cable is apparently the German version. I don't speak German, but had doubts about the Kabal interpretation, which is why I included immediately after that part of the video a clip of Dude saying "Face it Walter there isn't any connection".
2) Dude's "mini-bowling ball" is a Magic 8 ball, but it certainly has the appearance of a bowling ball and the number 8 is very similar to the B design on the bowling balls used in other scenes. Given Dude's bowling pin pipe prop I suspect the Magic 8 ball may still represent a bowling ball of sorts and perhaps something about Dude's philosophy generally - books on UFOs and other stuff.
3) The Edelwiess translation - while writing the video I came across the translation of it meaning a white flower, but the translation engine I used came back with "Noble White" so that's the one I put in the vid.

Both cased on true stories, these two movies show what happens when a security state gets out of hand. Don't think it can happen here? It already is.

In The Name Of The Father

Story of Gerry Conlon, purported ringleader of the Guildford Four, a group of three Irishmen and one English woman wrongly imprisoned for the 1974 IRA bombing of a pub in Guildford, England, that left five people dead. Conlon's father Guiseppe was subsequently imprisoned along with six other Conlon relatives who became known as the Maguire Seven.

Catch A Fire

A political thriller: the real-life story of a South African hero's journey to freedom. In the country's turbulent and divided times in the 1980s, Patrick Chamusso is an oil refinery foreman and soccer coach who is apolitical - until he and his wife Precious are jailed. Patrick is stunned into action against the country's oppressive reigning system, even as police Colonel Nic Vos further insinuates himself into the Chamussos' lives.

Battleground
1949 Action / Drama / War

We follow a band of American soldiers as they engage the Germans in a snowy, foggy winter near Bastogne in World War II. They're low on fuel, rations, and ammunition; the Germans are constantly encouraging their surrender via radio and leaflets, and most importantly, the pervasive thick fog makes movement and identification difficult and prevents their relief by Allied air support. This film focuses much more on the psychology and morale of the soldiers than on action footage and heroics.

The film is notable for portraying American soldiers as vulnerable and human. While they remain steadfast and courageous, each soldier has at least one moment in the film when he seriously considers running away, schemes to get sent back from the front line, slacks off, or complains about the situation he is in. Battleground is considered to be the first significant American film about World War II to be made and released after the end of the war.

I never heard for that movie.
Anyway, Soviet, American ( till 70`s ) and Yugoslav war movies presented soldiers of Red Army, US soldiers, Tito`s partizans as Superheroes from comic box but German soldiers like robots.

P.S. In Belgrade (former Yugoslavia), recorded a popular TV series ("Тhe Written off") ( "Otpisani").
A classic communist falsification of history. Group of Communists in the occupied Belgrade killing dozens of German soldiers and collaborationist policemen.

Soviet state television liked the script and wanted to buy the TV series. However, when not only the Germans but also their associates presented as people of flesh and blood, Soviet television did not want to buy "Otpisani ". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071028/http://

Spotlight is a 2015 American biographical crime drama film directed by Tom McCarthy and written by McCarthy and Josh Singer.[4][5] The film follows The Boston Globe's "Spotlight" team, the oldest continuously operating newspaper investigative journalist unit in the United States,[6] and its investigation into cases of widespread and systemic child sex abuse in the Boston area by numerous Roman Catholic priests. It is based on a series of stories by the "Spotlight" team that earned The Globe the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.[7] The film stars Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, John Slattery, Stanley Tucci, Brian d'Arcy James, Liev Schreiber, and Billy Crudup.[8]

Spotlight was shown in the Out of Competition section of the 72nd Venice International Film Festival.[9] It was also shown at the Telluride Film Festival and the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.[10] The film was released on November 6, 2015, by Open Road

No soldier in Stalingrad not blame his "Fuehrer" to a situation where he was.
Artistic value is killed "political correctness" - are all to blame and no one is to blame. "
If you want to make a feature film about the battle of Stalingrad, I have already recommended the Hollywood version of "the enemies at the gates."

We watched Inside Llewyn Davis tonight, a Coen Brother's movie.  Excellent, very well made.  And the actor in the title role was excellent.  It's a movie about folk singers and he played and sang his own material, which is rare for movie actors.

The movie made me think of once called Hank Williams: the Show he Never Gave.  Probably the best actor/musician performance I've ever seen on film.  It surprised me that the entire movie is on Youtube.  About 1.5 hours long:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0E_zv4BlkE

The actor who plays Hank Wms is Sneezy Waters.  He did stage performances of Hank Williams.  The movie was filmed in Canada I think, maybe on 16mm, so it looks pretty rough.  Waters is amazing though.  This is probably the best biopic I've ever seen.

If you like Hank Williams and haven't seen this, you might enjoy.

Born on Fourth July ( 1989) by Oliver Stone.

So good a movie to be shown before the Fall of the Berlin Wall, the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact and the collapse of the Soviet Union...Based on the book of Ron Kovic * Great actors, music, part of movie is documentary.
